Restaurant was great but expected more from the hotel. It was our 5 year Anniversary and engagement celebration which I made sure to mention it beforehand and in the moment. I would like streaming services readily available especially since spa times aren’t guaranteed. I’d also like options to be available in case a spa service isn’t available at Avani spa. What alternatives are there especially when traveling from another state. It was extremely difficult to reach room service. Had to call repeatedly in order to get a response.

Nice overall and clean but, way over priced! We had a hard time finding our way around at first. The staff was not overly kind or helpful. Our services at the spa were so messed up with more than one couple that we ended up not being able to use the spa at all, which was one of the reason in going. The staff at the spa acknowledged the error and wouldn’t even allow us to just come and use it without service. I was disappointed because it was a 50th birthday celebration for a person in our group. Lastly, we wanted a space to have cupcakes since it would be difficult to have 4 couples in one room and we were told no. Seems silly for a group of adults not to have a table or space to just have cupcakes. Not impressed and will not be retuning.

Several things went wrong but the one that hit me was the restaurant 240 , it was our anniversary and we went there to have dinner around 7:00ish and they said it was going to be a waiting list for 20min. They said they were going to call us back when a table opens. 30min past no call so we decided to wait for another 15 minutes and then we went to ask what happened and they said the manager kept saying to push more time, ok we decided to wait another half hour and since they closed at nine that Sunday we came back because no one called back again. They said again the same thing the manager is pushing more time. We asked to talk to the manager ourselves but the manager decided not to come and talk to us. We obviously left pretty upset and hungry. Not going back any time soon

Didn’t like they charge an extra $24.00 a day resort fee that you don’t find out about until you check in. No mention through Expedia. Also ordered an $85.00 Valentine package with pedals, chocolate and champagne. Specifically asked non alcohol or not and I said non alcohol. Gave me alcohol. Chocolate was 2 small hearts that had no taste. When I called the front desk, the girl needed to talk to her manager because she had no clue and I never heard back. Clock in room didn’t tell right time and you can’t fix. Everything in your room, including coffee k cups were added fees. They nickel and dime you. On positive side, restaurants were excellent, all waitresses were very nice and food was great! Room itself was comfortable and clean and housekeeping was very good. Plenty of towels and toiletries. So in a nutshell, nice room, good food but any extra’s were overpriced and front desk staff inexperienced (at least the ones I dealt with). 3 out of 5 stars

Yes! No hot water for shower or sink. Called maintenance at 11:00 pm and were told it was fix and we just needed to let it get hot. 12:45 AM still not even warm. 9:00 AM still no hot water. Checked out and they gave me a $50 credit. Big deal!!!!! I would have rather had hot water for myself and my wife to shower in.

The room had no heat. Requested another room. No hot Saturday morning and then again on sunday. Parking was extremely sparce especially when it is so cold. Found out Saturday night there was valet parking. No sign posted anywhere as the attendants were inside at the front desk chatting. Saturday night we sat at the Waterfront Bar and had a very good experience. Carlos the bartender was pleasant. We have been there several times before but this time was very disappointing. I hope to receive a response and hoping to return this summer.

Was a bit difficult to walk around with stroller to different buildings a lot of half levels did have elevators but it’s time consuming going in and out of elevators for only 4 stairs. Beautiful clean resort and a nice warm cozy room for a perfect winter getaway!

The price for drinks at the 240 West was very overpriced. A Crown Royal on the rocks was an exact single measured shot. And then an added 3.50 up charge for the glass with ice! Over $14 not including tip.

We would definitely return, but will pass on a drink at the bar.

I think I would like this resort. The room was nice and the view was good. However, I think it had a bad day. We could hear our neighbors and their TV clear as day. Our TVservice didn't work. We couldn't get any local or cable channels. And the worst part is, we had no hot water. It is awful to start your day with a cold shower, when it's twenty degrees outside. Also, only one person working the front desk on a busy weekend.

Overall good experience. The Warerfront restaurant situation though was a disaster. The hostesses were super overwhelmed. Don’t know why. Not crowded and waited for nearly 45 minutes just to have a table cleaned off but there were several open tables available. We were seated and orders taken but it took over a 1/2 an hour just to get our soft drinks and a Leinenkeugel beer, but before we got them, the waiter came over to ask what our drink order was because he forgot what he wrote down. We waited another half an hour for our food. Fish & chips was good. The BLTwas not. Tasted like liquid smoke was brushed on the bacon. Gross!

Room was cute but wallpaper was peeling from the walls and shades on windows were beat up.

About Avani, there was always something, it was very cold in the pool area, the coffee machine only worked for a few hours and broke, the last 2 times I was at Avani the coffee machine didn't work :(((
I have nothing to complain about the staff, they always clean, bring clean towels, or collect wet towels, they are very nice!!!

I used to love staying on this hotel but this vacations was really bad first day of my stay the pool was closed because someone popped on it then all the kids were on the jacuzzi playing with the balls that were on the pool then i went to the front desk to talk to them about this then the receptionist was really rude and he told me that the they sent and email to let everybody know but I didn’t get one then i told hime he can check if they sent me a n email he realized that my name wasn’t in the list then he apologized too late! well that pass next day i went to the pool again but i didn’t went in to the pool i stayed in the jacuzzi then a big guy jumped in to the pool i think he hit the ground or something he came out with his arm bleeding he didn’t notice and came in to the jacuzzi soo bad experience never going back they have staff to watch but they were inside the office talking to each other instead of watching the pool.

I’ve been coming to the Abbey since the 1980s.
We recently had a 2-night stay. The first night, our room was on the second floor in building 6, which made it very hard to keep warm due to the vaulted ceilings.
We also requested a room with a bathtub in the shower, but none were available.
It was comfortable enough to work remotely in the room at the desk.

On the second day, our new neighbors were extremely loud, yelling and swearing, so we requested a new room. The next room on the first floor in building 5 was a lot warmer. We appreciated the quick accommodation to our request.

We ate at the Waterfront for dinner, where the hostess was quite accommodating, ensuring we had a seat we liked and were warm enough, since part of the restaurant was mostly windows. The food was pretty good. Our waiter seemed rushed.

Breakfast at the 240 West restaurant was sub par. The buffet had some variety, and the fruit was exceptionally fresh and delicious. My husband ordered an omelet for his meal, but sent it back because it was pretty liquidy. They took that off the bill for us.

We didn’t try the pool or hot tub because there were a lot of families, and kids in the hot tub.

We were told Waterfront was a “family-friendly” restaurant, but bar staff asked me to control the noise level of our families’ children. It was not busy where we were seated, but certainly busy at the bar. I’m not sure what they expect from children aged 4-11. Also, we were seated at 7pm and did not receive our food until 8:15pm.

Rooms were cozy and homey just could use a little upkeep, there was water damage in the bathrooms and could use some new paint. The “arcade” was pretty run down, mismatched cheers and tables made it feel like someone’s old basement. Bathrooms in pool area were dirty. Seems like most of the staff were teenagers. I think it was probably amazing in its day but needs some updates. House keeping did an awesome job making up our room when we are out for the day. I appreciate the extra effort they put into arranging the kids stuffed animals on the bed. The ice rink was shut down as well even though I think it could have been open if someone put the effort into maintaining it. The restaurants and bars on site were very nice. We enjoyed the food and drinks. The lobby was decorated really nice for the holidays.

We reserved a room with a king bed, but they said none were available, so we were given a room with two queens. We were given two $15 vouchers for breakfast as compensation, which was nice.

In our room, the bathroom could have been cleaned better. We noticed black mold in the shower. There was also debris on the bathroom floor. The carpet could have been vacuumed better. The bedsheets had something crusty on them and there were stains on one of the accent pillows. We did not have cups, bottled water or body soap on the first night; we got them the 2nd day.

Service at the Waterfront restaurant was okay but a little slow. The food was decent. The funfetti cake was really good. We were given silverware wrapped in napkins that were still wet.

240 West was good. We had breakfast and dinner there. Service and food were good. The staff was attentive and checked on us regularly.

We enjoyed the fires and hot apple cider at night. The live music was a nice touch.

Nice quiet hotel. Room was clean and specious. Friendly staff . Not overstimulated by loud music. Enough activities for the kids around the resort, board games, balls in the pool, daily movies either at the pool or small movie theater.
Overall, we are happy with our stay. Couple things to mention, the hotel is big and was hard to navigate at times , it felt like a maze, it would be helpful if there would be more directions/ signs. Also, it was cold in most common spaces( hallways and seating areas ) going from the indoor pool to your room felt very uncomfortable.
We were disappointed we could not use the ice skate ring, it was closed.

Rooms were fairly cleaned on the surface. Floors needed to be vacuumed. The bathroom provided 1 set of towels/wash clothes.....we were a family of 3. Housekeeping was a bit slow to respond. Bartender at Waterfront Bar (Austyn) was clearly having a rough day: slamming down cups, huffing and puffing when I asked for a cocktail menu, unpleasant disposition. I'm assuming the bar was short staffed and he was frustrated. Nonetheless, his customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

We stayed at The Abbey Resort for three days, and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. Considering how much we paid, we expected a welcoming and comfortable stay, but it felt uncomfortable from the start. Most staff were not friendly or welcoming.

At the bar, we waited to be served, but the bartender never acknowledged us. After standing there for some time, we felt embarrassed and walked away. Another African American couple shared a similar experience: the bartender slammed his hand on the bar before taking their order, with no clear explanation when questioned.

We also had issues with basic room accommodations. We requested additional washcloths and hand soap, which took hours and a second request to receive. The shower water was not hot, making it uncomfortable, and the parking lot had a strong odor of urine—unexpected for a resort of this caliber.

With repeated negative interactions and seeing few guests or staff who looked like us, it was difficult not to feel race may have played a role. No guest should feel ignored or unwelcome—especially after paying good money. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet expectations.

The room we stayed was dirty and outdated. The mattress was very dirty. When I showed the pictures of the mattress to the manager ( her name was Veronica), her first response was why did you take the bed cover. She didn’t apologize, instead she started arguing with me that the mattress is not dirty, it look like this from the flipping. The water in the shower was barely warm. I will never go there again and don’t recommend this place to anyone.

The first problem was planning dinner for Christmas Eve and Christmas

I called 6 different places myself and everything was closed. I decided to call Abbey at the front desk and figured they would give me a better idea of what was open. Called waterfront and someone said they would call me back. Never did.

I was told 240 west was the only thing opened.

Made reservations because that was my only option.

Checking in was not welcoming. The gentleman that helped us was not inviting. Couldn’t answer if law enforcement discount was offered. Asked for AAA as well and he said “just ask when you check out”

The hotel seems to be very outdated. They're not taking care of it. The carpet was dirty throughout the hotel. Fixtures in the rooms were worn. There is either no heat in the hallway. Or the heat is insufficient in the hallway. Because the hallways are freezing! You freeze every time you leave your room walking anywhere in the hotel. Especially to the pool. They did not answer the phone the entire time we stayed here. Every time I called the phone would ring 30 times plus and I would hang up. No one would answer. I literally had to leave my room and walk through the cold hallway to the front desk for anything I needed. They charge you a daily resort fee but yet they have none of the amenities of a resort. There were a few activities for the kids. But nothing for the adults. There were no daily activities for the adults. There was no nightly entertainment. There were no manager cocktail parties. There was no free breakfast. There's no pool service. They couldn't even get the s'mores at the bonfire right. The first night they had no hot apple cider and ran out of s'mores. The second night they ran out of s'mores again. The ice skating rink was wasn't opened. They said they had bicycle rentals. It was 40° out we wanted to go for a ride and they weren't renting bikes. I give this hotel 2 stars.
