cheap but rooms are old and need renovating, bathroom was not clean just surfaces being wiped, towels not good either. Beds were also very very hard. limited privacy and clean air due to the open design of all rooms facing each other and many people smoking around in other rooms. Gardens and Pool were very nice and staff were also very good and very helpful, so if your on a tight KUTA budget its OK.

Mediocre experience at Bali Summer Hotel

Room a little run down, power point beside bed not working. Only one power point to run fridge and kettle, had to unplug fridge to boil kettle. Hotel did not arrange transport from airport even after 3 emails requesting they arrange. Also did not change to ground floor unit when asked by email and had to spend 10 minutes at check in arguing about it.

The central location and the courtyard grounds of the hotel are great. Easy access to all of the main areas and the beach, as well as eateries and bars.

The rooms leave much to be desired. This hotel opened in 1990 and you can see it has not been updated since then. Our initial room had a shower over a bath, and the water would become lukewarm only after the water running for at least 10 minutes. Then, the bath would fill up whilst you were using the shower (no, there was no plug in there) and it took a long time to drain. One day, we had come back to see that our room hadn’t been cleaned (and we had been gone on a day tour since 8am) and the bath was in a state, so we asked to move rooms because of the shower situation. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and moved us to the room directly next door, even offering to help us move our things.

The next room had a walk in shower, but even the glass on this looks as though it hadn’t been properly cleaned/descaled in a long time. In general, the whole place is just very rundown and a bit grubby.

In addition, the towels all stink of smoke (even after having them changed) and the bedsheets are all stained with what looks like old blood and I’m unsure what else. There’s also limited power points in the rooms so you may want to consider an extension lead.

The staff were great and any time we asked for help (moving rooms, booking a taxi, extending our checkout) they were very helpful and informative.

When traveling with medium to large luggage, especially as a solo female traveler like myself, using stairs can be inconvenient due to the absence of an elevator. Seeking assistance from the staff is an option. However, in my room, I encountered difficulty unlocking the door using the key provided by the employee, possibly due to the hotel's age and antique decor. Despite this, I appreciate the charm of the vintage design that I deliberately chose. The bed and mattress were comfortable, clean and the bathroom met my basic needs. The hotel's location is convenient for walking, with close proximity to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment venues. The night shift staff I encountered were helpful, though communication required some effort due to language barriers. Being Asian myself, I understand and appreciate the challenge of conversing in a non-native language. The morning staff was helpful.

Read well but disappointing.

Hotel is in a good location. It is neat and tidy with a great outlook from the balcony.
The room I was in was looking tired. There were marks on the walls, the linen and towels had seen better days, they were clean but marked in places. The most disappointing aspect was the bathroom. The water was difficult to manage the temperature, it came through very hot and then trying to adjust it with cold using the mixer it went cold and then back hot again. Needed to spend 5 minutes adjusting until I could get a reasonable temperature, by this stage the water flow out of the rain shower head was minimal. The shower curtain had seen better days also.
The other issue I had was that rooms were not serviced daily, the longest I went without the room being cleaned was 4 days.

First, I requested a room with a bathtub and was told “no we don’t have any in this hotel” even though it’s pictured.
Second, all the sheets were stained, there was no fitted sheet on the bed and there was writing on the wall.
Third, I did not feel safe at all, it’s super sketchy

As a young girl traveling alone, I would not recommend going here.

The shower situation was a bit dangerous in that the hot water came out scalding and took at least five minutes before I could work with it to get it to a suitable temperature. Because I arrived at the Hotel after a very busy day and really needed a shower- I was too tired to mess with it and just went to bed. I asked them about it the next day and I guess that’s how the system works. I feel there should be some kind of warning and maybe instructions about it. Other than that everything else was good.

Not even worth the cheap price. The only good thing I can say about this property is the location. When we arrived there was no record of our booking . Finally got into the room and the bathroom was hideous. Extreme mould , stained towels and bed sheets, the bed head looked like it had been dragged out from a crime scene. The pool bar- well that was just empty shelves and not even in operation. Breakfast buffet? not sure a choice of either eggs, toast or rice is considered a buffet?

The hotel is in a really great area it’s about 5 minutes to the beach and lots of bars and restaurants around. The room was ok but the bathroom really needed work done it just did not look like a bathroom I’d want to use. Also when I arrived the room walls had some not so great looking stains on it. It wasn’t a bad hotel but lower your expectations from the photos of the rooms provided because mine was pretty different from what was shown. I’d still stay again though

The first couple of day I felt the place was a bit run down and had problems with my room ( smelly, shower didn’t work and room I booked wasn’t ready when I got there. Very cheap room to leave bags, have a nap and shower for half a day before flying out. Excellent location in the heart of Kuta close to the airport for a final afternoon in Bali. Bathroom not the greatest condition, tv fuzzy with limited channels and wifi kept dropping in and out - but can’t ask for much more with the price paid!

Had to change rooms immediately - cupboard was full of roaches and dust, toilet & fridge didn't work.. changed rooms - shower had to run around in to get wet - showered daily with roaches, room was cleaned daily, bathroom floor mat was left for the entire 9 day stay. I arrive at the hotel and after waiting 15-20 min ( front desk agent was asleep in the back office) I was advised no record of my reservation. I sent them the hotels.com confirmation via email and i was given a very outdated room with 2 single beds (after paying extra for deluxe room}.
Next evening I saw a cockroach in my room, I went to front desk to complain and they put me into a nicer room on 3rd floor.. few minutes later saw a cockroach in this room.. I called to complain and they sent some guy up to see if he can see it..
The aircon (air conditioner) is so outdated it doesnt blow any cool air into the room only if you stand directly underneath of it..
When they cleaned the room i recieved \"fresh towels: one towel was stained... I also discovered when they clean the room they do not change the bedding.. makes me wonder if they do in between guests.
The mini fridge wouldnt close so all the ice was melting all over the floor....
One night i went for food late night and the front desk agent was asking me who i was and why i would leave the hotel so late at night..

Good buffet breakfast with egg station, good WiFi, good service, clean pool, great restaurant with Band at night, quite and clean room, rain shower and deep bath tub. The gardens are immaculate and the fish ponds are beautiful. The Hotel is a short walk to Kuta's shopping centre, 250 meters to the beach and nightlife.This is the third time we have stayed here.

Great Hotel close to everything in Kuta

Solo traveler. Just needed somewhere close to the main area of Kuta and the beach. I have stayed at many hotels in Bali from 5 star to 2 star. The summer was very good value for the price. I got a renovated ground floor room which was really roomy and updated. The reception and restaurant/bar are at the front of the property shielding the rooms from the busy road. The pool is small but nice and warm, not freezing when you jump in. The pool is behind the restaurant but far away from the rooms to not notice people swimming. So the accomodation is in a U shape 3 stories high. In between the two sides of the building there are some awesome koi ponds very relaxing. There is no safe in your room but you can store your valuables in a lock box at reception. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Many many good restaurants everywhere around the summer. Hardly need a taxi for anything. One little disappointment was the breakfast. As others have said, you can have eggs cooked as you please, I had an omelette each morning with some toast. Orange juice and coffee were there and also a couple of Asian dishes and some fresh fruit. Enough to get you by. Plenty of great massage places everywhere and local market stalls. Short walk to waterbom park and discovery shopping centre. I did have an issue I booked what I thought was the upgraded ground floor deluxe but on arrival I was on the unrenovated side. I asked to be put on the renovated side. It cost me an extra$100 Australian for 11 nights

We initially stayed in the standard rooms, however I would not recommend this and to rather upgrade to the deluxe rooms which are on the left side of the hotel that has been renovated.
The rooms have been renovated well and are very spacious - however the cleaning staff need to do a better job as the walls are getting dirty, the shower curtains need to be kept clean and replaced regularly. A bit of bleach down the toilets would be great..
The location is fabulous and the staff are great. They happily stored luggage for us while we were away for a few days. Thank you!
The buffet breakfast is changed up a bit every morning - you can have eggs any style made at the egg station. Then of course a rice or noodle or vegetable dish, fruit dish and juices. It was enjoyable.
The pool is nice - it is a shame that the pool bar is not in operation with some light music as this would certainly add to the atmosphere. Perhaps it was because the hotel was not fully booked.
But overall good value for money!

The rooms are pretty old. The bathroom is not so clean like toilet bowl has noticeable stains and the bathtub is a bit rusty. They only have gew choices of breakfast foods on their restaurant. Television did not work after few days of our stay.

Close to beach and Kuta shopping. But the hotel is getting a bit tired and dated and this end of the market is very competitive. I was in an upstairs room in the old wing and was quite an effort getting the luggage up and down. One wing has recently been extensively renovated but I was not offered a room there. For me it's a case of better value elsewhere after this being my third and last time there.

Back again (about my 8th stay) and as always it was a great stay at Bali Summer Hotel .. Staff always friendly (including new staff since March) , pool always clean and food reasonably priced and of good quality .
There was a mix up with the Garden room we booked but was rectified in a matter of minutes so not a complaint ,just worth a mention .
Band nightly at 8pm were interactive and lots of fun .

An older hotel which is maintained exceptionally well. Pillows were super comfy but I found the bed a bit hard for my liking. Exceptional service from staff. Very clean but I did have to ask housekeeping to change sheets and bath mat. Fantastic location. As a solo female traveler I felt safe. Would recommend for budget accommodation.

Great location, however only half of the hotel rooms have been renovated. photos when booking online are of the newly renovated rooms, however on arrival we were given the older rooms. We had to pay extra to move across to the renovated side. Pool clean however non operational swim up bar. Breakfast options were very basic.

Breakfast very disappointing, not much choice or selection. Pool very clean. Rooms dated and not that clean, although rooms are cleaned daily. Bathroom tub stained, shower curtain disgusting. Small garden patio is lovely. Staff Really very lovely and helpful. This hotel just needs a good coat of paint in the rooms, and breakfast needs to at least offer cereal and fresh milk not long life... restaurant is nice and quite clean.

Wonderful place, 1 block from Kuta Beach

I was here last year and came back this year, and hope to return next year. Rooms on the ground floor wonderful, super clean, cooked-to-order breakfast, clean pool, and 3 minute walk to the beach. The staff is very helpful. It is a quiet oasis in bustling Kuta. Nice live music in the bar/restaurant in the evening.

There are a couple of small issues (leaky toilet , sink drains slowly) but if you're paying between $25-$38 a night then there's really nothing to complain about .
Staff are always fantastic both in the bar and around the hotel .
The pool is always clean and you can have your food and drinks brought out to you at the pool .
Over all another great experience at Bali Summer Hotel .

Hotel quality and standard was equivalent to bali 20 years ago.
Hotel wouldn't entertain the idea of transferring us to a better/cleaner room (however told Expedia the contrary)
We checked out after the first night. The hotel was prepaid and didn't offer any refund or compensation.

Very average, they had new rooms but put us in the old room, 3 floors up and no lift. Complained about a tiny meal served to me, waste of time, even the shuttle bus to the airport, he didn't have any change, most of the staff were good, good breakfast.

Not happy at all. Room were not the same as expected and different from the pictures we saw on your advertisement. Very poor in hygiene, bedsheets and towels smells. Water shortage in shower bath, rust at the bathtub. Old TV need to wait 15 minutes for the pictures to show. Bed was terrible. AC in the room very noisy. Excellent Budget Hotel

This was my second visit to Bali Summer and found it excellent again. I stayed in the old rooms as they are doing up rooms so I presume they will all be redone. The new rooms look lovely and my room was still excellent for the money. They have a restaurant out front for breakfast and if you do not want to go far you can always have a meal there. It is very handy to everything in Kuta especially Matahari supermarket. The staff are always pleasant.

Dust and noise from about 9am to 6pm. Flying debris another issue. Completed rooms were wonderfully appointed. Don't go til finished..about December/Jan.

Air conditioning was terrible, we were sweating lying down with aircon on full but after a bit of waiting around the reception staff gave us a choice of two other rooms in which we choose the one with the best airconditioning so were really pleased and grateful with that. Also i needed an adapter for our plug and the staff hunted around for one for us, so very gratful for the staff who tried their best to fix any of our problems.
The bathrooms were some what dated but had been cleaned, dont agree with bath mats being placed over toilet seats. All in all was ok stay and we slept well thanks to the staff allowing us to swap rooms.

On arrival given incorrect room as to bookin no other room available. Smell in room think it may have been due to massive mould growing on ceiling. Smell in the tap water, shower head partially blocked. Hand held shower with one settin alright if you are 5 foot tall, pool unavailable for 3 days. Location great staff great restaurant great for the price this is wat u get. Hotel partially torned down and bein rebuilt.

I came in early and the check in time was 3pm. They were nice enough to find me a room, (it was 8am). Pretty grounds and fairly quite. Good people watching from the restaurant. I would stay here again. There was one wing going through construction so keep that in mind.

Upon check-in, the staff had to combine the two single beds together because we requested a queen-sized bed. When he pushed the bed, it revealed a dead cockroach underneath. Okay maybe that wasn't so bad but it surprised us that the staff ignored the bug and left it there. At least he could do was sweep it clean. The shower room looks old. Breakfast needs more variety.

Great location near the beach

We initially checked in and our room grade was not available, yet confirmed. We were placed in a family room as an upgrade...but essentially it was not an upgrade, just had an additional bed and was a very old basic room. We moved room in the morning to our booked level and ended up in one of the 6 new rooms they have just added. These rooms were immaculate. Brand new facilities and updated furnitures. Awesome change and value.
The other balcony rooms available are of good standard but not like the new ones. The family room needs to be a storage room only. Not fit for use! Breakfast was included. Was pleasant enough with eggs to order, toast, juices, cereals and fruit platter as well as a starch dish that changed daily between noodles and rice and local delicacies. Not a high standard but acceptable.

I would stay again in the ground floor balcony rooms or of course the new ones..but nothing else. overall a good enough stay for the price...but not great. Staff were awesome apart from front desk...english wasn't great and they said no to a 30 min extension of check out time...to 1230pm...

Rooms are old and grubby. Very hard, old, stained mattress. Sheets were very grey instead of white and did not fit the bed. Bathroom was not clean with hair strands left around the floor drain hole. Leaking air conditioner, water all over the floor.

Nice Hotel good Price

Great location, walking distance to the beach and loads of shopping. Room was clean and tidy, tiny leak in the bathroom but wasnt a huge deal. Staff are very friendly, the bar/resturant had great food. Would definitely stay here again.

Rates equal to room quality. Needed to be cleaned properly (walls dirty etc) But you get what you pay for but I was only needing a bed and a shower at the end of the day.

We were very disappointed with our stay, the original photos on the web site in no way represent the rooms we were given or saw, all previous reviews we read, indicated that better cleaning was required. We found dirty tea and coffee cups, a very old fridge that had thick black mold around the door which was on an angle with a brick holding on side up? The air conditioner was not cool at all and dripped water over the back of the TV, we complained about this a number of times and did ask to be moved with no joy. On the good side the pool area is comfortable though does not accommodate more than 10 people. The advertised pool bar is never open.

Dirty sheets

It's obvious they didn't change the bed and pillow sheets. They are all used before. I had to cover the pillow with my scarf, otherwise I couldn't sleep because of the stinky smell from the pillow sheet.

Great for a cheap room!! Central!!

Paid $30 for this room and it came with breakfast. Decent for the price and would stay again. You get what you pay for and although it wasn't 5 star- i was impressed for the price I paid. Room was clean. Basic ammenities and pool. Staff were friendly and reception open 24hours. Central Kuta. Shopping, Kuta Beach and massages walking distance.

You definitely get what you pay for here

This is for the budget conscious traveller. I recomend getting the most expensive room, luckily I did, I would hate to see their cheapest. Bed was comfortable , room was clean , aircon worked and the shower had hot water. Staff at hotel were great they always greeted me with a smile. Restaurant attached to hotel provides breakfast, rudimentary breakfast that is. It will keep you alive but I think they at least need to add cereal and sausages to their menu. I stayed for a week and enjoyed myself.

Good location

Small true bali hotel. Nice size rooms and good location. Air conditioning not that good. Pool has no atmosphere and is a lot smaller than photo. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. Cheap but not the place.

On the day of arrival we were shown to our room, the floor was dirty and the bed had huge stains all over it. The next day while we were out the staff cleaned the room, they had taken both towels and did not replace them. When we asked for new towels the staff we rude and bluntly told us to wait in the room which we did for the next 45 minutes until they were delivered, this would have been acceptable had it only been a one time occurrence but it was a daily problem.

Worst Hotel I've Ever Stayed in

I wouldn't wish my worst enemy stayed at this hotel. I'm reasonable - I knew that for the price it wasn't going to be 5-star luxury. But of the 3 rooms our group had, all had major problems. In one room, the toilet flush lever was lucky to work once a day, oversized cockroaches were spotted walking around the floor, the TV remote did not work and the only channels anyway were all Indonesian and the shower curtain was nothing but mould. Not to mention the shower water pressure, which was little more than a trickle. Then we had an issue that one of the lights in our room would not turn off whichever way you flicked the switch. At 4am, our only option was to remove the globe ourselves. On 3 of our six days, housekeeping took our towels and did not replace them. We had to go to the front desk to ask them to be replaced - that's because the phone in our room did not work but was simply there for decoration. And every morning at 7am there would be construction works loudly going on outside - not something we were warned of at time of booking. The 'Deluxe' room bathrooms do not look anything like the photos - they are dirty and old. And there is no pool bar As the photos would have you think. The only good thing about this hotel was the wifi - however while fast it regularly dropped out. All in all, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. There are far better options for the same price in Kuta.

Booked for 15 nights stayed for 3 was not impressed with the hotel at all no hot water no working air con and water comes through light fitting

Bali Summer Hotel

Bali Summer Hotel is right in the center of kuta and it is just 10minutes walk away from the beach. It is surrounded by shops and restaurants so getting hungry is never an option. The hotel all in all was ok. The lobby and the swimming pool for me was excellent it is just that the water in the pool was extremely cold. The room where we checked in was a little bit old and rusty but it was big enough you're not gonna stay in the hotel room by the way so it will be totally fine. The breakfast buffet was not really great. Just don't expect a buffet style from a 5star hotel where you got everything. They only offers fried rice, egg station, toast, porridge, coffee and tea. Very limited choices but again if you only want something to fill in your stomach before your long day starts, then again you will be fine. We stayed for 3nights and the amount we paid was good enough. I recommend this hotel if you are really on a budget.

Great position

Had a couple of problems but changed rooms and all good. Staff friendly but not great English from some, especially front desk but better than my Indonesian. Some rooms need updating and others alright. Breakfast was the same everyday and was nice but could definitely do with an update. Overall enjoyed our 10 days and would stay again (but maybe not first choice)

Great location

great location, great decorated and good price.
but the first double room we staying was terrible aircond not cold and noisy.
the toilet a bit old.
After we change to twin bed room that was much better, the air cond in good condition and toilet is updated.

Great people, great spot.... not so great rooms

The staff are a delight, the location (assuming you want to be central) is perfect, the restaurant has good food and GREAT live music.

The rooms are... 2 star at best.
