My stay at Hotel Hemezius was such a beautiful and pleasant experience. My husband and I stayed for his birthday and although only for 2 nights, it was an amazing experience. The view of the Matterhorn from our room was incredible! The staff were friendly and easily reachable. They even worked with me via email to decorate our room as a surprise for my husband just the way I imagined. The hotel restaurant was excellent, we had breakfast and dinner there and it was so delicious. The Airport shuttle was reliable and the Red Line bus was so convenient to get around the city. A beautiful experience indeed.

The hotel is a gem in Zermatt. We had a wonderful room and it’s a little ways from the center of town in a quiet section with a perfect view of the Matterhorn. It’s great for families and the staff is very friendly! We will be back.

Family run hotel on the hillside above Zermatt

A family run hotel with terrific views of the Matterhorn. Electric shuttle picked us up and dropped us off at the train station on arrival/departure. A free local bus allowed access to downtown but service ended at about 7:30PM and the walk back would be pretty uphill and take half an hour. Alternatively taxis are available but we were told they can be quite expensive. We were able to ski out and ski most of the way back. Beginner skiers would struggle to do so. The hotel has a restaurant and there are a couple others you can walk to from the hotel. The room was modern but quite small. It had a coffee/tea service which was nice. The balcony had a Matterhorn view. We booked our stay to include the morning breakfast. I would recommend this as there aren't a lot of nearby alternatives. The breakfast buffet offered a nice selection of options and the staff was very nice. There is a ski storage room to safely leave your gear over night. There is a spa building but we only did a single hot tub which we found to be a bit lukewarm. You can book spa treatments and massages, but we didn't do any so I can't speak to the quality or price. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again in the future.

fantastic 7 night ski trip. A bit far from town, but excellent access to ski out/in if there is snow. Stores in town close at 7 and so does the spa, so plan accordingly. We had a fantastic apré ski every day in the patio. Breakfast was fantastic. And all of the staff are absolutely wonderful. The room is slightly small for seven nights, But the ski locker room lended some help. We cannot wait to return!!

Fantastic stay. Staff and room was fantastic. Just one thing to note that as we warm our food in the room, it triggers the smoke detector. Luckily we were informed and assisted at the right time where we open the windows to allow the chilly air to come in, hence no major issue. And was advised if we should need warm our food, to head to recept area a d the staff will be more than happy to assist us.

This place a jewel, close enough to walk to the train station and center city. The grounds are amazing, spacious and relaxing with a clear view of the Matterhorn. I did not try the spa, but other patrons had great things to say. The best part of the stay was the staff! They are the friendliest in Europe, no exaggeration. Three ladies were key standouts (from Spain, Germany and New York)! The breakfast was good and the cocktails from the bar even better. Just remember that if you plan to have dinner there, they really want you to make a reservation, and the food is good. We booked a room for 3, and the pullout bed turned into a bunk bed. The room was a very comfortable size for a basic room at the hotel. We will go back! This is my first ever review, and this hotel deserves it!!!

Perfect stay. Everything was excellent - our top floor 2 bedroom apartment had a view of Matterhorn, comfortable sitting room with great TV, sauna, jacuzzi and ski storage downstairs in the same building, restaurant with excellent food and very friendly staff! Great for everyone: families, friends, couples. They drive you straight from the station to the hotel and back which is very convenient. There is also a direct ski route from the hotel to the ski lift and back. I would highly recommend!

Winklematten location is wonderful for views of the Matterhorn, if not a bit away from the Bahnhof. Excellent shuttle service, though. Half board is a good deal and meals are excellent. We were there in fall (hiking and mountain biking) and hope to return to ski.

Relaxing, well located stay

The place was really nice with great facilities. Breakfast - excellent, Rooms/Bed - excellent. Spa area, very nice, jacuzzi was a little broken but still worked nicely.

Location was just out of town which was perfect for us, but maybe if people want to be in town is annoying. But not a long walk, 15 min to train station in center.

Definitely recommend the place.

Unforgettable stay and a brilliant time!

My family and I had the most amazing time in the Hotel Hemizeus. From the friendly and welcoming staff who picked us up at the station and brought us to the hotel (and dropped us off on the way back too), to the absolutely pristine room in which we stayed, to the amazing views of the Matterhorn and the general snowy paradise of Zermatt, everything was perfect for our stay. The Hemizeus also has the most beautiful spa and whirlpool which is perfect for relaxing in after a hard day playing in the snow. The hotel is also perfectly located for hikes up to Furi and is also very close both to the ebus stop (Wichje) and to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. We had an unforgettable stay and would definitely like to return some day!

Excellent place to stay in Zermatt. Comfortable room and we had a great view of the Matterhorn. Good breakfast. Able to ski essentially to the gondola in the morning and to the hotel door in the afternoon. The pay off is a 10-15 min walk into town but we found that to be a nice walk (I'd rather do my walking in shoes and not ski boots). Staff were friendly, helpful and very nice.

My stay at the Hotel Hemizeus was very enjoyable. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. The walk to the Matterhorn glacier express lift is approximately 10 minutes which is great. Excellent view of the Matterhorn from outside the hotel. Of note- the hotel does offer a taxi service from the train station- 5 chf per person one way. Otherwise, the ride will be about 27 chf one way.

Comfortable hotel with incredible views

At first, the location seems too far from the services (15 minute walk/10 minute bus ride). This soon became its main advantage. You are away from the annoying touristy area but this gives you a chance to explore the local restaurants. And the view of the Matterhorn cannot be beat. The hotel staff was exceptionally knowledgeable and very willing to help you arrange your activities. They helped up pick 3 exceptional hikes that made our visit.

Over-the-Top Excellence!

A truly outstanding family running a truly outstanding hotel / lodge. The view of the Matterhorn reminded us of where we were, otherwise it felt just like home with all of the bending-over-backwards hospitality. They know what customer service with a smile and no questions asked is all about! The food is most excellent with fixed menu and a la carte options too. No Bait 'n switch here! We would highly recommend staying here. Our 5 day visit was most amazing and the spring skiing excellent. The assistance with transportation and train scheduling was most appreciated and not commonly found by us in other places. Thank You So Much! Ciao.

Another fabulous holiday recharging at Hemizeus !

We are only a few hours home after a week at the wonderful Hemizeus. My husband and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to everyone.

The room fully equipped with a kitchen, table and chairs. The complimentary breakfast is fabulous value.
This is our 2nd stay this year alone. We came in August for a few days and fell in love with all that Zermatt and Hemizeus had to offer.
We returned for almost a week this time , knee deep soft snow. We have enjoyed our holiday so much we have returned today and rebooked for September!
Thank you to Hemizeus (including the fab dogs too! Especially Glen) who made our holiday a great experience and memory laden.
Colin and I look forward to seeing you in the early Autumn.

We enjoyed our stay in Hemizeus hotel very much. Although located on the south edge of the town, it only takes about 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the downtown. The bus stop is 2-3 minutes walking from the hotel. It is a very quiet and beautiful place.

The staff was most often wonderful and helpful. The room was clean and nice. The food was good. However, the hotel was a long way from the village center and the staff seemed inconvenienced to provide a taxi which they advertised as available for a fee.

This was a fantastic hotel! Very clean and kept in great condition. It was about a 15 minute walk to downtown, but a very nice walk, and the view from my room was amazing. So well worth it! I unfortunatly didn't have time to take in any of the spa there so I can't comment on that.

Our stay in a Winter Village

The Hemizeus is a great place to stay. The only reason we did not rate it a 5, is because of the more luxiuious hotels in the village. The Palazzo Family and their staff are very gracious and helpful. The evening dinner food is exellent and the breakfast is one of the best we have ever had. The house wines are from the Palazzo family vineyards from Piedmont region of Italy. I liked the Barberra and my wife loved the Pinot Noir. The ski in and ski out is worth the stay alone. The spa is new and extremely delightful! Ceasar makes the best espresso and coffee late with the steamed milk ...We hated to leave!

The Hemizeus is located at the high end of town, but the views are breathtaking and the quiet charm delightful. We walked into town almost every night,but only made it all the way in on our days off from skiing. There are soo many inviting hotels and restaurants, that we sometimes only walked 10 or 15 minutes, and toured a different hotel each time. We particularly liked the high ground walk in to town the last day we were there. This proved to add another demension to the charm of the village,and the appreciation for the Bavarian architecture and construction of the Swiss Chalets and Hotels!!

The hotel was very comfortable, very friendly staff and fantastic food. The hotel is located 5 minutes from the cable car and about 20 minutes walk from the train station. They have a courtesy car to pick you up from the train station. The spa and sauna are great after a days skiing. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and it was quite difficult to stop eating! The restaurant was also very good quality food, and reasonably priced relative to Zermatt prices. The only complaint I would make is that we were given a twin room and the twin beds had been pushed together, not the most comfortable for couples.

Great hotel, very friendly staff and owners, superb food, and very good ski location (ski-in ski-out) in the southern part of Zermatt, 15 min walk to the city center. Newly built SPA and relax which was also very good with three different saunas, wirlpools and ruheraum. Transportation from and to the train station is included. Definently a place to return to.

Great hotel. I will definitely stay here again. Pleasant walk to skilifts and city center. Awesome view of the matterhorn and rooms were perfectly fine. Front desk was amazingly helpful too. All around a good experience. No serious complaints of any sort.

Very friendly stuff awaits you there and a restaurant with an excellent kitchen. If you stay in this hotel, I can highly recommend this restaurant, even locals come here for dinner. The spa area is brand new, the bath in our room was new and more and more will be renewed. The location is outside the center and allows you a great view to the Matterhorn. Hoteltaxis bring you to the cabel car station if you do not want to walk with all the ski equipment. With ski boots it takes about 10min to the station.

Charming and delightful staff, great food and Swiss hospitality, and a view of the Matterhorn from the restaurant was an unexpected bonus. They will provide free taxi transfers to the railway station on arrival and departure on request. Nearest bus stop is Wichje on the Winkelmatten line (buses run every 15 mins and are free if you have a lift pass). The Matterhorn Express gondola lift is two bus stops down the hill from the hotel (then the bus continues into Zermatt to the railway station).

Superb service from pick up at the train station to meal service morning and evening. We had an absolutely fabulous stay at this family run hotel where the owners wait on you for the evening meal. The accomodations were clean, comfortable and very nice. The spa is OUTSTANDING! It is brand new and extremely relaxing at the end of a ski day.
