This hotel has no air conditioning, only way to cool the room is to have the sliding patio door open. One of our rooms that door would not open either, very warm room. Hotel has a strange layout, possibly a converted condo.

Entire hotel was very strange, looked to be converted condos. No AC available, one of our rooms the patio door was locked with do not use signs; so no way to get cool air. What hotel only has sliding doors for cooling that can not be secured for overnight in an high population area. Ice machine did not work. At breakfast the juice/water dispenser was out of order.

Great place to stay if you’re visiting Carmel or Monterey. There was sufficient parking and the rooms were quite nice. However, I was disappointed with the breakfast. There was no hot coffee or any juices.

The room we was not the room I picked out upon booking. The pictures showed a very clean suite. The room we got was an oversized studio with full kitchen. Bathroom light on outside of bathroom , stains were on all chairs and couch and the carpet was coming apart. The staff was friendly and moved us to another room per our request. New room was smaller than what we paid for but the bathroom was updated and clean. Chairs still had stains but carpet a little better shape. The breakfast had a broken juice dispenser and yogurt machine out of order. Property was very close to beach and tide pools so great location. I wanted to mention that the property looks to be renovating a couple rooms so maybe in the future, the rooms will be clean and updated.

The king with balcony was huge and very quiet. Bed was comfortable and everything worked fine. The property is well located with easy proximity to Asilomar Beach and not far from restaurants and shopping.

On the need for improvement the heating system is very loud and the breakfast is not great. Adding a few more healthy choices would be great - plain yogurt, whole grain items, alternate milks and better coffee.

Great location, lots of space but it is very rundown. We have stayed at this hotel several times and have been happy but this time we were disappointed. Shower was clogged. Soap was empty and there were ants in the room. Mold on the walls and curtains and spider webs everywhere. Staff was great and moved us to another room but overall this place needs a major remodel. It’s sad. It used to be such a great place to stay.

I do a lot of traveling -- this was the worst hotel stay I've experienced in years. The rooms are very dated and worn. The furniture was all in need of replacement -- barren patches and stains. The plumbing was terrible. For example, the bathroom sink faucet barely produced a dribble of water. The dining room for the included breakfast was way too small, no place to sit. Long line of people wanting to make waffles. Other food options were cheap cereal and muffins. We gave up -- grabbed a few muffins and left.

When we first arrived, the hotel staff outside of our room were yelling to/at each other. Very pleasant -- not! At checkin, the desk staff should have already had our contact information through hotels.com. Nevertheless, they shoved a paper form in front of me asking to fill everything in.

When we checked out, the desk staff was having some kind of disagreement with a patron. I waited for a while then finally dropped by room card on the desk, told him my room number and walked out.

On the positive, there was plenty of parking and the property is close to Asilomar. Everything else was a bummer. Avoid this place if you can.

The Best Western in Pacific Grove is a delightful, beautiful place. Our room had a fireplace, kitchen, garden and deck just outside of the kitchen. We drive an electric car and appreciate the electric car chargers on the property. My one request is that they install more chargers. The Inn is just a short distance away from the Asilomar Conference Grounds and Asilomar State Beach.

The room was very spacious and included a kitchen, which was exactly what we were looking for. The bed was very comfortable, and the fireplace was a nice feature, especially since a storm came in and the weather was cooler. The windows and patio faced residential homes, and the area was very quiet, which we appreciated.

There were some operational and maintenance issues. The televisions were difficult to use, as the channels could not be changed easily. The manager on duty replaced a missing infrared device, which helped with turning the TVs on and off, but we still had to stand directly in front of the box to change channels. We were told this was “a Best Western problem,” which did not feel very helpful from a guest perspective.

The room itself is dated, and the carpets and couch would benefit from steam cleaning. We also found visible trash behind the dresser holding the TV, which gave the impression that housekeeping was not being very thorough. The light switches were in odd locations, and the shower handle was extremely difficult to turn on and off. This was reported to management.

Overall, we liked the size, quiet location, kitchen, comfortable bed, and fireplace, but the room would benefit from better maintenance, deeper cleaning, and improved TV functionality.

Wilderness cabin environment feel to the hotel. This hotel divides condos into separate spacious rooms with king beds, large bathrooms, walk-in closet with a small frig and coffee makers. The beds and linen was soft, warm and comfortable. The area was quiet and relaxing as if place in the middle of a forest. Enough FREE parking for each guest. I will return! Breakfast was good. There’s fresh waffles, cereal, yogurt, juices, coffee, fruit, boiled eggs, beds to toast, and other delicious choices to choose from.

Room was okay--slightly run down, but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast could definitely be improved. One of the staff talked down to me at check-in, but the other was very nice at check-out (though she'd clearly been having a loud and contentious argument with another staff member in the back room as I walked into the office). We've stayed at this hotel probably a dozen times over the years, but I'm not sure we'll be returning.

We arrived to the property at 3:15 for check-in and walked into the office to see a sign saying they will be right back. Waited a few minutes before flagging down housekeeping to come to find out that office staff left the premises during check-in hours. We waited for them to return, and that took 45 min. When the man arrived he offered no explanation so myself and the other guests waiting questioned why we had to wait. The male staff gaslighted his guests saying that we where late and he had to leave. He was very condescending, not apologetic or had any customers service etiquette. The male staff treated the next guest checking in even worse questioning him and not holding himself accountable for the bad service. When we finally received our room, we walked into an unlocked open room, dirty and not ready. This added to the frustration and we had to go back to the front desk. The male staff still remained unbothered and without wanting to make things right. This added another 30 minutes to our check-in. The male staff’s attitude and bad demeanor made us not feel safe staying with our children. We asked for an early checkout the next day and a refund to which a different staff member verbally agreed to, but then the property declined the refund through Expedia. We will never book thru Best Western Inn and never recommend the Inn & Suites in Pacific Grove.

So this property is unusual. My guess is that it used to be a condo or apartment complex and was turned into a hotel. Rooms are set up unusual, but still okay.

Our problem we had was we couldn’t get the heating to work. However after a couple calls to the office, they came and checked it out, to no avail, but they did bring an oscillating heater and blanket to us, which made it comfortable for the night. So we did appreciate that.

Breakfast was pretty limited: yogurt, cold cereal, apples, bread, and waffles. Juice and coffee, but at least something was available.

It’s the perfect getaway near beautiful spots in Pacific Grove. The location is ideal since it’s between Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea where endless sceneries of nature and water will make your stay more memorable and relaxing. Not to mention, the 17 Mile Drive is just minutes away, as well as the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary and a historic lighthouse located nearby. It’s truly a highly recommended place.

I chose this place as my partner and I wanted peace and quiet away from the main areas of Monterey, and it was absolutely perfect! Enormous and very clean room, comfy bed, spacious bathroom and area with microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. The balcony was very nice to have as well. We could only stay one night but this is definitely on our agenda for a longer stay next time.

This is an unusual hotel - not what expected. This hotel appears to be a 70’s vintage former Condominium Everything looks old. Every unit has a kitchen, small dining area, small living room and bedroom on a strangely laid out split level; even a few garage spaces- some with Tesla chargers. Very poor room lighting - some LED lights were blinking. The overhead light in bedroom was missing the globe - so bare light bulbs. Hotel is across street from Asilomar conference center - it’s old too. Daily breakfasts are typical and adequate with no variance from day to day. Other nearby hotel are less cost per night. I likely wont stay here again.

We have stayed here twice and had very good experiences. No issues with check-in and the room is clean. The property is older and could probably use some cosmetic upgrades, but has been maintained and it didn't detract from our stay. The rooms themselves must be well insulated because we didn't have any issues with outside or hallway noise. Our favorite feature is the adjoining rooms, which is perfect for my family of 4 with the kids both under the age of 5. This setup allowed the kids to take naps and the adults could be in the other room or sit on the balcony without disturbing them.

The continental breakfast is standard: cereal, waffles, pastries, and fruit. It is about a 5 minute drive to the aquarium and beach access is even closer, though not quite walkable.

It can be classified as \"shabby chic\" as my girlfriend put it, but frankly I didn't want to leave. We had the suite that has the kitchen, large deck, fireplace-- I know I could have stayed longer. Really the only thing missing it was dish towels and a dish rack to make cleaning our dishes easier. I'm not even sure people realize that there were actually utensils available. It made it very easy to not just stay here but make it feel a little bit more homey.
