We had a lovely stay at the Linton Collection Apartments over Christmas. This was our third year spending Christmas here and once again we loved it. The location is ideal, just off the Royal Mile, and the apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay — it really was a perfect Christmas.

We were especially grateful that the team kindly allowed us to check in and access the apartment a little earlier, which made a big difference. The only very small disappointment this time, was that we didn’t get our usual apartment facing Arthur’s Seat — something we’ll be sure to request next time. I think the wreath on the door is a lovely touch, but it would have been nice to have a small little tree inside the apartment even if it is just on the table. Overall, another wonderful stay and we look forward to returning again.

Great base for an Edinburgh adventure

This apartment was an excellent base for our trip to Edinburgh. There was plenty of room, and the full kitchen allowed us to decide when to eat out versus making something for ourselves. The combo washer/dryer also allowed for a simple clothing refresh when needed. The bedroom/loft was not ideal to access for the over 60 crowd. I would love to stay at this property during my next visit!

Location is in the middle of old Town. Rooms are in an old Church. Very unique in design. Roomy and comfortable. We were on third floor with stairs only, no elevator, so this may not be a good choice if you can not get your bags up stairs.

Fabulous location and ambience

Amazingly cute and quaint place in a PERFECT location right off of the Royal Mile. ONLY downside is there’s no lift (old building!), and the stairs are a killer with lots of luggage. But it was worth it!

Don’t let the front entry fool you, this place is beautiful and perfectly located for discovering Edinburgh’s lively historic landmarks. There are several flights of stairs, but is to be expected in this repurposed church building. So worth the climb! There is a fabulous Scottish tour company within footsteps that we used for a day trip to see castles. Beds were comfortable and the 2-full bathrooms were appreciated. Super responsive host with questions regarding luggage storage before and after stay. Thanks for a lovely stay ;-)

This hotel is on a quiet street off the Royal Mile. It was clean, spacious, and had plenty of amenities. Access to the building was easy and it was nice they provided luggage storage after check out. I loved the property because it was and old converted church-the windows were beautiful.

This was our favorite place we stayed in our entire 12 day trip. The location was perfect, the apartment was spacious and well designed, and the historic window was the cherry on top. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely flat! The bed was very comfortable, which I find to be important when staying in a hotel. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware if you wanted to cook instead of eating out. There were only a few things to complain about. The sofa had a few spots that needed cleaning, it was also extremely uncomfortable, and the shower was very slippery so proceed with caution. I ended up stubbing my toe pretty bad on the drain. Over all though, great property.

We had a terrific time in Edinburgh and choosing this place to stay helped in that immensely. The location to central Royal Mile doesn't get much better. The apartment had everything that you could think of. A full kitchen, coffee/teas, lots of linens, etc. Artisan pizza right next door (3 Blind Mice) was suggested by property and was fantastic as well. They will suggest your parking options, but keep that in mind for really ANY property in the Old Town--just an FYI. They have a very polished system for emailing, alerting, info, etc. I reached out to them and was replied to very quickly. Very nice and clean place to stay in a memorable city worth visiting!

Beautiful, spacious and well worth it!

The flat was beautiful! It had everything i needed. It was so spacious and I loved the way the sun would come in through the ornate windows in the morning. It was perfectly centrally located. Close to everything. I only wish i had been staying in Edinburgh longer to enjoy the flat even more.

Property was very pretty but my suite was on the 3rd floor and my bedroom was on the 4th. The stairs were really too much for me to handle. There should have been some information about this. It was nice to have a full kitchen and the space was quite comfortable. Other than having WAY too many stairs and no elevator, it was an enjoyable stay.

The linton collection was an excellent apartment block in a very good location just off the royal mile. There was a great speak easy type cocktail bar next door called the three blind mice and it was easy to walk to most actractions from the apartment. I would highly recomend the apartment as it had an excellent bathroom with a brilliant shower and free molton brown products to use. Great heating for winter stays and a fan provided if needed. The apartment had a Comfortable double bed and a lovely large lounge and kitchen area with a tv and washing machine. It is pricey to stay in Edinburgh but I think this apartment was worth every penny we paid for it and would deffinatly stay here again.

Although I am not a fan of properties with no on site staff, this one worked out. Not having access to email, I was able to call and get the information needed to check in. The man I spoke with was professional, understanding and helpful.

The place itself is terrific-immaculately clean, spacious and very comfortable with an onsite kitchen (only for small meal preparation) with an espresso machine, dishwasher and, most importantly, a washer/dryer which took a little time to figure out.

Close to Waverly train station on a quiet block. Highly recommend.

PROS: Great location in Edinburgh. Within walking distance of everything. Lots of shelving & storage. Well equipped kitchen. Check-in & out instructions were clear and communication was excellent. Showers were nice and roomy and plenty of hot water.

CONS: We requested a week in advance (like instructions told us to) for the sofa bed to be made up. I was told it would be put in my reservation file. We arrived and it was not made up. Luckily, there were sheets in one of the closets so we were able to make up the sofa bed ourselves. However, the sofa bed mattress was quite stained as was the extra comforter. Kind of gross. Picture of sofa bed looks a lot more comfy than it was. They had air freshener reeds in each of the bathrooms that were overpowering. We wrapped them both in plastic bags and shoved them in a closet. Had to request extra toilet paper a few times which was annoying. The pumps on the hand soap in both bathrooms were broken and did not work so we had to keep it unscrewed and just pour a bit out when washing hands. There was large amount/ pile of dust on top of the wardrobes and on the bottom of nightstands. It wasn't just a little it was a lot! Exhaust fan in one bathroom did not work.

Not really a con but the clothes washer is a washer/dryer combination unit. It was okay but not very big and dries VERY SLOWLY. Was difficult to do a week's worth of laundry for 4 people. Took forever and a lot of patience.

This property exceeded all my expectations. It was the perfect size and had every amenity that you could ever need! A full kitchen equipped with a stovetop, dishwasher, microwave/oven, and best of all, a washer/dryer. The bathroom was beautiful. The security/enter/exit system was great. As we had come from Canada, we did not have a phone to call but could email. Emsils wete returned promptly. We asked last minute for a late checkout and they were kind enough to let us stay an extra hour fir a minimsl fee. As far as the location goes, it is about halfway up the Royal mile, just 20 steps down a side street. Shops, restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, are just a short walking distance away. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to be in the heart of Old Town Edinburgh. It was magical. If I was to return to Scotland, I would book this property again, no hesitation.

First impressions are key and ours was terrible. We walked in the lobby area to find bags of dirty laundry and boxes of produce in the way. We could not even get by with our luggage. Really lovely space & location. Even though the festival was in mid flow, the road is relatively quiet and we were not disturbed. No microwave & mezzanine bed a little warm in summer, but otherwise perfect!

Awesome location. Close to dozens of good restaurants and bars. Enjoyed the size of the room because everyone had their own space to relax and unwind. The area felt very secure and easy walking distance from most inner city attractions. I will use Linton again on our next Edinburgh vacation

Wonderful location! Beautiful, clean and relaxing!

We selected this place because it looked different/interesting compared to trying to get \"just another hotel\". It was more like a rented apartment, with all of those amenities (washer/dryer, kitchenette, etc), which was amazing! I don't think the unit we got was what was in the photos, but it makes sense as it's a building of ~10 units that you are assigned from. Getting into the unit couldn't have been easier - it was secure but completely self-serve. It was also amazing that there is secure storage for luggage if you arrive or stay later than check in/out times.

Wow…couldn’t have been nicer. We stayed in apt 8 on the top floor & it looked just like it did in the pictures. Located steps from the Royal mile at about the mid point between Holyrod and Edinburgh castle. About a 10-12 minute walk from Waverly train station. Apartment had all of the amenities you could need including washer/dryer combo. Loved freedom of keyless entry. Be aware that there are many steps at this facility but you will find that steps are everywhere in Old town of Edinburgh. Bedroom is in loft up narrow staircase but there are handrails. We opted to leave suitcases in living area rather trying to bring upstairs. There are many places to eat in the area as well as Mini grocery & Pharmacy near by. Be sure to eat at least once at Maskar Gormet Mash. It’s about an 8 minute walk but so worth it!

Charming apartment oozing with character and style

We had a long weekend here in December and the apartment was beautiful, full of character, clean & comfy.
Close enough to be a minutes walk from the center, but far enough away to not have any noise from the main drag.

Hidden gem in the middle of everything. Clean, quiet, well designed space with all the comforts of an apartment. We travelled with family and stayed in the 2 bed/2 bath. Lots of room for everyone and never felt crowded. Pubs, shops, groceries, christmas market and castle all within walking distance. The staff were professional, kind and responsive to any inquiry. All around a wonderful stay in Edinburg.

Everything was as presented: clean, well maintained, great location, easy access. Appliances are in great condition and instructions for use are very well put together. Recommendations provided were great, food at the 3 Bind Mice was outstanding (had to go twice). Rental unit was stunning and would re-book as well as recommend without hesitation. One suggestion for improvement, if there is some way to simplify the process for parking discount. The discount is a huge benefit and we were not able to take advantage of it every day because sometimes there is no attendant at the parking garage. This would in no way make us think twice about visiting again, just an opportunity to improve (a discount code to use on keypad when paying or a card to scan…?). Please book with no hesitation and definitely try the pizza at 3 Blind Mice while visiting. Oh and the toiletries and the beautiful scent throughout the apartment! Also the property management team checked in half way through our stay to ask if we needed anything.

Great for Family Stay and Super Close to the Sites

Great stay in a really unique location. Large rooms in a converted church right in the center of the action, literally almost at the halfway point of the Royal Mile. Easy to get a cab or uber anywhere, but most of the main sites were within easy walking distance - Castle, Holyrood Palace, Victoria Street, Grassmarket, St. Giles, etc. all within steps of the hotel. Great restaurant options around. This place is not a hotel, it's an apartment, you won't have daily room service and as long as you are aware of that going in, the value per room can't be beat. It was beyond great having a washer/dryer in the room and it was super cozy to come home to after a long day out exploring. We stayed in room 4 and 8, one directly above the other. Take the extra steps to 8 and you can wake up to a magnificent view of Arthur's Seat every morning while sipping coffee or tea on the very comfortable couch.

Great find!

Loved the location and ease of getting in & out. The loft bed was a little harder to navigate, but we got used to it. Only 3 hangers in the closet upon arrival, but more were brought quickly when requested. Would definitely return. Two requests though - please include luggage racks in the apartment and find a way for a hair dryer to be used either in the bathroom or in front of a mirror. Great overall stay!

Really liked the vibe, overall. Studio apartment space in Old Town Edinburgh, close to a lot of cool stuff. Overall, very solid.

The only thing I'm going to call out is the bed. Tiny little double bed in a loft at the top of some narrow stairs. Little step up on the left side (but not the right because just at the top of the stairs). Really, really a pain to get in and out of bed.

Perfectly centrally located just off the royal mile, one block from north bridge with easy access to bus routes. Well stocked, clean, and perfect for our needs. Our loft had a washer/dryer, so we were able to pack in just a carry-on. Serviced by housekeeping 2 times during our 10 day stay, which was perfect. Beautiful architecture, very comfortable bed, nicely updated and modern, huge walk-in shower, great view of Arthur's seat from our window, and easy to find. Highly recommend!!! The only possible downside was we were on the top floor (3rd floor) and there was no elevator, it didn't bother us but if someone has mobility issues it may cause a problem.

We did enjoy our stay at the Blackfriars Lofts although the first night started out bad. Just after we went to bed for the evening the whole room started to shake…I honestly thought it was an earthquake it was that intense. The next day there were some men in the hallway doing some repairs tot he duct work and after that it was fine. It was clean but I am a bid of a neat freak and felt that the stairs leading to the loft where the bedroom was could have been cleaned more thoroughly. The area is awesome and lots of action going on. Would stay again.

Very good property, nicely done in an old historic building in a fantastic location.

The only complaint is the loft bed situation, which was clearly disclosed as a loft. Headroom was as expected (tight) but what was a bit of an issue is besides being in a loft, the bed itself in the loft is raised on a platform about 2' further with only two narrow but steep steps to one side of the bed to get up and down from it. This is a bit of an awkward maneuver when fully awake but more of an issue if one has to get up in the middle of the night and groggy.

This property was perfect for our trip to Scotland. It was central to all the activities we did as well as to many different restaurants. Within walking distance to shops and groceries as well. The only issue we had was when we requested maid service with the staff working, they agreed to a time and date but when we returned to the loft, service was not performed. Other than that, it was an amazing experience.

Loved the apartment! It was spacious and had everything we needed. Through no fault of Blackfriars Loft, the surrounding property was trashed due to the bin workers strike. The washing machine was very difficult to use. We were able to wash clothes, but not able dry them... so we left with a bag full of wet clothes. There wasnt a user manual or instructions included within the apartment
