Location is great, and the hotel is very nice.
I ordered a solo room, and as expected, it was smsll but very comfortable.
I do have one issue, and I don't know if it is a solo room ghong, but the only free outlet to charge my phone was in the bathroom. All other outlets had lamps plugged into them, so I could eather charhd my phone in bsthroom, or, if I wanted to charge it by the bed, disconnect the reading lamp.
While this hotel is bery good, I would suggest splurging on a double room even if you are traveling solo.

We booked to stay at the Hotel Mercure Wien Westbahnhof. This is rated 4 stars on most sites. I have stayed at many Mercures in the past and have had lovely stays. When booking this we had to pay extra to have A/C, fridge (needed to put medication in) and a safe. These are called Superior rooms. In Vienna, in summer, you need AC. These rooms are NOT superior and very small and the furniture is dated. When booking, I asked twice to have a walk-in shower due to my disability and was told they would help. I also explained at reception when we arrived they just did not care, and they refused. The shower was not safe and became very slippy. I was unable to use it after the first time. My request to have a walk in the shower due to a disability was ignored. The AC would stop during the night and the room would become very hot. The bed itself was a double. The mattress was very firm & hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. The curtains did not close properly, and they did not block out the light. The walls had a terrible paint job and the carpet had holes in. I asked for a quiet floor, but the room was next to the lift and was very noisy at nighttime. The door had a spy hole with no cover, so light came through at night. They advertise a mini-bar on the booking and website, but there is none. Not ever bottled water in the rooms. This is NOT a 4-star hotel and the rooms they sell has Superior are NOT. This hotel is also NOT disabled-friendly and will ignore all special requests.

Very simple stay - wasn’t made clear that we would be in the basic rooms on Expedia’s site. This isn’t the hotel’s fault. Very clean and great breakfast. Shame that the bar area closed quite early so were unable to get a hot drink after 11pm.

Hotel was goid at ground level but rooms are small. Eventhough I had opted for an upgrade room was smaller than the regular rooms at other hotels.

Area is not great although public transport is good. I dodnt feel generally comfortable in this area as I experienced staring locals in this neighborhood.

Just come back staying in this hotel, you get what you pay for tbh. It’s so great for tube, train and tram and main reason I choose it. Staff are great, clean & for a city break ideal. There are some draw backs, the lift motor you can hear in my room, I asked to move to a room at the edge of hotel and this really helped walls are quiet thin so at times can be noisy. I had a superior room and had to unplug lamps as nowhere to charge phones etc so more plug sockets are needed. Room needs updating but ok beds are comfy. We didn’t have breakfast felt 24 euros way to high as you can go into centre and get cheaper breakfast. So all in all great hotel with a few draw backs but every hotel has some issues with some people. Hop this helps.

Check in was a nightmare. Only one person on duty who looked fairly junior and only had one speed even with several parties waiting. Property could do with a good lick of paint and general refurbishment. It looked and felt very dated.

In such a large city, transportion is key. The hotel is located within 200 m from a metro, tram and train station. The train station has a large mall with many restaurants to choose from and even an Ikea. A Lidl grocery store is across the street. Friendly staff. The lobby is amazing with a replica of a Gustav Klimt mural that is found at the Secession Museum. The room itself is spacious enough, although it looks good but the scale of the furniture doesn' t use the space efficiently. Not enough space to even unpack our backpacks during our 4 day stay. The water pressure is incredible, best shower ever. Again the bathroom looks good, but the lighting is directed on the sink and not toward the face, so shaving and makeup are a guessing game. The A/C was set at 20 C and not very powerful, so the room became warm and we had to open the windows and put some ear plugs to sleep because the street below is super busy and noisy with open windows. The boulevard had 8 car lanes, a tram track and a small park separating traffic. Although the large armoire that holds the fridge is quite deep, the fridge itself is shallow. Instead of a desk is an oval table with no desk lamp. The beds were comfortable but the pillows with a bit deflated. Still it looks goods. We skipped the breakfast as it was pricy.

Overall a good experience

Clean, friendly, great location, good value for money. Only 2 small negatives - would love a kettle in the room - the cafe seemed a bit too formal to get a quick coffee from. One day at breakfast I had to wait 5 mins for cups to be replaced before I could get a drink. Minor inconveniences but slightly frustrating if you're a coffee addict like me.

Really great location next to supermarket, train station and shopping centre. Only 10 minutes on metro to city centre and 15 minutes by tram to main train station.

Staff were fantastic. Rooms and decor perhaps a little tired. Leak in the bathroom but didn’t give them a chance to sort. Good for 1 or 2 night stay in Vienna.

Pretty standard hotel by a train station. However, weren't impressed with housekeeping, particularly as the complimentary teas/coffees weren't replaced, and our used mugs were untouched and left by bed etc, and not replaced.

The room itself was fine, a bit small for two people and not much of a view but fine to sleep in.

I would recommend this hotel for one or two night stays, but not any longer.

I booked a one night stay for my Mom at this hotel. When she checked in, she sent me photos, and the place looked dodgie, like a 2* hotel. The bed was so small, she could have fallen off of it (she is 5’5), and the whole room was about 2by2... the pictures from Expedia were completely different to what the room looked like, falsely advertising the conditions with pictures that made the room look bigger, and more elegant looking. Even the furniture was different in the room! The bathroom was also different.

i called the hotel, but staff said they cannot do anything. My booking said twin bed, yet the staff said it was “just a request” therefore they’ve followed protocol.

Then I called Expedia. 3x the line was disconnected, and I was not called back (although the operators all said they have my number in case the call gets disconnected). Each time I called back, I had to start over and explain everything again. It was 1AM my time (I live in Sydney). At the end, the last operator said that she couldn’t reach the hotel as no one is picking up the phone... Wonder how I was able to reach the hotel then? They told me to send an email to their customer support team... which I will... but none of this will change the fact that the room I booked for mom was FALSELY ADVERTISED and nothing changed about that. Even if I get reimbursed, it won’t change the fact that the one night my mom spent at this hotel, was in a 2by2 room that looked like a dodgie 2* hotel.

Overall a very enjoyable stay, staff were polite & on point with everything. Ready to help me answer any queries or needs I may have. Rooms are very clean and updated with all the amenities you may need. The area is very close to the westbahnhof train station. Very easy to get around in & a lot of restaurants and shop around as well! Will definitely come back to stay at The Mercure!

Check in was very poor as they asked us to wait for more than 3 hours. Two single beds were given which had wheels, hence were unstable despite our request for double bed. They kept on shouting that hotel is fully booked and whatever they are giving one must take as if it was on charity. It was certainly not good value for money.

Train from Munich to Vienna and a super Hotel Stay

Arrive at the Westbahn train station, (Everything comes in, in one direction) Get off the train and walk to the end of the platform. Turn left and walk to the outside of the building. There you will see a road crossing, cross the road and the opposite corner is the hotel.
To return to the underground station, its out the hotel straight across the road then a slight right through the entrance door - dead easy!
Its a quiet hotel with a few eating and drinking places within 'crawling' distance :-)
The breakfast was a usual buffet with a super choice. Bar snacks were nice, BUT just be careful of the beer. The choice is 5.4% draft and 5.5% bottles - It was nice though :-)
Beds a bit firm but very comfortable.

I'm planning on returning once again later in the year - fly to Munich then the Meridian train to Salzburg and then the Westbahn train to Vienna (€25 for one and an extra 7 per person) then the Westbahn train is a max of €33.50 each but as low as €20.(About 5.5 hours travel time in total)

They now do a combi ticket on the Westbahn and Meridian trains all the way from Vienna to Munich for €99 for 3 people (buy the ticket on the train) - NOW ,that is a VERY cheap option indeed!
(€57 for one)
On top of that they do discounts for 'Seniors' over 60's of a Euro or two!

The rooms are modest but clean and the bath and shower was wonderful! The staff was helpful and happily stored our luggage after checkout while we finished our exploration of Vienna. This location is across from the Westbahnhof with its grocery store, post, and other shopping. Convenient travel anywhere day or night.

This is our 2nd trip to vienna and opted to stay at Mercure as we tried them in Salzburg last year and thought they were good value for a reasonable price. This hotel is a comfortable walk into the city centre and also near the Westbahnhof rail station which also serves bus connections. On booking into the hotel,l was not happy with my room and they changed it for me without fuss-something that l appreciate. this hotel has air conditioing,fridge and kettle which are bonuses if you are traveling for a long time. Our room was quiet and comfortable and we will stah here again. we ate at the little restaurant around the corner which seems to cater for lots of locals and the food was a fair price.

The check in is not a 2 PM( see reservation), is a 3 PM., the elevator not work. The list of minibar is not in concordance of minibar object. I pay everything mons before. Hem ask for me guarantee card for 51,38€ ??????. After 10 days, ad today guarantee not release.

Two-minute walk from West bhf. On ground floor, you have to walk down a few steps to reach the lift and the hotel locked the ramp so you have to drag your suitcases through the steps. I find this a bit annoying. There is only one small lift and hence you may have to wait for awhile during busy hours.
The room is clean and the bathroom is quite spacious. No noise even we stayed right in front of the lift.
It takes leas than 10 mins to walk to a main street where there are many shops and restaurants.

Good hotel near the West Bahnhof

We were making a connection to Linz on an early train the next day from the West Bahnhof and the hotel was a two minute walk from the station. The station is new and very nice. The neighbourhood was nicer than I would expect for being so near a train station. We slept well and did not hear the trains. We had a lovely roof top view of Vienna which made it a very special stay for us. The price was very reasonable.

It met our needs. Room had sufficient space, lighting, etc. Bed was comfortable. Pillows were barely adequate. Bathtub was dangerous. Appreciated the safe and refrigerator, but minibar was unnecessary and cluttered up the refrigerator. Location OK. Nearby restaurants and access to public transportation. Adjacent to train station, which was a positive in terms of convenience as we arrived by train from Munich but negative in terms of a lot of homeless folks and apparent vagrants around. We took the bus from train station to airport for 8e a person - good deal, about 40-45 minute trip. In summary an acceptable place to stay for 2-day and 3-night visit.

The hotel is very convenient to the train station. Staff was helpful and friendly. The only bad thing was the wifi connection in the room- it was almost nonexistent. For this reason I would not stay here again.

On arrival they told me that they do not have my reservation and payment for the room and after 2 hours of discussion they reserve 100 Euro form my credit card and make a new reservation and they did not have triple room so they gave me double room and put an extra bed so the room was very small and crowded and difficult to move and in the morning they said we found your reservation and payment and will release the 100 Euro to your credit card!!! really I can't believe what happened.

Very average for a mercure badged hotel. hotel amenities poor -no tea making facilities , free wi-fi only available in Smokey noisy foyer filled with lots of other diehard internet users. Lots of alternatives nearby
