Room was boiling hot as the aircon didn’t work. I only realised this when I woke up. Told receptionist on check out and got the old “you should have come down and told us”. It’s not a big deal I was just letting them know. Just the lack of empathy or apology when this happens is a bit irritating. On the whole it’s a nice hotel. The pool is small. I managed to swim a bit but it’s about 5 strokes a full length. I wouldn’t stay for the pool if you want exercise. Location is great for the station

The internet wouldn’t connect and there was no Netflix on the tv, so no Netflix and chill as screen mirroring wasn’t possible.

The hotel was lovely, surprisingly quiet and had an excellent access into the Calton Road entrance to the train station.

The Apex proved to be a great hotel choice while in Edinburgh. A close walk to the Royal Mile and literally above the train station made it very convenient to site see and then catch the train to London. The hotel felt very safe and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent. All of the staff extremely friendly. Our room was a triple and was very large by European standards. A large bed, a pull out bed (comfortable) and a sofa too. The bathroom actually had a US style shower so that was nice. Overall we would return to this hotel if we were to return to Edinburgh.

Had an excellent stay at the Apex Waterloo Place - stayed 3 nights over a long six nations weekend. The hotel was really well presented, all of the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. We ate at the Liberte restaurant and had their Prix Fixe menu - the food was delicious and good value for the quality we received. Used the basement pool and sauna which was small, but really nice too. Hotel well located for the city, and exploring down to Leith. All in all, a great stay and would come back here again another time.

This was a great place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Old Town - we enjoyed the walkability to some great sites and it was nice and quiet. The room was also much larger than I had originally thought and it was perfect for our stay of 3 nights.

Brilliant location easy access to all Edinburgh amenities, and lovely hotel spacious well appointed room great size. Very clean excellent service from all staff. We stopped in room 507 nice and quiet. Lovely breakfast - fantastic omlette. We will definitely stop here again.

Room had broken window that couldn’t be closed. Kept blowing open with the wind. Room was very cold. Pool was closed . Supposed to get 2 drinks with room and had to go back and ask to get them. Nice bathroom.

We had 3 rooms on the 2nd floor over looking 20 industrial bins which they banged doors to access and threw bottles in while trying to sleep. Wouldn’t recommend low level rooms over looking these bins.

The staff deserves 5 stars. The lady at the reception helped me move my luggage in the elevator as I only take the stairs. I didn’t like the room I got as it was very hidden, had a view of the garbage cans, and lacked plenty of amentities like shower cap and others. Also I had to ask for a box of tissues as there none left - housekeeping
Missed checking this.

The location was so central and it was only 4 mins walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station. The room was so clean and tidy and the service was top notch. You have free access to steam room and sauna with your stay and also a fully working spa. The staff were very kind and very helpful.

My wife and I had an exceptional experience at the Apex Waterloo. Besides a room with a great view of the city, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us at every turn.
Having a drink at the bar located in the hotel was just the perfect finishing touch to a day in the city.
Certainly a 5 star hotel at a reason price.

Bathroom was nice but water leaks a lot from the shower and the shower had an AWFUL smell! Firstly, the shower didn’t drain so we got someone to come and clean the drain. However, after that the smell was disgusting coming from the drain and it didn’t go away. Assuming it’s an old building with old drains but taking a shower wasn’t the nicest. Other than that, breakfast was great and the room itself was lovely.

The hotel is lovely however it’s not in the old town of Scotland. It’s on the other side of the bridge which if you like quiet and so on. But I’m a person that likes a lot of activity. I want to go to nightclubs IThe singing in the street and that is definitely on the other side of the bridge in Scotland. Otherwise the hotel features are fine. The bed was comfortable, but I would never stay there again because it’s not my cup of tea. I’m a person who’s traveled the world and I want to be with people that have traveled the world and are active

Check in was exceptional - we didn’t take the breakfast option as we had an early flight to catch so opted to skip it. The room was lovely clean & spacious / we were celebrating our anniversary and had the surprise of a lovely Xmas duck to keep. It really was a lovely stay / we enjoyed the spa facility after a busy day exploring the Xmas markets and surrounding areas. The room was clean, the staff were lovely and willing to go above and beyond. The hotel is located in the centre of the city meaning we walked everywhere as it was within reach. The only thing is the pool was quite cold for this time of year and we could hear others in the room next to us when they got a bit too loud.
Overall it has been a wonderful stay and would come back again.

Hotel is lovely and a nice touch having mulled wine and mince pies out for guests.

Room was big and clean. Bed was very comfortable as were pillows and duvets.

Nice touch having the leisure facilities although pool could have been slightly hotter.

Perfect location for princes street, Christmas markets, George street and st James quarter. Fantastic stay and can’t wait to return.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to everything we wanted to visit during our stay. We were in a city room and it was huge, more than enough space for two adults for three nights. The only issue was there were some steps directly outside our room (838) which were very creaky every time someone stepped on them which would wake us up, luckily most people seemed to be back in their rooms quite early. It would also be useful if the lockers in the spa could be operated with the room key, we didn’t have any pound coins on us so couldn’t use the lockers. The staff were very friendly and attentive and our room was spotless. I was also very happy to see the NZ made toiletries in the bathroom - we recently came back from a trip there and remembered using the same ones, a lovely unexpected nostalgic touch!

Great welcoming reception from Sarah other receptionist throughout my stay, and all the staff at the bar. The rooms were spotless clean, very comfortable. Definitely welcoming birthday surprise, which, I loved the attention to detail. My only concern was that the room was very hot at night, and I did call to get it checked out by maintenance, but there was no accommodations for it. But, I loved the location, nice staff, I’ll be back again.

We arrived adter a bit of a nightmare journey with trains cancelled and local snow as we left. We managed to re-route and got to the hotel tired and cold to be told our room was already available and to head straight up to get warm. The room was lovely. We booked a super king sized room for a bit of extra space for the 3 night stay. The huge bath tub was a bonus to soak in after a long day walking in wintry weather. The antipodes toiletries were lovely.
Location of the hotel is spot on. Everything is within walking distance. I'd recommend the society bar and kitchen a few doors down for brunch or tea but make sure you book ahead as they regularly have queues outside.
The pool was cold but the sauna and steam room were lovely.
Only small gripe was towels weren't changed when requested but we found some fresh so not a huge deal. We would definitely stay here again. Luggage room used on check out was useful although slightly manic trying to locate luggage in there. All in all a pleasant stay.
