Good stay/poor tour guide

Comfortable stay, friendly staff, and central location. Other than a poor recommendation by hotel staff for a local guide our stay was uneventful. After our poor experience with the tour guide, I asked the hotel not to recommend Gulliver Tours - Ms. Emil Sucu tour guide. It was a total waste of time and we got nothing for our money.

Overall, the review score is a fair reflection of the hotel. Every hotel in Sultan Ahmet or Fatih in general gets good score for location, but this one really has a great location, just 2 minutes walk from the Sultan Ahmet mosque and yet reasonably quite. There are many good restaurants and grocery stores around. Hotel condition is great, staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is plentiful. I would recommend. By the way, I canceled a reservation at a Laleli Hotel to get a room at a next door hotel here, because Laleli-Aksaray neighborhoods have deteriorated significantly since we visited last time 6 years ago. We did not feel safe walking around outside of in Aksaray hotel. Extremely crowded, mostly with people fall on hard luck trying to escape to Europe. Sultan Ahmet is also crowded, more than usual, but feel safer since the crowd are mostly tourists or the locals working in the area. Keep this in mind when you make reservations.

I have been staying at this hotel for more than 10 years, Again and Again, i definitely recommend it.

Despite that it is not luxurious, but when you stay there you feel like home. The staff are so kind and helpful, Rooms are very clean, and prices are so fair.

What distinguishes this hotel, his location which is almost 1 minute away from Sultanahmet square, where you can find all the sightseeings (Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, TopCapi Palace,...). Also the tramway station is 2 minutes away.
Nearby restaurants and shops for all your needs.

I will be coming back anytime i visit Istanbul.

The location of the hotel is perfect,all the tourist attractions are just 10 minutes walking,blue mosque and Ayasophiya are just around the corner plenty of restaurants around and is in the heart of Sultanahmet area.sultanahmet tram station is just 12 minutes walk you can go to Eminoun where you can take ferries to Bosphorous or Asian side of Istanbul.

Cosy hotel with good location

We vidited Istanbul in late October and were staying at Hotel Novano. Location of the hotel is just great - it is in the Sultanahmet area and everything is in walking distance or if you need to get tram or bus, there are tram and bus stops. Also there is a good choice of cafes around, you can easily walk to waterfront to have freshly cooked fish in cafes around. As for the hotel itself, it is very clean, cosy and comfortable. We found it a good deal for its price. Managers at the reception are really helpful, e.g. we needed some more time to pack all our staff and asked if it was possible to check out later (we were ready to pay some extra money for this), but manager said we could check out later and it would be free. Breakfast was also good and there is a relatively good choice for breakfast menu. When we get to our room tired after all day tourings around Istanbul, we felt really relaxed and comfortable in our room.

Do yourself a favour and stay at this hotel!!

I have just returned from a trip to Turkey and whilst in Istanbul I stayed at Hotel Novano (twice!). What a great find! This hotel is so close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace even I was surprised. The hotel itself is impeccably clean (all the time!) and always smells nice and fresh. The manager, Kenan was always helpful and went out of his way to ensure our stay was comfortable and hassle free. The breakfasts are delicious too and nothing was too much trouble. In terms of price, trust me you will not find better (well you might but I am sure it will be a different standard).

Perfect location, great hosts!

We were made to feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Situated in the perfect location for sightseeing the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace which were all just a short walk away. The room had comfortable twin beds and efficient air conditioning. It was also very quiet with a double door to our room. As 2 ladies walking around the area, no matter what time of day, we always felt comfortable and safe.

As a woman travelling solo, this small, friendly hotel made me feel very welcome and safe. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The location is ideal, close to all of the important sites, and is in a lovely street with many restaurants close at hand. The breakfast was excellent. Rooms were clean and provided everything needed. They were also well insulated against outside noise. Excellent value for money.

Loved this place! Close to everything. Did not mind the room size, that's expected with boutique hotels. We had a back room and actually enjoyed the peace since we are living in a noisy city. We spent little time in the room so once again the back room was perfect. Breakfast was really good as well, plus you can request egg specials. Lastly, we were on the 3rd floor and had help with our luggage.

I am not sure whether it was Expedia or Hotel Novano that messed up my reservation for a room with two twin beds. When I arrived I was given a choice of a small room with full bed on the first floor or fourth floor. The idea of lugging my two suitcases up the stairs (no elevator) convinced me to choose the first floor. I was very tired and fell asleep as soon as I checked into he room. When I woke up I realized I didn't have the right room. I talked to the gentleman at the front desk but he couldn't give me a room with two twin beds. I wrote to Expedia complaining about the reservation and showed it to the clerk the next morning. He finally moved me to the room I wanted. .

Perfect for a stop-over in Istanbul!

Stayed just one night on our way out of Istanbul - simple, no frills hotel, but clean, reasonably priced and comfortable (the rooms are on the smaller side, so don't expect typical American sized rooms!), and located within walking distance of AyaSofya and Blue Mosque! Perfect if you're looking for a good, clean place to stay while exploring Istanbul.

Perfect Hotel , Great Location, It's my Favorite

An hotel doesn't need to be 5 stars to be Perfect.
I have been to this hotel many times and every time this hotel surprise me by its improvements.
It is my favorite and i would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Istanbul.
Let's start by the hotel itself:
- The staff are great , kind and helpful.
- Rooms are very well designed and so clean.
- The breakfast buffet is amazing.
- The location is the best : near tramway , near attractions such as (agia sofia, blue mosque, topkapi palace, grand bazaar and much more)

This hotel has a superb location. In the centre of Sultanahmed area, its 5 minutes walk from the blue Mosque, 7 minutes to Hagia Sophia, 12 minutes to Topkapi Palace , the tram is nearby, so is the Hipodrome, lots of restaurants and souvenir shops, including carpet stores. The back wall is part of the Bizantine Wall and the Marmara Sea is a few minutes away. The hotel itself is fantastic, the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are cleaned every day. The bathroom is roomy. The bedroom is a bit on the small side, bed was comfortable and had a tiny balcony that overlooked the courtyard. Breakfast was fine, you could ask for other food and the kitchen staff was happy to obligue. Beverages and snacks are available during the day, served in the courtyard or the street side. Definetly would return.

Pleasant hotel brilliantly situated

We wanted to explore Sultanahmet having called in on Istanbul during a cruise a few years ago. We chose this hotel because it was very centrally situated for site seeing. The hotel is boutique style, and very comfortable. The staff are focused, efficient and very helpful. Breakfast was pretty good with freshly made pancakes, and omlettes as well as the normal Turkish style breakfast. We will definitely return to this hotel, in fact we are planning another trip next year when we intend to take some other family members with us.

A fine small hotel in the midst of everything

You can't beat Hotel Novano for its proximity to all the sights in Sultanahmet, its excellent service and comfortable, quiet rooms. Accomodations are a bit cramped but nice. Ask for a room facing the back for
a quiet stay. The hotel has the names of some private
guides if you don't want a large tour. A bit pricey
but worth it.

A night in one of the oldest cities in the world!

I chose Hotel Novano based on the reviews both on Expedia and other travel sites. This nice boutique hotel did not disappoint. Location was fantastic, minutes away from all of the big tourist sites (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia etc). I had no problems finding the hotel, and it stood out. Staff was friendly and prompt, rooms were exactly as pictured. Very clean, and adorably small :-)
Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. It added to the experience of my quick trip through Istanbul.

Wonderful location with good breakfast buffet and clean rooms. Only downside was a ventilation chamber in the bathroom which allowed sound from nearby rooms to project right into our unit. A person speaking in a normal-low voice and could be heard way too easily!

Ideal location for all the main sites of the city

Very helpful staff and made us very welcome despite arriving at 4.00 am in the morning! Room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was at a reasonable time in the morning 8.00 -10.00 and you did not feel rushed. One down side was that there was no bar or evening facilities so taking a drink and sitting outside watching the world go by in the meant buying your own drink from a shop nearby and sitting at table. No great hassle. Most of the staff speak English and the hotel owner is very charming. The hotel is very quiet despite where it is located , about 10 minutes from the blue mosque and the morning prayers! It is well located easy to find if you stray away from the centre. Just head for the blue mosque and you will find your way back to the hotel.

Average hotel, but good for the price and location

Novano Hotel is a good, small hotel located in the very center of Sultanahmed. I've traveled a lot to Istanbul, and can now compare different hotels, and this one is slightly better than most. It is clean, rooms are a bit larger than others (which means you have space to walk around the bed, nothing more) and it has good breakfast that includes omelets (not common in other hotels of this type in Istanbul). I asked the staff for recommendations for activities and restaurants, and their recommendations were not great so I wouldn't advise anyone to do this, but the staff were quite nice and at least tried to be helpful. Unlike many other hotels in Sultanahmed, I would stay here again. I would advice others to keep expectations low at this price range in Sultanahmed.

we absolutely loved our 3 night stay. mahir at the front was friendly and helpful. so was all the other staff, but we did not get their names. we loved the complimentary breakfast with coffee, although the coffee was weak, the food was good, so no complaints. they offer a shuttle to and from the airport also, 30 eu for the group one way. highly recommended over a taxi. the rooms are cozy but nice, with comfy beds and clean restrooms. location is good for tourism of old istanbul. would stay again.

Perfect location, friendly and comfortable

My wife and I had an excellent experience in Istanbul and Hotel Novano was one reason for that. Ali, Mahir, Cagatay and Turay and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was conveniently located near Aya Sofia, Sultanahmet, and the T-1 Line. Clean and quiet (other than the call to morning prayers!) and the breakfast was delicious—especially if you are a fan of fresh cheese. Definitely would stay again.

Hotel Novano provides a fantastic value for the price! The location is ideal - right next to the Blue Mosque - on a safe street, lined with restaurants and shops. Very convenient for the main sightseeing attractions and close to public transport if you want to venture out to other parts of the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. The room was on the smaller side but kept clean. Small boutique hotel but with much better value than any larger chain. Location is ideal for walking to see Topaki Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and other museums. Attractive from the street. Rooms are clean, bathrooms nice. Good AC and breakfast included. Staff very helpful. Beds were very firm so not my comfort preference. No deadbolts on door, but I felt very safe as a single female traveling alone.

GREAT stay in excellent hotel

We had 2 stays at Hotel Novano, once at the beginning of our Turkey trip and again, 2 weeks later, at the end. It is exceptionally clean, nicely furnished, and quiet, and within a block of numerous restaurants. The hotel was recently renovated and is in top shape. The breakfast is better than average with excellent selections. All staff are very friendly, housekeeping, reception, kitchen, etc. In particular, desk clerk Ziya was engaging, helpful in planning our time in Istanbul, and very personable. The flavor of the neighborhood, Sultanahmet, offers a nice slice of Turkish life and is also within walking distance of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. We would definitely stay there again and most certainly recommend it to others.

I have been in this hotel before and this was my second time and i really enjoyed my stay there.
Staff are very friendly and Helpfull - Buffet Breakfast was great with many choices - Rooms are good and clean.
The most i like in this hotel was the location. It is only 2 minutes far from the tram station which guide you to any where you want to go. The blue mosque , aya sofia , topkapi palace , and grand bazar are 2 to 5 minutes far.

Enver was so welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and staff attentive. The location is fabulous. A busy street with many restaurants,carpets,kilims,lights and atmosphere yet quiet inside. Very close to Arasta Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace. Can walk to the Grand Bazaar. We had a spacious \"attic\" room which was comfortable. We liked hearing the five calls to prayer each day. The hotel is scrupulously clean and cared for. The shuttle to the airport is 6 euros. There are lovely restaurants nearby, better value than main area.We dined a lot at Paladium, a restaurant with excellent food and a glass floor over Roman ruins. This hotel made our stay in Istanbul memorable.

This hotel was perfect for my needs -- located on a safe, busy street in the tourist area of town, minutes walk from the palace, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, transit, etc. The hotel is impeccably clean, breakfast awesome and staff really friendly and helpful. And the price was decent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Istanbul.

BEST location!!!

We stayed at Novano for 3 nights and loved it! Its conveniently located near Agia Sophia, Blue Mosque and good restaurants. Enver made us feel very comfortable, gave us excellent advices on what to see and where to go. Breakfast is good, room is a bit small but clean and quiet.

one not-so-good staff member

My room had small bedroom even for a small person like me, but the bathroom was nice and spacious. The hotel and the room were very clean and the towels were changed daily though my bed sheets were not changed for all 4-night/day stay (however it did not bother me).

The hotel manager Enver was great and helpful, and the cleaning and breakfast staff were super nice and friendly as well, but one of the younger reception staff was not so kind: he told me that taxi to IST airport was way more expensive than the private transfer hotel could arrange (he charged me 45TL, but the taxi fare was 40 TL based on Enver. 5TL was nothing but I did not like the fact that he lied); and he also said that I needed to pay a day ahead and that was the rule of all hotels. I did not appreciate those things he said and I especially did not appreciate when I confronted him in front of Enver, he completely denied them.

All in all, the hotel itself was nice, but that staff member made the hotel not so appealing.

Nossa experiência no Hotel Novano foi excelente do começo ao fim. O quarto é muito agradável, confortável e bem organizado, exatamente como esperado para descansar depois de um dia intenso explorando Istambul. A limpeza merece destaque: tudo sempre muito limpo e bem cuidado.

A recepção é outro ponto forte — equipe extremamente atenciosa, educada e sempre disposta a ajudar, o que faz toda a diferença durante a estadia.

O café da manhã é bom, com variedade suficiente para começar bem o dia.

E, sem dúvida, o grande diferencial é a localização: perfeita! Dá para fazer muita coisa a pé, perto dos principais pontos turísticos, restaurantes e transporte. Facilita demais a experiência na cidade.

Se eu voltar para Istambul, com certeza ficarei novamente no Hotel Novano. Recomendo sem pensar duas vezes.

Personeel zeer behulpzaam. Accommodatie is verouderd, verlichting in de kamer niet goed, vele lampen doen het niet. Badkamer verouderd, niet helemaal schoon te krijgen.
Geen lift.
Gordijnen sluiten de ramen niet goed waardoor ‘s morgens snel licht in de kamer.
TV geen Europese kanalen behalve 1 Italiaanse en 1 Duitse.
Ontbijt mag met meer en verschillende brood en minder zoetigheid.

Struttura semplice ma romantica.
Camere rilassanti con arredamento in legno chiaro, bagno con doccia grande. (però non c è il bidet).
La camera, il bagno e la sala della colazione sempre puliti.
Il ragazzo alla reception è bravissimo, cordiale, attento e presente. Anche le signore in cucina e alle pulizie sono sempre gentili.

La posizione Dell hotel è strategica, vicino alla fermata del tram e alla principali attrazioni si sultanahmet.

Noi per il trasferimento dall' aeroporto all'hotel abbiamo preso la navetta (abbiamo scritto una mail e ce l'ha prenotata direttamente il direttore dell' albergo)sia per l'andata che per il ritorno. In modo da essere sicuri di arrivare in tempo evitando i vari mezzi pubblici.

Dovessi ritornare a Istanbul, tornerei sicuramente al Novano.

L'albergo si trova nel cuore di Istanbul, a pochi passi dalla moschea blu. È una struttura perfetta per chi vuole esplorare la città a piedi. Lo staff è molto cordiale. La colazione era molto buona. Al pomeriggio a disposizione degli ospiti tè, caffè, pasticcini e frutta. Ci siamo sentiti veramente coccolati.

كانت جميلة الإقامة، لا يوجد مصعد في الفندق، لم يقوموا بترتيب الغرفة ثاني يوم صباحاً، إلا أن الفندق نظيف، وعامل الفندق مضياف ومتعاون، والفندق مرتب بشكل جميل، ومكانه جيد من حيث قربه من الأماكن الأثرية كمسجد السلطان أحمد وأيا صوفيا،وبالتالي قربه من محطة القطار، ومجاور لأرستا بازار والعديد من المطاعم والمقاهي.

Posizionato a 10' di distanza a piedi da Moschea Blu, Topkapi, Museo dei Mosaici, etc.
Silenzioso, pulito, colazione più che adeguata e varia, personale molto cortese e disponibile, wi-fi decente, in camera té e caffé a volonta, due gradite bottigliette d'acqua offerte tutti i giorni (l'acqua di Istanbul è puro cloro!).
Se tornassi a Istanbul soggiornerei probabilmente ancora qui.
Tenendo conto ovviamente del rapporto qualità/prezzo che ho riscontrato

Personale molto gentile e disponibile, colazione discreta, posizione molto centrale, ma nel complesso non può essere considerato un quattro stelle, piuttosto un buon tre stelle; avevamo la camera in mansarda al terzo piano senza ascensore, con un bagno molto piccolo.

Klein hotel met een goede ligging die net uit het drukke deel van Sultanahmet zit waardoor je nachtrust niet verstoord word.
Hotel heeft genoeg faciliteiten die echter voor rolstoelgangers minder geschikt is.

Hübsches Hotel in der nähe von Sultanahmet Moschee

Wir haben drei Nächte mit meiner Frau in diesem schönen Hotel übernachtet. Die Lage vom Hotel ist perfekt, 5-10 minuten entfernt von Hagia Sophia und alle mögliche transportmöglichkeiten. Sehr hilfreiche Personal und top Frühstück für den Preis. Dieses Hotel ist einfach toll und nur zu empfehlen. Nächstes Jahr werden wir wieder in diesem Hotel übernachten.
