We loved everything about our stay here at Matterhorn Focus! The room was impeccable and the amenities were fantastic. We loved waking up to the mountain views from the floor to ceiling windows. It was nice that the windows were one-way so we can see out but no one can see in.

The spa area was amazing and the sauna/steam room after a cold day was just the perfect ending.

This hotel is directly next to the main attraction in Zermatt so it was very convenient for us to just step out and walk there.

We loved everything about our stay and can’t wait for the next time we come to visit!

Cozy, boutique-ish hotel with great breakfast offering. Has a heating pool with bubbles, sauna, steam room, solar/infra, etc. This hotel is separated into three buildings, building C has the best suites and is the only one with rooms that have a complete, unblocked view of the Matterhorn. Building A (main) one has the gondola tower blocking, so book with that in mind.

The hotel location is very close to the Matterhorn gondola station, basically touching it. Hence, this means it's a bit out of the way from the Gornergrat and Zermatt train stations.

This property is wonderful! Staff is wonderful! No air conditioning in summer. Directions from Expedia from train station to the hotel is NOT correct if you plan on walking from train station to hotel. My advice… call the hotel and have them shuttle you from train station to hotel. It’s a free shuttle to and from hotel. Wonderful stay! Absolutely incredible view of the Matterhorn.

Amazing hotel! From being welcomed after 30 hours of travel with a glass of white wine, to the friendly breakfast staff, to helping me cobble together a nourishing dinner after a relaxing spa service…the staff at this hotel truly set it apart! And the rooms! I slept with all the windows and the patio door open just gazing at the Matterhorn until I fell asleep. And the spa! Really a wonderful steam room, sauna, and pool. The only “better if” was if other people would read the rules, especially regarding children in the spa area. Specifically, regarding unattended children I felt responsible to watch to ensure their safety as well as children disturbing the peace of the spa area.

My son and I had an amazing 19 days at the hotel and every day was perfect. The staff took such good care of us. They were all very friendly and helpful and fun. The room was exceptional.
We plan for another 19 day stay next year and for 12 days of that time we are bringing my son's 4 adult daughters, my granddaughters for a wonderful experience to share at the Focus Matterhorn Hotel.

This is a very good hotel.Immaculately clean, new, modern, bright. Very good spa facility. Staff are friendly and ready to help when required. Excellent buffet breakfast.
Reasons this hotel gets a vey good overall instead of excellent is lack of coat hooks in the room, no air circulation, only patio door opens, no other windows open, couldn’t sleep on bed, may have been too hot, may have been the bed, not sure! Slept on the sofa next to open patio door all night. The hotel staff did try to accommodate with different pillows and blankets but in this case the sofa seemed to be the better option.
Expedia advertise this particular room as air conditioned, the hotels own website does not, i can confirm the room is not air conditioned.

The Spa room had perfect view of the Mattherhorn. The bathroom was huge and the mattress was the best! Even the sofabed mattress was extremley comfortable. Enjoyed sitting out at the deck. The staff was very friendly and definitely like to come back.

The Matterhorn suite has a unique view of Matterhorn. It frames the Matterhorn in the cable car ring. We saw the Golden Matterhorn right at the balcony of our room. The hotel is right next to the cable car of Glacier Paradise. Overall a very satisfying experience for me and my family.

The hotel is very close to the cable car station to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. It is a very new hotel with an indoor and outdoor pool. The hotel room condition is very nice and the staff are very sweet to give a surprise on our honeymoon trip. The view from the room is brilliant as it is the closest hotel to the Matterhorn. No other building is in between us with the spectacular mountain. Breakfast was also very nice especially love the croissant.

One thing to note is the hotel is on the other side of the town from the main train station. The hotel can arrange pick-up for arrival and check-out to the station. Others will be walking to the main street (or taxi) but with walkable distance of 10 mins.

The hotel is perfect for hikers willing to walk to the Zermatt city center. The hotel is 15 minutes walking to the center to find the restaurants and shops. The walk is beautiful overseeing mountains, river and beautiful Swiss wood constructions. The hotel's staff is wonderful, smiles, eager to help. It is next to the Lift to the Glaciar. Walking the trails is amazing. Zermatt is great and the hotel is really cool. Decoration, Spa etc.

This hotel is just beautiful! The spa has all the amenities one could ask for, the service and the breakfast was also very good. The only issue we had was that the check in instructions did not state that Zermatt is a car free town and you have to park your car in Tisch. Our navigation had us driving directly into Zermatt and we got a ticket from the local police. The signs are not clear at all and we have driven every where in the world. Knowing this ahead of time would have saved us 2 hours and a world of grief. But the hotel itself is simply fabulous with floor to glass windows which make the views come alive.

Only downside was making the windowless room option more apparent on booking. Not something I usually look for when booking a room so was surprised to find out we had a room with just a sky light. That being said- the staff upgraded our room to a suite that was absolutely stunning for a small fee for one of our nights.

The hotel is very nice. Friendly staff members and wonderful amenities. It is lovely to sit outside and gaze at the Matterhorn in the early morning or evening light. You are steps away from the cable car up to the Schilthorn and the bus stop to town is also right there. The bathroom was beautiful and well-appointed. I have never had such a comfortable/cozy hotel robe. The pool is nice after a long day of hiking. Excellent breakfast.

We had views to everywhere - View to the town was awesome, view to the Matterhorn was phenomenal (only a utility pole was kinda on its way) however we’ve enjoyed the suit 50 very much so with floor to ceiling glass windows and a big a tub! Breakfast was great with variety of food, local Zermatt yogurt had a unique flavor along with local cheeses and more. Spa area was exceptional with indoor and outdoor pool of course with a view to town and mountains. Staff is extremely nice and helpful when you want to make reservations to restaurants or anything you want, they were very warm to the guests. It was very convenient to just put our skis in the locker room and walk outside right to the gondola. I’d definitely consider staying there again!

Location is superb for the cable car to go skiing as it's straight outside but it's a 15 minute walk into the village where all the main cafe's are but it's well worth the walk along the river to get there.

Practically Perfect

A high end hotel with space to spread out in the public areas but also many good size rooms with balconies if you want privacy. You sometimes need to search out staff with questions or to get help but once you do then nothing is too much trouble.

Location is excellent next to the Matterhorn Express and 5-10 minutes walk to the Sunnega Funicular (or you can catch the free shuttle bus if you have a lift pass).

Breakfast is very good and there are complementary sweet and savoury snacks laid on in the early afternoon if you have the munchies but don’t want to go out. They can do bar snacks during the day/evening but if you want a substantial meal then you need to go into town but there are plenty of choices.

We have stayed here 5 times now in both winter and summer so they must be doing something right! It is priced towards the top end of hotels in Zermatt but has a quality and an understated elegance that I like.

Focus is an absolutely gorgeous hotel with a breathtaking view of Matterhorn and Zermatt town, and is conveniently located near the express bubble.

A lovely note from Chris & Patrizia welcomed us to our room, which felt like a designer loft apartment. Eco in style with lots of glass and wood, and the unobstructed view from our balcony of the majestic Matterhorn mountain is something I will never forget.

After a nice hike, we loved relaxing in the outdoor hot tub and treated ourselves to a sauna session, salt-water bath, and aromatherapy steam treatment in the spa and wellness area.

All the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Thank you for sharing this beautiful property and making our stay so wonderful! I look forward to staying at Hotel Matterhorn Focus again, only this time for a much longer period of time!

Beautiful modern, eclectic hotel close to the gondolas. Hotel takes full advantage of the views with floor to ceiling windows. Very comfortable bed and room even had a coffee maker - one of the few we found in Switzerland hotel rooms. Excellent breakfast - one of the best we had in our whole Switzerland trip of 11 hotels. Very friendly, helpful staff and little touches like a welcome drink and free afternoon snacks are greatly appreciated. We would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing atmosphere and scenery

The design and style of the hotel and rooms was very modern and enjoyable. The views from the room was fantastic to wake up and fall asleep to, even if we couldn’t quite see the Matterhorn. The pool facilities were relaxing and comfortable. The breakfast spread was excellent with wide variety and excellent quality pastries. The staff were very friendly and could converse easily in German, French and English. The walk in to the main part of town was less than 10min and allowed you to soak up the atmosphere and scenery. We were only able to stay for 2 nights due to price and holiday schedule but if we get the chance, we would love to return again.

After traveling all over the world, I am prepared to say this is likely my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at while on the road.

From the second you're picked up at the train station in the Focus electric vehicle (yes, no cars allowed) you feel like a VIP. The driver points out some of the highlights of the town, where to eat/drink, and even a little history.

Once you arrive at the hotel, you fly into the side of a mountain (a lot like Batman) and drive up the really awesome cave to the elevator. It's the coolest entry.

Once you get up the elevator, you are welcomed at the desk by a staff that's simply unbelievable. The staff at the desk, the bar, the cleaning staff...they're all top notch. The young lady got us checked in quickly and told us to head to our room. The WHOLE hotel is all glass. The elevator, the stairs, the windows...it's glass everywhere. We got to the 5th floor and there we were in a room, all glass, facing the mountains. Once we were settled, we asked...okay, where is the Matterhorn? She said, why not go out on your balcony and look. There it was, outside our door, right there, and as beautiful as ever. The amenities are amazing, the bar amazing, the breakfast delicious.
The staff helped us with our hike the next day, also with food recomm., and honestly everything we asked.
There is a happy hour each evening with snacks and such in the lobby, we chose to go out on the terrace overlooking the Matterhorn each day. Take advantage.

The team at Hotel Matterhorn Focus takes an extra step to welcome guests and make them feel welcomed. They were very helpful and accommodating. I have been staying at many hotels in North America and Europe. This was one of my favourite to stay at. It's a gorgeous smaller hotel and you feel in every corner that much love and care went into decorating it, so that people feel comfortable and can connect with the place - Zermatt/Matterhorn/Mountain/Climbing/Nature/Wood/History/Faith etc.
We didn't get to see the Matterhorn but we will be back to try to see it in it's glory... and even if that's just an excuse to stay at this hotel again :-))

Modern hotel, great service and breathtaking views

This is a newly refurbished hotel with stylish rooms. The location is second to none for access to the lifts for skiing and the views of the Matterhorn were simply breathtaking. If that wasn't enough, the hotel service was exceptional. We were greeted at the station by concierge staff for our transfer to the hotel (we stayed for seven nights) and were offered a drink on arrival (a lovely Prosecco). After our long day's skiing Zermatt's wonderful ski fields, we enjoyed our afternoons in the wellness centre (including pools, sauna, steam room, etc). The breakfast and afternoon snacks are also great. I would definitely recommend this hotel

This is a beautiful hotel and I would recommend it highly. It's small (about 30 rooms) and the staff gave us a lot of attention and help on local information. The indoor/outdoor pool is amazing and the rooms have stunning mountain views. Buffet breakfast was great with heaps of choice. Each afternoon the hotel puts out free pastries, sandwiches and tea/coffee to enjoy with other guests by a lovely fireplace and library, which was a great touch.

Very Unique Boutique Hotel with Great Team

Zermatt is a unique place among Alpine resorts (no cars) and the Matterhorn Focus is a unique hotel in Zermatt. Partially built underground so as not to break the town height limits, the hotel stands out from the the run-of-the-mill Swiss chalet type hotels found in the resort. We stayed in the Focus Suite which not only had an amazing layout and furniture (all made from the same place in town) but also had breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. The suite was super well equipped. The breakfast was awesome and the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly (not always the case in this part of Switzerland). The only issue we had was with the kid's room getting too hot at night but the staff worked hard on fixing the issue. Having a fridge in the suites would be nice as well.

We had a very warm welcome from reception and were extremely happy with our room. We had magnificent views of matterhorn and it was breathtaking. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Everything was perfect. I have been living in Switzerland for 7 months, and I have not experienced the level of service I received at the Focus ANYWHERE ELSE. Would go back at the drop of a hat. Closest, nicest hotel to the main gondola up the mountain. Incredible spa. Will never stay anywhere else in Zermatt if I can help it.

Lovely modern mountain style and great location

We stayed at this hotel with our 2 8 year old kids. The hotel is very nicely presented with a nice modern mountain style. The room was comfortably big enough for the 4 of us and the TV and wireless etc worked well.
The hotel is right up at the top of the town which means you get great views of the Matterhorn if the weather is reasonably clear. It also means you are about 20m from the lift station to Furi (and onward up the mountains) which is very convenient, especially for skiers. But don't worry, the noise from the lifts is almost imperceptible.
There is no dinner available at the hotel but the breakfast is well done, and there are restaurants close by with pretty much everything in Zermatt within a pleasant 15 minute walk.

Great views and very personal friendly service. Professional and appealing interior design. Warm reception and check out. Electro shuttle from taxi stand was on time. (It carries 6 pax + bags)

Breakfast is decent. Staff were helpful with booking dinner. Right next to a cable lift, but it's a bit of a walk to the rest of town.

Very nice hotel. Great staff; well-located. But, the hotel has. O air conditioning, and it was extremely hot. We had to sleep with the windows open. As there are no screens, we had a lot of bugs in our room. With a/c, this hotel,would have been a 5.

I want to recommand this Hotel in Zermatt!!!

It was nice place but inconvenient to use railway from Toash to Zermatt and electronic Taxi fee is too expensive to Hotel just 5min but should pay 18Euro.

New definition of luxury.

Very comfortable. Right at the origin of the main lift system. Excellent Matterhorn views, but the people were what made our stay memorable. English easily spoken, very helpful, welcoming attitude.

There is no restaurant beyond breakfast, but there are many nearby options. They have snacks and sandwiches if you get the munchies.

Not right in downtown, but this is an advantage because the center of town has gotten very crowded and it is not near the lifts.

Loved this hotel and its staff.

What can I say. Simply loved this hotel and it staff. From the moment we were picked up to the moment we were dropped off at the end of our stay we were made to feel comfortable. On arriving at the hotel we were greeted with welcoming drinks and shown around the hotel and its facilities. The room was beautifully set out with a wonderful view of the Matterhorn to wake up to. The wellness area is well set out and kept. I loved the pool area it was a nice relaxing place to be inside or out, night or day. The hotel is run in a very at home comfortable style and the staff has great knowledge of the local restaurants and attractions. If you plan on going up the cable car for skiing or hiking or just for a look this hotel,is right next to the cable car station. The hotel is wonderful but if you can get a Matterhorn view that is a amazing bonus.

Warm, friendly and stylish

Lovely contemporary hotel with warm, friendly staff. The room was great with a fantastic view of the Matterhorn. It is a shame the hotel doesn't offer any evening meals which would have been really welcome. The room was lovely - it would only be improved by the provision of a kettle to make hot drinks rather than the rather inadequate coffee maker. I thought those facilities were rather inadequate for a 4 * hotel, but otherwise we would definitely recommend and return to stay.

Fabulous Hotel fabulous location

This Hotel has to be seen to be believed, there is a hidden quirk behind every door, !! not for the carpet and curtain brigade, walking distance to town and just roll out of bed on to the mountain, we had a fabulous room with a view of the matterhorn from the floor to ceiling windows to wake up to, breakfast is more than good with both hot and cold food, the Hotel also lays on a delightful afternoon snack for you to enjoy, the only down side if I had to say something is the Hotel doesn't do evening meals , but what better excuse to wonder down to town for a bite
