- The corridors of the hotel felt old and have a lot of visible damage.

- the bathroom was clean, but the rest of the room felt old and there was the same kind of “oldness” that we saw in the corridors.

- the dryer was not super efficient. My friend put jeans and shirts. They were not near dry after a full 60 minutes cycle.

As soon as I checked in all 3 female staff were behind the desk while I struggled with the kiosk. The hallways leading to my room was dirty with stains on the wall. My room was non smoking but smoke leaked from a room mext to me. Using the TV was tricky, they WANT YOU TO PAY! BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUSH #2 TO START WATCHING FREE TV PROGRAMS. The area right outside the hotel is shady with solicitation of Massages. I definitely got what I payed for trying to be cheap in Osaka. The best thing about my room was probably that the restroom was nicer than the actual room itself.

Convenient place to stay in the north part of Osaka around Umeda and Osaka station. 10 to 15 min walk from station but bit complicated to find a hotel. Bit dodgy area but not seriously dangerous. Old hotel and nothing fancy but good enough to stay for few nights if you just need space to sleep.

Trip to Osaka- great stay🙂

They might we arrived we asked for an upgrade, which they happily did&the room was great. The staff were friendly - did their best to help. Google translate was a great help but we like that the reception area supplied free water/coffee, which was handy after a long day out. We really liked how there was souvenirs on the premises to buy, my husband looks his hat. Breakfast was lovely although would have like more variety. The hotel was easy to find, within walking distance of Osaka station, great selection of restaurants & loved the shops

The place was cheap, but that's about it. It was more money than staying was worth. The conditions of the room were horrible. There were what looked like urine stains on the walls, the walls were scratched up and dirty, and the holder for the shower head was broken. The walls were also paper thin, so I head both of my neighbors and every person just passing by outside. The toilet and shower were both cramped, and there were no brushes, toothpaste, or any other toiletries offered in the bathroom. The bed and pillow were also very uncomfortable, making it even harder to sleep through the outside noise. 3/10 for me, because the staff were accommodating and the AC worked well.

Walls are scratched, dirty, stained, and beat up. They're also paper thin. You can hear the person in the next room like they're right beside you. Construction in the area (that starts at 4-5am) and constantly yelling from people on the streets will likely keep you up all night. The bathroom had black mold growing in it and the wi-fi constantly disconnected and the speed wasn't even fast enough to load a YouTube video on the lowest setting without buffering. Overall, this wasn't even worth the low price they charged.

Fair value for money. Location is in red light district which is on me for not looking into. Room had a similar feel to that of a prison cell (windowless and sterile white) but staff were excellent and it is very central so going to the sights of Osaka was easy. All in all I got what I paid for which I’m pretty happy with.

We needed a hotel to stay for one night during our stay at Osaka. I didn't realise that it was in the middle of the red light district so it was quite awkward walking to our hotel in the evening after dinner. The hotel seemed nice from the lobby but the room had a little prison vibe. The breakfast buffet was good as well.

The room and general parts of the hotel are quite dated and run down. As the walls are quite thin, getting a decent night's sleep will depend on what other rooms on your floor book and if they play the TV at unreasonable hours of the morning.
The hotel was undergoing a renovation during my stay, so there is hope for improvements.

Excellent value for the money! It took a bit of work to find the place and it's not exactly located in the nicest of areas (lots of love hotels and pink bars nearby), but it is perfect for a good night's sleep and quite a bit more privacy than a capsule hotel or hostel. The reservation included a breakfast buffet, which was added value and decent enough. Worth every yen at under 5,000 yen per night. Above that, you may be just as good with a capsule and no breakfast buffet.

Not amazing, but adequate for what it was

Preface, I chose this place purely because it was walking distance to the JR station, for one night only then departing the next morning. For what it was (a bed and a shower) it was adequate but no more. For a few dollars more I could have had a proper room, so I would not visit again.

Location: surprisingly difficult to find.

Hotel is not air conditioned, only the rooms (sort of. The remote for the AC has about 35 buttons, in Japanese only and no intuitive ease of use. Several minutes of trial and error gave the five button sequence to turn on the AC). Weather was 36C 81% on this day.

Restaurant for breakfast was surprisingly good. Small but good variety of Japanese style items, with some very basic western choices like granola (no other cereal), buns, and some odd items like pickled mystery vegetables and green salad. I ate only the Japanese items, which were great. Self serve buffet.

Room was tiny but that was expected, single sink/shower combo gave instant hot water at good pressure.

All in all, adequate for what it was, a place to clean up and sleep after 18 hours of travelling.

Good Hotel in the city

The Hotel staff are impeccable. They are wonderfully welcoming and will help you out with a lot of different things if you are stuck. The rooms are small especially for someone of my stature (6ft 6/ 2m). The rooms had a few places that were a bit broken (for example some bits of wood seemed water damaged). The breakfast was good and is cheaper to buy it when you book as opposed to when you are there. The location is quite close to the main station in Osaka and also not far from lots of really nice restaurants. Lastly i would like to recommend this Hotel because the staff speak enough English to be able to help with most of the requests that I had. I would recommend this Hotel on the calibre of its staff alone.

Cheap hotel in out-of-the-way location

If you don't mind tiny rooms, with very basic facilities, at a cheap price, then this is alright. The area is a bit on the seedy side, with \"love hotels\" dotted around. The wifi is excellent, and whilst the rooms are non-smoking there is a smoking room in the lobby. It is within easy reach of the Umeda entertainment area and the shopping streets.

3rd stay at Hotel Kansai. Staff is great. Lobby is welcoming. Check-in/out, luggage storage, breakfast all very appropriate. Value for money. Room size is better expected in a big Japanese city. Bathroom bit small. Location is great. You have Higashi Umeda subway station 5 mins away. Umeda station, Osaka Station in walking 10-min distance. In Osaka, eating places are never a problem. Free WIFI, free bathhouse use, free breakfast. No complaint! However, it is located in the so-to-speak red light district. Something get remember.

Been to Japan 3 times, this was hands down the worst hotel I've stayed at. The local area is kind of dodgy with love hotels and whatnot. At first when you see the lobby, it may be understandable to think that it is a decent hotel, but go in and all the rooms have windows that look into stairwells and the rooms are rundown, it feels like a dungeon. I asked if I could change rooms, one said they well full, one said all the rooms are like that and most of the staff don't speak much English.

Good location, nice renovated foyer but rooms not

This hotel was in a good location as we travelled by Train and didn't want to walk too far, it was also on the right side of the station for Osaka Castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful and both the foyer and the restaurant were freshly renovated but the room was very small with basic furniture and no window and in serious need of renovation. It was good value for Osaka but I should have spent extra for a better room, at least with a window.

Yes, it is not the newest building however it is clean (no different to standard Japanese business hotel) and staff really helpful.

Very good value given central station locality. Good if arriving late into town in needing early train.

Dirty and terrible hotel

When I checked in, I was told that my booking was only paid for 2 adults while my reservation was clearly for a triple bedroom. Who would be stupid enough to book a triple room for 2 adults? Anyway, we ended up paying extra around 4,300 Yen just because we were already very tired to argue with the hotel.
The room was not as good as I expected. I mean, I knew from reading the other reviews that it's quite an old property, but this is quite terrible. The cleanliness was poor, the bathroom and toilet were so bad, and our window was facing the back of the hotel which is full of pipes and AC fans.
The receptionists were not so friendly, which surprised us the most because out of all properties that we stayed in Japan, they were always smiling and very polite to the guests.
I hate the location of the hotel, it's quite difficult to reach from Osaka JR Station if you do not know the way from the underground. If you take the walk on the street level, you ended up taking a longer route because there are some streets which you cannot cross over. However, finding the way in the underground was also very challenging, so we always got lost.
The hotel is located at the Pachinko and Slot's places neighborhood in Umeda area, so it's always very busy at night. We stayed there during the weekend, and saw a lot of drunk people on the street. If you like bars and play slot machines, maybe this is the best hotel for you to stay, but definitely not family friendly location.

So I saw that I can't post my room rate, but I will say that I paid a little over three figures total for three nights. I found it to be a very pleasant stay, especially for that price. This is Japan, so customer service was top notch, same as you'd expect to find anywhere else in the country. The one departure from other hotels is that they will not make up your room automatically unless you indicate it with the doorhanger, though I'm sure a quick call downstairs would have down the same. Also razors, toothbrushes and the like are down in the lobby instead of being refreshed in your room.

Since it's on the cheaper end, the actual hotel outside the lobby is more reminiscent of a military barracks than a Marriott. The room was fine, though one end of the bed was definitely a bit more worn in. The TV is about the size of a monitor, which wasn't an issue for me because I wasn't in Osaka to watch TV. Fridge worked fine, and thanks to Google Translate I was able to operate the AC unit.

As for the area, I've seen other reviews take issue with love hotels being in the area. Couples need a place to, well, couple. And I can't be positive but I'm pretty sure there was a guy outside offering some ladies for companionship, but again, this is not uncommon and as a tourist I wasn't offered. Neither of these things impacted the stay at the hotel.

In summation, if you need a budget hotel to lay your head at night, this place is more than acceptable.

The moment when we boil water or charge a phone, the light will dim, maybe due to the limitation of power supply. More of a business hotel but we found it adequate for a short stay as tourists. Short taxi ride or walk from Osaka station, about 30-40 min walk to the tourist hotspots, or subway close by. Good buffet breakfast (800yen if not included). Staff friendly and helpful, although as it is more of a business hotel their English was limited. Room small but comfortable and clean.

Good little hotel in the centre of Osaka. 10minutes walk to the train station, then a 10 minute train direct to universal studios.
Room was small, as are all Japanese rooms but it was comfortable. Great shower, free robes, and nice shampoo shower gel. Microwaves, vending machine and washing machine all down stairs. Only 1 problem was that no wifi in room, only in lobby. The speed was amazing though

Best reasonable rate for a good location close to the Osaka main Train station and malls. 10 min walk if you dont get lost. We met a very helpful Japanese couple who went out of their way to show us where our hotel is located, and they wallked with us. Best people in the world!

Four of us had a great stay in The Kansai. Location was good - a short walk to the Umeda/JR stations and food was available late into the night at very affordable prices just round the corner. Although the rooms were small they were clean and bedsheets were changed every morning. Reception staff spoke enough English to get by and there even a guy who can speak Cantonese as he's from Hong Kong!

Price is really reasonable so don't expect much...

The location is far away from the rail/underground station around around 15-20 mins walk even worst if you walk on the ground(remember M14 exit if walk underground). Not every room have WiFi and LAN. The room I lived was the biggest among three hotel I stayed this time, but seems like it was office function before(I guess so). The shower facilities are poor and the water supply is a bit uncontrollable. They don't use key card but the key so one key per room only and they expect you to return key when go out. Have to beware the surrounding neighborhood especially if you are girl as the surrounding business is a bit abnormal to tourism nature. There are coin laundry machine at the ground level.The service is not bad and there is one Cantonese speaker worked there.

That what we did anyway, as it is one stop away from the shin-Osaka(Shinkansen train line) . The neighborhood around the hotel is more quite though there is a 24 hr grocery store 2 blocks north which is nice. internet is spotty though.

Boom

Great location, but No Free WIFI

Nothing to complain about. Location, cleanliness. Hotel is good condition, but needs upgrade soon. No WIFI is definitely the reason that I won't stay again. Until they get free WIFI, sorry..... Internet cafe is 400 yen an hour....Think of that....neighborhood is low-end, for-sale ladies skin-trade industry....

Myself and two of my friends (one from nagoya, one from australia like me) stayed at business hotel kansai for 2 nights in June 2013. although it took us far too long to find the hotel because osaka station is crazy to navigate, afterwards finding the entrance/exit we needed was fairly okay. I wouldn't stay here if getting a Shinkansen (bullet train) because you have to transfer to osaka station and it is just far too complicated with luggage. if you want somewhere close and affordable to osaka station (use exit 14) and don't plan on going out at night, this is a good choice. the rooms are fairly clean and facilities in fine condition. the staff are friendly and helpful. but the location is pretty terrible other than being close to the station. we did not feel safe walking around at night, being 3 young women.

Clean room, quality amenities and modern toilet

Rooms are clean although not very big. Staffs are friendly and nice. Bathroom equipped with modern toilet and the bathroom amenities are quality products.

Fantastic service

I have no complain of this hotel, the room is very clean, the front desk staffs are very friendly and very helpful. Although most of them can't speak good English, they tried their best to help you. It is difficult to find a hotel with such economic price but provide a comfortable room. The only thing is the surrounding neighbourhood is not so nice as at night (but still very OK), there are two or three call girls waiting for costumers at the street. However, they do not \"disturb\" you (for man walking alone like me) if you reject them. Of course, if you do not have Japanese look, they do not approach you at all. It is 5 minutes walking distance to M16 subway entrance, It near Osaka JR and Umeda subway stations, there are restorants, shops, shopping complex nearby. Every night i walk from subway exit/ subway station to the hotel, it is very safe. I strongly recommend this hotel to travelers ( family, group or alone) who prefer walking and taking subway for sight seeing at Osaka..

I needed a quick overnight in osaka and this hotel was great. Near the metro, cheap and clean. It's not the newest but the rooms are clean, and they at least have wifi in the lobby.
