Customer service is hit and miss.

The main dining area is nice but again the food quality is hit and miss the steak was a cheap cut of meat very chewy but the flavour was good.

I ordered a brownie which came almost frozen.

The spa is a nice facility but they definitely need to have staff management on busier days.

The rooms are okay but terrible lumpy pillows and a little dated.

I would probably use the facilities if i lived local but not go out of my way to visit Thornton hall it is very basic i would give 3.5 Stars

The hotel is nice, felt clean, if slightly dated. The staff are a credit and very friendly and attentive. The spa is pretty good. The only negative, is whilst reasonably priced for a spa hotel, aside from bottles of water in the rooms, everything is an extra. Robes, slippers or rather sandals all have to be paid for, no little gifts in rooms etc. just feels like they want to sell everything else and it’s not cheap for any extras. Breakfast was nice and plenty of choice, parking excellent, room was comfortable.

I booked the hotel for the pool. Good size to do laps with but you have to get there early as it gets full as the morning goes.
Only stayed the one night but we had a bottle of wine free which was a nice touch. Nice place, not large but fairly enough grounds. No airconditioning in our room but balcony door and window can be opened. Fairly clean room except for the electric fan which probably havent been cleaned for months with the amount of dirts and dust it has accumulated. It was a warm night and we had doubts using it.
Attentive, respectful staff. Good breakfast selection and enough parking spaces. You can see cows grazing in the fields nearby.
Will probably come back again but I keep remembering the dirty fan…we’ll see.

A pleasant stay in a clean and comfortable room, situated in the annex. Being located onthe ground floor, noise from passing guests, in the corridor and outside, can be an issue.

Unable to comment too much on the food as I was dissuaded from sampling the breakfast or using the main restaurant following a poor experience in the bistro, where the food was lacklustre and atmosphere resembled that of a sports centre cafeteria. A great pity.

Overall the stay was fine but I felt it could be so much better by paying more attention to the small details.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff.

Beautiful hotel and very clean. All staff very welcoming. I had room 4 which i was happy with. I wouldnt necessarily have wanted that room during a heatwave because it was very stuffy with only a small window for air. But in the UK this is rarely a problem, lets face it.

Breakfast was absolutely wonderful, plenty of choice and vegan options available.

A lovely hotel that I will be returning to (but will probably avoid August because of the hot room + menopause, iykyk).

I was lucky that the room i booked had a balcony. I booked an afternoon tea for my birthday which was fab. The meals in the restaurant i can't fault. I managed to book a back, neck and shoulder massage.

Disappointed at check in with extra charges

I arrived after booking through Hotels.com for the room at this Spa hotel to be told that as I was room only the spa use is not included and it would be an additional fee per day to use the facilities. No treatments, just pool etc. I said this was not made clear to me at booking and was told that is the problem booking third party sites. I am very disappointed with Hotels.com and have booked my next weeks stay direct at another hotel in the area.

Kept awake most of night by blokes who where drinking either outside or in room above. Netflix would not work although they did offer to come to room and sort it out but couldn’t be bothered by then. Bathroom was a bit tired and dated and shower was awkward to work

Absolutely beautiful hotel, friendly staff, clean and comfy. The only criticism is that £50 to use the pool and spa etc is absolutely extortionate…. Most hotels let hotel guests use these facilities for free, some higher end ones may charge around £10 or so which is fine….. but £50 is an absolute rip off. You can get 3 months gym membership for that. It is fleecing customers and made me not want to spend any more money in there like at the bar or restaurant etc.

Stayed for one night. Charged extra fir checking in an hour early but needed to do this as attending a wedding.
Staff were lovely and very helpful.
Hotel was beautiful but a bit tired in corridors in places.
Room was lovely .very clean . Plenty of amenities. Tea coffee. Biscuits. Shampoo etc. Ironing board.Iron.Fan.
Two double beds but one was quite lumpy so we slept in the other.
Got a good nights sleep. Nice and quiet.
Would highly recommend

This is a lovely hotel, I stayed 2 years ago and feel sadly it’s lost its spark a bit. The good bits first, parking is great, easy to access hotel and plenty of spaces, the spa was great, and a big bonus was the yoga class I joined when I saw people with yoga mats. The room was big and comfortable with a nice fridge and a big bath.
The not so good bits, the corridors were cold and a big part was not heated at all, it’s a long walk from rooms to reception and breakfast room. I had to make 3 trips to reception to get room keys recoded as they stopped working which was annoying. Breakfast was disappointing, we were sat on a tiny table, not big enough to eat comfortably and very close to the tables next to us so we couldn’t really speak without people listening. The choice was poor, no bananas, tomatoes not properly cooked, too tough in the middle, vegetarian sausage was full of veg not fake meat, don’t really want carrots & peas with breakfast. Only one milk available I’m sure I could have asked for soy or skimmed but didn’t want to. I know these may feel small & picky things but they are important. Lovely bath but no bubble bath so had to use shower gel provided. I’d still go back but I feel like the cost of living is having an effect on this hotel.

The breakfast was lovely and lots of choice. I have a nut allergy and they made me very own cooked breakfast just to be on the safe side which was lovely. Will definitely be looking to book again.

I am writing this review because, despite being asked to email the hotel about my concerns, I have not received any response. This lack of follow-up has left me disappointed and compelled me to share my experience publicly.

I stayed at this hotel from December 7th to December 8th to celebrate my wife’s birthday. While we dined at The Lawns Grill, which was a pleasant experience, it is worth noting that the restaurant was an additional cost and unrelated to the core issue of my stay.

The main problem was the extremely thin walls, which made it impossible to block out noise from a group of loud guests in the adjacent room. Their conversation was so loud it felt like they were in our room. Despite raising multiple complaints with the reception—by phone and in person—the disturbance persisted until 2:30 AM when the group finally left.

A hotel’s primary purpose is to provide a peaceful night’s sleep, but the thin walls and inability to address the issue meant we barely got any rest, significantly impacting the next day of our trip.

Amazing! We got a room upgrade to “the studio” which was lovely, clean and spacious. The amenities were great and the room was extremely comfortable.

We had no aircon and our room window was out on the carpark where there was ingoing noise of cars and people chatting all night . We had a old plug in fan but that was really noisy too. Our room must have been 30 degrees at least. And then to top it off at 6am when we had enough and was roasting the shower didnt work no matter how many time we pulled the toggle it just would stay. So our stay was not relaxing atall. Oh and the jacuzzi outside is very old and buttons dont work most of the time.

Hotel and facilities were good, but the room we were in backed onto the entrance to the function suite where a school prom was in progress. It was very noisy until late and we had to keep the windows closed to limit the noise which made the room too warm and stuffy on a hot day.

A little Short changed

The hotel is generally nice, in good condition, and the spa is nice.

However we left feeling a little short changed. Everything is run with extra costs required, and there was mixed messages given by staff. It was like booking a Ryanair flight… but expensive.

I was told when booking, after calling, that since we were arriving late at night I should be able to transfer our included evening meal to lunch the next day, and that I could use the spa passed checkout time for free.
However when actually arriving, to use the spa after checkout is additional £20 per person. Robe is extra £6. We could not transfer the dinner to lunch. Only unhealthy options available on room service if arriving late.
Some coffees at the breakfast were also extra charge.

The rooms had paper thin insulation and so everything in corridors can be heard in your room. The spa also had a lot not working.

Normally these things not an issue, but given the high cost of the hotel, it felt like the owners are just trying to squeeze every extra penny out of you. The staff are nice, just their hands tied, and it came across as bad customer service compared to other hotels.

For this reason would not highly recommend at all.

Be aware that if you’re booking a room only it’s £30!extra for each person to use the pool/gym etc would I stay again yes but find somewhere else for b’fast

We received a lovely warm welcome from the staff who were really helpful with everything we needed. They helped with our bags, told us where everything was and ordered us a taxi etc.. our room was beautiful, clean with a huge comfortable bed. We used the spa which was very clean and I loved the outside hot tubs. We ate in the brasserie and the food was very tasty. Breakfast buffet was lovely too.

The room next to ours had a group of women, which was more than the people assigned to the room, like 6 or 7. they were listening to loud music and clearly drunk with booze in their room

Twice we complained to reception to get them to calm down and quieten down as a courtesy to us and other guests, however the hotel staff did not get them to do so. long and short we got no sleep and it spoiled our stay

We traveled at night so We were getting lost. Hotel staff could not help us to locate we’re we were so that we can get to the hotel. Eventually we got there.
The bathroom was not very clean considering it’s a 4* plus hotel. Shower not working properly. Toilet sit was stained.

Lovely stay, great food and pleasant spa. Very embarrassing situation on arrival when the staff would not accept Northern Irish Bank notes as payment. They insisted on contacting their accounts department which wouldn't answer. I was told \"it's important to be thorough\" by a supervisor hiding in the back room, when I pointed out they are legal tender anywhere in the UK. Luckily enough, common sense prevailed when a shift change happened many hours later, and a very polite man verified the notes would be absolutely fine as they are Stirling and no different to a Bank of England or Scotland notes.

I understand they are undergoing an upgrade so its supposed to be a temporary issue, and the staff did what they could.....but it was a pain as i was trying to work remotely one of the mornings.

Solo trip

The rooms and decor are very dated and much lived in but they are clean and spacious making it acceptable place to stay.
TV signal does not work-not an issue for me but I imagine some would find it more if a problem. Staff are all pleasant. Breakfast was ok too.
Only ate in the bar-pretty limited menu so wouldn’t wish to stay longer than a night or two.
