I love suburban neighborhood. Every time I stay in Tokyo, I visit new neighborhoods. It’s fun to walk along the river and see all the little cafés and coffee shops. It’s quite a change from the hustle and bustle of Shibuya and Shinjuku.
It’s nice that they have Onsen with a sauna.
The staff were very nice and helpful.

We booked last-minute, so it was a little pricey... but we love it here. Comfortable, spacious room, helpful staff, tasty lobby tea (and noodles at night), and a delightful public bath and sauna! The only downside is how limited the women's bath hours are.

The room was surprisingly roomy for the price (anyone traveling in Tokyo knows how small they can get—this is what the size you’d expect in American cities). The public baths were clean and relaxing. They offered delicious snacks and drinks several different times of the day. The staff were very kind and helpful.

Great location. For the price, we got a very spacious room. They also had free popsicles, probiotic drinks, udon, and breakfast (cereals). Many perks. The hot spring was a nice bonus. Literally right next to Starbucks Reserve, 1 mile from Shibuya Crossing... seriously the perfect location.

The noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in!

The hotel may be comfortable but the construction work going on ALL NIGHT next door was so loud that sleep was virtually impossible. The hotel neither mentioned it nor apologised but simply explained it wasn’t their fault. It’s now 1am and I am trying to sleep but the drilling and construction noise is ridiculous. The hotel have offered a free late check-out assuming I can spend all morning sleeping!

The property said there was a spa but access was restricted if you were male or female on certain days. I stay at Dormy Inns all over Japan and the free breakfast was very minimal. I'd rather pay for a full sized breakfast.

We had a lovely stay. The staff were all friendly and the room was clean. There was even a washer dryer in our room which really helped. I used the public bath which was really nice. People with tattoos are not allowed in the public bath though which wasn't an issue for us. Overall a recommended stay.

It is a very basic hotel. For the price that I paid, I was excepting a little more in terms of comfort. I liked the onsen which I used once during my 5 days stay. The Starbucks reserve in front of the hotel was a surprise that we truly enjoyed. There are only 7 in the world. Big downfall was the connection to stations for public transportation. We had to use taxi several times. Another disappointment is that we had to pay $20 extra to use the sofa bed for my kiddos instead of them sleeping on tithe two twin beds. That was not mentioned until we were asked to pay extra. Overall, it is OK but I feel it was expensive compared to other options.

Pros about the hotel are, quite neighborhood away from the busy city, room and bathroom were decent size, nice public bath house on the first floor.
Cons not close to public transportation the closest train station is a 15 minute walk, the hotel is quiet old stained carpet and lots of dust, and they want to charge you for just about anything early or late chk out is 1000 per hour, if you use hot water for more than 30 they will charge, if you leave extra trash in the room they will charge you, and on top of that it wasn't a cheap hotel. So I definitely don't recommend it.

We would be happy to try another Dormy Location.

As to the balcony, we never opened the windows but there appeared to be a small ledge you could stop out onto, but certainly not a chair or anything. The room was large and comfortable, the bathroom very nice with a washing machine. There was a sink/microwave/fridge in the entry way. And a reclining chair with footstool. We would certainly recommend anyone to stay here. And it was across the street from the Stabucks Roastery - a great experience.

I picked this place because it is literally right across the street from the Starbucks Reserve Roastery. Aside from that lovely perk, the hotel is great! The staff was very friendly and able to explain everything to me (a non-Japanese speaker).

They provide some toiletries like toothbrush/toothpaste, combs, and disposable razor in the lobby and have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash on the room. The room was pretty spacious and clean. The room had a clean shirt, pants, and slippers that can be worn throughout the hotel which is nice when going to the public bath/sauna. The public bath is nice with a locker & key to store your items, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner at the stalls and razors, qtips, and hair tonic/lotion/one other in the dressing room. The hot tube was a nice temperature for relaxing.

The free food, drinks, and snacks during certain times of the day was also very nice! I would definitely recommend this place to others.

This was my very first time traveling to Japan. The hotel and staff were absolutely tremendous. A very quite stay, at times I felt that I was the only guest there. The room was great for me. Bathrooms are small but this is common for Japan. It was nice having the Starbucks Roastery literally 20 steps from the front door of the hotel. Don Quijote store also extremely close along with 7-11 and Family Mart within walking distance. Bus stop right around the corner (Bus 43 I believe) easy to Shibuya Station. Very cozy, simple and clean hotel. If you like peace and quiet I fully recommend. Thank you Dormy Inn Express.

BEWARE Not recommended for solo females OR couples with females! I chose this place because of the listed spa amenity. It says separate areas for men and women. FALSE that is a lie! There is 1 area only, and separate DAYS for men and women. Men get 5 days (weekdays), women get 2 days (weekends). I arrived Sunday night, and the lady took so long to check me in and finally got to explaining the spa at which point I said, wait, so I only have 20 minutes now to use the spa? She said \"Sorry, 15 min sorry\" So I had to rush, while she was still talking to me about the ramen I don't care! So I got to use the spa for 10 min! So I booked another hotel, Super Hotel I stayed at before that I know has 2 separate areas and the spa is open ALL night until 9am. I asked Dormy to give me a refund because of the false advertising. Of course they say sorry no. I would not have stayed there if I had known this. Seeing that I was a single female booking they should have notified me. And what I really cannot tolerate is gender inequality. I know this is a more male dominate society, but that is old and backwards and I do not support that type of thinking. Please do not support this gender inequality! If you are a woman, this is NOT the hotel for you. Location is also weird and not much to walk to. Who cares about the Starbucks you can get that anywhere. I left first thing in the morning, I don't care if I lost money on it, I wasn't going to stay there a minute longer.

Dormy Inn Express Meguro Aobadai is an excellent hotel! It is right across the biggest Starbucks Reserve Roastery which is next to Meguro River, 20 steps away from Toyota Car Rental & 40 steps away from Don Quijote!! There are many nice restaurants in the vicinity!! Also about 15 min walk to Naka-Meguro station. About 20-30 minutes’ walk to Shibuya Station. Perfect location!! ❤️❤️❤️

The room we had was huge - two twin beds & a sofa bed, plus washer/dryer within our room. The public bath was also a welcome sight after a long day out. There are free smoothies/coffee in the morning, & free ramen at night. Fantastic accommodation for families!! 👍👍👍

I liked the hotel. The rooms are very small except for a handful of larger, suite like rooms, but they are for families. My room had no view at all but a frosted window looking at a brick wall. However, it was clean, had good amenities, and the location was stellar. I far prefer it to the Dormy Inn Asakusa which has slightly more dated rooms that are even smaller. I should have stayed in Meguro longer.

Wonderful stay.

The hotel itself is an amazing place, secluded and to be in front of a Starbucks Reserve Roastery, which is yet to open as I stayed there, I think it makes for convenience. Walking 20 minutes to Shibuya is really fun, especially as it entails quiet roads.

The room was very tidy and well maintained. The only thing is perhaps to have a spare pillow to be able to sleep a bit more effectively but otherwise no complaints. The room surprised me with how much space there was.

Dormy Inn is a cozy place to stay. We enjoyed it with the whole family. They upgraded our room, service was good, room has a washing machine, the best part was the free noodles we get everynight. Also, there’s a free bike rental for two hours. There are a lot of freebies: free curling iron rental, foot relaxation sheet, etc.

The downpart though is no free bottled water was provided in the room and no water station was available. You have to buy at their vending machine.

But unlike other big hotel chains, Dormy provides comfort and relaxation.

A basic hotel with helpful staff (though limited English). Room clean and adequately comfortable. Note there is a construction site next door with almost continuous noise day and night. Area apart from that is pleasant with many restaurants by the river. Main downside is distance from subway (about 12 mins walk).

A step above capsule hotel

This hotel is very basic but worth the stay for the rate. It is a step above a capsule hotel as you have a private studio and bathroom. It was a quiet room and equipped with all the basics you need for a comfortable stay, including a powerful AC and reliable WIFI. I only stayed one night and found it met my needs. The only downside was I expected to use the spa facilities and was caught unaware that it was for Men Only during the week and COED on the weekends, so plan accordingly if you want the full experience. Also, if you have tattoos there are rules about covering them in the spa. I didn't try the food so I can't speak to the dining, but the neighborhood offered a lot of walkable options for good coffee and food. Last but not least, the staff was helpful and polite even with minimal English.

We were under the impression that it would have an additional sleeping option for a child (cot, sofa, etc) but it only came with one bed. No cot was available. They rated our room based on everyone sleeping in a king bed.

The rate dramatically increased the next day when we inquired about staying longer and didn't have much time to decide if we wanted to take it, but they said that they would give it away even though they clearly had no one else asking to book it. We had to make a decision in 45 mins or they would \"give it away\".

The public bath in their hotel was reserved for men only except for some time on weekends, and holidays for women. While the rest of my family was allowed to use it, one person in our family wasn't allowed.

If you can accept their ridiculous rules, everything else was fine. We decided to find another place that was more logical.

Only thing I can say to the detriment of this place (and unfortunately Japan in general) is their intolerance of Tattoos.
I've got three pieces and the first thing said on the Spa Facility sheet was no tattoos allowed.
This was extremely disappointing and ruined things a bit for me.
However, the room, staff and comfort were excellent.

Our stay at the dormy inn express was extraordinary!!!
I was expecting economy accommodations and was pleasantly surprised!
Location was great. Staff were accommodating. Ample toiletries and bottled water provided in the room free of charge for the duration of our stay. In room washer/dryer, extra towels and pyjamas provided.
Breakfast was excellent with an endless supply of coffee and smoothies - just what I needed in the morning ;)
Complimentary Ramen in the evenings was a nice surprise.
I would give it 10 stars for the cleanliness.

Great Hotel one train stop away from Shibuya

The hotel was wonderful, they had breakfast and free dinner. The rooms were large and very comfortable with a spacious bathroom and nice deck. The staff were friendly and let us check in 4 hours early. The only downside to the hotel was that it was about a 10 minute walk to the transition and our JR Japan Rail Pass did not cover the 110 yen ride there and back to Shibuya train station. This was by no means the hotels fault, just something to consider when booking your trip.

It was a pleasant stay a bit of a walk from the station from a long day out but it wasn't too bad. The shuttle in the morning is a nice touch even though we only used it twice during our stay because we usually left after 11. The amenities provided are very convenient we were there for 7 days and there was an option for house keeping everyday but there was a charge which is weird.... Or is that normal in Japan...anyway overall good stay and the streets surrounding have many restaurants and small shops!!

We arrived very late into Haneda and stayed at this hotel one night before moving into a self contained apartment. It was a quick taxi ride from the airport which was perfect with our 5yo daughter. The nakameguro cherry blossom viewing area was literally right outside this hotel which was a very pleasant surprise on our first morning in Tokyo. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast provided was delicious. To be honest we wished we were staying a little longer to be able to enjoy the onsen as well but maybe next time!

If you are a fan of Dormys (as I was) let me caution you that this Dormy is not like the others. Note: it is an \"Express\" which might explain the difference. Even though I was paying $150+ per night, room cleaning was not included, yet the rooms had nowhere to dispose of garbage/put out laundry so after a few days they were unbearable to be in. This lack of cleaning might help explain the weird stale stench to them (we switched rooms on arrival but both smelled), the windows are frosted and face a building wall, giving the feel of sleeping in a basement, their cafe is also windowless and their \"light\" breakfast is sugary pastries, canned tasting ham and runny eggs. The room clothes offered are awful old polyester, the bath located in basement is men only except for a few hours on sat/sun. Overall very disappointing. The area is great, the staff are nice but you will dread your mornings and nights here.

we stayed for just one night. The rooms are small as it seemos to be standad in japan but extremely practical. Everything has its place and it makes sense. Breakfast is delicious. Free wifi and bathing area for men.
Hotel lies just on the outskirt of shibuya which is great for shopping and there is a free bus to the subway station in the morning making it also great for sightseeing. Would gladly stay again.

Great hotel on vibrant street

After a short 10min walk from Naka-meguro station (subway) down a street full of restaurants, bars and supermarkets we came to the Dormy Inn. Located right next to a Don Quijote (a Japanese shop that sells absolutely anything you could ever want) the hotel was beautifully furnished to a high standard with a large flat screen tv on the wall and was luxury for the mere £65 a night we paid. Loads of free toiletries in the bath room including razors, toothbrushes, hair brushes as well as the usual shampoo and body wash. This was a great hotel with friendly staff and free ramen noodles after 9:30pm at night. Couldn't fault the hotel and once you master the Japanese rail system very easy to get to all parts of Tokyo!

Not recommended for short stay.

The room was dark and the carpet was dirty. Also, the quality of sheets and towels was very low. There was also a very bad smell in the room. I discussed the smell issue with the desk and the reply was a simple \"i am sorry!\". I didnt bother trying the breakfast or the noodle soup at night. There is chance that the food was all right.

The plus factor is the complimentary drinks and the ramen provided. The friendly front desk counter is very helpful. Unfortunately it is quite far from the subway.

Great neighborhood, the sort you'd want to live in

The Dormy Inn is accessed by a canal-side path lined with smart boutiques and bistros, a 10 minute walk from Nake-Meguro metro line, in the Meguro neighborhood. It is fairly easy to connect to other major metro and train stations in Tokyo from here. The hotel room we had was of good size, for Japan, with a double bed and a couch, full but small ensuite bathroom, and a \"pullman\" kitchen. The latter was not very serviceable, except for making coffee and a light snack or breakfast. In fact, it didn't come with any dinnerware or utensils. ( I imagine they need to be requested.). My room came with a decent continental breakfast: excellent coffee, juice, mini croissantes and rolls, margarine, jam, a chicken or corn cream soup, and a cole-slaw type salad. Service was excellent, friendly. There is a public bath with times designated for each gender. The safe area with many good restaurants and other services, and the serviceable room with friendly staff make Dormy Inn a good choice for visitors to Tokyo. Directions from airport: Narita Express to Shibuya Station, transfer to Toyoku (Designated on signs with red TY) to Nake-Meguro Station, about 2 stops.

Different!

Pros, spacious enough for our four bags, comfortable beds. Clean linen. No noise heard.
Good area. Kids loved it.
Cons, bathroom a little smelly (due to lack of air circulating/location top floor no bathroom window or extractor).
