The staff were wonderful, we did run into some hiccups with the door alarm going off and since it wasn’t able to get fixed they switched us into another room.
The breakfast was descent for being a hostel :) I will have to unfortunately complain about how the room wasn’t really clean nor the bathroom.

The beds and little cubes are great. Some of the rooms at the far ends don’t get much air at night, so try to get rooms a bit more in the center. The stairs are very steep, so if you have issues with climbing stairs this could be an issue. The carbonara and carpaccio were delicious. The watermelon margarita was not great.

Me quedé acá 5 días y la verdad disfruté mucho tiene un rooftop y piscina depende de tus planes y restaurante hasta las 11 pm. La Casa Movida Hostal est un endroit fort sympathique et parfaitement bien situé afin d’explorer Cartagena à pieds. L’accueil y est excellent et le rapport qualité prix est difficile à battre. Le restaurant italien à même l’auberge sert aussi de très bons plats à prix raisonnable (pour Cartagena).

This place wasn’t 5 star living but I would definitely stay here again based off value. Pizza spot in the lobby was absolutely amazing. Probably some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Only thing is it’s a hostel so you need to take a shower sooner than later to still have hot water.

At breakfast the food safety of the cook was not proper and the service as well not adequate.
At the roof top were given wrong information and when we asked if we could bring drinks from the fridge of the hotel they never came back with an asset.
Our room on the first night of the stay the bed was not made, and only one roll of toilet paper was in the room, the sink didn’t work well, and the soap of the bathtub was only water. And in the room there was no trash can.
The minifridge was great as well as the prices.

This Hostel is right in the middle of the Cartegena activities . It’s a very quick walk to the Clock Tower . There are superb dining and night life options. I felt safe inside . The room was clean with the rainforest shower . Diego and the entire front desk staff were very nice and knew English. You do have to walk up stairs because there is no elevator. That didn’t bother me . There is no window in the room I stayed in . Breakfast was included. I really enjoyed the fresh cooked arepas with pineapple jam . Mama’s Pizza is part of the property and the Pizza was thin crust and tasty . There is a 24 hour pharmacy across the street.

Came back to the hotel after a late night and was treated like trash by the staff. I was polite, showed my room key upon request even tho the front desk agent recognized me. Ok fine. He still treated me and my gf like trash. He was especially disrespectful to her. Maybe working nights has him in a bad mood. But in a dangerous area youd like to rely on the staff for help and not feel like theyre out to get you. And the pool is a dark dirty little pond.

In the middle of the walled city! Loved everything about our room- the bunk beds were large and comfortable. The room quickly cooled down even w the 85 humidity. Our balcony was shared but you hardly noticed your neighbors. They provide towels, have shampoo & body wash. It’s conveniently placed near pharmacy, clothes stores and coffee shops. The staff here are wonderful and helpful! The pool is small but def relaxing with the open roof. There’s no elevator, all stairs but that wasn’t an issue either. Breakfast was filling for us - eggs, toast and fruit! they also have a full bar and pizza, amazing pasta to order as well. Kid friendly as well. Just be mindful that you’re downtown - lots of noise, music, people and traffic. there’s a great nightlife here.

This was a really great property and well done. It encompasses so many different things it’s kind of like a resort in the heart of the old city. Huge rooftop bar, restaurant, cool architecture, pool, community kitchen if you wanted. I’ve been to cartagena many times and have always stayed at the same hotel. Because of a concern I had which I cleared up with the other hotel, now has me questioning if Id want go back anyway. I’m impressed with casa movida and it’s tremendous value.

The hostel is ok in general. The location is really good and the conditions are OK. I would've rage them higher but we sat a mouse in the common area so I can't. The staff is very slow and can make u go crazy. The rooms are in the upper floors and there is no elevator so be ready. Can't say it is bad but not worth its cost

Casa Movida is located in the walled city of Cartegena. It’s conveniently walking distance to different restaurants, plazas, and nightlife. It has a young and hip vibe. There’s a roof top bar. The room was very comfortable with good ac. The water pressure can be better but you can still take a shower. It can be noisy during the night due to the bars in the neighborhood. It didn’t bother me I still slept very well. It was definitely a great 4 night stay in Cartegena.

I’m almost 50 years old and had never stayed in a hostel before, so I was extremely nervous about staying in a hostel because of concerns around safety, security, health, sanitation, noise and feeling out of place because of my age. Well, Casa Movida quickly put my fears to rest. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with friendly faces and very clean accommodations. There is an on-site restaurant and a very cool rooftop bar at this property. The sleeping area had everything I needed to travel and be comfortable- AC, adequate lighting, comfortable mattress and plenty electrical outlets. The bathrooms were clean and allowed for privacy. Being that this hostel is in the middle of everything, it’s a convenient place to cool off or clean up throughout the day- just that convenience alone is worth the cost! There was a great mix of people (age, ethnicity, gender, nationality) so I felt completely comfortable as an almost 50 year old, black, solo male traveler from the United States. I was very pleased and now I’m very open to future hostel travel. I will most definitely stay here again!

We stayed in a private room. The room was fairly good and the bed was decent as well. We were given just one sheet for sleep which was a bit unfortunate. The bathroom was well sized and stocked. Reception was okay, we had to correct them that we had prepaid or we would’ve paid again! There is a downstairs restaurant that had decent food in a pinch. The location is very central in the walled city. Wouldn’t mind staying here again if needed

this was probably the best hostel i’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. if instagram aesthetic was a hostel it would be this place. big clean rooms with multiple bathrooms. You get a locker and a personal size safe next to your bed. Towels for rent, the breakfast was good and filling. The pizza restaurant was some of the best pizza i’ve ever had. I felt safe in the area as a solo female. Walking distance to the boat dock that goes to the islands.
