We loved our stay at Alcoba del Rey, the hotel is a wonderful haven away from the main tourist area of Seville. It’s probably a 25 minute walk into town which is very interesting and passes through los Setas and through little streets to the Cathedral and Alcázar Real which are stunning.
The rooms are beautifully decorated in Moorish style and very characterful. The breakfast is wonderful as is the food at Rositas in the evening.
The little streets around the hotel are typical of the area being a little run down but the highlight is the Macarena church which is almost next door. We would definitely stay again.

The hotel is quite old, with dated decor. The bed was decent, but the room was dark and had a strong sewage smell. When I mentioned it to reception, the staff was kind and tried to help with incense, but explained that the sewage system in Seville is very old. Still, it's unpleasant to arrive in your room and be hit by that odor.\"

Our room was on the ground floor and the street outside was very noisy until late / early hours. There was no partition to the bathroom, no enclosure or even a curtain for the shower and the toilet was just in the corner behind a wooden screen.

Really enjoyed our stay at Alcoba del Rey. Staff was very friendly and helpful and gave excellent dinner recommendations. Location is a bit out of the way so taxi was best way to get to the sites. We also did not realize our room did not have a shower until we were already there - only a bathtub with a wand. Overall very charming hotel. Breakfast was good too.

Stay at Alcoba del Rey was satisfactory - reminded of riads in Morocco. The staff was very helpful in advising of places to visit ; enjoyed walking to places of interest. Breakfast was pleasant - Fabiola even accommodated our early departure and served breakfast prior to it.

Very poor conditions in superior rooms

The SUPERIOR rooms of this hotel are small, very noisy, damp and include the WC, shower and sinks next to the beds. The description of the superior rooms indicates 32 sqm - but this includes all the space for the toilets and shower, and the tiny space left in the end is just enough for a bed. Not even a small desk would fit inside, so I had to use my laptop on the halway of this hotel. I actually thought that I have been given by mistake a standard room, but the hotel insisted and insisted that these are their SUPERIOR rooms, although in the last evening of our stay the receptionist offered to show us a superior room to our \"superior\" room. In addition, due to the shower and WC being next to the bed in the room, the atmosphere is damp with a smell of plumbing. The rooms are presented as being sound proof, but even with the windows closed you can understand what people are talking on the street, not to mention the terible noise when the street are cleaned and the trash removed at 5am in the morning. The hotel also presents that they have a garden (plus terrase), but there is no garden, and the terrase is scorched by the bare sun. Well, who wishes can emerse themselves in a hot jacuzzi on the terrase to run away from the heat. To access the Wlan personal data has to be provided to 3 partie. At booking, the payment was supposed to be due at the hotel, but my card was immediately and without a warning charged. Clearly, a bussiness model of tricking customers!

Beautiful building with a lovely warm welcome. The food in the bar is truly excellent and in terms of value for money i dont think ive had any better. The gazpacho was particularly delicious and better than the one i had in very well known and much more expensive place. Rooms were great with massive drencher shower. Only spent one there but it made a big impression.

Beautiful interior, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast included in adjoining cozy bar/restaurant. However, hotel faces very noisy street (traffic, garbage trucks, bar clientele late at night) so I would avoid any room facing the street, especially the room overtop the bar and the ground floor room facing the sidewalk.

Besides the charming overall character of the hotel which we loved, and the style of the rooms which we loved, what stood out most was the extreme helpfulness of the consistently friendly staff - especially bearing in mind out lack of Spanish. Our booking had gone slightly wrong so we were given a room more suitable, the amenities; roof garden, jaccuzi were well used by us and all my companion's small queries were met with grace - and information! Great place! And if you like walking around a city, also a good location - 'main' Sevilla not too far away!

The first room we were given was absolutely beautiful but had an odd swage-like smell. When we asked to be moved, they accommodated us by giving us 3 different room options, all of which were equally as beautiful and without the initial smell. The hotel staff was terrific and the shared restaurant owners, Pedro and Faviola, made us truly feel like we were at home.

The rooms are traditionally decorated and organised around an inner atrium which is wonderful. Check-in at the hotel is up to midnight and the desk is covered 24 hours a day.(Useful to know as our flight was scheduled to arrive late in the evening). There is a taxi rank 20metres from the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are well presented areas close to reception to relax or take coffee. The solarium on the roof provides another area to take a break sitting in the sun. Breakfast is from a buffet. Just ask and the staff will deliver another coffee. You will enjoy the bathroom as the shower is large and can deliver a lot of water. We enjoyed our stay.

small, quaint hotel near the north end of the old city.... A good 20 to 30 minute walk to El Centro where the Alcazar and magnificient Seville Cathedral are located.
The Hotel is a funky blend of Islamic and mid 19th century Spanish architecture. The room features really cool retro porcelin fixtures and circa 1915 wall and light switches.
One thing that became apparent quite early was that there is virtually no plastic used inthe room. we are talking solid iron, colorful tiles and glass everywhere. Nothing made of disposible plastic
by European standards this would be considered a giant room.

unfortunately, the major drawback is the completely ineffective configuration of the shower and porcelain tub. It could be an easy one day plumbing and masonry job to correct this but when you take a shower, water sprays everywhere. But hey this is an early turn of the century style hotel have a cool district of Seville. I am not mistaken, showers didn't exist when this urban hacienda was built
... another slightly negative aspect of our stay was that the breakfast was quite disappointing. Very few selections.

Lovely hotel, great staff

Stayed here for our 5 days in Seville and had a very nice stay. Very friendly staff ready to do anything to help. Hotel has a certain style all of its own, charming seating areas and bar. room was basic but clean and tidy, looked after every day. Very nice breakfast, laid out fresh every day, gorgeous orange juice, fruit, cereal, breads, meats and croissants.

Mucho Gusto Alcoba del Rey

We booked 2 double rooms here for a joint Birthday get together with friends. We were welcomed from the moment we set foot into this amazing 'boutique and unique' hotel The building has some stunning features. The rooms were styled and themed individually, with Moorish decor/colour palette/furniture and architectural features in the rooms. The overall look was achieved successfully and with a range of mood/shaded lighting, rainwater shower, plus a four poster bed with a draped muslin canopy made this a real special place to spend our 3 night stay. The staff were very informative and friendly, and had a good grasp of English to answer any kind of query that we had. The breakfast buffet was no problem to us at all with a great selection of local and traditional items, plus some extras each day, and for coffees - just ask! there was a rooftop terrace/lounge area with a Jacuzzi as well, where you could relax and soak up the sun.

Disappointing

The staff were lovely, really friendly. The room was ok, the bed was massive and really really comfortable. There was a choice of soft and hard pillows which for me is very important.
The Moroccan style of the room was lovely down to the last detail although I feel like it could do with a little upgrade.
The rain shower was amazing really powerful and very big. It was at one end of the room opposite the bed and had a sink either side which I thought was great.
Sadly there was no separate toilet only an ornate screen to block it off from the rest of the room. I’ve been with my partner a long time so that was fine but if you were a new couple it would be awful!!

There was lots of lighting in the room but very muted and because there’s no separate bathroom I couldn’t see very well to put make up on. This also gave the room an overall dingy feel to it.
The hotel is advertised as having an upstairs terrace with a bar which was a selling point for me but unfortunately the bar doesn’t open until the summer season. The weather was warm when we were there and it would have been lovely to have a drink upstairs.
The room was right on the main foyer which I didn’t love also it was right on street level on very noisy.
Breakfast was average.
I dont like to give bad reviews especially since everyone was so lovely but I was a little disappointed in the room.

Boutique hotel in old town

The hotel is located in an older area of Sevilla called Macarana. The staff were pleasant and several of the staff members spoke English very well which helped us (who speak Spanish poorly).

The hotel room came with free WiFi like many of the hotels in Spain. The bed was comfy. The restroom was separated by a large wooden door on sliding rollers. To give one another privacy, my wife and I raised the volume on the TV. The hotel came with breakfast, but we often left earlier than 8am when the service started.

It was easy to travel by taxi to some of the main attractions. With 8 Euros (one way) we traveled to the Catedral (the Giralda) daily for sightseeing. Taxi drivers were familiar with the hotel which made it easy to return for a quick nap.

We would recommend the hotel for travelers who enjoy boutique hotels.

Great location in beautiful Seville

I stayed with my 9yr old son.We shared a beautiful room with an awsome bathroom. The bed was comfy and the shower was powerful with some excellent products. The whole hotel smelt so good. Breakfast was included in our price and came with great coffee and fresh orange juice. We really enjoyed the location. Seville is a great city for walking around. The bars near the hotel were very good, and of course the excellent Rosita's downstairs. Everyone was very friendly. We would stay there again.

Beautiful, small hotel with great staff service, excellent breakfast, larger clean rooms-each is unique and well decorated. It is located about 15blks North of the busy core tourist/shopping area. This means it is quieter (peaceful at not) and you can walk 1 blk to bus stop or the taxi stand to reach core or walk 2 blks to a private bike rental store, or about 10-15min more walking S to the core. We recommend biking as Seville has many KM of bike paths. Staff here is very helpful.

Perfect little Hotel away from the centre

We wanted a few days in Seville and this hotel proved perfect - out of the center - but it was quiet and a good bus service was variable - a taxi would cost less than 5 euros to get to the cathedral.
The Hotel was atmospheric. We only had a standard room - but was more than adequate for a 3 night stay - breakfast was included and was good.

I was really surprised by the excellent reviews for this hotel. The decor was unique but the service was mediocre, the location is quite far from major sites (cathedral, alcazar), and while the rooms are pretty they are wholly impractical: claw foot tubs with no shower, incredibly dim lighting, and no seating aside from bed and desk. This was one of 9 hotels I stayed in during this Spain trip and it was by far the most expensive. Overall not worth the price.

The hotel has a bar on the ground floor. This is a bar that used to server breakfast but in the evening it is just a simple street bar accessible to locals. The amount of screaming is incredible and it goes well inside the hotel. On top of all that - the bar uses the table that is located in the hotel lobby for bar visitors. So you don't really feel like living in the hotel, but rather living in the bar.
Again, the noise was incredible and so loud that even the earplugs can block it. If you need to rest - then just forget about it, I was literally jumping on my bed because the screams were so loud and annoying.
I actually had to tell the stuff that I will call the police due to the amount of noise if it doesn't stop after midnight. I think that helped. They stopped.
The bar owner though was ill mannered, she actually ran after me almost to my room saying something agitated in Spanish. That was a bit frightening.

Another weird thing - there was no a door in my room that separates living area and the shower. All the steam from hot water goes inside the room immediately. And humidity settles in int he living room as well.

Air conditioning was not blowing the hot air at all. You can live with it in the hot days, but it should be an issue in summer.

the only bright sport - the staff was extremely helpful. The morning lady on the reception was extremely kind. I really appreciate it but it doesn't help to handle the rest of the issues at the hotel.

I stayed for a few nights on business, with a day or so at the beginning for sightseeing.

The hotel has a great, almost Arabic vibe to it. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable (beds - 2 singles pushed together, which I am never a fan of) were a little hard, but that's only my taste.

The staff are excellent! They couldnt be more helpful. And the attached restaurant (Rosita's, I think) was also great - Rosita really made you feel at home - though this was only open for 1 of the days I was there.

The river is about a 20 minute walk away, with the various museums and other places of interest close by.

The rooftop area is also nice to sit and have a beer at the end of the day.

nice hotel with an arabian feel, surprisingly nice restaurant - tapas and used by locals. friendly staff in hotel and restaurant. nice rooftop terrace but jacuzzi and not a pool and i thought when i booked it. hotel easy to get to by car but parking an issue. the hotel has a garage but it is a bit of a tight squeeze. main attractions/restaurants 30 min walk away but direct and easy to walk

A \"different\" hotel with great charm

This hotel certainly has the WOW factor and was a joy to stay in. It is different from the standard hotel and surrounds you with friendship and comfort. I stayed in the Romantic Room, I was a solo traveller and so am not sure why but loved it.
The food and drink is available in the attached small bar. Both are excellent!

A very pleasant stay. The hotel staff are excellent and the hotel itself very comfortable. The small cafe next to the hotel with an entry to the hotel serves very good meals. not fine dining but good plain cooking. The rooms are very well equipped and the heating and hot water well up to standard.

Charming hotel with loads of history

Charming hotel with loads of history. Our room was beautifully decorated with patterned ceiling and many moorish style artifacts. They say every room is different. Rooms round an airy courtyard. Public areas full of tiles, running water, antique furniture. Very attractive.
20 mins walk along busy alleys to the centre of the tourist area - which was a plus for us. Public bus and tourist bus 100m from the door.
Roof garden we didn't use. Friendly helpful staff.
Breakfast cheap and cheerful - if you want something more full and expensive you can go over the road. GPS found it OK. Definitely worth parking in their garage for the whole of your stay, it's a pedestrian-friendly and car-unfriendly city!

An excellent boutique hotel, friendly and clean.

A very friendly welcome on arrival (and throughout our stay, from the two day-time receptionists, and one evening reception). The Moorish style hotel itself is beautiful inside, and the room was a reasonable size. Excellent 'drench' shower and kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. There's also a rooftop terrace with hot tub - ideal once you've had a day of sightseeing. It would appear that there's also a rooftop bar, but as we visited in mid-September I guess it was 'out of season' a little and the bar wasn't open.

Breakfast was a simple buffet (bread, pastries, meat, fruit, cheese) and options of tea or coffee. There's an associated restaurant next door, which we didn't get around to trying other than for a drink.

Around a 2km walk from Santa Justa railway station, or there's a taxi rank about 100 metres from the hotel, or a 1k walk to the top end of La Alameda de Hercules. The receptionists were very good on recommendations of local restaurants (don't overlook Triana on the other side of the river) and on the best routes through the narrow streets of Seville.

Owners were extremely helpful and informative about things to do both locally and regionally. They went out of their way to assist with planning. The hotel itself has a wonderful ambiance and is slightly removed from the tourist-laden center of town, but close to the Alameda de Hercules, which has wonderful options for dining and is frequented by locals.

nice little place in d'town seville but off main drag. very romantic old moorish house turned into hotel, so expect the vintage characteristic to carry through. ambience good, but darkness of room and first floor venue difficult. very pretty, but not perfectly comfortable re light and setting opportunities. a good walk from downtown and alcazar but with good restaurants nearby.

This is a unique hotel in a restored moorish house. Looted it and look forward to staying here again. It is a little far to the Saville Cathedral, 10/15 minutes walk but close to the city walls and place de Herculese where you and eat out and stay out late. Great place to stay

Fantastic stay on our honeymoon. The front desk girls gave excellent advice regarding flamenco dancing shows, places to eat, and a nearby square that is frequented by locals. Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was fantastic - local fare plus eggs and coffee made to order. This hotel is not in the touristy area, so you get a lot more bang for the buck. Also, it provides an opportunity to see a little more of the \"real\" Seville. Highly recommended.

Great hotel with a theme. Terrific breakfast too

Its locaation is a short walk to the center of things. But in a way that makes it nice. A cab ride back is inexpensive. The experience is totally worth it. Center of town might be too noisy. Breakfast is nutritional and fresh. Excellent hotel

Lille arabisk Boutique hotel

Mindre hotel beliggende lidt langt fra byens kerne. En taxa var nødvendigt selvom det på hotel.com sælges som at ligge i inder centrum. Det er ikke korrekt. Noget slidt værelse i arabisk stil. Morgenmaden skulle indtages i en lokal bar ved siden af hotellet. Noget snasket, men sødt personale. Ikke stor udvalg. En lidt skuffende oplevelse set ud fra Hotel.com ´s billeder på nettet.

Die Lage hat uns sehr gut gefallen, es ist nicht weit in die Altstadt und es gibt in näherer Umgebung viele Bars und Cafés sowie einen kleine Supermarkt.
Die Hotelparkgarage ist ein paar 100 Meter entfernt, aber gut zu Fuß zu erreichen.
Das Frühstück war in Ordnung und wird in der kleinen Bar direkt im Hotel serviert.
Das Personal war sehr sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
