My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay. Great location close to public transport and a good mix of restaurants. We loved the hotel breakfast but would’ve preferred if they started serving at 6 AM instead of 7 AM just to make it easier to connect with morning tour groups.

This hotel is in a GREAT location. It is only a 5-15 minute walk to most of the touristy Royal Mile things. There is a Sainsbury's and a Costa Coffee right next door. And a bus stop right outside the doors (although we walked everywhere). The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. We weren't in the room much, except to sleep, and it was perfect for that.

We found the Ibis Hotel on South Bridge to be perfect for our stay in Edinburgh. The front desk staff were excellent, assisting us with booking a taxi and answering any questions. We appreciated the tea in our room daily. The all you can eat buffet breakfast had a great variety of options.

Great location and comfortable hotel. The staff was very helpful. We didn't do the breakfast but had a meal in the restaurant and the food was tasty and a good value for a hotel restaurant. The room was clean. The bathroom was a bit small but it was sufficient for what we needed. The location is convenient for sightseeing and shopping with lots of restaurants, coffee shops and stores nearby.

Overall a disappointing experience. Only nice thing was the convenient location. When we arrived with 3 heavy bags, the lift to carry the bags up was broken. So we were forced to carry them up the stairs. We found that the sheets we slept on gave us itchy skin and receptionist told us the sheets are only replaced once every 4 days.

Great little inexpensive place, not even a mile from Edinburgh Castle and so many other notable places. The staff here were amazing. I had a medical emergency and as a traveler it was a little concerning. Gary was very empathetic went above and beyond, helping me find the nearest pharmacy after a virtual MD appointment. I would recommend this Ibis location to any travelers, domestic or foreign.

I've rated this hotel \"okay\" which it was. A 10 min walk from Waverley Station. From reception to the room was quite convoluted as had to take 2 different lifts and signage wasn't great to the 2nd lift - through the restaurant and down a corridor. The staff were helpful though and the receptionist was friendly. We were able to check in early which was helpful and appreciated. The hotel felt slightly tired but it was generally clean. Better blackout curtains in the room would be good. The TV kept losing signal which was a little annoying (had to turn it off and on again).

The hotel itself had a feel that it was just kinda tired. Carpet in main entrance and halls could stand a cleaning. The room was clean but pergo floors starting to peel and drapes in rooms while worked well and great at blacking out light, were also kinda dirty. The bathroom was clean, but as another has said in a review, seemed like it was a pod from a cruise ship. Only two good size bath towels and no hand towels or washcloths. Initially no bathmat either but after a cleaning one was left. When walllight beside bed broke they did send someone almost immediately to fix the switch. If you use a sleeping device, know to bring an extension cord as no outlets near bed. Hotel works if you are not planning on being in the room much because the location is near train station and fairly close to bus station and walkable to many sites. A functional place to stay with courteous and friendly helpful staff. Would not be my first choice to stay if were in the city again.but if it was all that was available, I would not hesitate to book it.

The room had no facial tissues. When I asked at the front desk for a box of tissues, I was told that tissues are not provided, and I should use the toilet paper! The thinness and texture of toilet paper is NOT a suitable substitute for facial tissue. I went to a convenience store to buy my own tissues.

The hotel is very central to buses, tram and walking distance to many areas.
There is a market literally next door from the hotel.

The staff was absolutely wonderful.

Hotel was clean. I love that at night they close the revolving door & only hotel guests are able to scan into the hotel. Very safe.

I would definitely stay here again & I highly recommend this hotel for location, safety and staff.

The IKEA furnished hotel. All modular and undersized and “efficient “, very little shelf areas, no place to set things, the bathroom is undersized and does not fit a 6 foot tall person. Staff was friendly, breakfast great. Good location.

This is a pretty basic hotel for the prices they are charging. I must admit I was expecting something a bit less basic. Its all a bit soul-less. The room was clean. The sheet on double bed wasnt big enough for the size of bed. I asked for a bigger one, but no improvement, so I guess they have just skrimed on sheet sizes. The laminate floor in our room was lifting in places. The carpet in the halls looked a bit grubby. Overall good. But it really is quite expensive for what you get.

Hi! I came too early for check inreturned after sightseeing and was sent to a room twist and turns which took a long time to go on the 7 th floor !
I had to take like 10 minutes just to wait for elevator and go to the room
The bathroom was like it was ready to crumble flimsy attachment very noisy and unstable walk!
The shower hose fell many times loudly as I slept ! The bed had a piece under sheet ridiculous mattress protector which felt like anincontinent pad for the handicapped or a nursing home patient!
The toilet makes a lot of noise and air conditioning too! Very uncomfortable ! As I return at night the male staff look like I am trespassing! I got to show the key! They did not greet me cheerily and say how can I help you?
The food in the breakfast I was not keen on ! I barely filled my stomach! I had to go out searching to get a better breakfast after I paid for the hotel breakfastI will not stay with this company hotel again and pictures was misleading on the website!

Unfortunately, though the Ibis hotels as a concept aren’t bad, we had to wade through drunk locals to/from our hotel location. If you’ve a choice, stay at City Centre also, think “minimalist” — it’s affordable for a reason! But overall, you should only be in there to sleep, so it’s all good!

Ibis is basic but has everything you need, most importantly close to centre of old Town and everything within walking distance...staff are excellent and really friendly which makes it so much easier...rooms are small but ur not in the city for the hotel, ur there to see the city, so all you need is a good safe base, which this is...didn't eat there but menu looked alright....pillows are the only negative -its like a bag of socks!- nothing a few beers can't cope with but not sure how anyone who is serious about sleep will cope....but other than that all good, have stayed here 4-5 times so that should tell you everything

The hotel itself was excellent and clean. Unfortunately there was no hand towels and due to a lot of students that time we stayed, it was very loud, noisy, banging of doors and even knocking to our room. The staff were very kind and accommodating. They don’t charge for leaving your luggage even you haven’t check in and no charge too even you check out. The room is spacious but there was only one chair.

Great hotel in a prime location. Edinburg has lots of slope and difficult to park and drive so you want a hotel close to your sightseeing spot so that you can walk comfortably. Important for family with small child and elderly. Would stay here again if I need to be in the old town of Edinburg.

The room smelled permanently of dirty drains. The reception staff were excellent and eventually moved us to another room. If you are a coeliac don't even consider staying here. I rang the hotel to check they actually did gluten free food before I made the booking and was told they definitely did. When I went down for the evening meal and asked what gluten free was available I was told a salad because they don't have many coeliacs staying. Enough said.

The staff at this hotel were brilliant, they were very friendly, polite and helpful. This is the friendliest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. All the staff were happy. The location of the hotel is excellent, it’s less than a 2 minute walk to the Royal Mile and about 10 minute walk to the train station. The hotel is next door to a Costa coffee and a small Sainsbury’s. The hotel is very clean. We booked a double room which was very basic and could do with updating. I didn’t drink or eat at the bar but the setup look good. Overall I would definitely stay here again for the location and friendliness of the staff

Pro- The hotel is in a great condition a very short walk off the Royal Mile.

Con- I HATED the bathroom in the hotel room. It is in a pod style where there is a step up into the bathroom, a split shower door to your left that sprays water into the rest of the bathroom area through the holes in the glass that replace having actual handles, and obvious water damage to bottom of bathroom door from previous shower issues. The bathroom is horribly designed and was a huge negative during the stay.

Neutral- The front desk staff offered me a discount on breakfast if I added it at check in since I hadn't pre-booked. When I agreed the staff had a really hard time figuring out how to add the breakfast and it delayed check in significantly. Breakfast was fine but not great and wasn't worth the add on time or expense versus going to a nearby shop.
My room card also randomly deactivated which was really frustrating since the elevator requires a card to allow you to select a floor.
