Symon was an exceptional host, the breakfast each morning was fantastic it really set us up for the day. It was easy to get a bus into the center. If you want to walk it that is also doable takes about 30mins. Fabulous spot to go up to the Pub and have a nice meal. Location is perfect. The room and bed comfortable. Thsnks Symon for the great stay. It does have steps up to the room but not a problem for us.

We loved our stay!! The guest house is so charming and our room was beautiful. Bed was very comfortable and the room immaculately clean. Breakfast was delicious and we appreciated the cold water and snacks available outside of breakfast time. The guest house is in quick walking distance to the bus stops and Simon was very helpful with recommendations and helping us figure out how to navigate the town.
My favorite part was the lovely garden in the back. I spend an wonderful few hours reading in the relaxing garden.

A great location. Bus access to down town is one block over. In a very nice neighborhood. The host was so helpful with suggestions/recommendations. Great eating places/pubs within a quick walk. Simon helpful and friendly. Room was very nice though very small. Good job we are too. Impossible to dry oneself in the bathroom. Apart from that, the rest was “Perfect”. Bus services from Mayfield Gardens is far better and later night service than the 42 mayfield road one. The 42 does not run on Sundays or weekdays after 7:44 (last one from city centre). Breakfast was nice especially the haggis. We both slept well..Thanks Simon

We spent 6 nights here at the end of September 2021. We had a couple of nights in a smaller room at the rear but were upgraded to a lovely room at the front. The hotel is located about a 30 minute walk from the City Centre or there are bus stops nearby. There are also some nice restaurants within a 10 minute walk.

Just got back from a stay over a long weekend. Simon was very friendly and accommodating, and even helped with ideas for around Edinburgh and the journey home.
Room was very well stocked, clean and spacious - breakfast was also a welcome addition (and good!) before venturing into the city centre.
I can’t fault the location either, an easy walk to all the parts you’d want to visit in Edinburgh.

Wonderful service, and THERE’S A TORTOISE!!!!! Simon was super helpful, the bed was incredibly comfy, the breakfast was great, it was awesome! The only thing not so perfect was that there are no in room fridges so it might be a good idea to take a cool bag if you want lots of cups of tea, but there is a big fridge down the stairs. The patio/back garden area is lovely, quirky, and the resident tortoise Torres is just wonderful! The two restaurants Simon recommended were also excellent and incredibly good value. We probably won’t be back as we like to try out different places, but would 100% recommend. A lovely and great value getaway with fabulous service. Thankyou!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this guest house. We were greeted by Simon and his beautiful sausage dog. I would like to say thank you to Simon who made our stay special and his delicious breakfasts especially his omelettes always brought a smile to my face and good start to each day. Myself and my husband particularly liked the classy and grandeur interior, another factor which contributed to an all round experience was the location. Located in the Mayfield area this was ideal with half an hour walk within all the attractions and the city centre which kept us on our toes.
Another aspect to note was the attention to ensuring the guest house was covid safe within numerous hand sanitisers placed throughout the guest house.

Lauderville great stay at Christmastime
Lovely experience at Lauderville Guest House. Proprietors were warm, informative, interesting and highly guest service oriented. Rooms are small, and bathroom is truly a wonder of fitting in a tight space, but the beds are really comfortable, the house and street quiet, and all within a short 20 min walk to Edinburgh’s main attractions. The breakfast was also terrific and the coffee and tea sublime (especially to the jet-lagged traveler). Oh, did i mention the price is really reasonable? I give Lauderville my highest recommendation.

Lovely guesthouse within 20-30 minute walk to Edinburgh city, but also on a bus route if walking isn't possible. Parking in the side street next to the guesthouse. Rooms are small and bathroom tiny, but all very comfortable. Daily housekeeping. Delicious full English breakfast with plenty of choices cooked to order. Friendly family running the property. Was able to have some washing done (for a small charge) while we were out sightseeing.

The room I stayed for two nights is small, and a quarter of the room is used for the shower, toilet, and small wash basin; the window is facing the noisy main road where buses and cars run regularly (two way traffic), and even with the window shut I hardly slept the first night, and still couldn't sleep well during the second night (Sat. night)

Having stayed in 6 B&B’s during our trip to Scotland I felt there were aspects of Lauderville House that didn’t match the others. Being as objective as I can be the property is pleasing with nice bedrooms, bathrooms and dining area. The property also offers parking which in Edinburgh is a plus. When I booked the idea of staying in a 4 Poster Bed seemed novel but I failed to realise these rooms face a busy road. The noise was a clincher for me as I couldn’t get a good sleep. Breakfast was another area that didn’t match any of the other properties. The cold selection of fruits, meats etc were very average. The hot meals were OK but comparing it to our other 5 stays fell well short. I can’t say the property is bad as it isn’t, but I think for me I felt it wasn’t as welcoming or as friendly as the others, and the other two criticisms let it down. If you book this property and are sensitive to sound ask for a quiet room and don’t book a 4 Poster Bed.

Simon and everyone else at Lauderville Guest House were fantastic. From the moment I walked into the guest house I automatically felt at home. Trains shut down, stuck in Edinburgh and was so lucky to find this absolutely lovely guest house. Far above what I expected. Charming décor, inviting host, very comfy beds and superb breakfast. Truly one of my favorite guest house experiences ever! A warm welcoming staff. Quaint, modern, clean and very comfortable. AND, you get to choose from a traditional menu for breakfast and have it made to order. Very well done! Also, within a pleasant 10-15 min walk into the heart of Edinburgh. Delightful B&B, family run, very friendly and helpful. Clean, tidy and lovely decor couldn't fault anything. It's about a 25 - 30 minute walk to the center so a great location if you don't mind a short walk. Breakfast was good, the usual cereals and fruit etc plus a cooked menu and the poached eggs I had were cooked perfectly. All round a great place to stay, I would definitely recommend it and I will be going back when I'm next in Edinburgh.

For the more active Arthur’s Seat and the Salisbury Craggs are within walking distance. We spent a day visiting the Castle and shops and the following day walked up to the Seat and Craggs walking into the city afterwards for afternoon tea and more shopping.
Lauderville is ideally placed for all types of visitors.
