The service esa y what o expected from a hotel in that area. They only gave us two towels for the entire stay, I asked for more, because we where 3 in the room and that never gave us more.

The breakfast was very limited, we ended up haunt breakfast outside.

Great hotel!!! We booked the ocean view room and it was just perfect. The installation in general it’s very elegant. The place it’s just a few minutes walking to the Hagai Sophia, the blue Mosque, restaurants and many shopping stores. You can’t go wrong choosing this hotel. It was the perfect choice for me!!

Breakfast was okay. Staff gave the impression that requests were a nuisance, which may be a cultural thing. It was recommended that we don't drink the tap water, and most days 4 oz of water was provided and if we needed more, it was available for a fee, not high but much good will could have been earned at little cost to them if it were provided gratis. Cats! If you like cats, Istanbul is the town for you and they wandered through the restaurant, even jumping on the table if you had left to get something. Again, a cultural thing, just something you don't see anywhere else. Bed was not particularly comfortable, I would suggest replacing it. The location is excellent, walkable to the famous mosques and Topkapi palace, right on the waterfront and close to good restaurants.

Don’t park your car here unless you want dents

The reason for the overal poor rating is due to our car having multiple door dents that resulted within the hotel parking grounds. So if you have a nice or newer car with no dents we would not recommend parking here. They need to incorporate valet parking to avoid this. Guests were careless obviously and now repairing the door dents (5 new ones) will cost more than the few days of accommodations. Aside from this disaster the hotel was clean and located in a very walkable spot. Breakfast was good and the service prompt. Beds and room were comfortable and typical of a 4 star rating.

This property is terrible. Have so many issues with the AC. It was extremely hot. Even the outside was cold or some days. The staff also was terrible. They did nothing to help. They would sometimes hang up and would not even try to help the situation. Then the last night one of our lights in the restroom blew off in the whole room didn’t have any electricity. I definitely would not recommend this property. Staff was very unprofessional

The location was good. We were able to walk to many places within 10 minutes. The view of the sea was amazing! The rooms were a good size. The restaurant breakfast was expensive- Twenty Euros a person- so we chose to eat at the local restaurants on the main road overlooking the sea.

The front desk staff were not that friendly. They did not give us a warm welcome when we arrived. They didn’t smile, were short with their answers and didn’t look at us while checking in. The door man and the bellhop were very kind and warm with their interactions.

The hotel has a great location overlooking the sea. The staff is friendly.
The breakfast is great in general. However, if you’re going to stay multiple days then it becomes repetitive and may consider taking the breakfast elsewhere.
When I was booking this hotel, I read some bad reviews related to the air conditioning. I think this must an old problem. The air conditioning is very good now.

I was really disappointed. Though housekeeping came everyday to clean the room - they never changed the bedsheets - i stayed for a week and that was disgusting. It took me two days to get bathroom slippers none were in the room. No robe was in the room. The bath tub was never cleaned i felt mucky taking a shower. This is not a hotel service worst experience ever. The restaurant desserts were nice, the mains and starters were awful.

I had booked 2 rooms with partial view and it was indeed partial view but I didn’t mind it. There was an ancient rock wall that cannot be torn down which adds a majestic look to the sea. The rooms looked exactly as the pictures so I was happy about that. They were very clean and spacious. The hotel location was perfect and grant easy access to the central market and monumental sights.The staff were ok and professional. They greet you and take care of you the minute you arrive. They did keep our luggage after check out while we go sightseeing and return when we were ready, which was nice of them.The breakfast was not that great it’s not worth paying for; they didn’t have a good variety and is bland. I could have been better off getting breakfast in local restaurants but they had Starbucks which is perfect for coffee lovers like me. Overall I had a great time staying there and would stay there again.

We had to ask several times to have our room cleaned despite leaving the door handle sign to show we’d like the housekeeping services. Someone came into our room whilst we was out and took our dirty towels but did not replace the towels and did not even do basic housekeeping of changing the bins. We requested iron multiple times to which we finally got it late evening. I did send a message to the hotel to which they said someone will clean the room but they still didn’t do a good job. Other than that we had a pleasant stay

Great location within easy walking distance of main shopping bazaar and other historical sites including the famous mosques. The hotel is located across the seaside with great views of container ships floating past. The only one thing that impacted me was the room fridge which did not work and when I attempted to plug it in it almost caught fire. The fridge was never replaced during the duration of my stay which resulted in some of the food I had bought having to be disposed of.

The Kalyon Hotel was suggested by my friend who lives in Istanbul. We really liked the closeness of the hotel to the Sultan Ahmet where majority of the touristic attractions were accessed by walking. Our room was facing to the Marmara sea. The room was quiet and clean. There was a minibar refrigerator. It was empty and hot at the beginning. If you run the air condition and leave the enclosed furniture door open (not the fridge door), the fridge will get cold enough to have cold water. You will not have ice but the front desk can send you a bucket of ice. Ask the front desk how to go to Sultan Ahmet. They will open the back door for you. It is less than 5 minutes to Sultan Ahmet. Otherwise, the map shows 15 minutes. The front desk, Enis, Ekrem, and others like Fatih and Omer (sorry I couldn’t remember all the names) were absolutely kind and answered all of our questions. We highly recommend this place. One more thing, the hotels in Turkey run in different way. We shouldn’t expect the same kind of facilities and the same styles. Be a little open minded and pass your recommendations to the hotel so that they can implement. Thanks Kalyon Hotel for making our visit to Istanbul memorable.

The air conditioning is a big problem. The rooms are hot. The AC is poor and it only stays on for four hours. The room never gets cool. The staff is unwilling to address it. They just they are working on it. Then you return to a hot room. If you pay $200 a night for a room they shouldnt be cheap about the air conditioning. Honestly the hotel in general isnt that great. But the AC makes it a total deal killer.

The space of the room is good also the view is good and clean
The problem with air conditioning I have to call the receptionist to ask them to open the Aircondtion and they close it after short time. I have no control in the room for air conditioner. Also another big problem room doesn’t have sound isolation. I could hear each step around all the laughing talking car tram and street music it was very very noisy I could not sleep at all . I paid 130$ for the night it is not worth it for that much problems. One of the lady stuff in the receptionist was racism I was talking with her in English she said I don’t speak your language immediately before even I completed my word.. we are tourists visiting not living and this is a hotel how come you expect from us to speak Turkish

Sophisticated hotel in a great location. Sightseeing boat port is visible from the window, Sultanahmet and Topkapi palace is a short walk away through the back door. Was a nice property in a lovely location. Sea view was amazing. Room and ensuite was of very good standard.
Mostly the staff was amazing and very helpful especially Mohammed. He excelled in his job and also the young lady on concierge who worked alongside him (sorry I forgotten her name) was also very helpful. In general the concierge/reception team gave me a very warm welcome and were very helpful throughout my stay.The 2 security guys were also very helpful.

If you dont mind feeling unwelcome and a hard bed

The good points are the location and a lady at the front was welcoming even though she was not the one checking us in. Any other ones at the front just had frowns. Not at all welcoming or hospitable. We are world travelers, we've stayed at many places and we are very friendly people. I don't understand those in the hospitality industry that can't smile. The room was shoebox sized, but it was for one night so we're not picky. The bed was the hardest bed I've ever slept on, it was a terrible night. The shower didn't drain properly at all, there were empty shampoo bottles left from previous guest. No toilet paper. Not ECO friendly, towels are wrapped in plastic, you can't control the temperature so it was hot and we had to leave the window open to make it cooler. Of course then we had to put up with noise. Walls are paper thin and the back alley is noisy.
The next morning we checked out early (no \"how was your night?\")and asked if we could leave our vehicle parked for a couple hours while we walked around for a bit. The answer was no and he doesn't have authority to authorize that. Never had a problem with that sort of thing before at other hotels?! Then after asking us if we took anything from mini-bar, we answered \"no\", he radioed a co-worker to check that we weren't lying about taking anything from the minibar. Pathetic minibar, I'll add. What a terrible experience. I'm very grateful it was just one night.

As a pilot and a traveler who has been to over 60 countries this has to be one of the worst hotel's I have ever come across. No concept of customer service or welcoming the customer. PLEASE BEWARE DO NOT STAY HERE. Ask for an Iron they won't have one, the phone in the room will not work, there is no room service, if you ever plan on checking in late at night you will not find anyone at the reception. The breakfast is below average and no public transport any where nearby the hotel. You have to work very hard to earn a 1 star review in my book and they made sure they did the needful.

I booked a five night stay, sea view room. The view was great, second floor looking right over the sea. This was the top floor of this part of the hotel. The safe is big and easy to programme. Bed big and firm, room a decent size.
Bathroom a bit dated but servicable, shower cubicle small, bathroom door tatty, needs replacing.
Room service was a bit hit and miss in terms of the water or shower gels being replaced for the first couple of days. Evened out after that. We didn't say anything as witnessed someone else complaining on the water when we checked in and getting blank responses.
We also found out on our last night that there was a way in and out from the back which saved walking all round from the seafront. Would have been good to be told!
Main problem was that the room had an interconnecting door with poor noise insulation. On various nights we shared technicolour loud noise from the connected rooms tv, a rather prolonged intimate session, and general late night laughing and messing around. All fine if in privacy, but this really wasn't!

Good location overall and affordable compared to others if you want the seaview in this part of Istanbul.

No aircon for 3 days staff didnt want to change rooms or get it fixed. The shower cannot be showered in from how dirty it is. The lined is stained and dirty the only pro is the location of this hotel this is more of a motel. Do not book

This is a very friendly hotel - staff are what will make me visit this place again. We were offered a room with a sea front view which was great! Highly recommend to make the reservation with a sea view. Clean hotel with very good house keeping. Very good location and is only a 10 minute walk to Hagia Sophia / blue mosque etc. As mentioned before amazing hotel staff. In my opinion very very reasonable price for the room. Added perks included a fridge in my room. Would recommend to any travellers! Even when leaving the hotel the staff got us a taxi to the airport - Thanks indeed to Kalyon for a good stay!

The property took good precautions against covid. It was very clean, the building and the rooms. There were sanitizers and masks available. Most of Turkey seemed this way ,restrooms were very clean and hand sanitizers were found everywhere.
The only issue was the breakfast, it is not as nice as it used to be as they don't offer buffets anymore and the same food everyday got repetitive, staff also couldn't handle all the guests as it was crowded during breakfast. I would still recommend the breakfast for the breathtaking view of the sea in the morning.
The hotel was great and I would go back to it or recommend it to a friend.
