Dropping off our son at university this was a good place to stay just around the corner from the halls. It’s a good neighbourhood, reasonably quiet. Dorstan House is a huge, grand old Victorian house, tastefully decorated. Self check in was easy with all the codes being emailed two days before arrival. The breakfast was really tasty and plenty of it. It’s delivered to your room.

A very nice Guest House with wonderful hosts. They have done a great job making a traditional building warm and welcoming. I walked into Town (1-2 miles), but the hotel is close to a bus route, and there are plenty of taxis in Edinburgh.

We only stayed one night, we were passing through Edinburgh. The gentleman who welcomed us was extremely attentive, revealed to us on the map about tourist spots and how to get there by bus. He took us and we were shown to our room with a wonderful view. The room was very clean, organized and with everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast the other day was served in the room at the appointed time, all well prepared with the options we requested. It was a very good experience, we will be back.

Richard was a really good host. Everything was clean, bedroom was lovely with a comfy bed and I like the idea of having a tasty breakfast delivered to the room. Very easy to get to by bus from the city centre as well (15 minutes), would definitely consider staying again the next time I visit Edinburgh.

Lovely place with beautiful features inside - stained glass window , wide stairs and chandeliers. Nice to have pre-ordered breakfast delivered to room. Host was very helpful on arrival,giving us a map and explaining bus numbers and how they worked with payment. Were re visiting days of old and shall definitely use this place again next visit to Edinburgh.

Beautiful guest house with a great host. The photos of this place dont do it justice! We stopped here for two nights and had a lovely welcome and waa shown every thing once we arrived such as how the shower and door lock worked etc. The host was very knowledgeable on the area and provided us a map and explained how the local buses worked and all the different ways we could choose to walk in to the centre. It was very evident that the guest experience is important to him and that is a rare commodity now!
We chose the night before what we would like for breakfast the following morning and what time we would like it and it was delivered bang on time and was lovely! The room was very clean and more spacious than we expected for the price and had lovely big windows which made the room nice and bright. The rooms are cleaned daily and our tea, coffee and milk was also replenished. The bed was a little soft for us but that is just personal prefernce, however the bedding was also lovely and soft which i really liked! There is free on site parking which we had no problem finding a space but there is also free on road parking. The lovely host also let us leave our car there after checking out whilst we went in to edinburgh centre before leaving on the last day.

This was my second time staying with Dorstan, and I can confidently say that I'll be back! The staff here is friendly, welcoming, warm, and so immensely helpful. Breakfast is delicious, the rooms are comfortable, and the street is so pleasantly quiet while still being just a short bus ride away from Edinburgh's main attractions. Highly recommend.

On the whole it was a pleasant stay. The hosts were friendly and helpful when asked. One minor complaint, they should be a night light in the bathroom, face towels, and something lighter to use for sleeping other than the comforter like a top sheet.

Comfortable single room with ensuite toilet and shower. Very quiet. Owners are very friendly and efficent; breakfast was really great and freshly prepared. You mark your selection the night before. (hot and cold options availble) The city centre is around a 10 minute bus ride from the stop 2 mins away or around 30 mins if you don't mind walking. If you fancy a swim, drop by the nearby 50m commonwealth pool which is awsome! Lovely stay, thanks so much!
