Bedding smelt. Had it changed and the new set smelt too. There was a damp dirty smell throughout the hotel. The carpet throughout was worn and dirty. Shower was very low pressure. Disappointed really, although the staff were very helpful and friendly. Wouldn’t stay again.

It is a basic 3* hotel, no frills but great location with sea views. No bathroom toiletries…a pump on the wall which was empty but luckily we brought our own. No toilet brush! Room was a good size. 1 pillow only! So basic but good for money and service.

Disappointing - Clean the toilets, don't mask it!

As a budget hotel this place is OK. The general vibe of the place is that it's a bit tired and run down. The dated carpets haven't been hoovered in a long while. There was a strong smell of toilets when we arrived and then a strong smell of bleach and toilets after a coach of people arrived. The stairs are a mystery and only worked them out after countless runs downstairs to smoke. The wondows are locked 'for safety' and the tiny little pillows kept falling down the back of the bed that kept sliding away from the wall. I stay in Eastbourne regualry and this place was almost double the cost of others and nowhere near the same quality. The lady on reception was lovely though.

Mixed feelings but wouldn’t return

Room - clean, over bath shower excellent, only 2 lge towels and 1 small, no non slip mat or bath bath. Pillows 1 each had to ask for extra.
Check in - no information given re times for breakfast etc or where anything was.
Lift not working for 2 days we were there
Breakfast - staff very friendly but very disorganised customers and staff had no idea about the system only part self service and minimal sitting area.
Bar - apparently if we wanted a drink we had to ask receptionist they would then unlock bar serve us a drink then lock up
again as they were responsible for both jobs . So we chose to go to local friendly bar across the road . So no relaxing at the bar with a coffee after a long journey
Smoke alarm in room not sure if this was connected as it never seemed to blink.

There is a 24hr reception desk. I took my mom and my moms friend and they are elderly and require walking aids. I did send a message via the hotels.com app but it never reached the hotel. The filippino receptionist (I forgot his name, sorry) was very helpful and did everything he could to change the rooms so that we were still close together and that my mom had a room on the ground floor and that it was accessable.
The rooms were big and spacious with a king bed and en-suite. Was very clean.
Would definitely stay again. Also dog friendly so can take your fury friends with you.

Great value hotel, excellent location

Stayed two nights in a Double Room with Sea View which had a nice view of the beach and pier; worth the upgrade. The room was a great size, tastefully decorated, kept clean and well equipped with amenities such as tea making facilities, hair dryer, desk fan, ironing facilities.

The room upgrade included breakfast; standard hotel buffet breakfast, plenty on offer, refreshed regularly, overall good value. Staff courteous and professional throughout the service.

Everything we asked from reception was granted efficiently.

Bath was very slippery, as they often are. There was a sign saying a bath mat is available if you ask at reception but I think this would be better provided by default.

Yes in some areas the hotel needs a bit of TLC but you have to understand that hospitality have had a horrendous few years for business and are likely in recovery/survival mode; give them a chance to recover first with a good season! A chipped veneer or two can wait!

Would definitely return.

This hotel is a little tired but was a good location for me as my daughter lives not far away , however when I got back to my room from being out for the day my bathroom smelt like cigarettes and my towel that had been changed smelt not very nice also , our bin hadn’t been emptied so I didn’t understand why they bothered to service our room as we were only staying for two nights.

The property is in a great location. I had to keep going to reception to get card charged and was only there for one night. Rooms were clean but could do with upgrading. Toilet didn’t flush but I didn’t report at 3am, once reported they sent someone up. Staff were friendly. Parking permit was £2 for 24 hrs.

Stayed for 1 night on 21/5/22 and we had originally booked for 2 nights but changed the booking last min and glad we did!
We arrived at the hotel around 9:30pm after a busy day out with our 1 year old. We arrived and rang the bell. Out from the back begrudgingly appears a man who was the most unhelpful and rude receptionist I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. My husband couldn’t find a parking space so we had to quickly unload so he could go and find a spot. The receptionist wasn’t helpful in suggesting where we could go and was even unsure about whether we needed a parking permit. As it was Sunday the next day he said not to bother but gave us one anyway and then charged us for it!
I was then left with my toddler and all our baggage to move from the lobby to the reception foyer. I asked if he could keep an eye on my child sitting on a chair whilst I got all of our items. He agreed but with an audible huff. I then asked if we could grab the key so I could take my little one upstairs. He said not without paying, so I explained my husband would come and pay once he came back so he agreed to give me the key to our room. I then had to ask for directions where the room was. We had to get the lift to the 2nd floor. So I took as much as our belongings as I could manage with my toddler in tow to the lift. He watched me struggle as I ran backwards and forwards trying to hold the lift. On my second journey down he then asked if he could help but I had already done it all!

Pleasant stay at the Shore View hotel, Eastbourne

Initial thoughts on approaching the hotel suggested some freshening up of the outside was required. However inside the hotel was fine. Our room on the ground floor had obviously been recently refurbished and was very pleasant and comfortable. The King size bed was very comfortable.
Extra pillows were supplied promptly on request. Breakfast in the restaurant was good and the staff all very pleasant and helpful.
Minor points in our room were the need to replace the sink plug which had a rusty chain and also the towel rail.
Overall 8 out of 10.

Check in was easy. A very pleasant gentleman on reception who was very helpful with all enquiries. Parking is on the street in a particular zone, you are given a parking permit, which only cost £2.00, which was amazing! We luckily got a space outside the hotel. The hotel had a homely feel about it. The room was nice. We had a room with a sea view. Sadly the doors to the balconies were all sealed. This is a shame as it would be great to sit out there. Perhaps is for a safety reason, who knows! Lovely bright room with two windows, plenty of space to hang clothes. The room had a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Decent sized tv. Nice comfy bed. Lovely warm shower and a decent sized bathroom. Very clean. I’d stay here again.

Good standard budget accommodation

I know Eastbourne and we were down visiting family. The hotel was clean, comfortable and similar to the well known budget chains, but in an amazing seafront location. We were fortunate to have a sea view which totally made it for me. We paid the extra for breakfast, which was perfectly fine. Parking, we always managed to find something on one of the side streets away from the parking restrictions.
The staff were all welcoming and friendly.

Don’t expect more than a budget chain and you will enjoy your stay. If you want luxury, then look elsewhere.

Booked this hotel due to the fact it was pet friendly and the price was a bonus. Great value for money. The room was clean, plenty of hand sanitiser dotted about the hotel.
The only downfall was there was only 1 pillow, I asked for another one but I was told that due to COVID-19 they couldn’t supply anymore pillows.

Pleasant staff on reception.
No parking on-site but plenty of parking on the road outside the hotel (free for disabled badge holders)
Room was warm and cosy.
Great location for Eastbourne town and the beach.

Hotel ok for the money. Bar not open and no food being served so has to eat at the pub opposite which was ok.

They have a parking system to park on the road which is fine

Room was noisy- first floor so you can hear the road plus upstairs- but this is an old building which doesn’t have up to date insulation so it’s not their fault.

The shelves were not clean as we found leftover food. Behind the bed there were clothes. There was hair on the towel in the bathroom and on the bed. The shower was very difficult to control and the room could do with cleaner carpets.

We went to watch the Nature Valley Tennis Tournament at Devonshire Park so the location of the hotel was brilliant for us. Our room was third floor with small window facing the sea it was a decent size bathroom small but ok.

Hotel is located at a prime position. Check in Is what you would expect. Room is basic but has all you need. Shame about the noise ... I asked for quite room and was given a room in the ground floor, facing the back of the hotel where they have huge ventilation tubes which are very noisy.

Evening receptionist was very chatty, friendly and helpful, daytime was polite and helpful.
Staff in dining area were very friendly, helpful and pleasant.
I do think the breakfast could have two prices, one for smaller appetites, however, it was tasty and hot - or cold, re the tinned fruit! A good selection of items.
I would love the bedroom doors to close without banging, 0530 I had a near neighbour banging their door several times, and this happens late at night too, waking me up. (grumpy!)
Overall, it's a friendly, very well positioned, a little dated but fine hotel.

The room was dirty and the mattresses were so uncomfortable! Really bad experience! We were there for three nights and one morning there was no water at all, not even to flush. I informed the reception and got a dismissive reply that they knew about it and had no idea when it was going to be fixed. How helpful... The only good thing about this hotel was the location, nothing else. Breakfast was ok. Housekeeping comes to your room and do the beds only. They did not replenish the instant coffee and did not even wash the mugs.
