My stay at H1 Hotel Geneva was extremely disappointing. From arrival, the parking area and entrance felt unsafe and poorly maintained, creating an immediate sense of discomfort.

The check-in experience was unprofessional, with staff appearing distracted and inattentive. Throughout the hotel, there was a strong smell of cannabis, and the overall atmosphere felt uncontrolled and unsafe. Several guests were loud during the night, shouting in the corridors and banging doors, which made it impossible to rest and caused significant discomfort.

The shared bathrooms and toilets were extremely dirty and poorly maintained, with strong unpleasant odours. Basic cleanliness and hygiene standards were not met.

Overall, the experience fell well below acceptable hospitality standards, particularly regarding safety, cleanliness, and guest comfort. This feedback is provided in the hope that management will address these serious issues and improve conditions for future guests.

Bring your own soap! They have none

Basic is OK given the price, and to F1's credit the bed covers and floor were clean. BUT no soap in shared showers, at all, none in room, and had to ask for a towel at front desk. No trash can in room either. Heater ripped out of wall and hanging by bare wires. Showers not too clean, either. Water on floor in hall. Dirty floor in hall. It could be cheap and cheerful with a little effort, but no soap is kind of below the minimum for me. Very quiet, nice views of Jura mountains, close to multiple restaurants and supermarket.

French side of Geneva. Tricky to navigate to find taxi. No taxi rank had to call but without valid sim impossible. Cab fm airport 30-50cfa. Better to spend more on hotel on tram line. Location isolated and while my room was clean, No towels provided. General place rundown and dirty. Breakfast awful.

Great place for a low cost stay

The hotel was absolutely fine for my needs as a solo traveller. Yes, it wasn't the cleanest, there was no air con so it was pretty hot at night, but i slept well and it was great for solo travellers or friends. To get into Geneva centre was easy, a 25 min walk to get Tram number 14, which only costs 3 CHF for a 1hour ticket, and the tram takes about 22 mins, and they run very regularly. So you can be in Geneva centre in about 1 hour.

I would avoid even though its cheap

Hotel instantly smelt of cigarette smoke on arrival.
Upon entering the room it was falling apart. Cloth hooks hanging off the wall, door hinges broken, and grime all over the shower. Also the smell of bad drainage was very noticeable.
To order a cabrio room but to find no towels were given was disappointing. Had to go out to a nearby supermarket to purchase a towel as the hotel had none.
The only positive from this hotel was the onsite parking and a bed that was comfortable.

Commendable but needs a little improvement.

It was comfortable and thanks to the reception staff, a very nice guy. He helped me look for a type C charger for my iPhone 16pro max. Only downside was no towels or toiletries and I couldn’t get any cause I came in on a Sunday.

After reading all the other comments before visiting I had very low expectations. But this is a \"you get what you paid for\" situation. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Walls are very thin and you can hear people talking in the hallway. So bring a pair of ear plugs. Rooms are very small. I had a room with a private bathroom. The hotel's distance to city center is fair. You can take the tram downtown for walking to the station for 25 minutes. And it takes onether 20 minutes to ride. And I think the tram is running 24 hours. Overall it wasn't a bad experience. For a couple of nights in town it did the job for me.

This place is cheap for a reason. If you have children - do not stay here. It's in the middle of nowhere, noisy, dirty and feels unsafe. There are wrecked cars in the carpark and it looks like people live in some of them. Do not stay here if you need to travel to the airport - it's not close to any transport links and a taxi will cost 50 euros.

Please consider staying elsewhere. Nowhere near the airport (1 hour walk, two 25 minute buses or a 30 euro taxi). Staff didn’t speak English. Bedroom door did not lock, showers were filthy. Don’t pay extra for breakfast it was shambolic. If I could give it less than 1 star I would do.

Worst hotel I've stayed in!!!!

The room was too hot! People stayed up till 2/3am talking and smoking canibis outside which made room smell. Lots of building work happening next to hotel and the secure gate did not shut. Lots of people were being met in by friends through side doors to use facilities. Walked around hotel and found remains of drug use (burnt paper and screwed up tinfoil)

No electricity when I checked in. Room wasn’t cleaned once during stay. No towels in the rooms and the corridor door wouldn’t close, so the noise from the communal room was blasting down the corridor until 1am each night. Vending machine was always empty.

Great location though as it’s opposite a few places to eat and there’s a bus stop nearby that goes to the airport.

You pay for what you get

A budget hostel six minutes drive from airport( French side). You need a car to stay here. My room was not en-suite so I had to use the bathroom and shower room in the corridor. Room and toilet were clean. No towels nor toiletries. Room temperature is fine. if you are on a tight budget or not bothered with basic facilities, this is a ok place to have a short stay.

Do not stay here… i genuinely felt scared to sleep here and there is no towels, no shampoo or any toiletries, no service and its far away from the city, it smells like smoke everywhere and the beding also looked rather unpleasant. There is also a trailor camp right next to the hotel. I was supposed to stay two nights, but felt so uneasy to ho back that i booked a different hotel in the end.

Check in was difficult. There were no towels which we were expected to pay for. The building itself looked very tired. The room was comfortable: the bed was fine and linen was clean.

The worst issue was that for the majority of our stay, we had no hot water. This was raised to staff and was much later rectified.

The hotel is difficult to reach; it’s a 25 minute walk or infrequent bus to get to a tram which is okay during the day. It was expensive to get a taxi from the centre of Geneva too and equally as expensive to get a taxi to the airport (there are no Ubers).

Don’t stay here.

I’ll never stay here again or ever recommend it to anyone. There seemed to be a constant group of young men smoking and hanging around the front desk. There was noise from people in the corridor all night long. The bed sheets smelt strongly of cigarette smoke and the bed was really uncomfortable plus the duvet was tiny.

Cheaper hotel for staying at Geneva Airport as it is in the French sector. Wasn't happy that when us six blokes turned up, we had been given tandem rooms which means a queen bed, even though we had requested two single beds on the booking.

The gentleman at reception was not prepared to help us at first and it was only by standing our ground there at the front desk and pointing out the single room request, that he went off to see what he could do. I understand that his system was down at that time (he told us), but this is still no excuse for the unhelpful welcome.

To top it off, most of the communal showers on our floor had no shower gel in the dispensers.

Spent the whole evening trying to get rooms booked

After 11 hours of travelling we were unable to get into the rooms we had booked. It took us the evening to sort out and meant we had no time to go out for a meal or take away - so we went to bed having only had some sandwiches for lunch that day feeling very hungry! Apparently, one of the rooms we had booked they had not received payment for, so wanted to charge us again. We showed our receipts for payments of both rooms and only the tourist tax of one euro to pay, but the hotel was adamant we had not paid and said we had to pay again! Contacting hotel.con was a nightmare as they had no phone number that worked. In the end via an online chat forum we finally got through to a human being, who was eventually able to sort it out! The hotel was sent the Expedia payment (the method hotel.com had sent the payment to them) again and finally the hotel receptionist let us have our rooms! Not great after a long day of travelling and we were all hungry but had no food!

It cannot be called a hotel. Basic I can handle. But this was awful. It was extremely noisy all night and into the morning. And before any member of management makes the argument that this is what hotels are like, sorry no! They are not. The walls are paper thin. The showers were abysmal. We had a choice of two. One didn't have any hot water. The second didn't have any lighting! The room was cold. The heater looked like it had been salvaged from a WWII shipwreck, due to the amount of rust on it. The list goes on. If you have have the choice between a Siberian Prison and this place, give it some thought.

No frill basic motel. U get what you pay for.

It’s a no frill motel. A simple small room with no bathroom or shower or even a blanket. Bathrooms and showers are out and they are public. A towel and a blanket will cost you extra.
It’s also a good 24 minute walk from the closest bus stop in Fernier. It’s economical and that’s the only good thing going for it.

If you're looking for super basic, low budget lodging, this place fits the bill. Expect to pay for EVERYTHING that isn't permanently installed (towel, soap, etc.). The place was clean and safe. I would stay again in similar circumstances.

Things I disliked:
Internet was so slow that I couldn’t upload even a short video on WhatsApp.
Only 3-4 tv channels work.
There is only one type of electrical plug (two-hole plug). I looked for an adaptor at the reception to charge and keep using my laptop, but they haven’t. I had a short deadline for important work on my laptop, but unfortunately, I missed the deadline because of this.

I liked the cleanliness.

The room was in a state - tv that wouldn’t turn off, heater hanging off/fallen off the wall with cables hanging out and just left on the ground. Cabling / electrics exposed and bordering on unsafe. Toilet / shower cupboards mostly wet floors with lights that went off as you sat down...bizarre and I won’t be going back

Avoid at all costs!

This was the worst “hotel” experience I have ever had. I don’t expect much, but this was truly horrifying. First, it took over an hour to get there from the airport. On a map, it looks like it is right next door, but we had to take a bus and then walk over a mile with our baggage. When we arrived, they tried to charge us the full price for the room, even though I had already paid for it through Expedia. It took forever to get everything sorted out. Then we found out that because we had 3 people, our room didn’t include our own bathroom, but rather a shared (unisex) bathroom down the hall, which was completely filthy. Our room was even worse, it honestly looked like it had never been cleaned. Although it was a non smoking room it smelled like smoke, had cobwebs in the corners, stains on the chair and sink, dust everywhere. The lock on the window was broken, but since it was close to 100 degrees F and there was no ventilation whatsoever, we had no choice but to leave the window open anyway. Which brought in all kinds of flies and mosquitos. Don’t expect any amenities either- there were no towels, no soap, no mini fridge or anything else you would normally find in a hotel room. Just the beds and bedding (which smelled like vomit), sink, chair, desk and TV. Truly felt like a jail cell.

Not a place to stay at any price

I have stayed in an F1 hotel when my Children where young. It was okay and an adventure. I booked the one near Geneva Airport for two nights due to a lack of availability in the area thinking it may be basic but we could get buy. The place was awful and the staff did not care. Who runs an hotel and does not provide towels !
We stayed one night instead of the two we booked and felt threatened. The atmosphere was not good. We paid good money for what was at best a roof.

Sorry to post a bad review but it is a truthful reflection of our stay.

Really sad experience, hopefully will not have to ever stay there again. Room stiflingly hot with no ventilation or A/C, really thin and uncomfortable cheap sponge mattress. Filthy bathroom full of excrement, worse than a cheap motorway gas station facility.

Unbelievable that such a dump prominently carries the name of the Accor group- a fact that seriously makes me reconsider my patronage of Sofitel and other group labels in the future.

I would seriously suggest removing this hotel from future Expedia listings.

When we walked into the room my friend said the room looked like a cell. I pointed out cells don't have to shared toilets
