The room had majorproblems with ill fitting windows, allowing wind to cause horrendous draughts and rain to come pouring in to both the main room and the bath room. The problem with water ingress was very visible throughout the building.The hotel is very clearly in need of major refurbishment. It was also very disappointing to be told there was a bar, then to discover that their was very few of the drinks shown on the bar menu being available (no beer/lager at all).

We had a huge sea view room But the whole hotel needs to be brought up to date The lift has no buttons you have to stick your fingers in the hole of the floor you need It’s such a shame because it’s an ideal location for The Congress theatre don’t expect a lavish breakfast as its cereal ,toast and get there early as there was nothing left at 8.30/9 not a croissant left No hot food and no member of Staff to ask to refill cold meats or pastries I’m glad we had only booked one night would go back if it was modernised

The lifts were broken rokms dirty and smelt baf, broken tap with screw to turn, broken wardrobe offered another room that had leak and v wet carpet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Was refused a refund to go somewhere else. Sticky dirty carpet in room. Missing buttons in lifts meaning you had to put your finger in a hole with electrics. If you were on level 2 none of the buttons worked so the only way to use was call reception for them to press the button on ground level to send lift up or down. Absolute joke

We were welcomed warmly to the hotel.Our room was huge and looked directly onto the beach. There was a choice of bath and shower or level access shower. All the staff we met were friendly and the reception area has been refurbished since our last stay with a new breakfast room and bar. The room was clean with good heavy curtains.

Hotel parking easy, right in front of the hotel, you can purchase a parking permit from the hotel or pay via your phone. 5-minute walk to loads of fantastic restaurants. 10-minute walk to the pier along the beach front. Hotel room was large and spacious, and the bed was comfortable, TV had a great selection of channels to watch from, had a great sleep! Staff were friendly and welcoming. Great value for money!

Nice rooms but poor response to problems

Room was nice but got woke at 5.30am on sunday morning by a sort of loud mechanical sound aporoc every 20 srconds. It was too loud to get back to sleep. Had to dress and go to reception as no-one answering phone. The noise was only on our corridor and i met another couple siffering from it. I had to go to reception 3 times before i was taken seriously, and eventually the manager moved me to a new room, where i caught up with a bit of sleep. Sadly i missed half a day of a 2 day weekend as a result. The manager told me to email.him about it, which i did. No reply so emailed again no reply again. Rude!!!

Plug and USB sockets by the bed which was handy. Large comfy bed. Nice breakfast included in our rate.
Only downsides were that one of the cupboards in the room had a handle missing and had been screwed shut rather than replacing the handle, and there was a half-drunk bottle of wine in one of the cupboards that did open!

Quaint hotel on the waterfront. I did recieve an upgrade due to my Best Western membership. The hotel needs additional staff. The front desk person was overwhelmed. The WiFi is horrible. The elevator buttons are missing so you have to stick your finger in to activate. Overall this place needs work.

The Citrus is in need of updating especially the bedroom. We had a seaview but could hardly see the sea because of the net curtains which were dirty and the bad condensation. There was no bedside lights, an old bed, very bad plastering and peeling and even a cobweb and spider in the window ! Old bath panel. Old spotlight hanging from the celing. What was good though that it was spacious, a new carpet and a walk in shower. Continental breakfast ok...

We arrived at the hotel and had to wait to check in for 10 minutes because no one was around and they had no bell to ring for assistance.
The room we stayed in was not clean, especially the toilet which had poo stains down it and the smallest amount of toilet roll, these were rectified when I complained. The bathroom door also didn’t close which was embarrassing for our teenage son who didn’t want his parents to hear him on the toilet.

The heating was on all night even though the radiator was on Zero which made it an uncomfortable sleep.

For what we payed to stay at this hotel we expected the room to be much cleaner and better presented.

Comfy room in a great location. Games room too!

We had a great stay here. We were at the top in a huge room with a large walk-in shower. It was clean and comfy, and all the staff we met were friendly and welcoming. There's a games room in the basement with sofas, a pool table and table football, and it was nice to socialise with other guests for a bit. It's well situated for the Wishtower part of the seafront and we had great views from our room.

What accessible room?

I booked this because it said accessible room. What they don't tell you is that there are 9 steps to get to the reception before you get to the accessible room. There is no lift or ramp to take a wheelchair into the hotel. My mum had to climb out of her wheelchair and use the steps which caused her real pain. This is false advertising because the room is only accessible once you've climbed the 9 stairs, which defeats the whole object. Picture is of the stairs which have to be climbed to get the ACCESSIBLE room!!!

Great location, friendly reception staff, well kept but very tired. Room was huge but bathroom showed a lot of timescale on taps and shower screen. Towels were also stained. Staff at breakfast were just too in your face, to the point of nosey about what you were taking to eat. The Scottish lady was also unprofessional moaning about other diners with food they had left. One night stay

Stayed one night, hotels locks front door promptly at 23:00. The room we had was spacious and sea-front facing.
It was clean and centrally heated, had sufficient towels and pillows.
The interior is dated, but given we stayed only one night it didn't detract.
We had to ask for coffee and loo roll, but the staff was friendly and provided without question.
We didn't eat at the hotel.

Unbelievable, you get what you pay for.

Turned up and was greeted by a very excitable gentleman behind the reception, who informed us of the rules of the stay. Basically not to leave any valuables in your room and front door is locked at 11pm.
On entering the lift, we came across our first major concern, the buttons for the ground floor and 1st floor were missing and you had to push your finger into the mechanism to get the lift to operate. Then on entering the rooms. They are very basic, really needs updating. No mirror in the bathroom, no hot water. In the evening or in the morning. Breakfast was a shock too, hadn't read the detail when booking no hot breakfast, I know it's a budget hotel but this is a very low budget hotel. This was booked in error and will definitely not be back to use these facilities again

The accommodation was in dire need of upgrading. There were areas of the twin room requiring attention - there was a draught from the window, the curtains did not fully cover the window meaning that the bed at the window had a streetlight shining in all night, there was no wardrobe, only one chair, the bathroom door opened facing onto the beds which meant that the light shone directly onto both beds which I found very unusual and the bottom of the door required attention. However the saving point was that the room was perfectly clean and on leaving I thanked the cleaning staff. The Reception Staff were friendly and helpful.

Took 2 rooms for 2 nights. The rooms had no heating with radiators stone cold. Reported to reception and managers multiple times. Went home early because room too cold to spend second night there.
Nothing done, despite multiple complaints.

Bathroom had no plug and no mirror. Water pressure very weak.

Morning of second day elevator broke down multiple times. It was very old and noisy and had we not been on the top floor we would have used the stairs

If this is the standard of \"Best Western\" things have dramatically declined.

Admittedly it was a cheap hotel but you do expect basic amenities like heating !!

It was excellent for me as a solo traveller.Easy to locate. The staff were very helpful, the room I stayed in was clean and well decorated. I liked the wet room bathroom and the facilities in it were easy to use. The only problem I could see was the shortage of towell rails. There was only one towell rail but the bedroom was large and could accommodate 3 people. As the wet room is also large perhaps 2 more towell rails could be attached to the wall opposite the shower seat for when 2 people stay.

We recently stayed at the Citrus Hotel in Eastbourne and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Our room was spacious, featuring a lovely sea view that added a touch of tranquility to the stay. The large bay window, complete with comfortable armchairs, was perfect for relaxing while enjoying the view.

The room itself was well-appointed with a big mirror, a cozy coffee table, and nice bedside tables. There was a desk to work at, which came in handy, along with a good-sized TV for downtime. We appreciated the power outlets with USB connections, making it easy to charge our devices.

The hotel provided thoughtful amenities like extra pillows and hot beverages in the room. A fan was also available, which helped maintain a comfortable temperature. The clean towels added to the overall sense of care taken by the staff.

First of all the important things- the staff went over and above at every turn and I would say faultless, the location couldn’t be better, you are literally on the sea front in the most beautiful part of Eastbourne, and the beds were very comfortable and bedding was spotless. However if you are looking for a beautifully decorated and lovely hotel, the Citrus is not for you. The rooms are nothing like they are on the website. I have never stayed in a backpackers hostel but if I did, I imagine it would look like this. Our room had cracked walls and peeling paint everywhere, the lift was like a death trap and even the staff said don’t use it. Breakfast was ok for a continental. Having said all that, for what I paid and for the superb location, I probably would stay here again but I would ask for one of the rooms which has been redecorated since it was housing those who shall remain nameless.

For the price that we paid for two nights - really can’t complain! Spacious room, 2 big mirrors. Decent size bed. Plenty of storage space. Friendly staff. Drinks and snacks available for purchase at reception. Great size TV in the room.
Mirror in the bathroom would be nice! Didn’t need to use the hairdryer but tested it and sounded really powerful. Could do with a couple of sockets next to the bed.

We asked for a quieter room, were given a room on the 3rd floor and I’d say it was quiet. narrow lifts so don’t think it’d be too comfortable with the luggage but plenty of space for two people. Would stay here again if we were going back to the area. Great value for money.

Staff were very welcoming on arrival and made checking in very smooth, the room was very spacious and clean, bed was very comfortable and all linen very clean and fresh smelling, good selection of choices for breakfast, would definitely stay again.

Rooms were damp, ceiling falling down, bits of the wall missing, skirting boards missing, furniture damaged, lift not working. List goes on. Terrible place. Checked in and then checked back out after an hour and found somewhere else to stay! Floor had certain stains on it. Walls was marked, bathroom door woulnt close.

This hotel is in a great location for the beach and the Towner gallery (1 min walk!) The staff were so friendly and helpful. We found it a really cost effective option for a quick and easy one night stay in Eastbourne.

A lovely stay

A lovely hotel in a very good position. There's been quite a bit of renovation which is continuing. The staff were amazing, so helpful & polite. The room was huge. Hoping to go back later in the year tho I will take my own pillow as theirs were very uncomfortable.

The staff were one of the most welcoming we've ever experienced in a hotel.Leanne was a gem & couldn't offer enough help.Ashley was a very helpful & chirpy Duty Mgr.Louis was a Mgr who turned his hand to anything that needed to be done in the hotel & really cared about staff & guests.Our room very clean & the bed extremely comfortable.We were given a sea view on the side of the hotel.Some suggestions that I discussed with hotel staff were:need for bedside lights & more than 2 plug sockets.Internet connection in room was very sketchy but strong in reception.Self-service continental breakfast was more than adequate.Choice of cereals,fruits,yoghurt,freshly warmed pastries,toast & spreads.Wide choice of coffees from a machine & a choice of teas.Plenty of seating available.There is an elevator. Considering we stayed during a busy Bank Holiday weekend,we still managed to find a parking space every day.Street parking outside the hotel is free 6pm to 8am.The hotel provided parking vouchers for 3 hours parking at a cost of £2.20 per 3 hours outside of these times (subject to number of tickets allocated to the hotel by the council).Unfortunately,the council had not provided enough vouchers to cover the holiday weekend.Although not their fault,the hotel was very apologetic.If vouchers are unavailable,parking is payable via a phone app at a higher cost,although cheaper than areas closer to the pier/town(about 10-15 min walk).Free road parking is available in streets away from seafront.
