The hotel foyer and pub area are very lovely, great cosy atmosphere in the public bar, however the rooms are very outdated. Furniture in room very old and some piece was separating at the joints. The bed was old and very hard, pillows were also flat as pancakes and very uncomfortable, I had to put the bathroom towels underneath to give them some height. I could hear everything in the bathroom when they were filling up the bath, the water pressure running through the pipes in the room and the man in the bath right down to his washing and other bodily functions were like i was in the same room.
The staff in the pub area was very nice and helpful as it was raining beyond belief.

The gym as it was advertised contained only one running machine, a rower, some weights and a broken bike. However the room it was in was lovely! So under used. The rooms were nice and the beds comfy but the walls are paper thin and the workmen who visit it use language which would make a
sailor blush so please be aware of taking children. Otherwise nice enough, pleasant and helpful
staff and the beds were firm. Also the windows opened properly. I have not seen that in a while. Breakfast was great!

Room was not great - mine was the \"Westgate Suite\" and was old fashioned with a TV that didn't work properly (I wasn't bothered as I didn't need it but others will be) and a shower system that looked \"fancy\" with various jets pointing at the body as well as the overhead but, in reality, was totally ineffective. Dinner in the bar area was bland, soggy and not very nice - I did feed back at the time and was met with a blank stare and an apology of sorts.

Room was cold.heating was not on..tried to call but they didn't answer..and also when we reach there he asked for security and we paid 100 pound and the next morning when we checkout the lady said we can't give you 100 pound straight away..we need to call bank about it.and it takes 4 to 5 working days..so i mention that yesterday no one informed us about that..and she also not responding property so overall its a bad experience.

I recently stayed at this place and overall the experience was decent, but there were noticeable issues with the heaters. The room never really warmed up, even after adjusting the controls multiple times. It made the room uncomfortable, especially at night.

This place has potential, but they definitely need to address the heating system before I’d consider returning.

You couldn’t ask for more helpful people made my book using Expedia only I made the booking for October 2026 lady on reception at the great Barr hotel spoke to Expedia and swapped it for October 2025 even though it was a non refundable booking then when I got into my room the tv remote didn’t work she gave me more batteries but had to go back again to reception for a new remote NOT once did she roll her eye or showed any signs of annoyance nothing was to much trouble so 5stars to the receptionist at the great Barr

Reception area looked ok, and the first corridoor upstairs where i presume the bridal suits are, but after that, the place is falling appart. Room door didnt feel secure, handle/lock (one of those old hotel door handles with the key hole in the middle) was nearly falling off. Luckily there was a chain. Looked like all the furniture was bought off a car boot.

The hotel is located just outside West Brom, tucked down a side street away from traffic with a shop just across the way. There was plenty of parking in the secure car park.

The room was slightly dated and seemed to be awaiting a refresh. Despite this, it was clean, warm (and not too hot), and had plenty of space.

Staff were really friendly when we arrived, and continued to be attentive during our stay. Fresh towels were provided when required.

Overall, a good place to stay, especially for the price.

Quick and friendly check-in. Staff had mad up the sofa- bed for my son, which was really nice. They ordered a taxi for us to go to the venue in town and were very informative when I asked questions.
Room was very overpriced and smelled a bit musty. Mould in shower and stains on duvet. The window frames were dirty and the whole hotel is in dire need of renovation.

I started to write a long review and then gave up. Needless to say, we won't be coming back due to a number of reasons. From exceptionally poor management to bra pads lying about in reception, to being asked to leave as they'd allocated us the wrong room, this place is awful.

HEATING NOT WORKING IN ROOMS AND INSECTS IN THE BATHROOM

Our family room was freezing due the hotel having a known problem with the heating (not working). We were provided with a portable heater which was not enough to warm up the room. We were promised a second heater by the gentleman on reception but this didn’t come. My wife and son caught a cold from sleeping in a freezing room and have been unwell all week following the stay.

Small insects were coming in and out from under the worn seal next to the sink and hand towels in the bathroom.

The hotel is dated and in need of repair/ modernisation.

Service is terrible- logged a complaint when checking out on Sunday. Heard nothing so we rang the hotel on Thursday and were told by the general manager Jason that he was too busy to discuss and to email him instead. He acknowledged the email saying he was busy all day and would investigate and come back to us asap (Sunday afternoon and still not heard back!)

Quiet & decent nights sleep.

Set within a decent looking neighbourhood & a huge car park, free as long as you enter reg details. Room was really clean & just right for a nights stay. Initially thought no tea/coffee making facilities but found them nestled in a cupboard. Decent pressure for shower. Was a little warm but felt couldn’t leave window open overnight as on ground floor with no retainer. That said a decent nights sleep & would recommend.

Our room was very dated 1980s feel and two single beds pushed together to make a double not ideal as kept falling into the gap.
Mattresses very hard too
Got woken very early both days of stay .. contractors leaving for work etc
A few tweaks and a lower price point would make this hotel better

Only reviewing a single room, which were on the second floor in the corner of the property. Reasonable for the price. Noisy bathroom extractors were clearly left on by someone in the room next so needed ear plugs to sleep and you could still hear it then. Nice check in area.

4 hours sleep in 2nights, so not ideal

Do not be put in 320, its next to the laundry room which houses the boiler or something similar, every few minutes it kicks in and a noisy fan starts rumbling away.
First nights sleep was not so bad, but I had several alcoholic drinks, but last night I didnt sleep at all ir my wife, literally laying in bed counting down for it to start again.

Rooms are old, one window wouldn't open as the mechanism was broken, lighting was not great as one tub light gone, felt small, dark and dingy, felt even worse as I only managed 4 hours sleep in 2 nights, so if sleeping is your preference I would avoid.

Room definitely needs an upgrade.

Breakfast isn't that great either to be honest I was hoping that would be the saving grace but sadly not

Plenty of parking. Quiet as off the main road. House keeping need to pay attention to certain things in the rooms. Kettle had a broken lid but was useable. Bedside light only one worked. Was all mentioned on checkout. Didn't spoil our stay. Will definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed our stay here whilst visiting family in Birmingham. Parking was easy and free.

Room was very spacious with ample sleeping space. No irons in the rooms however there was an ironing room with a an iron and ironing board. Trouser presses are installed in the rooms.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, check-in and out was effortless. Will definitely consider again.

No reservation upon arrival

I booked my room through Hotels.com but when I arrived at the hotel after a 4.5 Hr drive the hotels didn't have a reservation for me. I showed my booking reservation etc. The lady behind reception dealt with this very well and with help from a colleague managed to arrange a room for myself, even thought they were fully booked.
The rest of the hotel did feel quite dated but kept very clean. The Breakfast was a buffet type and was as expected.

The hotel was adequate for a room for one night, it's definitely in need of an update/refresh. The bath was stained and looked dirty (it wasn't actually dirty, just worn/scratched), some of the sealant was mouldy and when we arrived, I was informed that the attached pub/ restaurant weren't serving food, therefore if myself and my children wanted to eat we would have to order a takeaway from a food app. Breakfast was nice the following morning, lots of choice.

Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff who all would go out of their way to accommodate any requests. The room was neat and tidy with all the usual facilities for hotels of this type. Also the food was excellent from the fresh and plentiful breakfasts to the home-cooked cuisine on offer in the Oak Bar in the evenings. Parking was plentiful and the location is near to major transport links. The hotel is set within a nice, quiet residential area which was ideal for my needs as I was able to read documentation and write reports in my room. I will definitely stay there again if my work takes me back to the north Birmingham area. An excellent stay and I heartily recommend it!

Described as deluxe room at a price of about £90 pounds

Bathroom door does not close fully- I would say it’s generally tired and the cost should reflect this, at check in, the check person was desecrated by other work and conversation to staff and so was not so attentive.

Quite a few spiders webs and a the culprit in the bathroom which does suggest the room was not cleaned checked on the day of check.
