The location was nice and the room was clean and spacious. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the mosquitoes. They were somehow getting in, probably through the ventilation system. The first morning, after contacting the front desk, they brought a plug-in vaporizer that took care of the problem. Unfortunately, we were already covered with bites. Not pleasant!

Great location and super friendly, helpful staff. Nice size rooms. The high ceilings make it hard to cool down on a hot day. Also the restaurant across the way is busy till late. It’s a little loud after 10. But overall highly recommend.

My partner and I enjoyed our stay here. It was as we expected for a 3 star hotel. Relatively clean and great location. A lot of communication back and forth needed with the host before our stay because of keyless check in. Very spotty wifi, I had to rely on my prepaid data plan most of the time. Slippers, tea and water were provided to us in the room as a nice touch. We would stay here again.

Great location between s marks and rialto at a good rate. Room was nice but lack of hot water was frustrating. The 1st floor is up one flight of stairs, opening to the entry of the hotel. The entry smelled old and moldy, think it was the carpet in the middle of the room. Once past that no smell in the room and all was fine.

Room was spacious and clean. Nice view of the street and surrounding restaurants. Bathroom was clean. Air conditioner worked very well over two extremely hot nights. Met two women who worked there and both were extremely pleasant and spoke perfect English. Fantastic location. Could not more highly recommend.

Chose this place primarily for price. Was not
looking for anything extravagant as we just needed a safe place to sleep, we travelled for 25 hours and only had one full day here.

It was decent, good location and restaurants around.

No front desk. We arrived at 7pm and you ring a bell and she lets you in by remote. Easy enough. She left us notes about our key in the door and that she reserved us spots/tickets for Redentore.

I came to Venice 20 years ago and don’t think that mosquitos were a problem then. We all
got bitten multiple times and probably killed about 40 mosquitos. Yes, Venice has mosquitos because of the canals but I felt the property didn’t do enough to combat. No notes warning the guests, she just leaves bug spray behind her table which we didn’t know about until the next day. We finally figured out they were coming thru the bottom of the door and urinal! If you stay here roll a towel at bottom of door and plug the urinal when not using.

I wish I could have left a better review.

Fantastic Value

If you're planning on spending all day walking around Venice and only plan on sleeping in the hotel, this place is perfect. Clean, fully functional, and very charming. The hotel is centrally located close to Rialto, St. Mark's Square, and Ponte dell'Accademia. Easy 5 minute walk from the San Angelo Alilaguna stop.

The staff were pleasant and very helpful. They suggested the most convenient and budget ways to reach the hotel and make it to our flight on the way back.

Apart from that, there was not much to highlight. The air conditioning did not work at night for some reason. So both nights, we had to keep the windows open -- which meant a lot of noise and mosquitos and a terrible nights sleep.

There was no one at the front desk to ask about this problem, no one would pick up the phone either; neither were we compensated for the inconvenience. We returned home extremely tired after our 2 nights here.

The worst. The room was cramped. Even though I had paid in advance for 3 non-refundable nights in this place, I was told on the third day that I would have to pay double for that day, or leave with no refund for that day. Manager is unethical. Inexplicably, Hotels.com did NOT back me up. We left and found a much better room for less than this place was trying to overcharge us. When I complained to the manager, I was physically threatened by an \"associate\" of this converted house. Not recommended. Worst experience from an otherwise delightful 30 day European vacation.

A fantastic stay at Casa alla Fenice. Lovely, atmospheric and quite part of SAN Marco. Excellent Bar Brasilia at end of Rio Assisini and beautiful Campo St Angelo. Wonderful day with Diego on his boat zooming over lagoon to Lido and Murano. Thanks For a brilliant stay and memories!

Quaint authentic Venetian hotel

Quaint authentic Venetian hotel but like many places in Venice it was a little hard to find. Great location and staff! Things you should know; you will have to climb a long uneven flight of stairs to get there and make sure you get the AC remote the first night they forgot to give it to us and the room got pretty hot.

An ok place for one person.

This property is more of a bed-and--breakfast than a hotel. It is centrally located, and only a short walk from the St.Angelo vaporetto stop.
The room was nice:definitely lots of character, with a beautiful Murano (?) chandelier and wall paintings. The room was clean but the bed was quite small for the two of us. It is smaller than full size but bigger than a twin size. It really is a bed for 1 person.
The downside: do NOT arrive late at night because it is really hard to find this place. We were close to despair after walking maze-like streets for some twenty minutes at midnight, knowing that we were circling 180-foot radius. The is no sign for this property except for a tiny metal plaque that you can't see unless you know it's there. There is definitely a need for some sort of sign. We asked many locals who had never heard of the place because it is so obscure. There is a small restaurant directly across from Casa, and even people working there didn't know about it! Luckily for us, one of the chefs knew we were standing in front of it.
Another issue is the smell in the room. I don't think it's anything in control of the owners, but there is a very unpleasant odor in the room most likely stemming from steaming pipes in the basement. The room was cold or too hot when heat came on.
We didn't order breakfast. It came for an additional fee of 5 euros, and included coffee, juice and croissant. We chose to eat at a nearby cafe by the theater, which I would highly recommend.

Compact room in a jewel of a building. Hostess Elisabetta has an eye for detail and a genuine concern for guest comfort, including breakfast brought to your room. LA Fenice is close to a variety of restaurants, shops, museums and other treasures of Venice

Casa Alla Fenice

We stayed 3 nights at Casa Alla Fenice which was a quirky little hotel in Venice. It was relatively easy to find, we walked from the train station with our backpacks in about 20 minutes. The first time seemed longer as we had to find our way through the maze of streets and bridges but once we got our bearings we were able to navigate relatively easily. The hotel has quaintly decorated rooms which are showing their age and wear but are clean and comfortable if a bit small. The bathroom was clean but the shower was quite small. There was some noise from the street and adjacent rooms but it was not bothersome for us. The air conditioning worked well. A good breakfast was delivered to our room daily - coffee, juice, various breads and packaged biscuits/sweets. The room had a small refrigerator and a floor safe but we did not use it. The WiFi and number of outlets for charging devices were adequate. A couple of things to note, there are relatively dark stairs to the rooms and the office is not occupied 24 hours and could be an issue is there are problems. Our hostesses were cheerful and helpful at all times with very good English and made sure all was well during our stay including printing boarding passes. It was good value for the money and I would recommend it to others.

The location is great and quiet. The room was a bit small, but was fine for two people. The two women who run the hotel are absolutely lovely and gave us great recommendations for where to eat, where to go, what to see, etc. Check-in and check-out were easy and the room was cleaned well each day. Breakfast was delivered to the room each morning. Because of city rules, they could only turn on the AC during specific hours, which was a bit tough since it was very hot while we were there, but was out of their control. Overall, a good stay at a quaint place. I recommend and would stay here again.

Lovely little hotel/B&B in a good location in Venice. Make sure you look at the directions on the website on how to get there. Great host and a cute little room except the double bed was very small and was uncomfortable for 2 people. Definitely not a North American size double. If you're larger than normal it won't work. The bathroom is nicely renovated. Breakfast served in the room... was a bit on the light side with toast and a croissant plus packaged baked goods. But it's enough to get you going. Only complaints would be the bed and the breakfast and the price was a bit steep. The restaurant across the street was a bit noisy at night but not a huge deal. Was maybe a bit expensive for what you got... but that's what it costs to stay in that area.

Overpriced for what you get

The room has potential to be nice but needs to be better maintained. For example, there was a section of cracked tiles on the floor which were just covered up with a mat - you could feel the tiles crunching as you walked over them. The room was so hot & we 'weren't allowed' to use the air conditioner as it wasn't the hot season - air conditioning was an essential for us when we were booking our accommodation, so had we known this we definitely wouldn't have booked this place. Even though the tax said it was only 1 euro per person per night on our documentation we were charged double - I even showed Elisabetta the print out I had that stated the price of the tax but we still had to pay double! The safe wasn't bolted down to anything & could have easily been taken out of the room. We travelled all around Italy for a month & compared to the other places we stayed at this was the worst accommodation. We wouldn't recommend staying here - it's definitely not worth the money you pay.

This is not a hotel...

We were quite disappointed with Hotels.com as this booking was made because the accommodations were advertised as a hotel, not a bed and breakfast. With barely any amenities (no staff to speak of, no shampoo and forget conditioner), our room literally stank of mildew. Granted the building was very old and the decor was actually kind of quaint in a Venetian sort of way, it still smelled so horrible when we walked into the room each time that we almost gagged. Further, the owner greeted us upon arrival and was never seen again. Luckily, the assistant, Julianna, was extremely kind and helpful. She offered to call a porter to help us with our bags, but for 30 euros, we decided to carry them ourselves (very long, uneven walk to the Water Bus ....) This place definitely was not worth the price (or the smell).

Lille, privatejet hotel midt i den gamle bydel - 10 min fra Rialto Broen, 6-7 min fra Markuspladsen. - stille og roligt sted, 30 meter fra et fremragende bageri/café...
Ingen luksus, lille værelse med fint badeværelse...
Og heller ikke (for)dyrt... kan anbefales.
