This is my honest opinion. From first hand experience. I will not embellish or embarrass. I merely report. Please do not misinterpret as a personal attack from any one person or incident why I am writing .
To begin with positivity, Hotel Costa del Sol is near transportation, restaurants, night activities, the beach.
Lovely helpful staff that was accommodating to my needs. Now to the meat in this meal. This hotel is from the 1980s. Simple, rustic no frills. If you are on a budget and your needs are simple then you will be content. Just content.
This is a family on a budget haven. Lots of kids and older folks. Hardworking limited budget types. No crazy out of control party types. The necessities are super low end. Hard mattresses, postage size soaps. The pool is ancient but clean and it closes at 530 pm. Never got a proper answer as to why so early.
Decent breakfast served for a reasonable price. Cafeteria style. To close, if low brow appeals then it’s not a bad stay.
You get what you pay for indeed. If you just need to close your eyes and sleep off a hangover.. you won’t be disappointed.

Wow, where to begin. The good first. Walkable and close to transport. The X105/3 takes you into the center of tours.
The staff is courteous and very friendly and helpful. When I needed a room change. No issues. Always with a smile.
Now, for the main reason you are here reading. Is this woth the miney? That all depwnds. Like i wrote this is and older low end seen better days hotel.
The water is cold. Everything's dated. One elevator working. If your not into fancy and or frills. This is one to pass. Many hard working families with all the kids were abundant. But it didn't get loud. The pool is ancient and not easy to enter for older folks. The

Enjoyed being so close to the beach!
Beware though if you go down, they will rent you umbrellas, drinks and then upcharge you. Ensure you get your bill correctly and pay cash.
The hotel itself was okay because we needed anything last minute. Getsemani was only a 10 min uber and that was no problem for us. worked out.

The hotel is located in a perfect spot. You can walk anywhere really, I made it to the city in 30 minutes or so. We got a room facing the ocean because we wanted the view but the windows were so dirty it was not worth it. The shower didn't have a curtain and even though the tub was spacious the water came out and wet the toilet and floor. Bring your own toiletries because they don't give you shampoo or conditioner just soap. Overall, is a decent place to stay.

Was not the property that I saw on Expedia, I reserved this property on the 22 of December 2024, unfortunately I had a medical emergency and I had to rebook my flights and immediately made a phone call to Expedia regarding my situation, which they understood and promised to call the hotel and rebook for the 24th until the 28th. ( my booking was paid until the 28th originally). Every day I was in constant communication with Expedia, which they assured me that I was not going to have any issues on my arrival, I called them again 1 hour prior my departure which they confirmed that I was not going to have any issues and that the hotel was not answering the phone. When I arrived to the hotel it was 8pm, Timmy surprised they have never heard my name or my reservation and they had no rooms available at the time, after 2 hours on the phone with Expedia and back and forth with the hotel staff, they finally miraculously found my reservation which a short stay ?!!! And my receipt had the original day off the hotel !!!.. just picture yourself, wife, 2 kids and Christmas with no place to stay and paid !!!

Finally the hotel agreed to give us a “room” (I don’t know how they work on that miracle) since at the beginning they said they had nothing available.

Of course we take it, we had been flying since the night before ! We were exhausted !!.

Guess what ?!! The hotel smelled like cigarettes, the elevator, the room was horrible with nothing working on it !! No towels ! Gross!! Do not stay

Awesome view with a suprise tax

View of the room to the sea and facilities were awesome, I paid extremely cheap thanks to the hotels.com bonus points but since my husband paid with his credit card they charged me a surprise \"tax\" that ended being more than a payed for the room but in general was still cheap. Room was clean but the air condition had a loud squeak when turned on.

El hotel estaba sucio, mal olor y el staff poco amigable. Reserve 5 noches y me retiré del hotel a penas llegué y no me devolvieron mi dinero. Ni el Hotel, no Expedía.

AVOID THIS HOTEL - WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS FOR RATING IF POSSIBLE.
The Staff was very accommodating, however, the property is on terrible condition. My air conditioning did not work so I changed rooms and the hot water did not come on regardless of how long the shower was on in the new room. The furnishings were old and the bed was hard as a brick. The linens and towels are low quality and no blanket in the room. The pillows were old, flat, and smelled. The room entry door was a hollow core door and when you left the room at night the corridor lights were off and did not come on until you reached the elevator. The air conditioning was controlled by the hotel with no thermostat in the room.

My second time staying here and I am always comfortable. I took advantage of the dining options this time around and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner in the cafeteria. It helped saved money and time, since I didn't have to really go out looking for food. Friendly staff and I was happy to see familiar faces and they recognized me after a whole year.

Horrible. Habitacion super vieja. la cerradura en la puerta no se funciono. comida en el restaurante asqueroso. super frio siempre con aire acondicianado a 18 grados y no puedes cambiarlo. 40 minutos por el check in. 30 minutos por el check out. This place treats you like a child, with stupidly strict security not allowing people who are not registered guests even when accompanied by a paying registered guest inside the hotel. Their dining options are outdated and not very vegetarian friendly. It was hot in the lobby and elevator with very uncomfortable heat. One elevator was always broken. Worst of all, housekeeping didn’t respect the “do not disturb” sign on the door, even after the front desk had me sign a paper stating that I did not want room service.

This is a horrible, dirty, shoddy hotel. Cockroaches in the rooms, lobby, and dining room. Hotel has not been maintained and is falling apart. Holes in floor. Door to our room was damaged and the top wouldn't stay closed making it easy for someone to break in. The worst part is that it was DIRTY. I would never stay there again and don't recommend it to anyone. It was listed as a 3 star hotel and maybe that was because it had a pool, but it was nasty.

Low cost option on the beach

Older hotel, rooms are pretty bare and the bathrooms are quite dated. This is a decent option if you are on a bare-bones budget otherwise there are probably better hotel options nearby for only a bit more money. They do have 2 pools - one on the 4th floor and one on the roof.

Disgusting. I found a bed bug. The elevators smell like mold. One room smelled like fumes and looked like it had not been used or cleaned in ages and was dingy. I requested a change. The next room the windows were nailed shut. I asked the staff to give me a refund, they moved me to their sister hotel Cartagna Premium. This place was better. You get what you pay for in Cartagena. Better to spend $60- 70 on a place in Getsemania. Take a taxi out to the beaches or take day trips to the nicer beaches
Boca Grande is not conveniently located. Not walking distance because the traffic is really hard to cross. Only stay in Boca Grande if you really really want a hotel with a pool.. But be willing to spend a bit more at a nicer place.

This place can't be considered a hotel. I had to book a hotel immediately for me and my wife and we went to do the check in, it was another story. They couldn't find the reservation, then I had to pay a refundable security deposit because of the problem with the reservation. The smell on the lobby, near the elevators, was something out of this world. The room had no shower curtain, so room floor got wet, a/c was noisy, room and hotel need a super major renovation. Free breakfast, lunch and dinner was ok. If hotel doesn't get renovated, there is no chance to go back to this place. At least the staff was friendly.

A nightmare at the hotel Costa del sol

The worst stay ever in my whole life. I’ve been around the world but never seen something like it. A big tall Impresive building in front of the beach but rotten old filthy indoor. Just by arriving at the lobby and the elevator you can tell by the bad smell how clean it is. Room with roaches, old furniture smell, noisy AC that disturbs your tranquility, a water leak in the bathroom from the upper floor, old bedding sheets, hard mattresses, no carpet, short window curtains and two tiny old bathroom towels! Unbelievable! It’s horrible! Run away from it unless you don’t have enough money to book others around it. I made a huge mistake by booking this hotel at the last minute after previously staying at the Hampton. It was so disgusting that I didn’t even have breakfast. If the rooms are filthy, I can’t even imagine the kitchen. I tried 3 rooms after I complained. They were all on the six floor but no better than mine! Room 617! Good luck if you can’t afford a better hotel! The owners are not investing a dime on it because their money is going to another hotel tower they are building nearby! What a shame!!!

Please please don't even want your money to save a couple bucks to stay in this hotel. This was the horrible , terrible mistake that ever did to booked on this hotel, the food is horrible, the service terrible, there is bed bugs, no towel, no clean and not service in conclusion the U.S or any motel is better than this hotel. My advice is pay more money on another hotel for your convenience in Cartagena.

the whole lobby doesnt have air conditioner so you will roast during check in. i reserved and paid (the option shown in many cheaptickets options) but when i checked in they did not have my regisrtation. silly thing. i left money and they did not want to return it the day after even after they found the registration. i had to write to cheaptickets in order to get them to do so. nobody likes paying double. all hallways even the big empty and dirty dining room is without air. so we roast and sweat. close to beach and beautiful view i got one in 10th floor but still i did not like it.

Misleading and false advertising lead me to select

This hotel was not as advertised! Initially, when I checked in I was given a room that was Roach infested and after demanding a room change nothing changed! If anything things got worst! After 6 room changes I experienced not only more roaches but bedbugs added with only cold water for bathing and washing or no working air conditioning. Finally, for the 7th room change, management moved me to an adjacent tower where the situation only slightly improved. Still there was no feeling of well-being or comfort! Not at all what I had paid for or envisioned for my vacation/fun holiday! There was nothing fun or relaxing about these misrepresented accommodations! Further, the promised full Wi-Fi was only spotty and not available throughout the entire facility. Only 1 towel was given to each person on check-in and nothing else for washing! The bed linens were NOT changed...! None of this is what I was lead to expect or what I had paid to receive! This hotel Costa Del Sol should not have the rating advertised and is most certainly a definite Health Hazard!

Very inexpensive on the beach.

This was an inexpensive option, close to everything. You are steps away from the beach. The food was decent, staff very helpful. If you speak little or no spanish, you will need to be patient and use Google Translate. The wifi in the rooms was extremely spotty and never consistent. In the lobby, the internet was adequate. The AC in the room runs 24/7 and was off a couple of times. The desk would always resolve the issue. I enjoyed staying with mostly Colombian people who are very friendly and were kind to this gringo. There was an moderate fee for bring a guest to the hotel.

Overall a cheap inexpensive place to stay that was adequate with the exception of the wifi mostly sucking.

It was the worst stay possible. Our bathroom shower door was missing! every time I would shower all the water would spill onto the floor. They did not provide us with an everyday towel, I had to go all the way downstairs to ask for one. It had roaches! I saw about 10 roaches the 7 days that I stayed there. They did not come and clean my room every day. The bed was disgusting, when I slept and the sheets rolled up you could see stains and black marks on the bed. The view was amazing but you could never tell if it was sunny or cloudy because the glass was dirty. It was the worst hotel experience. The hotel had no wifi. If you wanted wifi you had to go to the lobby. I waited about an hour and 45 minutes just to get into my room the first day. The staff was not friendly.

Hotel room was fine. Front desk was a terrible.

The room was fine for what I paid or at least what I expected. However the front desk was a joke. It took me 3 tries and over an hour and half to check in. The process is done manually. They don't have enough key cards. They manage the check-in with a pen and paper spreadsheet. Really annoying to deal with when its the middle of a beautiful day and you want to be at the beach or lounging by the pool.

Not a very pleasant experience

Reviews of this hotel were really bad but I generally don't choose hotels only based on reviews and I decided to give it a shot.
We were a group of 9 and booked 4 rooms (in August 2014). we arrived at the hotel 5 months later and were placed on 4 different floors. We asked to have all rooms on the same floor, were told it was impossible and we got 2 rooms on two floors after a long negotiation. 1 of the room was not ready till 4.30pm (it should have been ready at 3pm) and an 81years old lady was forced to wait till that time in the reception with no aircon (on a very hot day!). We were told that room was ready but had to wait another 15min once we get there as the maids were still cleaning. 2 rooms had no towels, we had to chase and finally got them in late afternoon. Staff was quite rude, they didn't even apologized for all the problems, they only said it was high season and were busy!
Towels were missing everyday from 2 rooms (we had to go to reception everyday for that!) and room never cleaned properly (sheets never changed!).
I understand that it is a 2stars hotel and I was not expecting a high level of service (especially after reading all the reviews) but I was extremely surprised to see how bad the customer service was.

Rat Infested Hotel with Poor Service

upon entering the lobby to check in, we observed numerous people jumping on furniture and screaming. Then we observed the staff with brooms trying to kill a large rat that was running around the lobby area. Hotel smells like a cigar den with mildew and years of staleness. Water would not turn off in shower and calls for towels fell on death ears. Great location especially if you like listening to loud music all night and no ventilation in the room except for the A/C that is not existent in the day and outrageously cold in the night.

s The location is excellent but the building needs maintenance. The desk personnel was not very friendly. We did not have a glass or even a plastic cup in the room to brush our teeth. The furniture was old and in bad condition. There was a horrible noise in the corridors. Air conditioner deficient, room hot especially during the day. Itseem that they never sweep & mop the floor in the rooms.
The food was good but the restaurant personnel was not friendly..The parking lot was usually closed and unattended.

The hotel does not even have hot water, the beds are hard, the noise from the wind, the food awful As they say in Spanish, nunca mas estoy en esta hotel. It means I will NEVER stay there again! I should have read more carefully the other reviews! Not at all a 21st century set-up, very poorly run restaurant and no wifi anywhere except in the main lobby! Not a signal to be found outside of the lobby! Over all, terrible place for the cost!

THE HOTEL STAFF WERE VERY RUDE ,THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE, THE FOOD WAS VERY LOW QUALITY WHEN SOMETHING WAS FINISHED FOR EXAMPLE DESERT YOU WERE OUT OF LUCK,I CHOOSE TO EAT OUT INSTEAD THE MATRSSS WAS 50 YRS OLD,NO SHOWER HEAD THE SINK WAS PLUG ED UP.\,THE HAIR DRYER DID NOT WORK .I TOLD ALL THE THINGS THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED ,AND THE HOTEL STAFF IGNORED ME YOU HAD TO BEGGTO GET TOWELS,THEY NEVER PROVIDED YOU WITH SHAMPOO OR OTHER THINGS THAT OTHER HOTELS PROVIDE,THE CLEANNING CREW WRW BANGING AT YOUR DOOR AT 8 AM TO CLEAN YOUR ROOM,.AND SOMETIMES THEY WANTED TO COME IN TO CLEAN THE ROOM WIT YOU INSIDE ,THEY ONLY CHANE SHEETS IF YOU TELL THEM ,I CAN GO ON AND ON BUT IT WONT CHANGE ANYTHING.

Dont stay in this hotel at all, these people are not very professional at all, there service sucks... They love to turn your Air Conditioner off when it is 100 degrees extremely hot in Cartagena. And when you call them to complain about on why did they turn of your A.C They take 3 hours to give you Air back.

It is not worth staying in this hotel at all, I advice you guys to choose something diffrent then this pathetic hotel with lazy staff

had a decent stay at Costa del Sol

Don't expect this hotel to be a high end one. With that in mind, you will have a decent sleep, food and relaxing time in Cartagena. I read all the reviews from guests stayed at this hotel, and I was quite worried about what was waiting for me after I made a reservation.

First of all, most staff members don't speak English (or they may not speak but understand). They were all nice and helpful though.

All meals were included and I had no complaints about it at all. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, and you may find something you like outside the hotel if you don't like what they offer.

Pool area was a bit small but ok to relax and enjoy the sun.

For the price I paid, I didn't expect much but had a good stay in Cartagena. I went to some other hotels in that area during my stay (as I was there for hotel inspections for my side job), and saw the worse with much higher price!

My stay at the Costa del Sol was very pleasant,with a very friendly staff,very courteous.The hotel needs some up-keep.It has a window where I stayed that needs some repairs,it does not close tight.The ceiling on the 4th floor has a leakage,however,in general,this hotel does give the client a good memory with a friendly stall,excellent food.That..I loved...

A nightmarmy elevating my daughters 21st bday

As I entered this hotel there was no access for my 74 year old mother who is currently disabled. Walking up the stairs there was a horrible stench that smelled like urine and food. Our hotel room was not ready when we arrived around 8 pm and were given the room until about 9 pm, we were unable to use the restroom in the lobby because it again had a terrible stench with toilet paper on the floor toilets un flushed. We requested a room for 4 and were given a room that looked like it was meant for 2 people. There was on double bed and they placed one matress barely off the floor and another that hung off the side absolutely unsafe to lay on so we had to place it on the floor to avoid any accidents. A room with a view to the beach was not given to us...we switched rooms the next morning but still had a room that was not much more decent. There were no outlets available unless we lifted up the bed frame, we had to call the front desk multiple times to get clean towels and even had to wait from 10 am ( the first time we called)until 6 pm to have the safe unlocked. Due to this we had to carry our possessions that should have been placed in the safe all day until we arrived at 6 pm. At 6 my husband had to search for the lady with the key to have it unlocked 8 hrs later.. We had no wifi connection in our room as well as no running hot water in the shower. It is uncomfortable to want to avoid returning to your hotel during the day because of these unsanitary and unwelcoming conditions.

WORST HOTEL IN CARTEGENA

We were supposed to stay at the hotel 4 nights but checked out after 1 hour. The lobby area has no air condition. The room was nasty and the A/C was not working in the room. Even the hotel employees complained that the owner is doing nothing to improve the hotel. They said that quests are leaving and they are worried about their jobs. We would not have stayed there if it was free. My wife and I went down the road and found another hotel. It was very nice and enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Almirante.

dirty room made it feel like i was staying at motel 6. lobby was a zoo, too many people, not enough workers. there was a very sweet lady at the counter that was the only glimmer of hope in this otherwise terrible establishment. the young lady, i think her name was Julia, did everything she could to assist us. poor thing was overworked as 5 people rushed her at once. the manager walked by and offered no assistance to any customer, just simply rushed into her office. 3 stars for Julia, 0 for the rest. the buffet was not worth it as the guests push and shove, and it was impossible to find a seat to enjoy the cheap, yucky food. never staying here again.

Hotel Costa del Sol

The hotel is in a neat location just across the road from the ocean. Not bad if your with a group that likes the beach and the water. The hotel has a pool as well. The hotel food is buffet style which is good and their wireless internet worked quite well but that is as far as good goes.
There was no visible access for handicapped persons. The hotel is not equipped to handle internet bookings as it took nearly a half hour with me having to download my own receipt for them to grasp the concept. The room was not dirty but was badly worn with the electrical outlet at the head of the bed giving off sparks and cutting the lights on and off if you sat or layed on it, which indicates a potential fire trap. You pretty much had to kick the door to get it to open. The hotel was and appears to be popular with the locals but I do not recommend it for non spanish speaking travelers.

Péssima experiência. O quarto que ficamos fedia mofo. Limpeza duvidosa. Os espelhos manchados e o chão ensebado. O chuveiro estava qurbrado só funcionava a água gelada. O ar não estava gelando bem. A Tv não funcionou. Café da manhã horrível. Pouquíssimas opções de fruta. Pão tinha duas opções. Não tinha queijo nem iogurte. Simplesmente péssimo. Unico ponto positivo é a localização. Não recomendo para ninguem e não volto. A piscina estava em manutenção funcionando apenas em um local o que gerou muita aglomeração. No quarto tinha insetos e baratas. Odiei minha estadia.

Espero la devolución por esta reservación, no ocupe la habitación, cambié de Hotel.

Le hace falta mucho mantenimiento a las instalaciones, en la habiatacion que estabamos no tenia puerta ni cortina la regadera del baño. Toda el agua se salia a la habitación. También el aire acondicionado no es individual por habitacion y como las ventanas son grandes no enfria del todo bien. Habia cucarachas en las habitaciones. De ahi en fuera el personal fue muy amable.

Personal amable y accesible, buen aire acondicionado, misma comida pero se dejaba comer, buena iluminación, refigeradora en la habitación.
Cucarachas mandingas en el baño, puerta de habitación y del baño deterioradas, recepción calurosa (no se cómo trabaja el personal allí), piso del restaurante resbaloso.

Infelizmente a estadia foi muito ruim. O hotel tem um cheiro péssimo e instalações antiquadas. Precisei trocar de quarto pois era muito precário.
