The room was spacious and A/C worked really good in the room. The house keeper did such amazing job keeping the room clean every day. The staff were very friendly, but my only complaints are that the restaurant did not offer a good selection for the breakfast which is supposed to come with the reservation, their “Americano” option was horrible and the eggs and bacon were undercooked. To add on to that the A/C didn’t work at restaurant, which is why we preferred spend the extra money to eat somewhere else. Other than that, we had an okay stay.

I stayed at Hotel Getsemaní Cartagena from July 17 to 20, and everything was absolutely awesome. From check-in to check-out, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The rooftop pool and views were a great bonus, and the breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious. The location is perfect—close enough to walk to the Walled City and local spots, but still peaceful. I truly enjoyed my stay and will definitely return one day. Thank you for a great experience!

This property was perfect . You can’t beat the location . Everything within a 10-15 walk . The rooms are huge ! And had amenity.. ( blower, robes, slippers, iron , complimentary water and cookies and great soaps . ) The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The lighting in the room
Is very dim . But bathroom light is sufficient for makeup application. And breakfast was great ! Book it !! It’s worth it !

Having stayed at a different facility some days prior, (infinitum bldg, BocaGrande) checking into the hotel room honestly felt like a degrade. I booked one of the bigger suites in the hotel, and the bathroom barely had any privacy. I could literally hear everything my wife was doing there and vice versa. The pool was very small, and I was told I couldn't drink my own liquor that I had purchased outside of the hotel. Never had an issue at any other hotel with this. While purchasing their liquor, two margaritas literally cost me more than $40 USD. They didn't have a menu, I found this out at checkout. A ridiculous price when everything literally outside of the hotel is half the cost or less for the same drink.

The room lighting is extremely dark, I could barely see the clothes that I ironed. Some natural lighting would have been helpful, but the room is mostly surrounded with brick walls with little lighting through the windows.

Positives about the hotel, centrally located within the entire wall city. No need for a taxi service. Not worth what I payed for in my opinion.

Great location, close to everything. The hotel itself is pretty dated, could use some updates. We stayed 6 nights, and while housekeeping made the beds the linens were never replaced with clean ones (even when obviously dirty). Rooftop bar across the street can be very loud too- one night they had music blaring until 4:30am. Overall not a terrible stay… but for what we paid, I guess we expected a nicer stay.

During our 7-day stay at the hotel, we found everything to be good, but nothing exceptional. The hotel's location is convenient, within walking distance to many places and easily accessible via Uber. It's close to Centro de Convenciones, Gestsemani main streets, Castillo, Monumento a las Botas, and Popa. Room 17 was clean and nice. However, if you have small children, it's worth noting that the room has stairs and open sections.

We have been to Cartagena a number f times. This was our best hotel experience to date. It is in a great location. Close to the restaurants but away from the walled city and all the neve ending vendors there. There is a great Salsa club just a block away. The staff is amazing. Friendly, helpful and attentive. Both teh hotel and the restaurant which also very good! The hotel is small, intimate and beautiul. We will stay here again!

Beautiful hotel, would recommend!

The hotel is in a prime location - walkable to most areas and very lively. The hotel is a repurposed colonial mansion, so the ambience and decor are lovely. There are decorative pools throughout the main floors and small tables and chairs to enjoy a morning coffee. Breakfast was included, which was a good standard meal to start the day. We had a duplex room, which was beautiful (and smelled great!). The showers were particularly nice as well.

The only real con was that we had to request towels a few times. I was a little surprised they didn't have the room ready with them during the room cleaning. The pool area was a bit small - better for lounging/relaxing than for using the actual pool.

Other than that - lovely staff and hotel! I would definitely recommend staying here.

Hotel is in a great location and the property is great! However, our premium room with jetted tub did not hold up to our expectations. Personal room jetted jacuzzi and ceiling were not working the entire 4 night stay. Multiple maintenance visits could not fix the issue. After first maintenance visit, we were told it was fixed, however it still did not work and notified front desk again. After 3 separate maintenance visits we were told that we needed to reach out to Expedia. We were asking for a price adjustment since we didn't receive the amenities that our premium room was booked for. Additionally, room was about 50 feet from a rooftop bar that blasted music every night until 12:30-1:00am. We slept with earplugs every night. Hotel and grounds are beautiful, but it does not match a 5 star rating.

I was so afraid booking through a 3rd party site but this hotel is beautiful and it smells so good! Hotel Capellan is located at the corner of one of the most photographed streets in Getsamni! It is across the street from the National Park AND bonus - walk through the park and you are at the Walled City and Pegasus Walk Way!!! Really an excellent location!!

Andrea at the front desk was wonderful and so was the handsome Rey the bellman. The restaurant is lovely and they gave me a welcome drink while I waited for my room. The room, a king room was on the first floor - you get to it by walking through a courtyard with little pools, exposed brick walls and plants - gorgeous! The room is beautifully appointed with 2 wardrobes, a sitting area a desk and a TV that gets Netflix - important when you want to relax after walking the Walled city! The bathroom was lovely with a shower. This hotel has an elevator up to the roof deck with the pool and bar. The pool is probably a lap pool but I enjoyed sitting in it while reading. People mentioned on other reviews that there are no windows on the first floor - my room was on the first floor and they were right but the room was beautifully lit and I realized that the windows face Calle De Sierpe as I mentioned on of the most popular streets in the Getsemani neighborhood so you probably don’t want windows that open. This was only a minor drawback for me - as I said the room is beautifully lit, but there is noise bring earplugs

We had a great time in Cartagena which started each day with our breakfast in the hotel restaurant. All of the people working in this hotel are welcoming, polite and helpful. Each time we walked in or out of the hotel I was greeted by name. I celebrated my birthday while in Cartagena and the hotel staff found me at the pool with a piece of cake to sing happy birthday to me - what attention to detail! Noticing the date of my birthday without being told by anyone from my family. The hotel is clean and very well located.
We were able to walk to all of the restaurants we went to. The hotel staff helped us arrange airport transfers for both our arrival and departure. Quickly responding to requests I sent through Hotels.com messaging.
I would happily stay at Hotel Capellan de Getsemani again.

I would recommend this hotel for couples looking to be in the Getsemani area. Or with older kids. For families with younger kids I found it didn’t have the best amenities and for the too the family suite stairs were quite dangerous, as it had no closed railing. When I came in also they used a very strong smelling eucalyptus based cleaning product which stung my eyes. The manager was very helpful and supported the cleaning of the room to remove scent. Breakfast was excellent. I would recommend checking out the Silvia restaurant nearby as well as the whole area. Big thanks to the manager Tatiana for helping us.

I enjoyed the stay very much at Hotel Capellan. From the doormen including Rey and Neren. They were always pleasant with a smile and inquisitive if you had enjoyed yourself on the outings. The breakfast was nice although would have liked a traditional Colombian breakfast. The front desk people including Carlos was very helpful with any questions we had. We loved our rooms and the access to the first floor. The beds were very comfortable and loved the slippers and robes we were given to use during the stay. Overall, loved the hotel and how close it was to the tourist areas. Great place to take photos as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Getsemani.

PERFECT location: a short walk to the walled city but just a block from all the happenings in Getsemani. The hotel itself is a zen oasis in a bustling neighborhood, with attentive staff, great restaurant, beautiful rooftop bar area, and the air conditioning cranks! I came here for a friend's 35th birthday, and this is one of the best luxurious hotels I have ever been to. It was 7 of us girls... so it's a lot to handle. I have never seen a staff so accommodating for every need I had ever asked. I had forgotten my JBL speaker charger cord, and the front desk offered to charge it for me every night. This place is safe, and the people are extremely nice. The spa, the rooftop bar is crème de la crème!!! Here on out when I revisit this place I will stay here. The bartender: Ronal was amazing, and his drinks were great. We had breakfast every morning, and everything was fresh and delicious. When walking into your room it smells amazing. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom is beautiful. The view on the rooftop is stunning where you can see the city. Really an amazing time spent here, and I enjoyed every second of it. Thank You so much for an amazing stay!!

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff is excellent. I was greeted with a delicious welcome drink. My room was beautiful and very comfortable. I enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. I am vegan. The chef made me a vegan dinner every nite. Rey who is part of the hotel staff was so friendly and helpful! The pool, breakfast, and nice rooms also stand out.

My daughter and I stayed here for her birthday weekend and it was amazing. Excellent customer service and very clean. Elizabeth, Rey and Ela (housekeeping) were wonderful. Hotel close to everything helped a lot. I have never stayed in a hotel that smelled as wonderful as this one. Thanks for an amazing stay!
