The hotel itself is a 5 minute walk to Milano Centrale train and subway station. The hotel has good wi-fi and the cable tv in the room has a variety of Western European channels (not many in English, but Italian, German and French were wildly found). The hotel itself does have a 25euro breakfast option, but directly across the street was a terrific cafe that I went to most mornings for a great cappuccino and pastry or sandwich.

Just down the block there were 2 Italian restaurants that were open till Midnight and 1 am respectively.

The hotel was VERY CONCERNED when I would walk out for late night eating about casual petty theft. I made sure to keep paying attention certainly. At the same time, the subways make those same announcements throughout your journey.

The police during the Olympics apparently made a lot more sweeps to try and clean up that area around Centrale. I live in a big city, so certainly I am aware that I need to be cognizant of my surroundings.

The property at night would lock the front doors and then when you came back (like between 2am onward, they would have you show your room key and they would open it up - they were on it). I never had any issues when I was there, but just thought to mention this.

Room was clean with a clean, updated bathroom. Staff was friendly. Room service was not provided on our last day.
Three areas that could improve:
A regular chair would have been nice.
This may sound picky but free water was provided on the first day of a nine-day stay. After which, free water was not provided. Didn't make sense to not provide this service each day.

The service was wonderful! The workers were so nice! And location is amazing; the train station is literally walking distance (like 3 mins away) and there were great bars and restaurants in a walking vicinity! They big reasons why I did not give them a 5/5 is because the walls on thin- so I could hear a lot of things going on outside. I would stay here again, no doubt.

Convenient location just few minutes from the metro. The room is clean. Bed is comfortable. Friendly staff. The only thing is the noise from the water pipes. And the wall is no sound proof I can literally hear the sound people make when they close the drawer.

The room is on the ground floor, The window is not floor-to-ceiling; it’s only about 80 cm tall. The glass is dark, so there is basically no natural light, have to keep the lights on during the day, and it feels like living in a basement. The roof is leaking and water keeps dripping, making it impossible to sleep. I informed the front desk the next day, but when I came back in the evening, nothing had been fixed.

Three stars. Honestly if it wasn’t for the horrible shower drain flooding, I’d probably give it 4 or 5 stars. The first time I took a shower and the shower drain was semi clogged, and there wasn’t a high enough rim around the edges, so the water poured out and flooded the whole bathroom. Asked for the room to be changed, and I got a different room with the same problem. At this point I gave up and I just turned the water on for a few min at a time and waited for the water to slowly drain. Super annoying

Other than this, location was great and the room was modern and clean.

I booked the king size bed room but they didn’t give me king size bed and it was very uncomfortable. No sheer coverings on the window. We had to cover the window with thick curtains all the time. It’s like staying in the dungeon. No coffee machine. Very limited bathroom amenities. Can’t be 4 star hotel.

Great place but be ready to wake up to banging of things every morning starting at like 6.30-7am. Walls make it feel like they’re paper thin. Can hear everything outside of your door and as I said lots of banging early in the morning from the cleaners.

The hotel was easily accessible by metro and train, and also close to my car rental return. There are a lot of nearby restaurants and bars, and was safe and walkable at night. The rooms are spacious with tinted glass, making it great during the summer. The included breakfast is also filling - a great selection! I highly recommend the hotel, and would definitely book here again!

Exceptional Stay Near the Heart of Milan

I had a truly wonderful experience at this hotel. The room was super clean and modern, equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I especially appreciated the abundance of USB ports, electric sockets, fast and reliable Wi-Fi, and efficient air conditioning. Daily housekeeping was excellent—fresh towels, shower gel, and soap were consistently provided. They even let me borrow a clothes steamer to de-wrinkle my shirts, which was a thoughtful touch.

The location was ideal—just steps from the main train station and metro, making it incredibly easy to access Milan’s key sights and plan day trips to other parts of Italy. The area had plenty of fast food outlets, restaurants, and shops nearby, which added to the convenience.

The reception team truly stood out. Every single staff member I encountered was friendly, welcoming, and consistently acknowledged me with a smile as I entered or left the hotel. Their warmth created a genuinely pleasant atmosphere and made me feel appreciated throughout my stay.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfort, connectivity, and great service in Milan.

This was our 2nd stay at Smart Hotel Milano. The hotel is conveniently located near the train station. Although not large, the room was well laid out. The hotel staff was fabulous. Our only complaint was that the shower leaked a bit.

Luckily, I also put it on my phone or I could have missed my flight. It is dusty and not well kept. We will not be returning to this hotel.

I booked this hotel and never stayed here.. I was informed in my arrival that they moved me to another called HD8. No heads up about the change. Nothing offered for the inconvenience. The hotel that I was moved too, looked like a dungeon. The layout was horrible and scary because all the lights were off. Sensor light but scary. Don’t book your stay at any of these 2 hotels in Milan. My saving grace that I only stayed for 2 nights.

Stayed one night with family (myself, wife and 2 year old daughter). Can’t fault the location, metro just next to it. Service was brilliant with very helpful staff, allowed me to check in early as I had arrived early so staff at the check in asked for our room to be ready first so that we could check in which was a big help for us. Room was decent size, good amenities, however breakfast wasn’t upto the standard expected as the rest but still it wasn’t that bad. Will defenitely recommend the place, the price, location and hotel is clean and very friendly and helpful staff.

The design of the bathroom is really bad. The motion-detect light would automatically switch off after 2 minutes, and we constantly needed to move out of the shower area to reactivate the light. The bad design of the shower also means that water would come out of the shower and flood the bathroom towards the door. It is evident that the door is swollen due to regular soaking.

The room is also not completely soundproof. We can hear the noise of the chair moving in the adjacent rooms.

Only 2 small negatives: the walls doors are heavy and slam easily, which shakes all the walls, which was quite disturbing during the night.

There is no comfortable chair in the room, and the supplied bar stool is not suitable for relaxing. On a positive note, the room was cleaned very well. The hotel is conveniently located to Centrale Station, which is great of using the Metro or train as there an underground stop within 50 feet of the front door. The rooms are clean and updated, although the walls in the room had taken some abuse. The housekeeping was quick and thorough. The check in was quick and friendly and they stored our bags before check in time. The room itself was a bit noisy as people moving in the rooms above and beside could be heard as well as closing of doors at all hours. Some type of alarm also went off 2 pit of the three nights we were there.

This place should not be a 4 star hotel. The rooms had very basic amenities. We were given one pillow for each person. The bed was uncomfortably hard. The front desk was neither welcoming nor informative. They really did the bare minimum here. It felt like a 2 or 3 star hotel at best. There are many hotels near the Milano Centrale and we would not recommend this one.
