Overall a great experience! It felt like we were right in the rainforest. It gave me summer camp vibes. The rooms were small, but clean. The toilets and showers being outside (but still private) were an interesting surprise! The bathrooms could be cleaner though. Staff was amazing and very helpful.

Our stay at Magnums was great, nice and easy. Its very central and everything is walkable! Very close to the beach! The staff was great and accommodating, they allowed us late checkout of 12pm instead of 10am.
The room was clean and thank god for the air conditioning, it is cooking outside!
Overall great, will come back if we plan to be in Airlie again :)

Warning: Google Maps has a HARD time here & sent me everywhere except the hotel. Place is in a perfect location (near lagoon/beach & groceries etc), cool jungle setup, clean, powerful AC/fan. If you can, get a ground-level room because it's all stairs. Kitchen was nice tho I couldn't figure out the electric stove, but they have gas as well so no worries. WEAR BUG SPRAY on your lower legs. You won't see the mosquitoes/sand flies but they WILL get you. Luckily they don't need the strong spray (I used citronella oil).

Had a lovely comfortable stay at Magnums on our way to Cairns. The cabin was cosy, clean and very comfortable. Had a really restful night's sleep in the very comfy bed.

Reception staff were lovely and a big shout-out to Nicole. I had injured my foot and was struggling to walk. She accompanied me to and helped me get to my cabin. Thank you for your care and kindness Nicole. Made a huge difference.

Loved staying here and definitely on the radar to stay for future trips.

Fantastic location in the heart of town. Close to a Woolworths and lots of shops and restaurants. Rainforest style pathways which are beautiful to walk through. We stayed in a queen bed cabin. It’s fine all except for the bathroom. Not having proper doors means you hear everything when people use the toilet. The shower kept running out of hot water and the spray is too hard (to the point where it hurts), needs a new shower head. Just a shower curtain meant the water sprays out everywhere and does not drain well. I know this place is on the cheaper end of accommodation so we can live with these things but it seems like it could be a fairly easy fix, at least the doors. It also should have better ventilation in there, there’s mould on the ceiling.

Our stay was amazing. I thought it would be noisy being by the pub but it was so peaceful and relaxing. Gorgeous grounds and big camp kitchen. We had the basic room but all we needed and a great price. The bathrooms were kept clean and respected by guests. Well done Magnums team and especially housekeeping who were very friendly and worked hard. I would definitely stay again.

Was a little apprehensive of this property when booking. A \"hostel\" at a relatively low price point was a bit concerning. At 45 years old we were certainly the elder statesmen, but it was cool. Natural, jungly, clean, a little hippy/crunchy, and right next to a grocery and bottle shop. The bar out front was great. Turns out we were at a hostel named Magnums during prise week. Nightly drag shows and \"toad races\". Super wierd, but super fun. We went out on a catamaran for a couple days, and they had convenient luggage storage on site.

The room smelt weird. The bed and sheets were clean but everything else looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. I found stuff left from the previous occupants under the furniture. After the first night I woke up with multiple bites. I thought these were mosquitos but upon checking out it has become clear I’m suffering from bed bug bites. I’ve messaged the property to inform them but I haven’t received anything back. I’m now having to either wash or throw away all my items. Not fun!! I’ve given two stars because the hotel has good entertainment and I was allowed to check in early.

Stopped in Airlie for two nights. It the hostel was clean and tidy we had a shared bathroom and it was very clean showers we’re powerful to have a good shower. The only fault with this place was the pillows on the bed were super thin I might as well have not had a pillow it was so thin also if your in a shared facility the walls are very thin so you can hear a lot ear plugs are a must if staying here! Perfect for what we needed. They allowed you to use the luggage store to put your bags in before check in and check out. Apart from the thing pillow and walls perfect place to stay

I absolutely love this property! This is the 2nd time I have stayed there now. It was like staying in a cabin in the rainforest, it was so lush and beautiful. Check in was easy, the lady at the front was very nice. Basic, but everything was clean. And the water pressure in the showers is outstanding! I definitely recommend Magnums.

A lovely 2 night break after 2 nights on the Greyhound. It was definitely over my budget but needed my own room after my long journey. I was so grateful for the earlier check-in as I rocked up at 8am after getting off the bus. I nearly hugged the receptionist. My room was cute and compact. It had a fridge which was amazing and a kettle but a shared kitchen was also available. The shower had strong pressure which was great and clean. Yes the place is a little old and worn but it’s clean and safe. The jungle setting is pretty cool but very buggy especially mosquitoes. Tons of them....I was bitren each time I left my room. I'm one of those people that attract mosquitoes no matter what lotions and potions I use so maybe a jungle setting should have made me run away. I enjoy staying in quirky places especially when it's managed well and security is excellent. This place was, so mosquitoes boo!!! but Magnums and staff yea!!!!!

This hostel needs a lot of TLC. The room was very dark, dingy and smelt badly of damp, you could see the mould on the walls and the ceiling fan. It was clean except for the plates, cutlery and glasses which had not been washed. The shared bathrooms were clean, but very old and tattered. I'm not sure how anyone taller than 5 ft 5 would cope in the shower as they are so low down. Also wildlife (birds, lizards, insects) were frequently in the bathrooms as there was no main door to them. The resort itself could be great, the kitchens are large and there's a few places to sit and socialise. The location is perfect, in close walking distance to Woolies, maccas, shops, restaurants, beach and lagoon.
Overall, if you're looking for a budget base this place is fine. But don't expect a lot as it is in dire need of a renovation.

This property was well equipped and clean, we stayed in one of the en suite twin cabins which was fine for 3 people sharing. The only real downside was that the accommodation was joined with a bar/club hosting live music every night which was quite loud from the room and unfortunately this wasn't noted on the listing. If you are looking for more of a party vibe it would be perfect for you.

The rooms are quite basic and the shared bathroom facilities were not the cleanest but I imagine the private rooms would be much better. There is a bar attached to that hostel so depending on where your room is, it could be a bit loud at night

Being from the local area I was pleasantly surprised by the property. Our queen ensuite room was comfortable and had all the basics. The shower might be a little small but more than adequate. The camp kitchen is well equipped. The accommodation is at the rear of a busy pub but we didn’t hear any noise from there. The gardens are just beautiful, so green and lush. Well done groundskeepers.

You walk out the front and you are right in the middle of Airlie beach, supermarket and bottle shop next door and restaurants galore. There is no hill to walk up which is very unusual for Airlie. I definitely recommend Magnums

Perfect location. Walking distance to all that is needed in Airlie. We had a good unit down the back and it was quiet but I would think closer to the pub would be loud. The queen room was spacious but I wasn’t impressed with the condition of the pillows (had a smell). The bathroom has half doors which makes it difficult for privacy in the toilet and our shower had lots of long hair still visible. Staff were friendly and accommodating on checkin.

Magnums is in a great location, right in the heart of Airlie Beach. It has a large bar and nightclub attached to it too. The shared shower and toilet facilities are also pleasant.

However, we woke up on our first morning with our bed covered in hundreds of ants, as well as a number of woodlice and small cockroaches in the room. Unfortunately, all of the rooms were fully booked so we could not change to a different room - reception did provide some bug spray, which killed most of the insects but there will still a few crawling around the following morning.

3 stars as the location and price were very good, but of course let down by the insects!

Really enjoyed our stay, it’s a well designed site with all the necessary facilities, and staff were friendly and helpful, especially when I wasn’t feeling well when we arrived! We had the private cabin with kitchenette and it was clean, comfortable and surprisingly very quiet given the bar on the side of the hostel. My only tiny suggestion for improvement would be to provide a laundry airer, to dry clothes which can’t go in the tumble dryers on site.
