The property is fine for this level of hotel.. much of it was clean and well cared for and it did have a nice feel to it.

I think with a modest investment they could improve dramatically. For instance, the first three lights I turned on when I entered my room did not work. Secondly, there was a space heater in the room but the room got down to about 45° that night because it was 34° outside in the morning... I'm sure there was a way to turn on the heater but this was not discussed by the attendant. Lastly, the bed comforter needed to be replaced and had a cigarette burn hole in it. It looks to be 20 or 30 years old... A completely different style. But the place is not without its graces and it was a good price. I just think they need to improve their maintenance and refresh the comforter and make sure that they provide working lights and great instructions for managing the window, air conditioning and heating. Some people like me don't like to run heaters at night so an extra blanket or two would be nice and very inexpensive to provide.

Parking was great since it was directly in front of the room. I had originally booked a room that was bigger but this one worked out fine. The price was good, staff was very nice and room was clean. It was nice have a Pancake House to walk to next door. There was a coffee room with water and ice but nothing else and it didn't open till 7am. We get up sooner than that but we made due. Overall very nice place to stay.

The room was so out dated, neglected, big orange stains on the ceiling. And to make it worst, no heat, they just pit a portable heater in the room. I jad to go to walmart to buy a blanket warmer and wear two warmer socks. I will never go to that hotel again.

The only heat in the room was a small tabletop space heater. This on a night that was going down to 17 degrees. I feel that the desk clerk should have made me aware of this before check-in.
He did say that the breakfast would be minimal - only cold cereal. When I went in in the morning even the cereals were empty. So, effectively, no breakfast.

The staff at the Inn was extremely pleasant, however that was the only thing I can say good about my experience. When we went into the room, I found dead roaches on the table and immediately checked the beds. Thankfully, there were no bugs in the bed. The room was absolutely FREEZING and the heater under the AC did not work. The entire room had to be \"heated\" by a small space heater, which it did not do. I called the front desk to ask for an additional heater because it was so very cold but was told that they didn't have anymore. My son and I had to sleep in sweatshirts and jackets to stay warm. We left first thing in the morning. Would not stay at this facility again.

Check in went well but when we got to our room the heat wasn't working. We were going to call the front desk but there was no phone in our room so we had to walk outside to go to the office. We were told that the phone broke a few weeks ago and they never got around to putting another one in. The front desk guy (I think his name was Jay) brought a space heater to our room which didn't do much - outside temp was 28 degrees. Later in the evening power in our room and many of the surrounding rooms went out for about an hour so any amount of heat we had was lost. Power went out again around 7:00 am and at that point we decided we would check out and get other accommodations. My husband went to the office and said we were going to cancel the next 2 nights which we had booked and asked if there was anything that could be done since the night we stayed was a disaster. The same guy from the night before got belligerent and said we were looking for a free night which was not the case. He then said in his words \"You need to be out by 11:00. Not 11:10, Not 11:01, 11:00 or he would not authorize Expedia to refund our remaining 2 nights. Fortunately we were able to find another hotel which checked us in early and our trip was not ruined by this hotels run down facility and unprofessional staff member.

Williamsburg it fits right in. They did provide a space heater as this was the only means of heat. It worked ok. Breakfast should say coffee and a small muffin. We knew ahead and brought our own breakfast.

While I checked in, the building manager made fun of my face mask -- the mask was intended to protect others and myself from potentially fatal disease.

The room itself did not have working heat. The building manager came in and confirmed the heat wasn't working (in this room and also other rooms). He offered us a space heater but it didn't do a good job.

Also, the sheets looked like they might have bedbugs.

The building manager said some of the rooms still didn't have working phones after a storm several months ago. Even though this room's phone was working, this indicated possible other things wrong with the building/room.

Finally, some of the ceiling tiles were out of place, indicating possible other things wrong with the building/room.

We told the building manager we weren't satisfied, and he offered us a full refund. We then found another hotel and then checked out of this one shortly after checking in.

We then called Hotels.com to request a refund, and when Hotels.com called the building manager about this he approved a full refund. Hotels.com then told us we will receive a full refund.

I have never recommended a person not stay at a motel before, but unless the outside temperatures are mild - you will not be comfortable here. The room was unbelievably cold! Even with the space heater they gave us we had wear winter coats and hats inside the room. The bathroom was so cold we did not dare take a shower. This is not an unusual condition for this motel as the HVACs are inadequate for the rooms.

The best was out so they put little space heaters (1500W, I assume) in every room. The overnight low one might was 18F. The shower wasn't cold, but it wasn't hot either most times i used it. Iddly sometimes it was hot enough (but only on the hottest setting.)
No room service for a three night stay, but you can bring towels to the front desk to swap your dirty ones...

Just a few minutes from everything but well enough pff the beaten path so zero traffic noise, no trains, an older brick motor lodge-so quiet rooms

Walking distance to a pancake house next door and convenience store.

cons:
Limited hotwater (If you're alone-its enough for a shower)

Found out, you can not run the microwave white the window heater/AC is on or you trip a breaker and have to locate someone to turn it back on.

Remember that Pancake house I mentioned? You'll need it, The continental bfast here was horrible. White bread, cereal and those tiny mini muffins you buy for your kids' lunch...with four itty bitty ones in a bag: same thing here.

The fridge although working: didn't keep cool any of our food and had to be trashed the next day.

For an overnight for one or two persons: I'd do it again as it's about half price and its QUIET.

Wasn’t told until I arrived that the heat had went out. There was an air conditioner unit in the window for “heat”. I was offered a space heater if it was too cold. If I used the space heater I wasn’t allowed to use anything else. If I wanted to use the microwave or hair dryer I had to turn the a/c, heater off. Apparently this has been this way for some time. Was told to keep the bathroom door shut. When I had to go to the bathroom it was freezing cold in there. The room was clean. Not what I expected at all.

When my wife and I arrived on Nov. 27th the heater was barely blowing out hot air. We waited to see if the room would warm up overnight. Woke the next morning the rooom was freezing. I went to the front desk to inform them that our heat was not working, was told he would call maintenance. Went to lunch and shopping to kill time. Got back to the room at 2:30 pm, the heat was still not working. Went back to the front desk. I was told the heat couldn't be fix. I ask for a new room and was told he could give me a space heater. I told him I didn't want a space heater I wanted a new room. He then told me that I would have to wait for the manager to come at 7:00 pm. I said not going to wait that long. Then he ask me was I checking out? I told him yes. I ask would I get a refund? He said again, I would have to wait for rthe manager. I found another hotel to stay down the road.

Our room wasn't clean upon arrival. When we did receive it, the condition was horrible. There was pubic hair in the bathroom and teeth marks on the soap. No towels or shampoo was provided. There was marks on the sheets and the wall paper was peeling. There was no internal lock on the door and the room smelled of smoke. The corners of the room had not been vacuumed in a while and were covered in dirt.

Whenever I spoke to the clerk about this, they refused to help, saying I needed to go through the service I booked with and that they would not assist me. When I refused to take that answer, they took my keys back and refused to accommodate us. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Avoid this place like the plague.

The first room we were put in had a busted window only covered with cardboard which was not disclosed when we received keys. Secondly the manager had a nasty attitude when it came to us asking to switch rooms because of it. Next they gave room keys for our room to someone else even tho according to management their system would not allow that to happen. Someone walked into the room while we were there! Also the front lobby smelled like sewage that was not cleaned. Lack of breakfast even tho it was included as well as amenities lacking greatly.

In 40+ years of international travel this was the most filthy, dirty, putrid smelling hotel I’ve ever been in. The carpet looked like it was 30+ years old with embedded grease and stains. The paint was peeling, broken drop ceiling tiles, nats flying in the bathroom. It smelled like a garbage dump and smoke (in a non smoking room). The next door neighbor was smoking pot outside the room.

Jay the manager was fantastic. He didn’t seem surprised by my request for a new room. He changed us to a less dirty room with a carpet that wasn’t over 5 years old. No stains with an 80% better smell.

Never tried the free breakfast. I wouldn’t want to eat anything from this filthy place. And…I’ve eaten food in an outdoor jungle kitchen in the middle of Malaysia. I’m not squeamish.

Don’t stay here.

Our room had an odor (the pillows needed replaced (smelled)). The carpet was stained and dirty. We cleaned the AC/heat unit front and the bathroom with bleach. There was black mold around the tub/shower. The room just needed a refresh. Paint, new carpet and bedding would make it so nice. The man at the check in told us that if we wanted clean towels we had to bring our used ones to the front desk and trade them towel for towel. They apparently only clean on Mondays, so if our garbage cans needed emptied we were to sit them outside the room and someone one would come by and take the garbage and leave a new bag in the can. ??? Most of the staff were excellent and so very kind and accommodating. One staff member was not pleasant and prickly to get along with.

Great hub for Williamsburg family vacation

The Rodeway Inn Historic provided my family a great base for our visit to Historic Williamsburg and the surrounding area. It is within walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg and a short drive to Busch Gardens, Yorktown, and Jamestown. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Parking is free (typically drive right up to your door). There is an outdoor pool that looked inviting, but we never got around to using it.

The room air conditioner needed its filter cleaned, which I did myself, then it cooled the room nicely. Room and bathroom were in good condition with TV, refrigerator, microwave and hair dryer. We had a problem with our hair dryer, but the staff replaced it promptly.

On check-in we were informed that housekeeping would not be visiting every day, but could be requested on an as-needed basis. This worked out completely fine for us.

Breakfast was simple, but adequate for this price. Coffee, tea, SunnyD, cereal, toast, apple sauce, tiny donuts. The TV in the breakfast area was helpful showing local weather. There is also the Colonial Pancake House adjacent to the hotel if you require something more hearty. Hotel guests get a special discount there.

Other good dining options are close by as well.

One thing to note is that you should not enter the parking lot too quickly as the transition from the road is rather abrupt.

Our interactions with the housekeeping and front desk staff were positive. They were always helpful and friendly.

Much like a mom and pop from the good old days

Very nicely located. It's an older property from the 1950s, with that \"early American\" look that so many places in Williamsburg styled after during that era. I am sure it was a mom-and-pop at one time.

Because they've kept much of the original retro styling, there are some rough spots where it could use some refurbishing. But, I found it clean, comfy, safe, and very close to the historic district.

Very inexpensive and just fine for my needs. I will be staying here again on upcoming trips.

There was blood on the walls of the bathroom and in the floor. The neighbor seemed to be an extended stay resident that chain smoked and was airing out her life’s drama loudly right outside our door. The cable box was missing when we arrived and the one that the front desk replaced with was not working within minutes. (Southerner wanting to watch football) All that being said, the staff member was super helpful and made sure that the second box was in proper working order. He also firmly asked the extended stay resident to respect the other guests and she did. So the rest of the stay was good. The blood on the wall and floor was a small enough amount that I did not complain but it was gross. I just felt like we had complained enough and I hate to be that person.

-showerhead was rubberbanded on and could use a shower mat, bottom was super slippery and unsafe.
-you have to replace towels yourself, an even exchange. When asking for a couple extra for my daughter's OCD, i was lectured on \"babying\" my child by the man at the desk, completely dismissing my daughter's mental illness.
-the chair in the room had a wierd red spot, right on the top, blood??
-towels wete stained/discolored

-I think this hotel had a 7.6 rating on expedia, but I dont know how it got that!

One of the desk greeter was awesome. The other one said they don’t have any different kind of blanket. Daughter couldn’t sleep under the bed spread she needed a blanket. Also question why I needed an extra garbage bag and was hesitant to give me one.

The room was clean but really needs to be updated! I liked the convenience of being able to just take your luggage right into the room. The breakfast.. well I don’t even think you could call it that. But there is a pancake house right beside them…

Affordable and pleasant

Overall, this is an affordable and pleasant place to stay. The bed was very comfortable- great support for my husband's bad back. Breakfast left something to be desired. White bread, sugary cereals, pastries and waffles were the only choices. No good source of protein or fiber was offered. Sunny D was the only juice offered. Having some yogurts on hand and some whole grain bread would be an affordable way for the hotel to provide something a bit healthier in the mornings. Fresh fruit would also be a nice addition.
