DO NOY STAY HERE! This hotel had closed down and for some reason “reopened”. I get that it’s not the employees fault, they are doing the best they can, but I absolutely would not recommend! And this, is after they had changed us to a “better” room. Please save yourself the hassle and headache.

I will not return

It's a nice building but with a lot of opportunities in maintenance. The experience at the reception was really bad, I made the checkin on line, but any way we we forced to fill the same form at frontdesk. The access to the room is quite complicated, there is no elevator and you need to go over some stairs with your luggage, no help from the staff. When we entered the room, no towels, soap or
toilet paper. When we asked for them we received a bad mode response. We only received good treatment from the
Waitress and the restaurant staff., the food is good.

Incredible that the elevator didn’t work, and the bell boy told us that more than 6 months have passed without working, my wife is pregnant and our room was in 5th floor, thanks that we only spent one night, the hotel needs a renewal, and the towels are too old

El hotel es viejo y tiene muchas fallas. Tuvimos que ser reubicados de habitación ya que la puerta no cerraba con llave y la regadera no servía. El staff es amable pero no dan la información completa y crean confusión. Las fotos de la propiedad habrán sido tomadas varios años atrás pues se ve muy distinto. Misión ya no es lo que era antes.

The hotel was fine overall. The poll was dirty. The first room they gave us has trash in the bin, no shower curtain and a dirty toilet. They changed our room. The worst thing that happened during our stay was that around midnight, when we were sleeping, another guest came into our room with an actual key to our room. The staff had messed up the keys, deactivated mine, and assigned it to another guest. That was very scary and the staff barely apologized for the incident

Be careful with your credit cards. The young man at the reception desk took our credit card information and that of a few other guests and recorded the information on his cell and whatsApp’d it!! My 83 year old father was one of the victims. Please be careful and reconsider your stay or do NOT give them your credit card information. We were there over the weekend for a wedding and called the police when we realized this had happened. The police officer took him in but we would have had to remain at the police department several hours to make our statements and we had a wedding we had to attend to so didn’t have the time. The next morning, the kid was back at the front desk!!!! They take all of your credit card info including security code at the back and then take your address and birthdate from your registration process and save it in WhatsApp. The kid at the front desk claimed this was Hotel
Procedure and claimed he was using a hotel cell phone!!!

Me pareció un poco elevado el precio para el tipo de hospedaje, es poco accesible para gente con limitantes de movilidad, no hay elevador.. esta bastante retirado del centro de Guanajuato.
Todo lo que sucede alrededor de la habitación se escuchaba, quejidos, gente corriendo, gritando, fiesta, etc... no fue facil dormir

Charming, pleasant stay

We stayed at Mision Guanajuato in February and it was very quiet at that time. The atmosphere of the hotel was lovely; with charming architectural and decorative accents. (Incongruously, the sink in our bathroom was falling apart, but this was our only complaint about the furnishings).
The hotel was clean; the restaurant food was delicious; cafe de olla offered in the morning was a nice touch. Wi-fi was spotty for one person in our party (two couples).
Being located just outside of the city center probably contributed to the peaceful atmosphere...being located next to the Ex-Hacienda was a bonus and a must-see!

The Mision Guanajuato is a traditional hotel on a location now a bit far from the main historical area due to traffic. Rooms and common areas show its age, but rates are usually attractive considering some improvement needs. Accommodations offer a nice living space with standard amenities, but we had some problems with the hot water supply. The attentive staff provides warm and helpful service. However, since it is somehow isolated, so you have to organize for meals because the restaurant’s food taste is not commendable, and prices are relatively high.

Worth the experience at a competitive rate.

To rate this place one must keep an open mind. The deadbolt to the door didn’t work, the door to the bathroom didn’t close, and it’s without question dated. BUT, it was clean, interesting, and not uncomfortable. Depending on current living standards and level of expectations this place might be a zero, but for most of us looking to have a safe, (there was a chain on the door BTW) clean, authentic experience to the local, a 3.5 is well deserved. Staff over
all friendly and Marina R. in the restaurant very helpful and friendly.

Great hotel in the outskirts of the central zone.

We enjoyed the pool which is perfect for kids and adults. The facilities are well kept and the staff is helpful and friendly.
We loved the café de holla in the mornings. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and and good variety of Mexican dishes.

If you are looking to stay at a hotel that has a lot of history then this is the place. It is right next door to a beautiful old ex hacienda. The beds were comfortable but the carpet in the room definitely needed to be cleaned or taken out. The bathroom needs to be updated as it is in poor condition. The restaurant was nice and food was ok. It’s a colonial hotel so you need to remember that during your stay.

Great potential, but too many issues

Misión Guanajuato is a beautiful property that has great potential to be a nice place to stay, but during our visit we experienced too many small issues (and one big one) to be able to recommend it. It took 40 minutes to check in (it took awhile to find out booking, and our room wasn't ready at the listed check-in time). When finally guided to our suite by a friendly porter, our room looked lovely, was comfortable and clean. The Wi-Fi was down and was never fixed - not a big deal, it happens. Halfway through the night, a smell of sewer came from the bathroom and penetrated the room - I checked and there were no visible issues, but the smell was strong. We shut the door for the night, refrained from showering, and reported the issue at check out. The desk clerk was unfazed and just handed us a review form so we could submit a written comment - it appeared this was not surprising news to him. We had hoped to eat breakfast before departing, but the restaurant that was supposed to open at 7:00 hadn't even turned on their lights by 7:20; we departed before they eventually opened. Hopefully the plumbing issue was contained to our room and will be addressed. The other issues were small and only bothersome as they accumulated. The nice location, parking and property features are great; hopefully management will resolve other issues and not rent out rooms with unresolved plumbing issues.

We received excellent customer service. The staff is very attentive. I recommend the tours from the Hotel vs the ones outside of town. The taxi rides vary for 70 pesos to 50 pesos. The taxis from the hotel are newer cars and very reliable. The town is not far from the hotel and its in a quieter setting not as noisy or busy like downtown Guanajuato. Great trip.

Bathrooms need updating. The carpets in our rooms were pretty old and seemed to greet us with a mildew smell. Overall value for money this was still a good deal but rooms could definitely use some updating. We ate in the restaurant a number of times and they have great food. Breakfast buffet is fantastic. At 175 pesos per person we should have bought it in to the room fare...great value there. Property as a whole is very cool and unique...one of a kind.

The hotel was good but the staff was very short and unfriendly. Only the ladies that clean the rooms were friendly. It was comfortable but it didn't had an elevator so I wasn't too happy to carry all my luggage up and down three levels.

The room is very austere . . . also the Air conditioner is not enough capacity to reduce the temperature is always working.
The towels are not enough only 2 bath towels , one hand towel and one face towel and look very old and discolored.
The bath soaps and shampoo are not enough, only one of each one.
It's not iron in the room and when I requested it, they not had any available . . . I never got one.
My room was in the 5 floor, they have elevator from the 3rd floor to the 5th floor and we need to take to many step on the stairway.

Gloria at the front desk was very nice and polite every time I would stop at the front desk to reactivate my keys or ask for a taxi or directions, etc. Very nice lady with excellent service skills.

In the other hand, the restaurant has a lot to improve. The waiters are nice staff, however, when getting to the restaurant it will take around 15 minutes for someone to ask if you needed coffee or anything. After ordering coffee, it will take them another 20 minutes to serve it and by that time they will bring the menu. Another 20 minutes for the waiter to show up and take your order and another 30-40 minutes for the breakfast to be served at your table. Breakfast is good and the waiting time is just unacceptable. After my 2nd day I just decided to have breakfast in the downtown area. Try them again on my last day & 6th day and again the same issue, plus they brought the wrong order. I was so furious that I just cancelled my order and walk away! Whoever is the General Manager, please this needs to improve big time. I have been working for hotels for 20 years as Dir of Sales in the USA and have traveled to Mexico and this is the worst experience I have ever had. Please fix it as you will get better reviews.

The hotel was in a good location, clean and the personnel were very helpful and polite. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the service was exellent. There is a beautiful museum across the street that you must visit, the gardens in the museum are breath taking. Overall I would recommend this hotel with no doubt.

Decent Property, Not a Tourist Location

The hotel itself is completely fine....always factoring what you're paying. Friendly staff, and thoughtfully dealt with my lack of Spanish speaking ability. The rooms and overall property is comparable to a mid-price US chain...it's not 5 star, but it's completely fine. Don't expect \"heavenly beds\", as they are pretty firm. The only thing I'd complain about is the breakfast.....I'm not a breakfast guy, but I was attracted by the wonderful smells from the kitchen....but my bubble was burst by the mediocre quality, and it was WAY over-priced for what they offered and how it tasted. As for location, it's not in the city center and nothing is within walking distance, but it's completely safe, and the town center is only a $3-4 dollar taxi ride away. For this reason the property is completely fine as an alternative to the budget and potentially sketchy small properties in the town center that book for about the same price.

They let us check in before the 3 o'clock check in time. Get there around 12 ir lateral snd the y erre fine with it. Allowed outside food and beverages. The beds were extremely comfortable and the restroom was nice. Hope to stay again soon.

It is an old Hacienda converted into a hotel, it gives you the feel of travelling back in time,
Bathrooms are just horrible, this day and age you expect some thing more upto the mark
Food was ok nothing out of the ordinary
The spanish captain Barrera's actual house and gardens are well worth a visit

The room was clean and spacious.
Bed matress was hard and bed pillows were not special at all.
The shower has a good pressure but it's small.
The entire hotel and its surrondings have a funky drainage smell but that is not a weird thing in Guanajuato.
The breakfast buffet was very good and cheap (we paid about 30 usd dollards for two).
I would not stay there for more of a night, maybe two.
Hotel employees were friendly and cordial.
