The bed was nice and comfortable and the room was clean. The toliet was so low. Very hard to get up from it. The breakfast was fair. No eggs and French toast was dry. We have had better breakfasts at other Quality Inns.

This property is run down, dirty and pretty bad overall. We had blood on sheets in the room, there were bugs inside the old windows, did not feel safe and every surface of the desks and nightstands to the floor felt sticky and dirty. The doors to go up and down the stairs were so filthy you needed to use your elbow so as not to get too dirty. Icw doesn’t work except in main building and breakfast was just basic. We wanted to enjoy this place so badly but instead we just choked on the excessive chemicals used to clean or cover up the stink and got out as fast as we could. I won’t stay at these types of hotels anymore it’s just not worth it.

Room was ok - knowing 4 people were checking in very late - did not make sure room was properly prepared - 2 washcloths were left and air conditioner did not work - it was hotter in the room than outside. They didn’t let us know at check in this was an issue and at 2am we didn’t have the energy to deal with it.

It’s located in a busy, noisy area…. The police had a guy stopped in the parking lot and ha 3 cruisers blocking the entrance while they arrested him. There were dirty towels left hanging on the shower curtain bar….. bed was decent. Breakfast was shy on selection but the coffee was ok.

Get what you pay for cheap hotel would not recommend if your looking for a nice clean space though the bed was big and comfortable and I slept well. Front desk staff is nice and had no issues checking in or out.

This place was very run down. I would have been ok with it, but it was also not very clean. The common areas were fine, but the floors, furniture, bathtub, etc. in our room we're not clean. My dog spilled water after we'd just arrived and when we used a towel to wipe it up it came away very dirty. My child's socks turned gray from walking on the floors. We asked for another room and staff were very kind and allowed us to look around at others, but they were all in the same state. We ended up leaving a night early.

The staff was nice, the breakfast was decent, there was good parking, it was close to old port and the portland head light, the room and bathroom were good sized. My only complaint is the floor could have been swept and vacuumed better because I had to brush my feet off before I got in bed.

My husband and I have renamed this hotel the Subpar Quality Inn. It is old, dirty, no & maintenance upkeep. Our window was dirty and cracked. The floor were sticky & dirty, either not been washed in a while or dirty water was used washing them. The bathtub was so old and disgusting that neither chose to take a shower. The rug (if you want to call it that) was about a 1/8 inch thick and also disgusting & sticky. Walls were cracked with paint chipping.

We chose not to complain to management or move to another location because we were only staying one night and most of time was spent at a home for a birthday celebration not at the Subpar Quality Inn. The bed was the one item in room that was decent with a decent mattress and upgraded bedding.

We also attempted to purchase water $3.50 per bottle (you need cash or coins to do this) but the ONLY vending machine on the property DID NOT work.

We did not attempt to try the free breakfast because we figured that if the INFERIOR quality of the property and the room was awful, how good could a complimentary breakfast be?

It was a place to lay our heads & get up and leave. It is the old adage - you get what you pay for and DO NOT believe the pictures posted on line. BEWARE!

The hotel is conveniently located off the highway, and definitely met our needs. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was better than we expected. We had a full breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, biscuits, coffee, and juice. The hotel was clean, but somewhat rundown. Overall though, the hotel was comfortable and met our needs.

Mold under the air conditioning unit, broken/loose fixtures in bathroom. Bathroom fan only sometimes worked. Noise from hallway was pretty loud (ice machine, entry doors). Mini fridge had misfitting shelf.

Do not stay here. I had to change rooms because the bathroom and beds and floors were filthy (pubic hairs, stains, food). The faucet on the sink was broken.
We moved to a different room.
The hvac unit did not work by beds in the second room. We stayed multiple nights and only received housekeeping service once. When I asked the front desk (very rude) they said we were supposed to call to request. Funny, we hadn't done so on the day they actually cleaned. We were also locked out of our room at one point for no reason. As a single mom travelling with kids, I cannot in my right mind recommend this place to anyone. There are random/sketchy people walking through and parked in the lot and abandoned truck flatbeds. I asked for a modest refund - nothing. One night because we had unpacked our first evening and had to move after 9pm due to the state of the room. There doesn't seem to be a manager on duty - ever. Again, do not stay here. It is terrible.

Oddly sweet smell everywhere.
This smell was overwhelming and made me wonder what it was covering up. It got in our clothes and even my CPAP machine. I had to change all the hoses. Other than that , it was unremarkable and a good deal for the price. Nothing fancy.

We were a little disappointed in this property. The bedcover was stained. The tub was stained -- with what looked like shoeprints (how does that even happen?). The deadbolt on the door didn't work. We were in a connecting room and the deadbolt on that door didn't work either. They had added a 99-cent slidelock. The floor was gritty (disappointing since it's a laminate that's easy to dry-mop and wet-mop). Pillows were smaller than a standard pillow. The walls were so thin that we could hear the person next door snoring. But the breakfast was good: waffles, french toast, sausage, plus toast/bagels, muffins, cold cereal and oatmeal. Coffee/tea/hot cocoa, and juice. The staff kind of ignored us and chatted with each other as they checked us in.

I’m in my early 20s and I usually never write reviews, but this place is so bad. The room smells like weed and it was the opposite of quality. The couple in front of me request requested a new room because they found toilet paper in their bed. I tried to get a refund and they said that I’d have to go through the app I booked through. I booked a whole other hotel cause I couldn’t say there.

Parking was straightforward. Did not try the breakfast. The entire hotel had an odd scent - like overly powerful perfume. The room wasn’t dirty but it wasn’t clean. There were stains on the mattress cover and it appeared like it hadn’t been changed in a while. Stains on the floor. Weird stains on the walls in the bathroom. It looked like the shower head was going to fall off if you attempted to move it. The stopper on the sink was broken so the water drained slowly. The office chair for the desk was broken. The television was extremely small maybe 27” but it looked like there used to be a bigger wall mounted one at some point. There was a cannabis store sticker on the bedside table. The gentleman who checked us in was straightforward- did not ask how we were and immediately asked for payment card and ID. The room key cards were sticky and the little holder they came in was bent (reused maybe?). Overall, the room served its purpose but we wouldn’t stay here again.

They did not have the room I booked available and did not give me a refund when I brought this to their attention and told them I was uncomfortable and would not stay there. They insisted I try a different room. That would have worked If I didn't feel uncomfortable to begin with. Expedia tried to contact them and they never answered.

Biscuits were fresh tasting and delicious. The coffee was available. I parked directly below my room in a well lighted and safe feeling spot. The towel rack both inside and outside the shower stall were not attached to solid surroundings. If I'd slipped coming out of the shower, grabbed the towel rack, getting no support and then falling onto the hard sink.....why I can only imagine.

It was okay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable which is important. The coffee pot wasn't washed and the stoppers in both the sink and tub were broken and laying next to them. Both worked fine you just weren't able to take a bath or fill the sink. For an overnight or 2 it's okay.

They cancelled my booking when I tried to check in because I was traveling with a cat. It was one night. Instead me and my pet slept in the car that night and I got zero money back because the booking was non refundable. These people didn’t even try. I will never trust a “Quality” inn and suites again. They took my money and I had nowhere to stay. Completely unacceptable.

This hotel is one that I found unbelievable. I'm still in the state of disbelief about this location. When I got there, they charged my card three times. One of my cards that they build over a hundred dollars, and this was for just booking the room. Then they charged my other card for this stay and they proceeded to give me the key. I was thinking that they were going to give me a room in that building.I had no idea that outside that bldg there were more rooms. As stated they gave me the keys, I walked outside with my luggage on the cart. I was in total disbelief seeing were they assigned me. It was almost like watching a very bad movie where the building outside was like a shady motel. There were people hanging out behind the building.And they appear to be doing things in my opinion that were illegal. I don't even know if they stayed at that hotel or not. I felt very, very unsafe there.It is not a hotel I would ever ever recommend someone going to stay. So as I proceeded on to go to the room after being in shock of what I was seeing and the people that were staying there.I went ahead and went to the room when I opened the door to the to the room there was an awful, awful smell. I started having difficulty breathing, and then my sinuses were burning. I thought to myself, no I can'tbe happening. This is so very unacceptable, I proceeded with my luggage back to the building that appeared to be the main part of the hotel. I was told that I won't not be charged but they lied.

Shower curtain rod folling off, hair dryer fell off the wall’s attachment, room walls are half painted over the old paint: maybe it’s a new “style”! Do yourself a favor and stay away from it!

As soon as I walked in the lobby the smell of cleaning supplies was so overwhelming it made me feel sick. Check in took for ever, there were signs all of the wall in the lobby behind the front desk. Stating if you are unhappy with your room you have 20 mins to complain. If you have a dog that hasn’t been told to the front desk there would be a $500 fee.

I got this room for my son. He said it was seedy, dirty and looked like a place where you rented the room for hookers. They ended up not staying because they thought it was not safe.

I didnt get to stay got called into work. The room looked great but the smell of the cleaning products was overwhelming. No elevators dragging bags up stairs. Our biggest issue was the shower, barely enough water came through to say it was even a shower, I had to get out and rinse my hair in the sink!!😡 when I brought it to their attention they just said sorry. Tv remote had no batteries in it, but that was an easy fix, they took care of that. The end table had cigarette ashes (or of likeness) in it?!?! Before we got there, still had them after 2 days there, in a non smoking room. Sheets on the bed were clean.

When I walked in to the room that I was originally given, room 228, it smelled like massive amounts of perfume. There was hair on the bed, there was a hole in the bathroom wall, the bottle of shampoo was pushed like it had been used. It was unacceptable to me, so I went to the front desk and complained. The lady on duty showed me another room, also on the second floor, but it also smelled like massive amounts of perfume. Not acceptable. I told the lady that this would not do. She was able to show me another room on the first floor. It was much smaller than the other rooms. However this room did not smell like perfume. The TV in this room, room 202, did not work. I have pictures from that original room, room 228. The stay at this Quality inn and suites was not fun and should have been so much better. It was terrible. I will never stay at a Quality inn and suites again.

Beds had hairs on them, people sitting outside smoking and front desk personnel was nice but cold to our concerns. Bad vibes, bad area and totally uncomfortable environment from the moment we stepped inside. No elevators. Whole experience made us feel so uncomfortable that we left within 15 mins of arriving. The updates to the carpet and the rooms were nice but the cleanliness was horrible. And the bed linens/ pillows were just cheap and nasty. Once I pulled back the cheap / stained bedspread and saw the little hairs and debris on the white sheets- it was over! Rented and paid for two places to stay and only slept in one!! Worth the wasted money to get the hell outta there for my daughter and I!! So bad after a loooong fun day and was stressful. Nope!!!!

Ws stayed in a pet friendly room. One bed was clean, the other had animal hair all throughout. The smell was bad, the floors were peeling up from where animals peed on the floor so many times. The mirror was taped to the wall. They double charged me the incident fee and only refunded me $30 of the $50.

Room was not very clean - tub was gross. All surfaces were visibly dusty. Thousands of fingerprints on the microwave, big stain on one of the bedspreads. There was NO remote for the TV. The desk gave us one to try but it. Didn’t work.
The beds linens and towels were nice and clean, beds comfortable.

There was a beyond-dead poinsettia in the lobby with a sign saying \"Christmas is about family\" during my early October stay.
The room door (interior) was filthy, there was toilet paper stuffed in the security peephole, and the security latch was entirely broken and non-functional. These are all easy fixes, ergo it seems the management does not care and/or is not paying any attention.

The main problem with this hotel was an overwhelming, caustic odor, probably from the incorrect use, or overuse, of cleaning products. It was everywhere, in the lobby, the hallways, and the rooms. At first, I expected that the odor would diminish after the cleaning crew left, but it did not. The odor persisted all day and all night and greeted us every single time we entered the hotel and our room over our four day stay. I am not exaggerating when I say it hurt my lungs and gave me headaches.

The carpets were quite old and filthy, especially on the stairs and in the hallways. The floor of the bathroom was slick and left a sticky residue on my socks and the bottom of my shoes.

I can only assume that they were trying to hide the filth with \"clean\" smells. Either that, or they were misusing the cleaning products. Perhaps they are meant to be diluted and they were using the products at full strength. I suggest that the owners and management stop trying to cover up the filth with excessive cleaning products and just move directly to renovation or tear down.

We have been home for ten days, but despite constant airing out, I can still detect that disgusting odor in our luggage. In the past, we have had good experiences at Quality Inn and Suites, but I think the brand has been permanently damaged in my mind. Since this hotel meets their standards, I don't know if I will ever risk staying in one of their hotels again.

The girl at the check in desk was extremely kind, but honestly the positive review stops there. The worst offense to me was the ton of overbearing pine tree air fresheners, you know, the kind you hand from your rearview mirror? The \"black ice\" scent was WAY overwhelming, especially when we walked in to our room and there were three of them sticking out from the top of our mirror to (I guess) freshen up the room? Also, one of the headboards was all kinds of warped, the bathtub had wierd black stuff in it (dirt? tiny bugs?), the sockets for the lamp were broken, the hallways had a STRONG smell of marijuana, etc. Again, they were super nice there - they obviously cared very much about what they were doing, I would just spend a little more and stay somewhere that had a better rating next time.

This also happened at another Quality Inn in New England. The coffee was misleading because, it was dark but tasted like water. The waffle mix was too thick, and the syrup was not sweet enough. Sausage links were gray and uncooked. I also heard noise in my room. I don't know if it was the a/c heating system or construction. The stairway carpet needs to be updated.

Where do I start? There was black mold in the bathroom on the wall and at the bottom of the tub there was holes in the walls. There was clip toenails on the sofa when I pulled it out for the sofa bed. There was a drip pan underneath the kitchen sink to catch the water that was dripping. There was absolutely no dishes or should I say clean dishes, a.k.a. plasticware in the room the coffee pot was filthy dirty, and had a used coffee pod in it holes in the walls. The people that are living there not staying there for a short time up all night, slamming doors, smoking pot banging on walls floors I have stayed at several motels at least monthly for the past 15 years and never been in such a filthy place or felt uncomfortable going outside I don’t wanna say uncomfortable unsafe The room was so filthy dirty that we chose not to eat breakfast that was provided in our room cost because we didn’t know how dirty the kitchen was so we ate elsewhere.

This property was a major disappointment. It is interesting that different properties under the same chain’s banner could offer such different experiences. I understand that they are likely independently owned, but I’d think the Quality Inn brand would have some minimum standards. We stayed the night before this at a Quality Inn in Northampton, MA, and had a lovely experience, then came to South Portland and were sorely disappointed. I won’t go into all the deficiencies of the room, but the standout experience was being told that the hot water dispenser at the lobby coffee and tea setup was not available other than at breakfast. This was a first for us. The staff member who imparted this news was quite sullen and seemed angry that my wife wanted to make a cup of tea upon our arrival in the evening. The general tone of the facility was one of all the things that we were not to do. Hardly welcoming. While we are not inclined to give up on Quality Inn properties, we will spend more time studying the reviews in the future. Beware!
