Super clean rooms. Great facilities and clean as well. Staff super friendly and outgoing. Price for stay was decently priced as well. Not to many people. I will definitely be coming back here. I didn't have time to try the restaurant but it is open till 12. We enjoyed the indoor pool and out pool and hottub super relaxing and clean. And they serve food and alcohol by the pool!

The room was very nice. The resort itself is lovely. -- I went to eat at the Waterfront restaurant, was seated ... and then completely ignored. No menu, no water, no server ... nothing. It was Not Busy at all. --- And so, I got up and left, went to the upstairs restaurant called 240 and was treated far better. The 240 \"comped\" my Lite Beer, they should have comped my whole meal, but at least they were decent to me. --- I told the woman at the front desk about my experience at the Waterfront upon check out. She seemed only mildly interested. -- I was only there for a 1 night get away... on my own ... and should have enjoyed my evening meal ... at the very least. -- I do love The Abbey, always have, and am sorry to have had this happen.

Absolutely wonderful stay! Room was excellent! Pools were very nice. Great to have a family and adult pools. The food at both restaurants was very good and reasonably priced.
Reservation staff and restaurant staff where excellent!
There are two staff that went above and beyond. I want to recognize them as a testment to how well management really cares about having the best staff
First, Stacy a server at the Waterfront restaurant gave the most excellent service I ever had. She made sure that our group a priority. Excellent effort to accommodate all our requests and there were many. Stacy was super friendly and really cared about us as customers. I wanted to give a token of my appreciation for her excellent service but I didn't catch her before she left. What is the best way I can send her my token appreciation?
Then there is Teresa, your grounds manager that helped out our group with a gesture of kindness when my niece lost her car keys. My niece has 4 very young childen. Teresa saw her struggling with the infant and two year old while calling for help. Teresa without hesitation asked how she could help. The rest of us were still at the beach with the storm coming. She offered to pick us up to get back to the resort before the storm hit, just in time! She made sure we were in a safe place as we waited for help. I would also like to send her a token of our appreciation. I don't know what your policy is for that sort of thing. Management should be extremely proud of two

Our room was decent. The shower had a glass door which is not ideal for bathing children. Not many tv channels, but the grounds were well kept and plenty of activities outdoors to keep us busy. We went in the pool, played free board games, tried out the theater, and joined in fire pit s’mores. My daughter loved the pool and arcade. The coffee shop was good and the hotel restaurant Waterfront was delicious. We adores the soft pretzels with cheese at the gazebo by the pool.

I definitely loved this resort and the time spent there was memorable my only issue that I would of had about my entire stay was upon checking out i was presented with a bill for watching movies that i never watched. they waived one of the bills which was the smaller one, but had me pay for the bigger amount

Old and dirty. Lady at the front desk tried to pull a scam, where she claimed Expedia reservations made online only charge a minimal booking fee, and the resort must charge full price again for the room. Which isn’t true! She made a big issue of it, finally admitted she was wrong, and put me in a filthy room next to an exit door that opened and closed every two minutes. Place is very run down.

We love staying at the Abbey resort. I has become one of our summer traditions. However this time was a little disappointing. Our room (along with rooms in our building) lost hot water for 24hrs or so, about halfway through our 2 night stay.
It was difficult to shower the kids after the pool, and we decided to make other plans during our stay to keep us out of the hotel.
Upon check out we were only refunded our resort fees. We were disappointed with how it was handled, and were offered zero empathy from the front desk because we booked through expedia.

The only real complaint I had was I had never stayed there, felt a little lost. The hotel is like a labyrinth I had five bags with me and no trolleys to take my stuff to my room. A nice man helped me and also helped with explaining directions and the elevator on how to go to where I needed to go to visit a friend, also staying in the hotel. For him I was grateful.

I guess front desk needs to maybe ask people if this your first time here? Maybe explain where you’re going. Over all I will come back. Room service was amazing and people were very friendly. Just thought it was odd to have nothing to put a lot of luggage on. Also, no explanation on things besides the paper they give you. Which was helpful.

The property was beautiful overall and the spa amenities were great. Our room was comfortable but lots of cosmetic issues like stains on the carpets and walls which would make me think twice about the amount of money paid per night to stay here. Room service was a plus which extended to places outside of the room like the pool and spa areas. While we were told there were lots of Ubers/ Lyfts in the area we had a hard time getting rides consistently, even when scheduling rides in advanced, rides would be cancelled last minute as there were no drivers to accept the rides.

I read a lot of reviews both good and not so good prior to booking and here’s what I can say. We loved the place. While it’s an extremely large, sprawling place it was also quiet and very enjoyable. There was a wedding taking place by the marina. The Abbey is kid friendly but also romantic for couples. In some of the reviews people discussed the upkeep. Sure they could do some updating and repairs but with the size of the resort, we felt that it was in very nice condition overall. Lots of parking, several pools (indoor and outdoor) plus hot tubs. There are a couple restaurants, a bar, live music and a coffee bar. We stayed in building 4 which was in the middle and very walkable to everything at the resort. The staff were very very friendly. Thank you for a nice overnight getaway, we will be back.

I loved our lake room view- but to be honest, the room smelled quite musty. And I know you shouldn’t expect much from a pull out couch, but sleeping on the floor probably would have been better.

It was great to be there on opening weekend for the pool. But I don’t know if they were ready. The “hot tub” was like a Luke warm bath….and the kids pool was just not the right color.

It is super convenient and close to a few great restaurants.

The indoor family pool area was inadequately maintained, particularly the hot tub, which was in a deplorable state. It was excessively dirty, with substantial foam and visible brown dirt spots. Abbey Resort imposes an amusement fee exceeding twenty percent; however, it appears that insufficient funds have been allocated for proper cleaning. I observed many young children, who could potentially develop skin issues. The towels and sheets in the room were quite aged. Additionally, the ventilation in the room was insufficient. I do not recommend this resort and do not intend to return.

This was our third stay at the Abbey and while we always have a wonderful time, this time was a little underwhelming on site. The first night of our stay they were reroofing a building which was very noisy - we woke up to this again at 7:30a Saturday morning and it continued throughout the morning. We enjoyed the harbor views but also found out that side of the hotel/lawn is much noisier at night with people out on the lawns than other rooms we have stayed in. The air conditioning in our room ran about every 15 minutes and was extremely noisy and sounded as if it was a working extremely hard. Coffee and drinks on site were great as well as being able to rent a boat on site.

The room was definitely clean, I see an attempt at modernization but it could be better. The water pressure in the room was awful. The avani spa pool is not included with a stay, but you could purchase a day pass for 50$ a person 😂. Laughing so I don’t cry because majority of the reason I chose this hotel was for that pool. We were in town for a wedding and the 50$ a person wasn’t worth the hour we’d spend there. Staff instructions on how to get to indoor pool that is included with the stay were very confusing, and not one person just offered to walk us there, and we asked like 3 people. All in all I would try this resort again in the summer time, the outdoor pools look nice and I’d like to take advantage of some of the other perks, but for May pre-memorial day… book yourself a stay in downtown Geneva.

We booked this hotel because we were celebrating an important birthday. The Main Reason we picked this hotel was for the indoor pool. When we finished dinner we dressed for the pool and arrived just to be told the pool was Closed for a private party. NEVER WERE WE TOLD IF THIS DURING BOOKING OR CHECK IN. Very disappointing to be charged full price and not be able to use what we paid for. Probably will not book here again.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel because we wanted to be close to the Yerkes Observatory (we had a nighttime tour). The architecture is really interesting both outside and inside and the decor reminds you that you're in a coastal town. We had a view to the Abbey Marina and waking up to that was priceless. The spa facilities are really big and so is the pool. The gym had everything I needed to do a full workout and it was spacious, which was great. The hotel is 15-20 minutes from Lake Geneva so you can drive or Uber easily. I highly recommend this hotel.

This resort and surrounding area of Fontana was excellent!! Stay in Fontana and on the resort where they have the best restaurants and little shops. The people are absolutely delightful in this area! The Avani spa is a must do! It has a beautiful tranquil and relaxing environment. Loved the salt room and pool area! I do not recommend visiting the city of Geneva on the opposite side of the lake/resort. It’s designed to rip you off! They charge $10 to walk on the 30ft size beach and will ticket you in a paid parking area for the dumbest reasons (they’re worse than Chicago). Anyway, I highly recommend the Fontana Abbey resort just be sure to get a view with the water! It’s exhilarating!

The bartenders at the Waterfront restaurant were great, attentive, and fun. Carlos and Isiah. The second day we went to the bar, Carlos had our drinks made as we were walking up to the bar-that’s great service! Food was ok, the chicken Caesar wrap-I would never order again but the pulled pork sandwich was good. We did complain about our neighbors as the TV was on all night , we could hear it through the walls and we weren’t putting up with that the following night. Staff took care of it right away. My husband and I have been coming to this resort for over 10 years, this is the first time that I’d say our stay was just ok. The staff is always great.

the stay was uneventful and the resort is nice. i arrived later at night, and it took me 20 minutes to find my room, enlisting middle of night maintenance workers to help find my way - they had difficulty too. there is very little signage. it was comical. the property is very large with lots of buildings and rooms. for expedia users, they charge a resort fee on top of the price you are booked in at.

The Abbey is an icon and worth a stay IF you can get an affordable rate. It’s an old hotel so don’t expect things to be perfect. Despite them continually coating things in white paint it doesn’t take long or much effort to find things wrong/worn with the hotel. The room was clean enough but had red stains on the carpet and the bathroom needs an update, thorough cleaning, and caulk update. The spa is their main selling point but even there things like the steam room are in desperate need of more cleaning, tiles replaced, etc. It was worth the stay but keep your expectations lower and then you won’t be disappointed.

The property is an old Wisconsin lake front resort. There is no getting around that but they take such good care of the rooms and all of the facilities that it makes up for it. We stayed in a standard room which is obviously older but it’s super clean and really well taken care of. We had Easter brunch which was delicious. If you want an old fashioned Wisconsin lakefront resort vibe this is it.

Our King room faced the harbor which was a beautiful April view! The room was a good size for two with a couch and coffee table. I wasn’t a fan of the shower head because you couldn’t adjust it. I’m short so the water was showering my face and I couldn’t avoid getting my hair wet. The resort was clean and the grounds were well maintained. Unfortunately, the pool was a no go because it was over capacity. There were children in the hot tub so we didn’t use it either. Fortunately, there was the Avani Spa, an adult only, spa with a hot tub and pool. It was very nice but for a price of $50 per person. The lady at the front desk was not very polite; still a nice, relaxing, experience! The only time we ate at one of the restaurants was the 1024 which was not a good experience! We called about the breakfast schedule and we were told breakfast was served until 11:00. When we got there it was a breakfast buffet with no menu option. We tried the buffet but all the food, which was limited for the price, was cold! Of course we didn’t eat it and the manager seemed irritated that we complained. We did get a recommendation to Sammy’s On the Square which was delicious! We enjoyed visiting with Carlos, the bartender at 290 West which is inside the resort. It was a nice place for a nightcap and the piano player added a wonderful ambiance. We woke up on Easter to a Easter Bunny handing out candy and they offered two Easter Egg hunts on Easter. It’s wonderful for families with activities daily!

I have stayed here multiple times. It has always been my husband and I’s get away spot. This last time we stayed it was unfortunately a different experience. It was so incredibly loud we couldn’t sleep. There were children running around everywhere we went unsupervised by any parents. It made our stay very unpleasant. I myself have children but I would not allow them to disrupt others that way. Especially late at night.

I’d also like to address the salad I got from room service. I paid over $20 for a salad and it was so incredibly small and the lettuce was browning.

Lastly, about an hour after I checked out I realized I forgot an item in the room. I called the front desk and explained the situation and that I live an hour away but my husband was still in the area, if they could please go check for my lost item. They said they couldn’t do that and forwarded me to a lost and found. They wanted me to fill out a form and they would get back to me…. I called back and said can we please have someone just go check the room it was super close to the front desk to begin with. They said I’ll forwarded you to house keeping. Housekeeping didn’t answer. I called back up to the front desk and got another person and it was as easy as okay! Yeah let me check!

I’m very upset at my visit this time.

The Abbey Resort and Spa was spectacular! The staff from the front desk, restaurants, bars, spa, activities, security and cleaning were always helpful, considerate and attentive.

Their communication via text messages and email to me before I arrived and during my stay kept me well informed.

They have something very special here! I'll tell all my friends about the Abbey. I'll definitely return as well. Please keep the light on for me. 😉
