The staff lead by the wonderful manager Clement is fantastic. They helped us book tours, transportation and answered our many questions. The hotel is a gem & the surrounding area fantastic. My husband left a camera charging stand and they even sent it to us. Can’t wait to go back!

Vastly overpriced for an average stay

This is a beautiful Normandy-style historical property located across from the Deauville beach and close to the center of town. The reason we picked that property over similar ones was the Diane spa. We were however very disappointed by the indoor pool that was much smaller than it appeared to be on the hotel website and in dire need of renovation. The wall showers outside the hammam and sauna were broken, and only half the private showers were working properly; many of the lockers were also not working. But the two massages we booked were great and the staff at the spa was very nice.

Gorgeous hotel but found that the service was lacking; the restaurant was very long and the food was mediocre. Our mini-bar was not replenished for more than 2 days, our espresso machine was broken. I asked repeatedly for it to be replaced (over a 4-night stay) and it never was. The room service team was very slow to pick up dishes/ clean the hallways often filled with many trays. The bathroom was in desperate need of renovation.

Fabulous stay in Deauvile!!

5 star hotel in Deauville. At first a bit doubtful about the value for money, but friendly staffs (all English speaking), nice breakfast, clean rooms, good location… all met our expectations! Would like to come back!

Well positioned but tired “family resort”

The hotel is in need of a revamp. It is not up to standard of the general expectation of a 5 star establishment. Avoid if couples or single. The hotel is geared towards a “family resort” feel with a children’s club and related amenities. The staff were very friendly and always willing to assist. Great location - central and walking access to the beach and casinos.

Having stayed at the Barrier group in Le Touquet and in Cannes we decided to book a deluxe room at Le Normandy. We received a very friendly welcome when checking in and decided to upgrade our room to a sea facing at minimal cost really but with much bigger bed. The Belle Epoque restaurant is highly recommended over Christmas with a greta choice of sea food including lobster. The hotel bar has a lovely ambience to it with a friendly pianist. The cocktails can be pricy but I suppose that is what is takes to keep out all the tourist that want to visit the bar during Christmas :-)
Overall a good experience and a lovely town full of good French and Italian restaurants. The beach is also fantastic, even in winter.

Time travel!!

We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed all the amenities of the hotel, indoor pool, kids club, etc. The meals are very over priced, notably breakfast, so it is important to think ahead about restaurants in the area like Trouville. Otherwise, it is a great getaway, and you feel a bit lost in time!

The location was great. View of the Channel, walking distance to shopping and great restaurants.
Reception staff could be more welcoming. However, we were very happy to see all the staff with American Flag pins on their lapels.

Nice location. Good environment inside.
But... it is not a 5-star hotel. I have been all over the world and this is maybe a 4-star. Rooms are only ok. No great comfort, no great service. No good surprises at all.

BAD:
- Charged me twice for the same night (if I hadn't noticed... bye bye 1000 dollars)
- Prices are ridiculous (I paid because I thought it would be an amazing hotel)
- Air Conditioning in one of the rooms not working; matress so soft I was falling out of the bed.

Save your money for the great restaurants in Deauville.

Our room was amazing and amenities were on point. Right next to beach and casino. Many restaurants and shops nearby. A bit pretentious and snooty staff at check in but stay was amazing. Site should indicate that you need to reserve parking if you wish to park with hotel. Website says they have parking and so we expected parking when we arrived only to find out the parking was full and you needed to reserve. It was inconvenient to look for street parking with so many people in the city. In room nespresso was fantastic.

5 star Normandy Barrierre

The Normandy is a worthy 5 star hotel, we were treated as special guests, which always makes a holiday memerable. It is not our first visit to the hotel, so we know this was not a one off.
If your going to Deauville then this is a great place to stay

In deauville for the weekend. Hotel v pleasant though expensive (33 euros a night to park). Indoor pool disappointing, good for children. Would recommend the area. Convenient situation. Some of the restaurants a bit fancy/pretentious. Honfleur lovely to visit.

very disappointing and unsafe

The attention to service was very poor for such a hotel and for these prices. It all felt very impersonal. But more seriously there was a fire alarm at night and I had to kick a fire door open as it was jammed and then we found ourselves in a locked inner courtyard. The ineptitude of the staff to deal with the alarm was astonishing and while the duty manager listened to my complaint the next morning I have a strong feeling nothing will be done.

8 PERFECT DAYS

My wife and I wanted to visit the Normandy region of France. We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Barriere le Normandy Deauville. It was luxurious with superb service. The room was elegant and kept very clean. Even the bed was exceptionally comfortable and easy on our backs.The main restaurant was excellent, with the highlight their Sunday Brunch. Every staff member was courteous and friendly. The location of the hotel was not only central to the the shops and restaurants of downtown (walking distance), but just across a street from the beautiful beach and the Deauville Casino. It was also central to exploring the region. In a rental car, we took day trips to the Normandy Beaches/American Cemetery, Rouen (Cathedral and oldest Restaurant in France), and Giverny (Monet's home and garden).

We had no problems at all, except from our server, who we felt served French people instead of us (non-French, clearly). We watched him continually serve others food and drink and neglected to bring us two simple drinks within 25 minutes. Very poor. Sadly, service was included, so we had little professional recourse. It's a shame, as everything else was perfect, but this sticks out in our mind.

Overrated property. Had the smallest room even though I booked a delux room. Much smaller than website pics. Looked at other rooms but all had problems. Then I was told our room had not been renovated yet. Peeling wall paper and paint. Room was so small, had no place to open a suitcase. I was also told they had upgraded us to a deluxe room until I told them that is what my reservation was for.

Nice hotel in a beautiful town

This hotel is in the posh neighborhood of Deauville.. There are many high end shopping in the area as well as a couple nice restaurants. It is about 20 min walk to the busier part of the town with more restaurants bars etc.. The hotel is from 1912 but well maintained and renovated with modern bathrooms and facilities. Rooms are clean and reasonable size.. The only thing to complain about is the staff. Not very friendly and make you feel like you should never bother them with a question or a request. Definitely not at par with the ervice reasonably should be expected at a five star hotel..

Beautiful Hotel on the Beaches of Normandy

Really nice hotel. We got there on Bastile Day. Everyone was helpful especially the Concierge that helped us book a car and have it delivered to the hotel. Food was great, but hey, this is France so of course it is. Older hotel so the elevator space is limited. Great stay though. Thanks.

I have stayed at the Hotel Normandy almost every year for 30 years...the hotel has been redone and the rooms and amenities are far less desirable than previously and certainly not what one would expect for a 5 star hotel.

Was really disappointing considering the price we paid for a room there, The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and had everything you need. The Hotel itself however was absolutely stunning but unfortunately our room just killed the entire experience for me.

Classic Deauville hotel, across street from beach

We had a lovely experience at the Normandy Barriere, which was referred to us by a local. It is a beautiful, old classic hotel, current with very comfortable beds, and exceptionally helpful staff. We enjoyed using their bikes for pedaling around town and along the beach boardwalk. The pool was fine to relax at, and for the kids to splash around, though it is not suited for lap swimming. We did not try the restaurant at the hotel.

Charming stay by the beach

Located in a beautiful town, this charming hotel is all about comfort and class. Front desk was incredibly helpful as when we checked in our room was not ready, but they would call us when it was so we could explore the town. The hotel is right across the street from the beach, tennis courts, mini golf and more (although it was too cold while we were there).

Hotel makes a good centre for exploring the area

A pleasant hotel and very comfortable.We had a dinner which was well presented but
food was very poor . Breakfast each day had a huge selection which was good except
for the bacon which was overcooked and the scrambled egg was cold each day.

Be prepared to pay a large sum of money for the bar and catering !

A grand hotel but also a convention hotel, so you get a mix of leisure with business here. I had to change rooms after checking in as my room developed a persistent humming sound in the AC/fan system. I was moved to a sea-view room. Very accommodating staff, great bathrooms.

Normandy Barriere, chic hotel in classy town

My husband and I always stay at the Normandy hotel when staying in Deauville. It is a treat, it is not a cheap hotel but the experience of staying in this beautiful, elegant and timeless place is worth it. The location is perfect as it is right in the middle of the town and close to the beach. Treat yourself to nice food in some lovely seafood reataurant and have a walk in the town of Deauville with its nice shops. If you can travel, you are not far from Honfleur which is just so charming and picturesque with art galleries and craft shops.

Hotel Normandy Barriere has an exellent location - near the beach, Deauville's pool, casino, shopping area, caffes, restaurants.
we had standard room, but it was spacious and cosy. the small bottle of perfume \"hermes\" in the bathroom - very pleasant surprise.
the pool is very small, but it not important in july.
in general, everything was perfect.

The staff is very attentive and the hotel is very well kept. Perfect location with high end shops, beach, casino and proximity to historical locations in Normandy. You can't go wrong and you will be very happy.

Great hotel, esp with children

Regardless of your child's age, the hotel has services to watch your children during the day and will provide excellent babysitting services for the evening. A great indoor pool for rainy or cold days (which are very common in Normandy), and the staff was very accomodating to our daughter.
