Really unsual old hotel. We arrived quite late and they were very accommodating. They helped us with our currency and brought us a requested bottle of wine. The rooms were huge with beautiful, modern bathrooms. The location is superb. We had only a little time and in the morning we were able to walk the whole Old Town. It's an amazing place. They also arranged transport for us.

The hotel is a beautiful old inn updated to modern standards. It is near the museums we were visiting and a short taxi ride to Anitkabir. There are many dining choices. Although, many restaurants close early in that area.

While the breakfast was Turkish centric, it was delicious and plentiful.

Truly wonderful Location right next to the Museum of Anatolian civilisation and in front of Ankara castle. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the rooms have everything. Reception staff are very friendly but the breakfast service was not so good. Compared to other wonderful breakfasts we have had during our trip to Turkey, this was disappointing. a cappuccino was charged extra. For the rest, it was wonderful.

Air conditioning in one of our two rooms was not working. The problem was not addressed for two days. This was a problem because the temperatures were close to 40 Celsius during the day. At any other property, we would have been comped in some way. We were not. Disappointing and a let down for a world class property.

Had an unexpected day in Ankara due to a flight cancellation, and chose this hotel as located in old city near castle. Beautiful building, well located, very nice rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast was wonderful, with an amazing view over the city from the terrace. This has ended up being an enjoyable diversion rather than a hassle, in large part due to the quality of this boutique hotel. Would definitely stay again if in Ankara.

One of the best hotels I have stayed at in Turkiye. My room was spacious, clean, and full of amenities. The meals in the hotel restaurant were delicious and professionally made. Finally, the hotel is located directly across from Ankara Castle and near several cafes, museums, and shops. There is also a taxi station across the street. If you plan to visit Ankara, this is where you want to stay. I will stay at Divan Cukurhan again.

This is a beautiful hotel located in a renovated caravanserai, in the oldest part of Ankara, next to the Citadel, and very near the Museum of Anatolian Civilization. The building is very well maintained, and really gives a sense of the past. My room was lovely. It looked out on the street, which can be a little busy during the day and has occasional barking dogs at night. (I asked for another more secluded room looking away from the street but was told these were only suites). But the street is quiet past 8pm and the dogs are not loud :) I am a light sleeper but the street did not bother me at night. I don't believe I received a special VIP treatment (Expedia's claim) but I was treated very well and I really recommend this hotel.

This is a beautiful hotel and perhaps and nicest in Ankara. The caravanserai concept has been very well executed and of course the site in authentic. The public areas are very pleasing and the bar and restaurant. Rooms and ensuite and lobby are comfortable and well equipped with wifi fast enough for v/c. Position is superb and staff attentive without subservience. Service is outstanding. A benchmark against which the others can be measured but at the same price as other blander offerings. Highly recommended

The bathroom was very elaborate, with a big tub, shower, and two sinks. The restaurant which served breakfast was delicious and had a spectacular view. Beautiful rooms with unique decor, a kitchen with an outstanding chef. What makes this hotel shine, though, is the kindness of its staff.
I had a fever and needed to seek treatment at a hospital (a daunting prospect for a non-Turkish speaker traveling alone). The front-desk supervisor took me there and stayed with me through the whole process. As I was recovering, the housekeeping and room service staff brightened my days with their smiles and nurtured my baby Turkish conversations. May all their days be long and prosperous.

I don’t know what VIP access is but in any event this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I work in tourism. Outstanding. Outstanding rooms. This hotel is a real museum and serious museum pieces are in each room. What a treasure. This hotel has an antique library! And a real museum attached to the hotel. Food in the restaurant with a view overlooking Ataturk’s tomb is outstanding. The staff are outstanding. The men who were managing the front desk were unbelievably helpful, professional and sophisticated. They go beyond the call of duty, certainly. On top of everything else, this hotel is a restored 490 year old caravansaray - the history is mind blowing. The building is in the area of the ancient castle and the entire area is like walking back in time 500 plus years ago. Did I say this place is outstanding? It is.

Great location, walking distance to the museum and castle. Decoration meets the standard of “Boutique”. The view of the restaurant is fantastic. But if you want to have a swim or a Hammam, you have to go to another hotel by 15 mins driving/taxi. In addition, the air condition doesn’t work in one room of our group. Overall, it’s a unique hotel with special design. Recommended!

The room was warm and spotlessly clean. We had a great view of the castle. We enjoyed the ambiance of the old structure of the caravan saray turned into a beautiful hotel. We spent some time in the cozy library, enjoyed the view of the city from the terrace, and toured the Koç museum (entrance from the hotel). Breakfast was nice (but did not stand out as amazing). I recommend this lovely place.

A Hotel That Looks Like A Museum

During a given year, I tend to spend approximately a third of that time speding nights in a hotel. Despite this, the Divan Cukurhan still ranks as one of the the most attractive hotels that I have ever stayed at.

The hotel is decorated like a museum (to which it is actually related). The location directly opposite to the Citadel is absolutely perfect for touring Historic Ankara. It is alos located between two museums.

Breakfast was served mezze-style with lots of little dishes. The restaurant is actually located in an attached modern building with a great view over the city of Ankara.

I only had two mild complaints about my stay. As many of the reviews have mentioned, the room was kept too warm for my preference. Also, the wifi kept going in and out. (I subsequently found out that this was a recuring experience in that part of Turkey).

Over all, it was a great stay. I would DEFINITELY stay there again. In fact, I attempted to extend my stay another few nights, but, unfortunately, the hotel was sold out for those nights. Bummer!

This hotel was not only beautiful to look at, the room experience was just as amazing. I was there for a one day stay, so not nearly as long as I'd want to. However, I was impressed by the beautiful bathroom (complete with plush towels, and a nice big tub for a afternoon bath), comfortable bed, closet space, as well as the paintings and ambiance of it all. I was also very surprised by how helpful the staff was. The only negative was that the room's air conditioning was not that strong. After waiting an hour or two, my boyfriend and I were not feeling a significant difference. Thankfully Ankara cools down in the nighttime and we slept comfortably with the windows slightly open. Maybe that was just our room. Otherwise I would really recommend this hotel :)

Wonderfully restored Ottoman Caravanaserai just outside the entrance to the historic Ankara Kale (citadel area) and close to 3 museums including the marvellous Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.
The place ouzes quality from the communal covered courtyard (though stuffed heads of animals may not be everyone' thing) to the quality of the en-suite bedrooms. Great restaurant adjacent in modern extension.
One tip - if taking a taxi ask for the kale - the taxi driver might know where that is!!!

Staff spoke perfect English, room was exquisite, bathroom had two shower heads and a lovely tub, the atrium was a dream with a running stream. There was history in every crevice.

Every little detail was accounted for- the down pillows, hammam body scrubber, Q-tips, espresso machine, Turkish Delights, tea and kettle.

One of my all-time favourites!

This hotel is an absolute beauty. It’s in a great area, outside the hustle and noise of the city, but really close to everything. A little wander around the area is well worth it, great food, cafes, shopping and the castle.

The hotel itself is seriously incredible. From the outside it looks like nothing, but the inside is breathtaking. Beautiful and a genuine slice of history. The rooms are really well done and the common areas are some of the best i’ve Ever seen. I stay in a LOT of hotels. This is one of my top three in the world. Do it.
