I have mixed reviews. Location is wonderful. Staff is very friendly. Hotel is very clean. My room was on the smaller side for a king bedded room, but livable as its an older hotel. Bathroom was small.

My rating is due to 2 things. It took over 20 minutes to check in. That's really unacceptable for today's standards. A second person finally came out to help. The second incident was at the bar. We were seated for over 20 minutes again and were completely ignored. We gave up and left.

The rooms had poor lighting. In room 4360 the door did not lock and the window covering was broken. We ate most of our meals in the hotel. The menu choices were very limited. Our food was so salty. All in all very disappointing.

I am requesting a FULL refund. I checked in and after an hour, I was unable to get internet (despite being a Marriott Bonvoy Member) and demonstrating it was not an issue with my devices. After giving up on internet after return trips to the front desk, I began to unpack my bags in my room (Room 4353) only to find the largest cockroach I have ever seen scurrying about the floor. To be sure, this cockroach was SO large, it could not fit under the bathroom or main door to the room.

After videotaping it running around as proof, I re-packed my bags and went to the front desk to immediately check out (inconveniently at 11:53pm) to go find a different hotel. I informed the front desk of the unwelcome cockroach, showed them the video, and requested an immediate refund. I was met with ZERO empathy, no discernible apology, and was told because I booked my room through Expedia, I would need to seek a refund from them. I less-than-politely informed them I doubted Expedia had turned off my internet or placed the cockroach in my room.

Do not confuse the Williamsburg Inn with the Williamsburg Lodge. The former is an elegant high-end hotel, the latter is a dated roach motel.

The Lodge is very nice and the restaurant was great. The reason for my average rating was the $60 parking cost surprise at checkout. I booked and paid for my room on Expedia. The person that checked me in did all the typical check in paperwork and issued me a parking hang tag and told me how to get to the garage and room. I was never informed that parking would cost $30 per day. At check out I was charged for parking and was told by the front desk clerk that I should have told about the parking cost because I could have parked on the street for free! Yes, there was plenty of street parking right outside our Custis building. In addition the room had food wrappers in the night table drawers, cups on the floor and clearly the room had not been vacuumed. Other than that the room and bath were clean.

The location was the best! Everything is within walking distance. The lobby smelled amazing! The staff was very professional from the front desk to our cleaning person and accommodating.
The hotel and room resembles the colonial Williamsburg feel.
The only complaint would be others who were checking in late( a huge family) were slamming doors and talking in the hallways really late.
Also the water in the shower was not that hot.
We would stay again.

The hotel is very dated. The room was fine, but for what I paid I felt the hotel could have offered more. I have stayed in the Lodge in the past as well as the Inn, and next time I will definitely stay at the Inn. The staff was quite friendly, but also lacking in nattention to details. Such as making sure I had assistance with my bags, parking my vehicle. There is no valet parking at this hotel, and I found that to be strange.

On arrival it was chaos. Waited in a line of cars while folks in orange vests stopped to talk to people. On our turn we found out there was some kind of Gala happening. We were directed to a parking lot, but drove around and around — no parking spaces. Finally caught someone leaving and managed to grab a parallel spot, but we were told we should try to wake up early the next day and move our car because it wasn’t technically a spot. I asked if there was somewhere else for guests to park and was told “it’s all full.” On check in there was only one woman working and she was overwhelmed. A line formed and we waited and waited as she tried to help someone on the phone who needed a ride back from…I’m not sure where. Many (three) other staffers watched this happen and did nothing for about 10 minutes. Finally one of them went behind the front desk and started checking folks in. Fast forward to check-out two days later…no one at the desk. No one at concierge. No one anywhere. And this was morning, not some odd time of day. We waited for a while, but there was no staff in sight. We finally left a handwritten note stating we were done with the room, then left.

Room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed, but not very soundproof. We could hear everything in the hallway and the adjacent rooms.

I’ll give a lot of grace here, because of the gala. But there should, perhaps, be parking set aside for hotel guests. And someone should have jumped in and helped sooner at the front desk.

I chose the lodge because of the location near colonial Williamsburg and the William and Mary campus. The location is great but the room was poor. It was very small, especially the bathroom which had no counter and poor lighting. The floor of the bedroom had very squeaky floor boards. I could hear people walking around on both sides and I am sure they could hear me. Also, I was charged $30 per day parking which I was not expecting.

My room is a rabbit hutch. The bathroom is closet sized. It has a mirror one quarter size of normal. The room needs renovation. This seems to be a convention center and there is a lengthy wait for a breakfast table. The place is less than ordinary. I was told parking was $25. When I arrived it was raised to $30. Tourist trap

We visited Williamsburg Lodge over the 4th of July weekend. The Lodge is upscale comfortable. We booked a Junior Suite that was spacious, nicely appointed, and came complete with a prep sink, mini fridge, and a coffee station.
The grounds are gorgeous and are within easy walking distance to all things Colonial Williamsburg is known for. If you prefer, you can board the resort bus which loops the property and get off and on as many times as you like,
There are many options for dining on property. You will definitely need a reservation to dine at one of the historic taverns; pricey but worth it.
Of course, the fireworks were the highlight of the stay, as local residents and vacationers alike came together to honor our country’s founding; simply outstanding!
We loved our stay at the Williamsburg Lodge. Highly recommended!
