I BOOKED THIS HOTEL ,BECAUSE YOUR ADVERTISEMENT SHOWS IT HAS TWO BEDROOMS,BUT WHEN I ARRIVE IT HAS ONLY ONE BEDROOM .
THE NEXT DAY THEY CHANGE THE ROOM FOR ME ,BECAUSE WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE TAP CABINET AND ALL MY UNDERWEAR AND SOCKS BECAME WET.
SECOND I BOOKED FOR TWO PERSONS AND I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO LET A LOCAL VISIT MY ROOM .
THIS BOOKING WAS A SCAM AND I WANT A GREAT PORTION OF MY MONEY BACK .
THE ONLY THING THAT WAS GREAT ,WAS THE STAFF !

Location is great. Hotel is not as glamorous as the pictures. Room was average. Old and lots of need for touchups. But overall it’s in a good location, breakfast is ok, and air conditioning was great!

We arrived around 9 am from the airport so our room wasn't ready yet. The reception desk allowed us to change and leave our bags with them so we can explore the city. They even carried our bags up to our room for us when our room was ready. The hotel was clean and rooftop patio has a wonderful view of the city. The included breakfast was a good portion and left us ready for the day. Would highly recommend this hotel!

From beginning to end, our stay here was fantastic. The hotel arranged our transport from the hotel and we were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. Our room was large, luxurious and clean with great AC and a fan. The location is in the centre of the Old Town and within walking distance to all the sites. The roof-top restaurant is lovely and a great place to watch the sun go down with a cold beer. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff - they are amazing!!! So friendly and helpful, they couldn't have been more accommodating, especially when I got ill on the second day. They helped my partner arrange a doctor and get medication, and then made me soup (even though it wasn't on the menu). All the staff were brilliant, but a special mention to Camilla for taking care of us so well. It was very much appreciated and we would have no hesitation recommending this hotel. We hope to return to Cartagena within the next couple of years and will definitely be booking again.

The Hotel Royal Cartagena is so conveniently located in a very good location to shop in stores and 5 mins walk to the mall. Most of all the staff here is so very friendly and helpful! The room is very clean even has Netflix. I couldn’t ask for a better place! So happy we chose here.

Its a small hotel. It only has 13 rooms. Rooms are on the 3rd floor and does not have an elevator. That was not a major problem for us but it may be for some people. Staff is very professional and helpful. Rooms very clean and spacious. The best about this hotel is the location. Its almost right in the middle of the city. You can walk everywhere. Also, our breakfast was included and was very good. If what you are looking for is to be close to all restaurants in the city and dont mind staying in a small hotel, I recommend you stay.

Unfortunately the ac is very weak , more like a fan really, when people talk outside is like talking on your ear , is loud … I had a very hard time to really rest to enjoy my day . The stuff are amazing , friendly , caring always wants to help. The food is simple , nothing much.

The hotel was a great place to stay. It is set in the right location especially if you’re looking to explore the town and eat some great food. The staff was extremely accommodating and always happy to help. I do wish the hot tub was actually hot when we tried to use it but other than that we had a great time here.

The property is inside the the walled city. Close to everything. The location is actually at the end of the main street. Not too bad.

Employees are the Best. Cindy speaks english well. She gave us advice about \"Do's and Don't\" in Cartagena. She offered us so much help during our stay. Covid test. Tours. Resto and etc.

Erik was very nice too. English is not too bad.
He always open the door for us in the middle of the night.

There's a hot tub at the 4th Floor.
There's alot of oeople al the time because the morning Breakfast is there.

I'll stay here again next time.

Hidden gem in middle of everything

Great value. Really nice roof top for lounging or drinking. There’s a hot tub. The view is awesome. The rooms are nice. Breakfast is included. And I think it is a really good part of town for a tourist.

Overall, I enjoyed staying there. Rooms were clean and fairly updated. The in-room safe/lockbox was difficult to use/useless to me though. The a/c unit in my room was drippy, but they quickly switched me to another room. The included breakfast was good. Wish they could extend the Jacuzzi operation hours to a later time so guests could use it after a long day of sightseeing or dinner.

Camila and the ladies at the restaurant in the rooftop including the chef, they were all really kind and friendly. I had lunch yesterday and food was delicious. Breakfast is simple but good enough to fill you up and you can change and preorder your breakfast daily.

Just not right! The bed is not really a full size bed. It is two put together and the middle is really odd and uncomfortable. The room could be cleaner and needs a serious update. This is really a hostel quality place. Not worth it whatsoever.

Great staff at this hotel. I would certainly stay here again. The rooms are a little small, but it was perfect for my needs. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the room I booked did not come with a fridge. However, the staff was willing to store perishable goods in their fridge for me.

Great location, that's it.

Our room didn't even have any toiletries, no extra towels or toilet paper, and there was someone else's hair in the shower. The jacuzzi on the roof top that is pictured is EMPTY and they don't fill it with water for some reason, so that was something else that was disappointing. The ONLY thing that this hotel has going for it is a good location, air conditioning, and a decent mattress. Not what we expected and looks nothing like the photos.

Great location, but...

The staff was very nice as it says in many reviews. However the hotel is much older then shown in pictures. The area is great but too much traffic for my uber rides, but still loved location. Room sheets floor were dirty. When I took shower entire bathroom flooded cause door didn't close and I didn't notice in time, water went into the bathroom. I asked for hair dryer I got it. They kept my luggage. No elevator had to take and bring down my very heavy suitcase. The worst thing I am upset about is that they have a so called restaurant that 3 times they changed timings on me. I was in mood to spend evening in my room and they kept delaying time. Finally front desk said they will open at 8pm. I went back in my room and a guy came to inform me its open which I thought was great. I go up and its total darkness and the same guy is doing something in the kitchen without even turning on lights. Few mins later while I am admiring the nice view atleast, he puts a plate down and says dinner. I am total shocked. He warmed it up in a microwave and it was fish. I don't eat fish and I am not eating old food. Very disappointed. I had to get ready and go out for dinner then. Was very disappointed.

Surprise dinner

For some unknown reason, we were served dinner at night. It was a real surprise to us. I'd say everything was really great and we are very pleasantly surprised with the entire stay. Only one negative thing I would say is that having laundry done at the hotel was pretty expensive for South America

I'm glad I chose only one night

All I can say is, thank God I only reserved one night. The tiny safe available in the room was broken. The AC appears to run on its own even though a remote is available because I tried to cut it off at one point and couldn't. When I first walked in, it smelled like bug sprayand apparently that didn't help if it were for the mosquitoes because I saw mosquitoes as if there were standing water drawing them in the room. I was afraid of the Z virus and actually going to the breakfast on the rooftop,I want feeling well at all. The staff were helpful, that's about it.

Managing expectations

I booked this hotel before reading all the reviews and got scared when people started talking about the mold and poor condition of the hotel. Yes, the hotel is in an old building and definitely showing signs of age, and there were hard water stains in the bathroom, but nothing there was hazardous to my health. Everything there was pretty much what you would expect for a \"budget\" hotel in a tropical tourist town.

I had a strong consistent WiFi signal in my room. The breakfast was served up on a terrace where you get a lovely view of the rooftops of the old city. The staff were extremely friendly.

Quaint hotel in the heart of the walled city

This nice hotel, conveniently located in the heart, was very adequate for our two day stat in the city. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. You get to know everyone soon since it's a small place and you them at the delicious breakfast or when leaving the hotel, when they offer all sort of interesting and useful recommendations.

Wonderful Old City Hotel

I loved this hotel and the staff. Wonderful people, a great rooftop, and all questions answered. The location is wonderful, but it is right in the heart of the old city. So a lot of people and a lot of traffic. By night time, very little traffic and the neighborhood is pretty empty.

We were REALLY happy to find Patio de la Cruz. We moved to this cute hotel in the middle of our trip to Cartagena after a fairly disastrous experience elsewhere, so were inclined to find this place delightful regardless. However, it really was nice. The rooms are simple but decorated with charm and comfort. The bathroom was spacious and lovely and clean. Breakfast was included with our price - which was really reasonable - and was served on their roof terrace which has great views over the roofs of old town Cartagena.
The staff seemed genuinely interested in us and wanted to help us in any way they could. The owner/manager speaks a little English and was also very canny and helpful.
We were travelling as a family of 5.

Comfortable stay

Close to a few plazas. The rooms are decent. The WiFi is questionable in some rooms. Breakfast is nice on the terrace. For what it costed, it's worth it if you want to be in the centro. Id recommend bocagrande.
