The food was awful. Many of the breakfast items at the buffet were cold. The coffee was warm or cold if you didn’t get there when the pots were freshly put out. The food at the two restaurants were below average and they were both a true disappointment especially for the cost. I expect to pay more for food at a resort, but it should be tasty.

Food was expensive, kids only eat for free if you dine in-but the restaurants (only two options) were booked out for in house dining and the buffet was terrible (my 8 year old could cook better)

Room was good but there is nothing to do after 7pm. Pool closes and no night entertainment. We are on holidays and don’t want to be bored In Our room the tonic bar is open but no live music or any music for that matter. No vibe in the place. The pool is filthy and not cleaned and all pool bars and pool toilets on both sides are dirty and could do with a hose down before they open.

Absolutely nothing like the pics online. Resort is very dirty and aged. Room walls and bed were mouldy. TV, telephone and bathroom fan, did not work. Had to beg for room to be cleaned daily. Had to walk to reception to ask for toilet paper and towels daily. Safe batteries held on with duct tape and did not work. Room door key lock mechanism did not work, had to leave room unlocked and use glass sliding doors. Food is way overpriced. Wait times in restaurants is enormous. Free activities were fun, others ridiculously overpriced, so could not do them. Most staff were lovely, some treated us as a pain and not guests on the resort. It's such a shame that what could be a heavenly resort is in such a terrible condition. Even staff said they were surprised the place is always booked out, people must not know how bad it actually is. Left early to stay in Airlie, thanks to manager for refunding our last night and a pizza and fries. Hugely expensive mistake and really upsetting when you save all year for a break.

Very over priced. Poor staff support and average attitudes. Food was really bad, especially the buffet. Could not even eat the bacon as so bad. It became a joke between our family and I over the 7 days at how bad the food was and how expensive it was as all we could do was laugh really as no other option. The rooms were ok but house keeping lacked big time. Left rubbish in the rooms, didn't vacuum the floor. The aircon was filthy and the extraction vent in ensuite was filthy handnt been cleaned for a few years it looked. We spent about 13K for flights and accomodation and then spent about another 3.5k just to eat and drink for the five of us on the island for the 7 nights. The beach was great. The underwater aquarium was great. The treetop walk was great. Lovers cove was great. Would not go back though and would not recommend to anyone unfortunately as the hotel experience itself was terrible.

We had a lovely stay. Location is stunning. The room was clean however a little tired looking and we had to have maintenance fix a few things during our stay. The breakfasts were great lots of variety. Would have liked to do more dinners but the nightly buffets were too expensive for a family. All in all we would still recommend this resort to others, a wonderful tropical getaway.

If you are going to charge a premium price for the service of meals, ensure your staff are trained, capable and have the right customer service attitude to justify accordingly. Staff - almost all staff that I encountered at the bars (both at the pool and the lobby) made us feel we were inconveniences to them. And that’s just us ordering soft drinks but mostly requested to have water filled for our kid’s water bottle since the ONLY water station on the lobby is always exhausted. This has been the biggest let-down during our stay.
Some staff also talked to us rather disrespectfully thinking we are tourists that cant speak English. Once they realised that we are from Sydney, then they spoke nicer.

We didnt request any cleaning for our room. We put the ‘go green sign’ which says that you’d get ‘$10 credit for beverage’. That was not applied to our final bill either.

Food - breakfast buffet is not too bad. Quite a variety but they are all the same everyday.

For the price that we paid, we didnt find the experience worth the price we paid.

Great 2 day getaway, staff friendly, room was clean and inviting, ocean view from the room was spectacular, food was a very high standard too.
Island was kept tidy, walking tracks were well maintained.
Only slight criticisms were the app was a little slow to use and the air conditioner was not able to be controlled from the room.

The room was clean but bathroom was old. Shower has two tabs cold and hot instead of one so you need to turn on both and turn off both!!!! Tab on the basin makes squeaking noise every time I turn the cold water on. They need some maintenance. The resort itself was fantastic, it was before peak season so not too crowded. Staff at the Kayak and Snorkeling were friendly and helpful enjoyed both activities. Breakfast was good overall but same menu for my entire 3 day stay… (bacon was fantastic! Thin and streaky). Restaurant was pricey but very delicious and big portions (Salty restaurant) so I was OK wth the price (wood fire pizza $32-36, highly recommended very nice pizza, generous toppings yum). Infinity restaurant was fusion Asian fine dining with ocean view, again, food was amazing delicious. Dessert was great, loved ginger and cinnamon cake, so good. This little island offers lots of free activities and family friendly, staff are friendly and responsive. They also offers free in room movies. All 2025 new ones wow, we watched one each night and they were just released in the cinema this year like Superman 2025. Best part it’s free! Highly recommend for a relaxing slow hassle free holiday. I brought some drinks and snacks, breakfast was included, it was not too pricey holiday at the end. They got a nice snorkeling spot with lots of tropical fishes and corals. Had a lovely time there. Gave 4 star only because the bathroom needs some maintenance.

If you are only staying for a couple of days the dining options work, but if you are staying a week then the options are very limited indeed. The coffee shop closes at 11am. I know you can get coffee at the various bars on the island but if the coffee shop was open till 4pm and serving some carrot cake or muffins would be very helpful. Closing at 11am I didnt understand at all.
The area where breakfast is served then sits empty after 10am. Surely it could be set up as a 3rd dining option as a smorgasbord at a cheaper rate than the other 2 dining options.

Beautiful spot, the rooms were clean and beds were good. Everything is within easy walking distance. The restaurants have smaller menus but the meals are very nice especially at Infinity. Our 2 boys (10 and 12) did the Reef Ranger activities and they loved every bit of it, the staff were fantastic and let us tag a long with the boys well worth the price. Lovers Cove snorkelling and sunsets are amazing.

The breakfast was lovely and replenished constantly. The pool is beautiful though we were there 4 days and didnt see it cleaned once while there, lots of leaves, grass etc from previous days not cleaned out. This is our 5th visit to daydream and each time we go there are things that have been removed or changed and not available anymore. There are not enough options for lunch and dinner, so we were pleased we werent there for a week this time as we were running out of things we wanted to eat. Staff were all lovely and our rooms clean but you could see where around the resort more attention to cleaning is needed and has been let go.

The food at the restaurants was poor and overpriced. Minimal options. The islands recycled water irrigation system for the gardens smelt putrid. Our rooms balcony was filthy and the sliding doors rails were black. We were required to request a room change due to the putrid smell of the irrigation water. The resort staff were kind enough to facilitate a room change for us. The resort is tired it needs maintenance. The pools were nice and there is a nice walk around the island and Lovers Cove snorkelling is great.

Room cleaning is average. They did not properly vacuumed and did not clean bathroom. Aircond is a bit noisy. Shower was leaked. Safe had batteries taped at the back. There was no cover lol.

Dinning option should include small healthy bites. Restaurants were good.

Overall the place is excellent and staffs were wonderful. We loved kayak, observatory, rain forest walk and last minute buggy ride. Wonderful people. We will visit again.

We booked an ocean view room and got a pool view. The water sports were located at the other end of the resort where the old resort was located which was all boarded up and looked like the cyclone just hit it again. TV didn’t work, fan in bathroom didn’t work. The room was dirty and the balcony was filthy.
Staff were amazing and very accommodating where possible.

As a couple without kids I would not recommend. Also the ferry fares are very expensive.

Very limited options at the Infinity restaurant considering the prices. The food looked great but was consistently disappointing.

Very similar experience at the Salti restaurant. The pizzas were good though.

It was also surprising that the resorts dedicated Tour and Activities desk weren't able to arrange activities for us. Instead, they advised us to call companies to arrange this ourselves. They didn't seem to appreciate that the \"cheap local call\" would mean having to buy a Roaming package for out mobiles, which was definitely not expected to be necessary when staying at the resort.

Every day we were told the jetskis were either unavailable because it was too windy, or they were fully booked. However, the jetskis were parked up and unused, whilst we could see people from other resorts using jetskis on the water. There was clearly an issue with the management or operation of the service and it was very disappointing and frustrating to hear them being dishonest about it.

Cocktails were expensive, very underwhelming, and the customer service was appalling. As there was very little else to do, due to the windy conditions and lack of jetskis, this could have been something fun for us and lucrative for them, but everyone missed out on the opportunity.

Areas of the resort were very run down and derelict.

Having somewhat splashed out on this rare treat for the family and not spared the expenses, it was very disappointing and did not live up to the reviews I'd read.

Large pools with a variety of loungers. Barefoot Bar located at one of the pools.
Bingo and trivia at Tonic bar with prizes - great fun. Just watch out for people who cheat at trivia by looking up the answers on their phone/tablet.
Large variety of sea life in the living reef.
Free catamaran, kayak, SUP and snorkelling equipment hire.
Rainforest walk from one side of the island to the other.
Excellent selection of food at the breakfast buffet at Graze. However, Graze also does a roast buffet night on Sunday for $65pp and an Italian buffet night on Wednesday for $59pp. Pretty steep prices if you can only manage to eat one plate of food.
Infinity (Asian inspired cuisine) was both delicious and value for money. Only open for dinner (excluding Wednesday and Sunday).
Salti is open everyday for lunch and dinner. Quite a small selection of food available given this is the main option and considering people may stay on the island for 5 or more nights and want a bit of variety. Service was terribly slow too. However, the woodfire pizzas were delicious.
No microwave in room to reheat any leftovers.
Lots of birds (cheeky cockatoos, lorikeets, curawongs, crows, sparrows, mynas, bush stone curlews).
We were without running water and a flushing toilet for approximately 8 hours. No compensation provided.
$10 credit per day for each day that you don't have housekeeping services.

The dining options were limited and for the prices charged probably not to the standard I would have expected. I get that it's an island and everything has to be transported to the island. We found the food good but bland. Maybe it's trying to accommodate for people that are not used to full flavoured foods. Not sure.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Daydream Island resort! 🌴 The living reef experience was incredible - snorkeling among the coral and marine life was a highlight of my trip 🐠🐳. The resort's location is perfect, and the multiple pools offer a great spot to relax 🌊. The aquatic life on the island is amazing, with plenty of fish and other creatures to spot.

One thing that was a bit of a letdown was the spa treatment - decent options, but quite expensive. While my overall experience was great, I did find a few things missing - no all-inclusive meal and drinks option, no steam or sauna, and no mini bar in the rooms. These additions would take the resort to the next level and make it even more enthralling. Still, I highly recommend Daydream Island for its beauty and charm. With a few tweaks, it could be truly unforgettable!

I loved the staff were lovely and the pools and facilities were pretty good . The rooms weren’t the cleanest and the bathrooms needed some Maintanence I understand it’s an island and the humidity plays a factor but I paid for an ‘upgraded’ ocean view room and it wasn’t the greatest.
I think the most important factor that isn’t great for the hotel is the lack of food options / no room service or ability to take back anything other than pizza , chips or about 3 things off the menu . Which was hard as we have kids and one of them goes to bed at 7.30.
The variety wasn’t great you get sick of eating the same things for lunch and dinner after a couple of days especially if they weren’t great when you had them the first time.

The buffet breakfast was also really good. There was nothing in the rooms like a mini bar so I couldn’t purchase anything to eat or drink from there but the island said you were not allowed to bring food from outside the island .

The rule needs to change as I wasn’t able to bring anything I couldn’t get fresh milk for my little girl to drink overnight and my kids didn’t eat fruit or vegetables for 4 days .
At home we eat cucumber / carrots / bananas / salads avocado ect daily.

So I think overall it’s nice to see but I wouldn’t return and the other part of the island really needs some work.

Overall great holiday but limited menu at only two restaurants. Would be better if menu changed over the week. Needed a store to buy fresh fruit, snacks, etc. Buildings overall pretty tired. Smell of sewerage at one end of island which meant walking far was not enjoyable. The rainforest walk we had to hold our noses for half of it! One end of island so underdeveloped and almost eery...like a cyclone hit it and it has been left untouched. Staff were not overly friendly. Pool areas lovely. It was very very quiet which was the biggest plus and felt like you were on the island on your own. Loved all the nature and wallabies roaming around.

Dirty chair and curtains in our room. Staying for a week but didn't top up bathroom supplies. Shutters moudly in dining area.
Terrible options for lunch.
Too expensive to travel to mainland or hamilton for a daytrip.
Half the island isn't used but has so much potential.

As you are in an Island , you have to rely on their food options and restaurant, this would be shocking when you have a child and been told the food is finished or all the tables have been reserved! they should know how many guest on the Island to ensure the variety and enough food in reasonable prices available for everyone.

Daydream island falls short of its full potential.
Half of the island is unutilised which is a shame as it has everything pools, shop and canteen.

What was even more outrageous was 2 out of 3 restaurants ran out of food 2 nights in a row.! They say not to bring outside food but I would suggest to pack food before you go.

This place is designed for people who want to do nothing at all during the day and have an early night watching tv in bed as there’s nothing to do after dinner.

A great resort to relax and play. Despite the rough weather, we could still move around the resort easily; we checked out the rainforest walk, fed wallaroos and admired the underwater reef. Lots of nature all around.

The cleanliness of the rooms were not consistent, depending who was doing it, sometimes the floor was not cleaned. That was the downside as we went to Airlie Beach after Daydream Island the the hotel hygiene and cleanliness were 10x better.

The customer service from staff was lacking - upon check out at 8.30am on Monday 30th June, I had the front service staff huff in her breath when I kindly asked to view my invoice before making the final payment. My sister in law also had bad customer service when she waited for her coffees, only to find out they were ready and 'sitting there' while the 3 staff/barista were busy chatting away.

The welcome process was great unfortunately the great customer service did not follow through.

I loved the vibe of the small island, you can walk everywhere and you feel like you are miles away from everything.

There is room for improvement for the cleanliness of the bathrooms, especially the tabs on the sinc, need some good scrubbing.

Apart from that, we had a magical week, blessed with the best weather for the entire week.

Main areas of resort were beautiful, however the south end of the island needs renovations and bar wasn’t open. Buffet dinner was a letdown from what was advertised and ran out of dessert within an hour. Shower head in room needs replacing terrible pressure. Staff were helpful and friendly.

We loved the living reef, underwater observatory, educational talks and amazing staff. Breakfast was great, with plenty of options, and restaurants nice. A cafe serving sandwiches and salads for lunch would be a great addition. The gardens, pools and buildings are really well maintained, with lovely walks around the Island. An enjoyable 4 night stay!

Amazing location, staff were all amazing, food was great albeit a bit on the expensive side. Maintenance in this environment must be tough but most things worked as they should. I would highly recommend this for a family holiday and I would come back here again.

Lovely resort. Some nice features in particular the Living Reef and underwater observatory, both free. Rooms are large clean and well appointed. Still a few naintenance issues, eg, mould on outside of windows and on verandah walls. Inside generally maintained well. Lovers Cove a great place to sunbakw, swim and snorkel. Well protected from any SE prevailing winds.

We were extremely unlucky with weather, it was rain and strong winds during our stay. Unfortunately heater option was locked in my hotel room. Working fans were everywhere in common areas so there was also cold.
This is not the best place for snorkeling. It is better to take tours to outer reef from here. The island itself is beautiful and hotel is great, many pools, reef, comfy mattresses, great views. Wallaroos, cockatoos, curlews everywhere, they all are so funny.

Disappointment Island :(
Have previously been to Daydream Island twice and it was fantastic.
Thought we would bring our Teens back to show them but what an absolute disappointment. Purchased a Superior Pool Side Room thinking we would have direct pool access like the photos. when we arrived you couldn't even see the pool the gardens are so overgrown and there is no access to pool, not worth the extra money.
The rooms smell mouldy. The curtains have mould on them, the doonas and pillows all have mould and the horrible queen size beds are just full of urine stains and massive patches of black mould. Not to mention old innerspring mattress was like sleeping on the floor.
We requested a room change and were declined twice, saying they had nothing available. But multiple rooms were empty. Food is average in the restaurants and not worth the price tag.
The island is in major need of a overhaul as one end all the buildings are boarded up it's like a ghost town with a pool in the middle.
Even the staff say it's not the same since it was sold in 2015 to the Chinese.
Unfortunately Daydream Island is not worth WASTING your money.
Rooms are dirty, mouldy, Tv's don't work, Sliding doors to balcony don't open, Food expensive and not great. Gardens overgrown over the paths so it's a little scary with snakes and the big Goanna's.
Maintenance Staff blow the paths to clear the leaves and Kangaroo Poo but it just gets blown onto the garden or as we saw in the pool.

Avoid at all cost.
