However one problem did cause us some annoyance. The radiators in the room were constantly making a noise all night and all day. It seemed to us that they were constantly updating their central heating system.
This was our only complaint in respect of this short break.
Problem was only for overnight stay but could have been worse if we had a longer stay.

This was probably the smallest double room I've ever stayed in. However, it was clean & functional. There was only room for one bedside cabinet and with the ceiling slanted it was a challenging & careful shuffle to get into bed. Both the check-in & check-out were smooth & straightforward with both receptionists demonstrating high levels of professionalism.

We stayed in a suite which had 2 large beds and a big ensuite with large shower and freestanding bath, it felt very luxurious and we both slept very well. I would definitely stay here again

The Place is conveniently located near the train station. The staff are warm, welcoming and had plenty of ideas for things to do and see. We received a complimentary room upgrade upon check in which was lovely. The room and bathroom was very spacious with high ceilings, large windows and it had a mystery theme. The bathroom also features a large soaker tub and double shower heads. It was also quiet. We highly recommend this hotel.

This is one of the best located hotels in Edinburgh you are generally within 20 mins walk to everything. Perfect location. Very much appreciated the free late check out and upgrade to the grand and spacious room. A very clean large room, bathroom and well equipped , which enhanced our stay and was a nice surprise.

The hotel is conveniently located on York Place. You can walk to all the main tourists sites. It's very close to a tram station so easy access to and from the airport. I was booked in a cosy double room and there was a problem with heating. The staff were super helpful and moved me to another room and gave me an upgrade! The hotel is in New Town, a lovely area of Edinburgh and I would recommend staying in this area. Lots of great eating options and really close to everything without being in the tourist area.

The Place had so many mixed reviews but honestly we couldn’t have asked for more!!! Stunning room, clearly refurbished recently, the friendliest staff who couldn’t do more to help. We didn’t eat at the hotel as you have so many amazing restaurants on your doorstep. However we did utilise the bar and again, great staff and reasonably priced.

The double standard room was very clean and comfortable. There was now window but, the skylight provided plenty of natural light and was easy to operate for ventilation and opening and closing the blind.

Good location for shopping.

The breakfast really was good.

The only thing I would suggest for improvement is the brand of coffee and tea in the room. They tasted bland.

I would definitely return and stay here next time I visit Edinburgh.

As I was travelling solo I was allocated a room on the lower level and the only source of light and ventilation was via the sky light, not an issue until bed time as you could not block out any light. The mattress was also of a poor quality.

Beautiful Georgian building that has received LIMITED updates, too limited for what they charge. I was put in a top floor room, 4 flights of steep stairs and no elevator. The room sat directly under the roof and with the window closed (and the cleaning staff always closed it) and no AC the room would be very hot and stuffy by the end of the day and would not fully cool down until the wee hours of the morning; and this was in September so one can imagine the heat in summer. Also, with the windows open sounds of the traffic and street cars down below Kept me awake. The hot water was tepid, with very low water pressure, not much more than a trickle, and the bed killed my back. Not what one would expect at this price point.

Loved the hotel. The staff were wonderful and helpful (helped carry our luggage up to the top floor.) Breakfast was excellent. The lounge area was very nice. Would have given a 5 overall except for not having a lift. We avoided our room during the day to avoid going up all the stairs. Recommend the Superior Double as the Standard comes in different sizes and floor levels. Thanks for a great stay!

The room was down several stairs. No lift. Situated basically in the basement.. No window just a sky light. Making the already tiny tiny room, Stuffy.. A fan was provided. It offered some comfort. The staff was probably the best part. I feel as we were charged too much for a Small room with a double bed. Which is what I ordered but upon seeing it in person it seemed overpriced.

The hotel team were very helpful, attentive and friendly. They offered to carry our luggage as there was no lift on site, excellent customer service.
The room was compact, but very clean and comfortable, with all that we needed for a one noight stay.

Amazing view from the window, spacious room, very clean and tidy. They provide complete of teas, coffee, iron, and hairdryer. I love the big mirror in bed room and a beautiful mirror in shower room. Staff are nice and helpfull. Close to station and mall. It doesn't has lift but the stairs is not bad for a little exercise.

We requested for a ground floor room... got 2nd floor room alloted and unfortunately they dint had elevators in premise...
But guess what.. then we had Alex and the management that care and she helped worked out options to get us room on 1st floor..with a complementary upgrade of the room to suite.
.
In terms of breakfast..its was not a buffet, they served 1 item out of 7 as part of paid breakfast

This hotel is very nice. It is very conveniently located, just a block from the train and bus stations as well as old city center of Edinburgh. The staff gave me a free upgrade to a suite which was wonderful, except that this was the “ literary suite” with 3 full-size paintings of famous Scottish authors on the wall, staring at you…

Good value of money to stay in a lovely city

Excellent location and WiFi access. We are on the top floor which was quite warm, No air condition but a fan is provided. We found a tiny spider on the pillow, but overall are good and clean. No complaint :-)

Hôtel très bien situé, avec toutes les commmodités proches, à pieds ou en tram à seulement quelques mètres de l'hôtel. Très pratique pour venir ou aller à l'aéroport.
La chambre était propre, spacieuse et confortable avec une belle vue au 2ème étage. Il lui manquait toutefois quelques petits éléments à améliorer: un petit meuble sous la TV ou une table pour poser des affaires, et il manquait les appliques murales lumineuses de chaque côté du lit.
Mais nous avons tout de même passé un très bon séjour. Le personnel est professionnel et très agréable. On nous a gentiment gardé les bagages avant l'heure du check-in, et même portés jusqu'à la chambre. A noter que l'hôtel vous contacte par un lien whats'app dès votre réservation pour vous donner plein d'informations utiles et répondre à toutes vos questions, ce qui est très appréciable quand on arrive dans une ville que l'on ne connaît pas. Merci beaucoup!

A beautiful georgian property. High ceilings and big windows.
No lift but help offered immediately with our luggage.
I noted a large car park, tram and Bus routes but we walked everywhere...... just 15 mins from Princes st and Waverly.

Great location and staff. Property is well kept. Within walking distance of the tram and Waverley train station.

Be aware that there is no lift/elevator, so you will need to take the stairs. Single room is small and basic, but it's all you need to shower and sleep. My room was on the street side and had a bright light right outside the window; better blackout curtains would have helped at night.

The room was very large with a little sofa, table & chair, desk and chair, TV and the beds were quite comfortable. Internet worked great for us. They didn't really have a \"dining room\" however you could eat in the lounge and they had several comfortable sitting areas on the main floor. As we were out and about we didn't actually eat at the property so I can't speak on the food. The hotel is close to the bus & train stations and very walkable to shops and parks. There is no elevator however the staff brought our bags up to our rooms for us. The terrace area was super quiet, serene & relaxing. The only thing I think would be nice to add to the rooms is a little fridge to be able to keep bottled water, a sandwich etc in. Having said all that the staff really makes this hotel ... they were AMAZING! so friendly, personable, helpful, accommodating, quick in response to all queries and always smiling (even while hauling our heavy luggage up the stairs).

The only minor issue with the room was that an explanation of what had to be done for the lights to work was not given upon check-in. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
