Friendly staff and great location, with good views from the rooms. Although rooms were quite dated, with the room having some defects (eg stuck wardrobe doors and balcony doors that can be unlocked just by attempting to open). But otherwise, a very good and value-for-money hotel in a lovely small town.

dinner restaurant was very disappointing. Foie gras was frozen and fresh from a tin. Scallop dish was also a defrosted version and served barely warm, One of the worst meals I have ever had in France. Service was great and the open air terrace very charming but food was expensive and barely edible.

Great view, very friendly and efficient staff, good food, nice deep pool, and short walk to town. Pool does get busy and chairs can be tough to claim unless you go early in the AM. Noisy guests can be heard easily in the hallway and through the walls, but overall a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Good value. Would happily return.

We loved everything about this beautiful hotel in Villefranche sur Mer! The room was quiet, large and beautiful with a terrace overlooking the harbor. The pool is just delightful. You can eat your lunch poolside at a table under the olive trees. Easily walk down to the gorgeous beach in about 15 minutes. Cannot wait to go back one day!

We had a wonderful stay here! We stayed in a two bedroom unit overlooking the pool and the bay and the views were amazing! There is a bus stop right outside, and ubers were fast to pick up from location. Walk to town area / beach was only about 10-15 mins down hill there and 15-20 mins up hill coming back. There was a convenience store about 2 blocks away.

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful 3-night stay. The view was amazing! The front desk staff and the restaurant staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable beds, great swimming pool. A little bit of a walk down to the beach and the restaurants on the water, but there are shops and smaller restaurants pretty close. Definitely recommend it, and will stay there again if I ever make it back.

This is the second time for me to stay in this hotel, the last stay twenty years ago before the remodel. I liked the hotel then and like it even more now. What a beautiful place, with a lovely bar and restaurant, and a large pool where I could really get a swim. I will definitely stay here again.

The hotel has a beautiful view and the pool was lovely. The room was okay - the bed was comfortable but there were not many amenities in the room (no fridge, cups etc.) although I have read that those could be requested.
Given the heightened awareness of cleanliness during COVID, we did feel the room was not up to standard (when we arrived we found multiple handprints from makeup throughout the bathroom and on the provided toiletries which made us question if it was properly cleaned). As some other reviews mention, you can hear a lot from the other rooms but this was not frequent. We enjoyed our stay and likely the location but would recommend some additional attention to cleaning and room amenities.

The most wonderful hotel and best kept secret of the south of France! The views from the terrace and entrance lobby are simply stunning and the pool looked out over the bay towards Cap Ferrat.
The staff were so kind and helpful and generous with their time, whenever we asked a question. The service was wonderful and I loved it so much that I cried when we left!

Good location but the hotel is looking a bit tired and in need of a refurb. The A/C broke for a couple of days and it was sweltering. Service was ok but not outstanding. The hotel invited lots of non residents in to use the pool meaning it became very crowded with too many people for the sun beds available and the staff became stressed. Restaurant good.

As a frequent visitor to the surrounding area I have, many times, passed this hotel while travelling either towards Monaco or in the opposite direction Nice. As it was my birthday, my husband and I decided to celebrate with a few days in the South of France and decided on this hotel. I was not disappointed. The reception area was immaculate and the staff very helpful and welcoming but turn 90 degrees and you have the most amazing view over the bay of Villefranche over to St Jean Cap Ferrat. We were on the floor 3 (3 floors below entrance). The room was very clean, could do with some updating regarding wardrobes and a kettle would have been a nice addition but to open the curtains to be met with a spectacular view was fantastic. We had breakfast in the hotel which had a good selection of juices, pasties, buns and bread plus amazing homemade banana bread and lemon cake. There were also the usual cold meats / cheese and scrambled eggs. The staff were welcoming. We sat on the terrace overlooking the bay with the pool area alongside was lovely. Villefranche is such a lovely place you get buses to Menton via Monaco / St jean cap ferrat and Nice. We didn't eat in the hotel at night but instead walked the small distance down to the port with a great selection of restaurants for every taste. We ended each night with a glass of delicious Rose wine on the roof terrace lounge looking out to the bay. Spectacular. I will definitely return to this hotel.

We had a really lovely stay. The hotel is very comfortable with fabulous views! We had a double room on the 1st floor and it was perfect. Decent size and a really comfortable bed. Bathroom very nice too.
The pool area isn’t huge but it’s got lots of sun and some shade. Just recommend getting there early to get a sun lounger.
We had breakfast one morning there - it’s lovely by the pool and the homemade marmalade was to die for. But a bit expensive at €18 each.
We had cocktails on their rooftop lounge which were delicious but opted to eat in restaurants in town, as again, prices were really expensive. The town is a short 8 min walk away or so down the hill, with wonderful restaurants and shopping, and the beach and train station too. Overall a great stay and would stay there again!

Bathtub would not drain while taking bath/shower (plugged up). Notified front desk. He couldn’t believe what I was telling him. Said a maintenance man would check tomorrow. No maintenance man arrived. Door to room would not close without slamming shut. They made a queen bed by pushing to singles together. Pool boy/waiter spoke every good English but was rude to wife when she order food at pool.

Incredible view of the bay of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat. We enjoyed dessert from a local patisserie with wine each evening in the balcony overlooking the bay. If you don’t have a car it is a strong walk from the marina area restaraunts and beach. If you do have a car there is very limited parking. The walk was good for us as we like to eat a lot.
Pool is nice with olive trees and nice shaded seating area. The view from the restaraunt is stellar, however the menu is okay, we ate in the old town. The staff all around is wonderful!

AMAZING views of Bay of Villefranche from most parts of excellent hotel. The reception staff, restaurant/breakfast buffet/bar and pool staff were very helpful, nice, and eager to try to communicate in English (its helpful to know a little French). Dinner with view of Bay of Villefranche on the outside roof terrace and looking at the views from the pool were breathtaking and memorable. Highly recommend!

This hotel is a really nice hotel. Lovely pool with really comfortable loungers, with a beautiful bay view. The pool food is nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast I think is a bit steep at Euro18; fruit, croissants, eggs, cereal, teas etc

The terrace is lovely with large sofas and again a great view

Rooms are fine, just not plush and personally I like carpets not tiled floors but it makes sense in hot weather. Curtains aren't black out so sleeping past sunrise is difficult plus the maids are noisy. Nicely decorated and very clean with large shampoo/shower gels

The old town is 12-15 min walk downhill so obviously coming back up can be difficult for anyone with disabilities or not with great fitness level.

Really nice hotel and trumps all others with the great pool, main disadvantage is distance from old town. But would definitely stay again.

Hotel with a view!

The main selling point of this hotel is the view and having the use of a swimming pool. The location is also great, easy to drive or take public transport to Nice and Monaco. Plenty of free car parking available. The hotel staff were very friendly. As other reviews have said, the hotel could do with some refurbishment to its exterior and interior but the rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Yes, the walls/ceilings/floor are thin but I had ear plugs so it didn't bother me too much. The breakfast is pricey for what was on offer but you can go to the old harbor town for other options.

Service at the hotel was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. I would definitely return. We visited in September and the room was a good value for the price. I liked the location since it was a 10 minute walk to restaurants.

Wonderful getaway to Villefranche-sur-Mer

Spent four lovely nights at Les Versailles in Villefranche. The purpose of our stay was to decompress and get over jet-lag before the next three weeks of our trip. Hotel was perfect. Comfortable rooms, great staff and service. Excellent pool area to relax every day which we did! Location was extremely convenient to Village, markets etc. Food was excellent, great breakfast and service. Kudoos to Laeticia! Highly recommend.

Great place for our family of four. We stayed in a quad with great air conditioning, amazing shower and fabulous views! Pool was perfect for our needs. The bus stop into towns are located right in front of the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant on site was fantastic! Another option is a short, yet STEEP, walk into the town below for dinner and dessert! The cappuccino served at the bar at Le Versaille was FANTASTIC! Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Worth every euro we paid!

Great location near old town

The hotel has everything from a great resturant, bar, pool and view of the Mediterranean Sea. The room we had did not come with a shower curtain or screen for the bath tub. It made no sense to have water go everywhere. The staff seemed like they preferred to think you were not there and always seemed put out if you had a question. There is a bus in front of the hotel which is very handy and goes to Nice or Monaco. The staff would not offer any information about the bus as if it wasn't there. Sorry to say...so French.

First visit to the south of France and in late Sep

We selected the hotel for the parking that is available. Loved villefranche and hotel is an easy walk to the main eating area by the waters edge and old town as well as the station and buses. Nice room with a good view from the balcony. Comfortable bed. The shower is a handheld version in the bath, which is not uncommon, but would prefer a shower you can stand up under. The rooms are not particularly well soundproofed. We had a baby on side and loud americans the other. The biggest disappointment was the catering. No problem with the restaurant being closed for the season as lots of lovely places to eat in town. The breakfast was poor and over prced. A great shame as the eating area near the little pool was lovely. Easier to get foof from the little supermarkt nearby and eat on the balcony, lovely. Just remember the british travellers must of kettle, cups and camping cutlery! Finally wifi very poor.

View is the winner.

The hotel is a short drive from central Nice but the view is worth what you pay for the taxi ride. Get the bus during the day but they stop running around 8.30 and taxi is expensive. The restuarant is only open during peak season so be prepared to travel for meals other than breakfast.

Don't do it!

I'm not sure the good reviews of this hotel were not for another place in Villefranche. The first room offered moved me to complain as it was small, dirty, worn and the bed was next to useless. The second room was slightly bigger and better as it had a shower without builders rubble and paint over it.

But once I had accepted it I soon discovered that, just like the rest of this place, the looks are very certainly only skin deep. Poorly put together in every respect, sink unit wobbly, bed surround hand made and looked it - very dirty behind this with items I didn't want to pick up and investigate, dirty under the bed, and the room smelling of a pretty large dog.

To cap it all I was told on arrival 'No you can't make a dinner reservation as the restaurant is closed for the season!'. No drinks in the room, lighting awful, one of those bathrooms where, if you are a couple, you really would rather go to the public toilets down the road as they are open plan. If you like your bathrooms with a modicum of privacy and other niceties go to another hotel or stay at home.

Not for light sleepers...

Not a hotel I will book again. My neighbors were loud at midnight and again at 07:00. When they finally left their room, the other neighbor turned his TV on. Very thin walls, apparently. And modernism is all fine, but I do prefer a door to the bathroom... Now I was alone, but if my girlfriend was with me, it would feel a bit strange with no door. The service was nothing to write home about and the restaurant was closed. Far from the train station, nothing around actually. The view is great, though, so if you are a keen yacht spotter, bring your binoculars.

Beautiful View and Excellent location,

Absolutely fantastic hotel with excellent views. Very expensive for breakfast and evening meals so went out for local croissants and into Ville Franche to eat which was much more cost effective.
The room (seaview) was well worth the money and the location absolutely fantastic.
Generally the staff were dismissive, but a couple of the younger girls on reception were lovely and incredibly helpful.
If you can get over that, then I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Looking forward to going back.

The room was very comfortable and the view from the balcony stunning! The service from the reception staff (particularly from the lady, who was attending to us when we checked in) was brilliant! The bar staff were helpful at a push. The restaurant staff recommended a great wine, but the food was and service were mediocre. Would recommend this hotel for its location and view, but wouldn't wine and dine in the hotel itself.

Disappointing Hotel

I travel extensively around the world and see many hotel but this one was pretty disappointing. Rooms very small (I changed 3 rooms), bathroom doesn't even have shower curtains so when you take a shower water goes all over, bed take most of the space in the room, under the bed dust, staff fairly useless and when asked for a recommendation locally for restaurant the answer was... \"mhhh, I dont really go out so we dont know\"

The only positive is a beautiful view of the harbor. Price wise, very expensive for the quality and overall comfort (I spend $300-$1000 a night without any problem) but when you spend $270/night for this poor quality is not right.
We spent 4 days in Monaco at the Monaco Bay Resort which is a similar 4 star but it doesn't compare even the slightest. Don't be fooled by the photos.

villefranche der mer near Nice

The room and bathroom were clean, the bed was comfy. It was nice to have a balcony for the views and to get some cool air as the aircon did not cool the room, our visit was 24th Apr - 01May 2014 and would think the room temp would be unbearable in the summer. Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful but with no fridge in the room and the fact it was so warm we got some odd and unhelpful comments when asking for ice to cool water in the room, I will add that we did try shops to buy some but found none.

The pool was nice, warm and a good clean area and the gent at the pool was very prompt with towels and helpful positioning sun beds.

There is a small car park and payed parking over the road.

It was very quiet and peaceful at the hotel and only a short walk to the port area for shops and restaraunts.

It was worth renting a car for the week so we could visit areas up and down the coast but you could enjoy a quiet time here and not miss travelling around

Terrific hotel with a great location for exploring the riviera if you have a car. The only drawback was no shower in the bathroom. Had a tub with a hand sprayer but it worked OK. The view from the balcony was wonderful. It was only a 15 minute walk to the town and many excellent restaurants. It is also possible to walk to Cap Ferrat from a trail on the beach. We would recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel but little things let it down

Hotel itself is very nice & the views are breathtaking.
Points that could be improved:-
Fridge and tea/coffee making facilties in room
Surly grandma on reception is unfriendly & unhelpful
No showering/changing facilities provided for late checkout, not even an attempt to help provide these

Hard to Beat the View

The best part about this hotel is the location and the view. It has a great view over looking the harbor in Villefranche. Every room has a sea view, but the best rooms are on \"floor 1\", which is actually the top floor because this hotel is built into the side of a hill. After that, I would probably rate the hotel as average. The staff would not take the initiative to help. My suggestion for local advice (transportation, restaurants, etc.) would be to walk the 5-10 minutes to the tourism office. They offer \"free\" wifi, but only in the lobby/bar area... not in the rooms. Find a way to the hotel other than a cab, it was 60 euros for us. There are buses (98 line to the 100 line) that will get you there. Now that I know the area a bit, I would stay here again, but would not suggest to a newbie.

Great views from this nice 3* hotel

The hotel has wonderful views over the bay at Villefranche, catching the morning sun on the room terraces and with a roof terrace for all-round sun and views. You can walk down towards the old town and within 5 minutes be in striking distance of alternative restaurants since the hotel restaurant is not open all week and is fairly pricey. Located on the edge of town, the hotel is nevertheless very conveniently placed for buses in both directions though it's more of a walk to the station. It is possible to do a bus transfer to and from Nice Airport using the 81/100 and 98 buses, which for around 15 Euros beats the rip-off taxi fares (on the meter it's 20 Euros from Nice station but the taxi drivers bump this up to 35-40 using \"tourist/airport\" rates, and more from the airport). Busfares have just gone up but are still good value. Buses can be used to explore the nearby resorts. As far as the hotel, bearing in mind it's 3*, the rooms are fine (we were on 3rd floor, going down the cliff from 0 at the top). Be careful at breakfast that you are sure you know what counts as continental and what counts as buffet if you are on a budget, since the buffet costs more. Smiling at the owner does oil the wheels conversationally. We had no complaints and enjoyed our stay.

Great location - poor service

Hotel doesn't look too impressive from the road on first arrival but the interior is much better. Rooms good with balconies and great views, although some features have seen better days. Plastic sheet protecting mattress was a strange touch though - more suitable for a hospital than a hotel.

The terrace is lovely if the weather is good. It's a great view. Hotel was very quiet when we stayed for 1 night, only a few guests. Service seems to be based on \"don't give me extra work to do\" rather than customer focused. A pre-dinner request for 2 Bloody Marys at the seemingly well-stocked and well-presented cocktail bar led to a bizzare exchange that the bar was shut, then open at 18.00 (it was 18.30), then that we could only have one of the whiskies. There was no wine (in a French hotel!). Finally settled on a bottled beer and a coke.

Town centre is a short walk away with many fine restaurants on the harbour front. Wine available on request.

Just an ok hotel. You can see they have renovated but the hotel is still quite basic. The balcony and view are very nice, but you generally don't spend a lot of time in the hotel when you are visiting this part of the world. The hotel served its purpose but I would not stay there again. Head straight to Nice- much more to see, do & eat.

Fantastic views and food

We stayed for 2 nights and loved the hotel. Each room faces out over the bay and provides views of the town and the yachts moored in the bay. Morning coffee and croissants on the balcony was a treat The second morning we sat an watched the tenders for 2 cruise ships ferrying passengers into town and on to buses. The Location is great for touring a short interesting drive to Eze and Monaco and next to Nice. Dinner at the hotel was fabulous out on the terrace with the lights on the bay reminiscent of Van Gogh's Starry Night... overall a wonderful experience and good value.

Fantastic location, I would say best in town. Clean room, everything you could need. Don't worry about any reviews of bathroom's its only cosmetic. Food in restaurant 1st class with view to match. Will be going back.

Great views, great rooms, pool could be better

I would recommend this hotel and would stay again. The views are outstanding from the balcony. The room is clean, stylish and spacious. The hotel is also very well situated for walking into Villefranche (although the walk back up the hill is strenuous!) and the bus into Nice stops right outside the hotel, and is only a ten minute journey away. The only downsides to the hotel were the pool - a bit tierd and scummy looking, which is a disappointment when the photos on the website portray it so perfectly. We didn't use it once, but luckily Villefranche beach was very pleasant for swimming and sunbathing, so we didn't miss the pool. The over bath shower is awkward to use without drenching the floor and sink because you have to stand up and hold it - bit tricky in a narrow space when you're trying to wash your hair! A fridge and a kettle in the room woud also be a bonus so that you can enjoy a drink / morning coffee on the balcony without having to pay room service prices.

Good hotel overall. Dissapointed to be told that the restaurant / room service doesn't operate on Mon/Tues, the only nights of our stay. Also the 24hr bar is controlled by the night receptionist who is very reluctant to serve as he has to leave his reception chair. Otherwise a very good hotel / room.

Great Stylish little hotel

The hotel is in a great location, has friendly helpful staff, a wonderful view. good restaurant and fact an ideal place to stay for a few days in Villefranche. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for good value and a stylish place to stay.

Its a short walk into the old town - down hill, coming back is a little more difficult as its up hill but one can work off dinner.

Nice 3 star hotel

we were in Ville Franche for a wedding and found the location of this hotel ideal. The rooms are small, but the bed is very comfortable and the AC was a little loud, but powerful. The staff is typically French; some nice and others rather surly.

Excellent hotel in beautiful village

Great hotel with amazing sea views and balcony. The rooms are very nice and well maintained by the cleaning staff. The pool is very nice and a great place to relax if you do not wish to walk down to the beach.

The staff at the hotel were very helpful, arranging for us to rent a car, recommending places to eat and to spend the day. We were very disappointed to leave this hotel!!

We love this hotel

The location was great, views from room and restaurant were so beautiful. Hotel staff was fantastic. Food and atmosphere at restaurant was great. We will recommend this hotel to all of our friends and will stay there again if our travels take us to Villefranche again. Also the beds are very comfortable and there is a bus stop right across the street to take you to Nice.

Good hotel with a pool

We had two great nights at the hotel. We did not try the breakfast buffet, but went into the town and found a nice cafe. The location is very convineant as it only takes 10 minutes to walk down to the old town/harbour.

The view from our room and balconny was fantastic and even if the rooms are not large they are very nice. Almost everything is white.

During the evening we watched the world cup in the rooftoop bar. Great atmosphere and good staff.

I was a little bit concered about the other reviews that there was no bath room door, but we had one.
