The location is very central and the hotel in appearance is gorgeous. The staff let the hotel down, not all but most. The breakfast for us was very poor standard and presentation sometimes inedible. The room itself was large and comfortable an issue with the flooring that was raised not fixed whilst we were in situ which caused a few issues for us. Overall a little disappointing against the standard we expect from Hotel Indigo brand.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, Edwina was so caring, making sure we got the most suitable room. Room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, the vegetarian full breakfast had a great variety of food. The location was so convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

No indication that reception is up the stairs when you enter the property. Staff are polite, and go through the motions of being accommodating, but other than one lovely waitress at the bar, they aren't. The room was fine, but the bathroom was tiny, oddly angled with brown markings in the toilet and shower area. We asked for a room change but the staff indicated that as a boutique hotel the quirkiness of the rooms were a plus. No room change given. No preference is given to hotel guests at either the bar or restaurant. The location is a definite, and only, bonus.

Staff were very friendly, the interiors picturesque and the proximity to the station/amenities was very convenient.

The room seemed much smaller than pictured at booking, this aside there were two main issues. Firstly, there was dust throughout the room, clearly visible on the floors, in the air and around the bed area, which resulted in a lot of coughing due to asthma. Secondly the noise, the 6:30am bin collections outside our windows and 8am construction noises, were loud and inconvenient. A combination of these things, resulted in us having a less than restful break!

It’s very convenient to Waverley and the bus station, which was very helpful, but there was construction on a building literally right out my window. Even with a sound machine, it was very noisy starting very early (often before 7 am) and ending at least 9 or later. Great location to many things in the city.

Our room on the surface looked excellent but it was superficial, we booked a city view king room!
View was incredible, large bed was great!
But the flooring was all coming up and snagged clothes! Back of bathroom door was scuffed and hook hanging off! Just not quite the finish expected as per the rest of the hotel and the price paid!

Wonderful hotel opposite Waverley station! Only criticism I would make is there is only 1 lift and if not working it’s a walk to first floor reception! I was on the 3rd floor so not ideal for the less able! The lift didn’t work on the 2nd morning!! Overall a really nice hotel. Would stay here again!

I loved my stay. The location is conveniently across from the train station, next to shopping and dining options and a short walk to the Royal Mile. The room was great, and the breakfast was excellent. The lift was not working during my stay, so if you have accessibility needs I would check with the hotel first.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Indigo. Greg’s impromptu history lesson about the portraits was fun and informative. Breakfast was lovely, and the wait staff were very accommodating. The location was great, just across the street from Waverley Station, and close to the Royal Mile. We definitely will stay there again if we return to Edinburgh.

Excellent central location and easy to get to museums, restaurants and the old city without transportation. The staff is very friendly, attentive and cooperative to your needs. Very nice to have a good restaurant and lounge area in the hotel. The rooms for two people could have more closet and drawer space, as the closet really accommodates just one persons clothing items. Overall, it’s a fine place to stay.

Lovely staff & nice hotel let down by a few little things. (Heating in the room was broken so a portable oil heater was provided instead. Single glazed windows made the room cold & noisy. The bedside drawers had been fixed shut and there were no shelves in the wardrobe.) The room was a decent size. Breakfast was good. Location excellent.

Hotel Indigo was the first hotel on our trip to Scotland. It was charming and lovely, with a very delicious breakfast in the morning. The hotel bar was fun and the bartender was so friendly. The room was smaller than expected, especially at the price of the room (nearly 400/night). Overall recommend.

Our rooms AC was broken and was very hot all night. The next day when we checked out our train wasn't leaving for a few hours and we asked if we could keep our luggage at the hotel until our train departed so we wouldn't have to carry it around the city. The receptionist was very rude and told us they could not do it. I spent more than 500 dollars on a room for the night and this is how I was treated. Never staying there again. I never write reviews but this was ridiculous.

Lightbulb at bedside didn't work. It was reported, but not repaired by the time we left. It made the room dark. The location of the coffee maker made it hard to see because of lack of light.

Great Interior and Location.

The hotel design and finishings are at a really high standard. The rooms have been restyled well and the restaurant/breakfast area offers a more vintage feel with great views. Staff were great and very accomodating both on the front desk and for breakfast. A special shout out must be given to Gemma on the desk who was excellent and provides great service.
Only slight negative, due to the hotels location there is some noise from the street. However, the hotels appearance, staffing and room quality nulled this issue.

The interior of the hotel gave a sense of the historicity of the local culture and the importance of tradition. I liked the collection of portraits by the staircase, it made me look at the most prominent ones and look for the names of the people and their importance in connection with the city of Edinburgh.

The Hotel Indigo in Edinburgh had a very helpful staff and possesses a great location for walking about the city. The hotel room we were in was fine albeit in need of a little sprucing up, keeping in mind we were in the older part of the building on the 5th floor which has no elevator making it a challenge with heavy luggage but we managed. It was relatively clean or as clean as it could be as an older part of the building. We would return again if given the opportunity.

Hotel is in excellent location close to train & bus stations, with great choice of shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk. We were thrilled to stay at the Hotel Indigo! It’s lovely and filled with charming character! Our view was second to none in room 301!! The staff were cheerful and helpful - especially Gemma! Excellent service from the front desk when we checked in after an overnight flight. Our room was not ready but they put our bags in the room before we returned in the afternoon. We often used the stairs instead of the lift. We did not use the bar or restaurant because there are may options in the area, although some stores close at 7.

A charming hotel centrally located

Hotel Indigo is very well situated on Princes Street, right across from Waverley Train Station. If you like to party all night, the front rooms overlook the festival. If you’ve aged out of all-night-partying request an interior room or a room on the back.

A10-minute walk to the Royal Mile, gorgeous views of Edinburgh Castle, 5-minutes to St Andrews Square where you pick up the tourist buses. Restaurants every which way!

Hotel has a lovely literary vibe, with Scottish authors and other great thinkers adorning the walls. Breakfast was fine in the Twenty restaurant, dinner not so much. Reception staff and cleaning staff are polite, welcoming, went out of their way to make our visit pleasant.

Our special thanks to Morveen at reception who helped us move to a quieter interior room. We appreciate you!

All in all, a great value for money.
