This hotel is in the perfect location and was excellent for exploring Getsamani and the Walled City. Rooms are basic and comfortable and clean. The hotel is in a very lively, busy area so it is quite noisy. We changed rooms a couple of times and the staff were very helpful and accommodating, but it was still always very loud. Bring earplugs and you will be fine. Breakfast was yummy with lots of variety and coffee and fresh juice. I would recommend this hotel.

Excelentemente ubicado, a 2 cuadras de la ciudad amurallada y a 2 de Getsemani.
Sin embargo, una del staff (no Rodolfo, que fue súper amable y nos brindó toda la información que necesitábamos en todo momento) hacía todo de mala gana y lento.
Durante mi estadía experimenté lo siguiente:
- un día entero no funcionó el WiFi,
- el baño del lobby estuvo fuera de servicio todos los días, - un día quisimos tomar jugo y pedimos en el lobby. Nos dijeron que no tenían. Entonces pensé en comprar limones afuera y prepararlo yo mismo, por lo que si me podrían prestar la licuadora, cosa que tampoco quisieron. Finalmente quise al menos exprimirlos y para eso que por favor me den una jarra. TAMPOCO quisieron darme una jarra.
- La penúltima noche comenzó a gotear (más bien chorrear) el aire y tuvieron que repararlo.
- La última noche el aire comenzó nuevamente a gotear, luego a hacer un ruido infernal, por lo que tuvieron que cambiarnos de habitación, donde OH, SORPRESA, había una jarra a disposición (después me enteré que en varias piezas había, solo no quisieron dármela a mi, o lo que yo sospecho, la del staff para no levantarse y caminar unos pasos, ni se molestó).

En resumen: excelente ubicación, infraestructura debe mejorar bastante, pésimo staff.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall the property is old because is in the middle of the Historic Center. Location is great, walking distance to the majority of the touristic areas. The standard rooms DONT include hot water in the shower, only the supreme rooms or by request. I didn't know that and had to take cold shower :( The manager offered me another room but I didn’t want to pack again just for 1 day.

Staff were very nice and attentive. It was at a great location, near everything. However the hotel was very simple and things were not updated. We had to change room because there was no hot water in the room. The next room water was dripping from the air conditioner and we had to have few towels to cover the water all the time.

Great location, about a 3 minute drive walk into the walled city and a 3 minute walk into Getsemani neighborhood. Lots of food vendors and restaurants and shops nearby. About a 15-20 minute drive to the airport and 10 minute drive to the Playa Azul beach area. The staff were all sooo friendly. Felt safe. The hotel is older and it shows but the beds were clean and the giant flat screen tvs had netflix. The showers have warm water, some of the rooms have a balcony. The area is in a party zone so if youre looking for quiet this is not the area for you. Buffet breakfast was decent with croissants pastries fruit juice coffee eggs sausages and mini pancakes

Very basic! To me this is a 2 stars property overall. Staff is very nice, but they are limited by the property resources. The mattress were horrible; we have no fridge but I asked and they brought us one; the toilet seat was broken, I told them and they fixed it; maybe I should have said something about the mattresses; breakfast is very limited, I suggest going early; friendly staff. If I can afford a better hotel I would go to another one. We ran into, mainly, European tourists (France and Italy) and Mexicans. Location is convenient to visit the walled city.

This was an excellent place to stay! It’s very clean and there is someone at the front desk and door at all times so it’s very safe! Continental breakfast was excellent every day! The location Is walkable to all points of interest and great restaurants and markets! Also the marina and beach! The one thing to note is that it does sit on the corner of two busy streets so it is not the quietest. If you are looking for serene, this is not the place. That is the only negative thing I can say. There was one night time front desk guy that was rude when we needed help at one point which is the only reason I gave service 4 stars. Everyone else on the staff was wonderful.

Room was cleaned , good size, but you won’t be able to sleep because of noises from outside also early morning the house keeping. front of the hotel is taxi stands you can hear them talking , yelling starts at 6am till 2am. breakfast is not so good . restaurant have no AC. If you ask any information from front desk , 90 percent of them have no knowledge but all of them were very friendly. also no room service at all . twice I asked for room service , i was told they have only water and beer . over all good price if you don’t mind outside noises . location is good , near restaurants and bars but very crowded area.

Overall experience was good but what was excellent is the price I paid and the location which is about a block away from the historic center where all the colonial structures are found . From this establishment, if you turn left, you will experience a different Colombian vibe from street art , music, food etc, pretty safe neighborhood…..

The hotel needs lots of refurbishing in the hallways, but the rooms we received were refurbished and pretty nice, the balcony faced the park, which was nice if the park wasn't under construction and very noisy since early in the morning, One of our two rooms had a mini fridge the other did not? Overall the location was excellent everything in walking distance the breakfast was good and the service was great by all, hope to come back when the park construction is finished as it was a good value.

The only positive things I can find is being cheaper than the other hotels in the area, nice view from the higher floors and decent wifi.
Very old room, very old building, poor customer service, no warm water, noisy. Not the usual standard you get from hotels.
Go there if you want to save money, but don't expect a decent experience.

The location of the hotel is close to the city's attractions. The room is spacious, nicely decorated and has beautiful park and old town view. The bed is large and comfortable. Super clean facility located right outside of the walled city. Room was spacious and free water was a nice touch. Easy to get to Getsemani as well. VERY noisy on the adjacent street for really no reason as there isn’t a club there and it isn’t a major street. Staff is super rude. I’m a mild mannered person and I had to catch myself a couple of times. Wouldn’t stay here again due to staff and surrounding area but it wasn’t a bad choice.

Amazing experience in Cartagena. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was very clean with nice view to Parque Centenario and Shopping entrance. Housekeeper (Genesis) very attentive, ensure I have everything I need in room.

The positives: This hotel looks very cute from the outside, like it has history. It is also very close to the nightlife/tourism area.

The negatives:

If you get a room with a balcony, the taxis stop is right outside, it is impossibly loud, I needed to switch rooms to a room without the balcony.

The rooms are barebones, often 1 electric plug, no working tv, no hot water, no real storage to organize your things.

If you are looking for something close to the beach, this is not it. Walking will be over a hour to a decent place. It looks close on the map, but those are not beaches you can swim at.

At most times there will not be a member of staff working who speaks English, so if you have a problem you will have to figure it out in Spanish or wait until morning.

WiFi is pretty bad as well.

San Felipe Hotel was excellent value clean, efficient ,and friendly staff . Great base to see Cartagena. Decent breakfast not much choice but fresh ,we didnt like the sweet bread s. Longed for some proper whole wheat brown bread .there was some on first day but none after that .and they dont speak english so difficult to ask ,but i did manage to ask for boiled eggs via google translate .
Comfy beds tv worked good internet and hot shower ,you have to press switch on top of shower tho !
Good efficient air con in room and you could leave it on so came back to lovely cool room after going out in the heat all day . Made it bearable. And although we were put in a room on side /back. Instead of balcony room ,we were happy because it was quiet ,and you wouldnt use the balcony as no chairs and too hot and humid . The property is in an excellent location, right in between the old walled city and Getsemani. There are many great restaurants of all description in the area. Very easy to get a taxi and very walkable. We felt the neighbourhood was very safe. If your room is facing the street you may have a lot of noise from the traffic. We had a room on the interior of the building that was fairly quiet until some inconsiderate people woke us up at 3 AM shouting in the hallway. The hallways are very wide and tiled with marble tile so everything echoes. We suggested to the front desk that they advise people to be considerate of other guests between 11 PM and 9 AM. They were very apologetic and seemed open to the idea of posting a sign to remind guests to be respectful of other people who might be sleeping at 3 AM. The front desk staff is great. Breakfast is OK nothing special.

The hotel was very clean and in a great location near the wall city. We were assigned a balcony facing the park with the street in front of the hotel, which was very noisy. Maria, one of the hotel staff was extremely helpful, and right away assigned us a new room. She gave us directions and maps and coordinated tours. She even arranged for our laundry to be done. Breakfast was varied and delicious every day. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.

It's true that this property is centrally located — just outside the walled city. And the breakfast was substantial and the area spacious enough to hold most guests. But not only does the hotel lack hot water (which you may or may not need, that's a personal matter), but the WiFi is appallingly slow. They seem to be using inappropriate domestic routers. The elevator was broken for all 5 days we were there. The sign that it would be repaired soon seems to have been there forever. The mattress was too soft and uncomfortable. The desk lacked a proper chair to sit at, just a stool, and there were not enough electrical outlets to plug in your gadgets. The closet was small for one person, let alone two. Being at the back of the building as we were was a terrible option. There's a carpenter's workshop behind the hotel and it could get loud from morning to sunset. Hopefully, you have things to do till 10 pm in the walled city but you can't count on taking an afternoon nap. I would definitely choose a different property if I went back to Cartagena.

Nice hotel but the elevator was put of order. 4th floor walk up. The breakfast was the best of all the hotels i have stayed in here in Cartajena. Like most hotels the shower is only Luke warm but as long as the air conditioning is not too cold it is fine. The air conditioning was adequate. Location is central to where all the tourist spots are located.

The hotel is located closed to everything. The staff is excellent, very helpful. Although the hotel building is old it is kept nice and clean. The hotel included a delicious complete breakfast. It is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star service. No hot water, but in Cartagena you don’t need it.

What I liked about the property was the old Spanish colonial style of the building. It was simple yet beautiful at the same time. I loved the breakfast buffet. It had an assortment of fresh fruit, teas, yogurt eggs etc. what I didn’t like was the wifi didn’t work for me and the mattress was a little hard.

We stayed on the 2nd floor with the balcony and you could hear the noice on the street clearly. I am a person that could sleep through anything. If your a light sleeper get another room on the other side. The front desk people were very nice as well as the staff. Clean room and in the middle of the city so for the exprience and money its worth it. I would have liked a refrigerator in the room to keep drinks and snacks. But over all a good exprience.

Nice large room and good air conditioner. There is ice and filtered water which is so needed in Cartagena. The area around the hotel looks really bad, though. I was worried so I made sure to return just before dark, which I have NEVER done before traveling to almost 50 countries.
