Staff is top notch. Loved the ambiance and charm of the Swiss chalet. We upgraded our room to the have an amazing view of the Matterhorn. The amenities were top notch(e.g. Dyson hair dryer, iPad controls for the room). The hotel is designed without A/C to take advantage of the mountain air. The location is convenient to the train station ( 2 minute walk) and the restaurant is great (DJ played music while we had dinner). Not enough space to go on and on

Loved the hotel. Staff was friendly. Room was modern. Has mini fridge, safe, 2 large included sparkling water glass containers, 3 apples, balcony, nice tv. Facilities include breakfast buffet, bar, basement pool and spa, fitness center. Our room supposedly had view of Matterhorn but it was too cloudy to see. Hotel is conveniently located near the train station and Gornergrat and bus station less than 5 min walk. Rolex and McDonald’s right across the street. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. I would come back here again if in Zermatt.

We arrived at the railway station in Zermatt quite late and found it dark, to discover a town wide power cut. Staff were very considerate and fortunately the hotel had its own emergency generator. My wife has limited mobility, and whilst she had to make her own way to the third floor, one of the reception staff carried our luggage up for us. Excellent room with view of the Matterhorn, fabulous breakfast, and close proximity to the railway station.

Stayed for two nights and needed to switch rooms after the first night because we stayed in an attic type room with low ceilings which was not for someone tall like myself. But they were very accommodating and helpful in moving our luggage to the new room when we were out visiting the Matterhorn. When booking the room, you are listed with them at a certain price, I needed to pay an upgrade fee to get a room on the higher floor with a view of the Matterhorn but it was worth it.

Our stay at the hotel was perfect. We had a junior suite, which was ideal for our family of four. The staff was truly outstanding—especially the reception staff, who were incredibly friendly. Above all, the breakfast service staff were exceptional. They were polite, humble, gracious, and generous, with no attitude at all. Very hospitable! I would definitely stay here again. The hotel has been newly renovated and has a lot of character. The rooms are beautifully decorated, which left us quite amazed.

Our kids loved the books, as the hotel is full of them. Even our room had several books. Just a suggestion: all the books were in French. It would be nice to have some books in English, as my children were overjoyed when they saw the books, but were disappointed when they realized all of them were in French. Not a criticism, just a suggestion

This is a spectacular hotel with absolutely the best service. Amazing attention to detail. Even though on the main thoroughfare, stepping thru the doors you feel like you have entered one of the finest lodges or a lovely country estate.

Lovely modern and clean hotel close to the centre of Zermatt. The view from my balcony was amazing. Staff were genuine and made you feel welcome. Spa facilities were wonderful.

Unfortunately as there is no aircon, the room warmed up quickly and was stuffy at night. Having the window open solved the stuffiness, but the main street below is very noisy, so not particularly conducive to a good night's sleep. 😢

The staff were friendly. The room felt very hot. The one thing that spoiled everything was Around 11 PM somebody just opened the door and walked into the room.i called the front desk to let them know, after that we hardly had any sleep. In the morning i was told that it was a staff member who was trying to drop off the pillow for a guest and happened to walk into the wrong room.even it that was the case, shouldnt they be knocking on the door and not walk into a guest room.for me that story didn’t add up.

I recently stayed at the hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. I was traveling in Switzerland for a few weeks and found this hotel to have the most comfortable bed. The staff was friendly. It was warm outside and there is no AC. Ask for a fan, which worked out perfectly. The breakfast buffet was good. Location is outstanding - 5 min walk to train station. The only negative is the outside music played. It was warm so you have to keep your window open. The music plays from 12-6 daily. I did not find this to be relaxing at all. Maybe ask for a street facing view if you want to avoid the music.

The Schweiterhof lobby is a short walk from the train station. The hotel is convenient to the shops and restaurants , and even the Coop store. The train to the ski lifts is a short walk or taxi ride. The reception staff are warm and helpful, making their guests feel at home. The spa is excellent and an enjoyable break. There are excellent restaurants on site, including fondue at the Cheese Factory. Rooms are first class with comfortable bedding and amenities. It’s a great location to stay in Zermatt!

Overall a wonderful experience

Overall, the Schweizerhof is a wonderful hotel and experience. The staff is excellent, my top floor room was very well appointed, and the breakfast is truly superior. Areas that can be improved include the dinner menu and wifi. The dinner menu is not bad by any means, but I would have liked to see some higher end culinary selections to match their excellent wine selection (e.g. Masseto and Chateau Margaux). The open wifi scheme (i.e. no login) that too many hotels are now adopting was particularly frustrating on both phones which would disconnect without reason and sometimes no \"sign-in\" indicator leading to even more frustration. On a final note, my room was close to the elevator shaft that is somewhat noisy, so I recommend asking for a room away from that end of the hotel. To be clear after some negative comments, this is an Excellent hotel I would recommend to anyone.

It was \"payable on check out\" booking and our credit card about to charge the amount upon checkout. But hotel denied check in to customer saying you need to pay first, even not checked payment terms and mode of payment in their reservation system.

Guest disappointed and called me and shouted as he has paid well in advance to us. I called twice to Expedia and request to charge amount right now and not wait for check in or checkout date. Also sent mail 2 times to hotel but they didn't charge amount in advance and mishappening done with the very important guest.

A lot of money for a shoebox sized room.

I stayed at the Schweizerhof Zermatt one night. The room was hot, noisy, extremely small, and the floor was dirty. The sheets were rough. I had to leave the window open because it was so hot and stuffy, which unfortunately meant I heard street noise - drunk kids yelling most of the night. I was told that I could control the temperature in my room, which was not true. The bathroom was so small, the door would not open all the way. There was nowhere to put my toiletries. I paid a lot of money for a room that felt like a shoebox. On the other hand, the food in the restaurant was excellent. And the hotel was convenient to the train station.

Newly reopened this is a real gem of a hotel. Centrally positioned, small, warm and very welcoming. The open plan reception, lounge and bar is very cozy and the rooms perfect. Hotel has all you need, ski room, spa, pool and so very friendly and helpful staff. We have visited Zermatt many times, this was the best hotel experience and are go to place next visit. Excellent.

The location was perfect - right in the middle of town, walking distance from train station, the ski slopes/ tram and restaurants/shops/bars. We rented ski equipment from the hotel ski shop - very convenient to drop off and store equipment until the next day. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Very nice hotel near to the Train Station

The hotel is located near the train station and very convenient to walk from and around Zermatt. Even though we stayed here for a night, but this hotel and Zermatt made my Switzerland a memorable one.
When we arrived at the hotel at noon time, the staff were already expecting us and able to call out our reservation; the room was even ready before the stated checked-in time - this made our trip perfect as we are able to leave our bags in the room, and took the train to Gormergrat in time to view the Matterhorn in good weather.
The hotel also provide coffee and tea and desserts at 4.30pm, free of charge for all hotel guests; this is probably our first time we had such a luxury in a hotel. The coffee and desserts were just right as we came back from Gormergrat.
The only pity is that we could only stay one night here in Zermatt. If I were to come back to Zermatt, this will definitely be the place to stay.

In fairness to the hotel, all I was looking for was a relatively (for Switzerland) inexpensive hotel for a three-day ski trip. That's exactly what I got.

The staff were friendly but not very visible; the breakfast buffet was average; the room and hotel decor is dated.

On the upside, it's very close to the train station and to the Sunegga gondola.

If you want location above all, it's a good choice. Otherwise...just know this place is pretty blah.

We were upgraded to junior suite which was large room with 2 bathrooms. Bathroom had separate shower and deep tub. It had a large balcony with view of Matterhorn. Breakfast was included and was a satisfying buffet. Price at checkout was exactly what was quoted when I booked it 1 year in advance. Swimming pool was heated.

We Would Stay Here Again

We were travelling on the Glacier Express and wanted a hotel close to the station. The Schweizerhof could not be closer. A 2 minute walk across the road. Despite the proximity to the station, there was very little noise and we spent a quiet and comfortable night. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the combi bathtub/shower was just right for a relaxing soak before bed and an invigorating shower to wake you up in the morning. The beds were comfortable but my mattress sloped a tiny bit to the outside however, this did not stop me getting a good night's sleep. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful. A buffet with all you could wish for and also a menu for freshly cooked hot food. Service was quick and friendly. We wished we could stay longer and will certainly use this hotel again.
