We arrived to a friendly greeting and given our key to room 17 on the first floor, the room was large and lovely and warm with a huge bed plus really clean. The hotel is very interesting with lots of different sitting rooms and a bar all filled with original Victorian features plus old cameras and typewriters were amongst the artefacts to look at. All the staff were really friendly and the chap on reception we spoke to on checking out told us all about the history of the hotel and even took time to show us some of the features. Absolute bonus of having its own carpark or free local parking is a must in Eastbourne, the hotel is close to the seafront and the town centre and next to the theatres so a perfect spot for visitors no matter what you are looking for. I would definitely recommend and would return if we come back to Eastbourne.

All the staff we met were great. Check in was easy even though we arrived two hours early it was no problem to them. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. All in all a great stay. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice friendly staff on arrival. Room was large and comfortable, with ensuite bathroom. Lovely large bath, but shower was a bit hit and miss with temperature. Well stocked hospitality tray which included hot chocolate and biscuits, plus tea and coffee. Hotel is conveniently located to town, beach, restaurants and theatres. On site parking was a bonus (and free). Breakfast was cereal, fruit salad etc, plus choice of hot food, cooked to order. This was our third stay and will be returning. Thank you.

Everything to hand

Use hotel when visiting the Towner Art Gallery for an exhibition. I have limited mobility and the hotel provides largely level access with large bedrooms & walkin shower. A wide choice of breakfast options, friendly staff and a 10 minute walk to Cornfield Road for the buses and shopping centre. Handy for other restaurants in the area, along with a cinema & theatre.

I added a note on my booking saying that I coukd.not walk any distabce or manage stairs & the Hotel responded immediately saying that this would not be a problem.
The very helpful night porter was on dity when I checked in & took my bags to the room (which wasclose to reception & the lift) for me.
The room could do with updating, but the bed was really comfy & bathroom spotless with a great walk-in shower.
Breakfast was good - full English + selection of cereals, juices etc.
My only complaint is that reception was unmanned when I came to check out & after repeatedly ringing the bell + waiting for 10 minutes I just left my keycard on the desk.

My partner had never been to Eastbourne, I have friends their who have a sound called Stone Rock Sound who were playing at Leaf Hall. Sadly Disappointing stay

I booked this hotel as has parking on site and looked good on the website. I felt it was shabby and dated except where I had breakfast which was ok. Other guests were very noisy and I was in room 6 and below was a strong cannabis smell which came into my room. It was a warm evening but I had to sleep with the window closed. There was no phone in the room to contact reception and felt apprehensive doing that in any case of repercussions. I informed reception in the morning and although an apology given, I didnt feel was very empathetic. Appreciate not really any control with what residents bring with them but the smell was so so strong and maybe a sign should be placed on reception.
I felt very uncomfortable during my stay at this hotel sadly. The breakfast and service was good.

Perfect spot

Very comfortable and beautifully clean room and en-suite. Staff all very friendly, helpful and seemed to genuinely care about our experience. Was delighted to receive a welcome email with key information a few days before arrival - requested a mattress topper and it was in place when we arrived. Breakfast absolutely gorgeous, treat to have proper toast not just warm bread. Staff serving breakfast particularly caring and helpful - 1st time we’ve ever tipped breakfast waiting team in hotel! Old building so some minor damage but doesn’t detract from overall experience. Certainly recommend and would be our choice if staying in Eastbourne again. 2 minutes walk from Congress Theatre. Perfect for our stay

Always a warm welcome. Hotel looking a little tired and could do with a spruce up but very comfortable and convenient for Congress Theatre and the beachfront. Parking is a wonderful bonus. Fabulous breakfast.

Lovely stay.

I was happy for the parking and not only that, but the electric charging available. I came in a non-busy weekend I guess as there were lots of space. My room was enough for me. Wish it was near sea but not. Internet fine in room. I bet some can have problems getting in shower though as it was narrow. Place has bar and lots of lounges you can relax. Breakfast has lots of variety to choose, the server was a little grumpy and not that polite to me. Bar man and receptionist was fine.

Honestly I could not find any fault with my stay. I only saw two members of staff and they were both polite and friendly and happy to help. No chef in the evening just encouraged me out and exploring the area. Parking was a major bonus.

Hotel is an old converted house, room as expected. Not a bad size, old bed not very comfortable but the shower worked well. Upon arrival I was informed the Restaurant was closed for the evening and the Car park was full so had to park in a corner blocking other guests in, but there was no problem with that. Nothing special but OK for a one night stop over

The rooms were ok, clean but could do with a fresh lick of paint. The main reason I may not stay there again was a man who shouted obscenities at 6.30am for about an hour and again in the evening around 11.00pm on a patch of green behind the hotel. It may have been a homeless person who was living in a tent there. Reception said that they could do nothing about it and that the police were not interested in solving the problem. Some neighbours pleaded with him to be quiet as they had children who were trying to sleep but he continued none the less.

Great stay for Airbourne

This is the 3rd time we've stayed at the hotel for Airbourne & always find it very friendly & comfortable. It's in a perfect spot, a short walk from the sea front, close to lots of restaurants & has free parking. Breakfast is always great & the staff extremely helpful.

Ok for a one night stay

Ideally located a short walk from the sea front, and with a small car park, but the whole place could do with a major refurbishment; very old and tired. Old dark furniture in the bedroom. Poor water flow from the shower head. Rust along the bottom of the shower cubicle panels and a mouldy shower mat.

The team here are absolutely amazing. Such a friendly welcome and nothing was a bother.

Only suggestion I would make is to change the shower heads as they just droop and spend a little on a bigger head so you can have a nice shower, and for anyone with long hair it would also be very helpful.

An amazing high quality family hotel

Warmly greeting on our arrival. We had a room along the corridor from reception area so not much walking, this was requested in our reservation. A superb family run busy, plenty of different lounges to sit in. Good choice of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit & cooked breakfasts to order

This was a lovely hotel for a night. The bed was super comfortable and the wifi was strong and we could watch streaming shows. The car park is such a benefit, and all the staff members we interacted with were so lovely, attentive and polite. However the hotel is dated - a lot of the plugs in our room didn't work, the TV is TINY and not watchable from the bed. Also we had a powercut in the morning due to tripping the fuses for the whole floor. I'd stay here again if i was coming to Eastbourne as it's a charming hotel in a great location, but just be aware it is a bit outdated.

The staff at the Devonshire were excellent, I found the hotel to be airy and light many lounges to relax in. Our suite was great with a nice balcony and sitting room with a large comfy bed. Breakfast was amazing 10/10 hats of to the chef, perfect poached egg. The Devonshire had an endearing quality to it with high ceilings and large rooms ,imagine Fawlty towers but with non of the problems 😂

Had a lovely overnight stay in order to see Fascinating Aida at the Congress Theatre - a mere step across the road! Our room was delightfully comfortable and spacious with a queen sized bed, also very comfortable. All very clean and quiet. Our booking included breakfast which was excellent, cooked to order and very tasty.
