We booked the two bedroom option which in fact were two internally joined rooms. They were spacious and clean. Room service was good and daily. The aoartments were across the the small road opposite the hotel. A typical Turkish breakfast with plenty of choice. All the staff were very helpful and polite. As for location it us only 60 yards to the start of restaurants and shops. Even better on 3-400 yards from the blue and Sophia Mosques.

Very pleasant experience to the hotel. Staff very attentive, hotel very clean including the room, delicious breakfast with various choices on the menu and the location was fantastic: rooftop terrace with view on the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia and on the other side with the Bosphorus. The hotel is a walking distance to main historical attractions like The Topkapi Palace, The Basilica Citern, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia in Plaza Sultanahmet. It is located in the historical area with quick access to public transportation, restos, and souvenir shopping. Uber works also very well. A little bazaar nearby and the Grand Bazaar is a 15 minutes walk. Thanks again Ferman Old City Hotel. If to return we’ll certainly stay here again.

Extremely happy with our stay at the Ferman Hotel in Istanbul. You cannot ask for a better location specifically if you have limited time. Close to all the historical sites. Above all the staff was super helpful. A shout out for Omer, very friendly and helpful gentleman. Our room got upgraded when we arrived at the hotel. I apologize that I don’t remember every one’s name but all staff at the reception and breakfast station was extremely polite, professional and friendly. Thank you for making our stay very pleasant.

The location of this charming hotel is simply unbeatable. Situated in the heart of the historic Old City, it offers easy access to some of Istanbul's most iconic attractions. The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar were all within a short walking distance. The hotel's reception and staff deserve a special mention for their service. Hotel upgraded our stay for 4 nights to a suite that had a balcony and view of the sea. Each and every staff members were helpful and attentive to all our needs. Breakfast in the mornings had a great selection of Turkish and non Turkish food. The best part of our stay was the view from the rooftop deck. We got great tips on where to eat by the staff. This was my first time in Istanbul, and I couldn't have had such a great experience without the wonderful assistance from the hotel staff. Ferman arranged my transportation to and from the airport. They were very friendly, and courteous, provided tips for places to dine, and tips for travelers. The staff was very knowledgeable. We had four people in our room, and the room was very spacious, had three different bed options to accommodate all of us, was high quality, clean, and had a large, spacious, and modern bathroom. Overall this was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend Ferman to anyone traveling to Istanbul.

Speaking of the rooms, they were incredibly spacious and boasted a balcony, which provided breathtaking views of the city. The location was just a three to five minute walk to the blue mosques and Hagia Sophia.
The view from the rooftop breakfast area was the best view , and that was the reason we chose this hotel . Breakfast was good with a variety of food.

There was money exchange a lane away and restaurants as well.
We shopped from The Tree of life shop that’s just there with good quality ceramics and excellent people working there as it’s a family owned business . ( I would recommend that shop)

Overall our experience at Ferman hotel old city was pretty good and if we go again we will consider it again.

The furniture and rug can be upgraded but that to us was not very significant for this trip but If the owners pay attention to it then it would be excellent.
The view from our room was of the sea lovely indeed but the view Straight down was of a bunch of rooftops and some shabby looking. ( if that matters to anyone)
Nuri and Omer at the front desk were very respectful and helpful.
Kept out bags for the day after the check in also till our flight time later in the afternoon.
Transportation was also provided with reasonable rates upon request.

Our family with kids had a wonderful stay at Ferman Hotel. We loved the rooftop restaurant with exquisite 360 views of the city & daily breakfast buffet. Our room also had a nice water view. The staff were all welcoming and helpful. The hotel was walking distance to many landmarks including Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, Grand Bazaar, Basilica Cistern, etc. Also walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Even though our room had an old-fashioned feel, it was very clean and overall matched the “old city” feel. The staff were helpful in arranging airport transport & accessible to answer questions & provide support via WhatsApp. We would recommend & stay here again!

I spent 5 nights at Ferman hotel with my mom and sisters. I couldn't say enough of how wonderful & helpful the staff were. My family arrived at the hotel very early in the morning, few hours before me. Although it wasn't the check-in time, the staff accommodated them, let them in the room , and invited them to have breakfast. The hotel was very clean & close to major attractions and accessible to metro. I wanted to send a special thank you to Utkan, Halil, and Selcuk for all their kindness and assistance. You made our stay very special. I strongly recommend Ferman hotel if you want to have a home away from home in Istanbul and feel well respected & taken care of. Thank you!!

Firstly my overall appreciation is very good.
This hotel is in very good condition despite you are in the old city part. Very clean and safe. The staff is welcoming and smiling. Breakfast as limited choice but it is good (drink at breakfast are not good).
Thanks to Expedia VIP hotel, I was upgraded in sea view room. Price is very good for what you obtained. Main sites to visit are at 5 min walk and tramway at 8 min walk. I definitely recommand it if you decide to stay in this area.

Con points: this touristic area is too expensive for restaurant and shopping. Very not interested to eat or shop.
Transfer for the airport: I took the one proposed by the hotel for 40 euros because we arrived very late and wanted a safe and easy transfer. When you arrive, you have to find by yourself the meeting point outside the airport and wait for an available car. After 30 minutes waiting in the cold night, we just grabbed a regular taxi and pay it half the price asked by the hotel...
PCR test: We have asked for it at the hotel, it was proposed at "for you 200 TL instead 250 TL..." It is at 150 to 175 TL everywhere else in this area. We just walk away to make the test in another place.

In conclusion very good and well maintained hotel, at a very good price for this area. Perfectly localised if you stay 2 or 3 nights only. Not competitive for side services.

Honestly 10/10 !! The workers were so welcoming and friendly. This hotel genuinely made our trip so special.

It was so clean, the rooms are exactly like the photos shown. The hotel provides you with everything you need from an adapter to a scale to print outs of boarding passes.

The main thing my family loved was the people working there. They truly assisted us to their best ability and made us feel as comfortable as we possibly can. They were talkative and understanding as well as respectful.

Absolutely amazed by ferman hotels views and delicious breakfast on terrace.

The location of this property was perfect. It was close to Sulieman Square, where three of the most visited sites in Istanbul are located. It was also within walking distance to public transportation and only a short distance to the Galata Bridge. Breakfast was beyond amazing with a view that is exceptional! Yusuf, at the reception, was outstanding! He drew routes on the map, explained the transportation system, suggested restaurants,...we were truly ready for a grand visit after our help from Yusuf. Excellent hotel and location. Very nice and warm people including Reception and kitchen staff. Breakfast was excellent and served on top of the hotel – beautiful view.

The Hotel itself was fine, no issues. All the items worked well except that in one of the rooms I paid for (I had 2 rooms), the air con wouldn't change temperature (either on 18c or nothing). Otherwise was great. The service from Yusuf and the young men working there was exemplary. They really went out of their way to make me ans my family feel welcome. The cleaning staff and breakfast staff were also amazing. Treated like family

2 days in Instanbul!

Amazing spread of breakfast buffet on the terrace overlooking the water was the best part of our stay! Great location in the old city. Enjoy the view of the blue mosque in the sunset as you lounge in the rooftop tearrace after a busy day of sightseeing.

Bring your own wall charger (for American electronics) if you have a need to stay connected online. We had to buy one when we got there and left it at the hotel so others (unprepared like us) can use it. Staff are really friendly and responsive! Recommend it surely.

A Week in Istanbul

I stayed in Istanbul for several nights - first with a few friends, and then with my partner. I decided to remain at Ferman Hotel for convenience and was very happy with my decision. I've visited Istanbul before and have stayed in other parts of Sultanahmet, but this was my favorite. A much quieter section, yet easy walking distance to the main sites and with great restaurants and a smaller bazaar nearby (well-priced and shopkeepers that were more personable than the Grand Bazaar).

My first room was a street-side room which was just as quiet as my second room (sea-view) when my partner arrived. The hotel doesn't strike me as catering to large groups - it was peaceful the entire time. The rooms were spacious - as were the bathrooms - and kept clean and well stocked. The rooftop patio is lovely with incredible views - and guests are free to access it outside of breakfast hours, making it a great place to have a cup of tea and relax. The hotel shows the slightest sign of wear and tear, to be expected after lower numbers of tourists in recent years. The breakfast buffet has a nice variety, and the coffee and tea options in the hotel lobby and on the patio were an added bonus.

The staff are amazing. They provided repeated assistance - calling taxis and translating destinations, taking care of laundry for incredibly reasonable prices, and were available for great recommendations, reviewing the map, assisting with luggage, and so much more. I'd happily stay here again!

We arrived at approx. 2am in the morning and were welcomed in. We were told that two of our rooms had been upgraded- free of charge! I have previously been to hotels where upon arriving you can be bombarded with information about cruists/tours/excursions etc. however we did not have this to deal with.

The staff were extremely helpful offering us assistance everytime we required it. One of the things that we were initially worried was about was that we had a wheelchair user. All these worries were removed as the staff helped bring the wheelchair in/out of the hotel and also safeuly stored the wheelchair each time we went to our room. The lift was also working on each day and this helped the wheelchair user have an excelled time.

The breakfast staff were also awesome- on one ocassion they made us a breakfast item not included in the original buffet offered. They were always similing and it was a joy to wake up and be around them. Notable mentions of such staff included Omar (who was lovely with the wheelchair user), Serluk and Kader.

Overall the place was amazing to stay at. Service was top notch and rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh bedding. The hotel staff will go above and beyond to ensure that you have the best stay possible in Istanbul- i'd definitely recommend.

Just to add- the hotel is amazingly close to the centre. On the terrace you can see both the view of Sultan Ahmet/Aya Sofia and the Istanbul waters. Getting to the mosque takes no more than 5 minutes.

Building and decor is very nice, room is good size, big bed. Only few complaints, this is not because I love to complain but but to help hotel make some improvements , 1 is hot water in shower keeps going cold and you need to wait for it to go hot again after minute or two. Not nice as we all know.
Door in room to patio area is not airtight, we went and weather was cold so cold air comes through the edges of door and sounds also from outside comes in room.
Finally the room door is terrible, no sound insulation, you can hear everything going on outside, they have coffee machine in lobby you can hear everytime someone uses it. Also on final night there was a loud group of guests checking in after 11pm, so loud for around 15 minutes and I wish reception told them to quieten down as it woke us up. So if it is late can you please tell loud guests to keep noise down. Overall we had a good stay. Breakfast was great, staff are very polite and housekeeping do good job. Overall due to few issues will give 3.5 stars out of 5.
