Lovely, stylish hotel that felt like home for 4 nights. Great location in the middle of Cartagena’s action, coolly converted house with a wonderful lounge. Very comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Nice rooftop pool and loungers. And it didn’t feel at all corporate or formulaic. Nice friendly staff and decent breakfast. No bar but they’ll bring you a drink in the lounge or on the balcony. Recommended by a fussy, style-conscious traveller!

I really like this hotel. I have stayed here three times since I started visiting Cartagena and each stay has been better than the last one. The location is in the center of the old city and you could not ask for it to be better. The staff is top-notch and go out of their way to make your experience enjoyable. The rooms are a little smaller (admittedly I do not stay in the larger ones) but the hotel size itself makes up for it. I appreciate them more and more every time I stay in Cartagena.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel – Highly Recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel. The location is perfect — close to everything but still quiet and relaxing, with beautiful views that we enjoyed from our room.

Breakfast was excellent, with fresh, delicious options to start the day. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome throughout our stay.

The room was spotless and cleaned twice daily, which made it feel extra luxurious. I also loved the high-quality L’Occitane toiletries — a really nice touch that added to the boutique feel.

Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. We would definitely return!

We could not have asked for a better location to stay in Cartagena in the Old City. The hotel was constructed in the 1500’s. Beautiful beamed ceilings and marble floors. The room was very comfortable. Small bistro tables on the terrace overlooking all the activities on the street in the evenings. So many restaurants to choose from.
Definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a restored colonial home in the heart of the walled city. The moment you arrive you are treated by the amazingly attentive staff to a lovely welcome drink. The public areas of the hotel are absolutely stunning. The breakfast is included and is delicious choice between American and Colombian breakfast along with fresh tropical fruit and freshly squeezed juices. Our room a
smaller than we expected, especially the bathroom (there was no counter space for our toiletries). The view out the window was gorgeous. One suggestion I have for the hotel is put some music by the rooftop pool to improve the vibe.

Be careful with over spending, they offer to call you a taxi for the airport that charge you 90000 vs the normal rate of 20-25000 pesos. Also no ADA facilities

We loved staying in this boutique hotel inside the walls of Cartagena. The decor is colonial with all the modern amenities. Breakfast was very good. Martin and Cristian helped us make dinner reservations and a boat excursion to a beach property on the islands. They both were wonderful! Shopping and great restaurants were within walking distance. We absolutely would stay here again. Thank you for an amazing experience!

This is a quaint small hotel located in the walled city.
The rooms are great but beware of the ones that are facing the street because Cartagena can be noisy at night.
Super nice pool, perfect to cool down after all the walking around the city.
The best part of this hotel? The people who work here are just wonderful! Friendly and always have a smile, a recommendation and sometimes a glass of cold wine before you head out to enjoy the night in Cartagena.
Another wonderful thing is the breakfast! To die for… you will enjoy fresh fruits and juices. Yummy Colombian foods if you feel adventurous or pancakes and waffles if you are missing home.
I want to thank Martin from reception and Juan Camilo from the hotel staff for making our stay wonderful.

I had a very good experience with my stay at Casa de Coliseo. First when I arrived I was greeted by Christian checked us in and provided us with a map of Cartagena and suggestions for food, drinks, tourist attractions, money exchange etc. When he says “I’m here to serve you” he really is. I must have called him several times throughout the day and he was helpful and pleasant each time. Now the hotel is very safe and secure. Doors to the hotel have a camera and electric buzzer to be let in. Hotel is beautiful, the furniture and architecture throughout capture a very colonial feel with rustic touch. Everyday I would see staff cleaning everyday day keeping the hotel tidy and clean. Breakfast lounge and balcony are wonderful with good view of the busy streets. Breakfast was included with a good and fresh selection. I stayed in the standard room which wasn’t big but the bed was cozy and pillows were awesome (I had great deep sleep). Bathroom and shower was nice with hot water. Staff is very attentive, rooms were always clean when we stepped out and when we would go out for dinner beds were prepped for us to come in and get rest. Room had typical amenities. The location was also a plus cause everything was just a 1 -10 min walk. There is a pharmacy across the street just in case you need it. Lastly distance from hotel to airport is like 15-20 min. I highly recommend and would stay again.

We spent 4 nights at casa del Coliseo and when choosing several hotels´reviews I was amazed at how many good ones Casa del Coliseo had...Well, I must say that all those nice reviews were right. The hotel staff is amazing, service beyond my expectations, the room is very comfortable, breakfast really good. Excellent l´Occitane amenities in the bathroom. Cleanliness was exceptional. The hotel is very well located, within the walled city and there are very nice restaurants nearby... despite the neighborhood noise, I think the hotel did a very good job soundproofing the rooms even if we had a balcony right where to the \"action\" at night happens. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again..

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. I would’ve given 0 rating if I could. The place had bedbug, and the next morning we woke up there was about 100 bites on my wife’s face, hands and legs, that only happens if the room is super infested.
Other than that, the whole hotel smelled really bad. The room was not clean, super small, and dark. Was not at all similar to the pictures. Our friends got a suite at a nice boutique hotel for the same price, but it was sold out so we ended up at this place with a terrible customer service. We didn’t see the manager the whole time, and couldn’t even talk to him on the phone. Our whole vacation was ruined because of bedbug, and we had to throw out lots of our stuff that was infected and was too risky to take back home, and they didn’t reimburse us for that.

We would not stay here again despite the fact the staff and hotel were wonderful. The hotel is near a night club and we could not sleep at all. I know this is not the hotel’s fault, but the whole point of the hotel is to get some sleep. That’s why we would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful gem in Cartagena

we have stayed in Cartagena about 10 times. This has been our favorite hotel ever. The staff is beyond excellent. We were happy with the location, convenience and room quality, but the wonderful staff really makes this place a hidden gem. We have stayed in what is considered one of the best hotels in town (Santa Clara) and prefer the Casa de Coliseo. With only 13 rooms, the staff really gets to know you and makes you feel at home.

The property is beautiful, the owners paid a lot of attention to details. Our room was small but beautiful and functional, everything was in the right place and we were greeted with a personalized printed card welcoming us in one of the side tables. The breakfast area is also beautiful, decorated with taste. Breakfast was really good and generous. Even the music you listen while having breakfast was nice and at the right volume level. Casa del Coloseo is quaint and beautiful. The service and attention superb. Very comfortable rooms with top linens and bedding. The staff was very friendly and attentive to all our needs, suggesting places to visit and eat at. Breakfast was cooked to order and served beautifully. If you want to experience the traditional Cartagena in every sense of the word, come here. I spent my childhood in Colombia and I was transported back to the days of my grandparents home. That’s how I felt, at home. Great experience. Can’t wait to return.

By far one of the best hotels in the world! Established in 400 years old mansion, the space is very unique and simply gorgeous. With high celings and historic decor, it holds a wide collection of black contemporary art, vintage books and high quality furnishings. Hotel stuff go far beyond their responsibilities. Adding little touches like fresh and adding a little marble rock on my papers so they don’t fly away! Real plants and white candles in the evenings create majestic vibe you never want to leave. Every element in the hotel is thought out. Breakfast is delicious and overall service is first class. The location is in the heart of Cartagena’s historical neighborhood. We extend our one night booking to 10 days at Casa del Coliseo! Impeccable.

Our initial room on the 2nd floor was way too noisy from street noise and in the bathroom we could hear people talking from the next room. They quickly changed the room and then the 2nd night upgraded us to a fantastic room. The common areas for eating breakfast and relaxing were lovely and the breakfast was delicious. What a Gem!

What a little gem of a boutique in the heart of Cartagena's old city! We stayed three nights at family-owned and run Casa del Coliseo in a suite with balconies looking out over Calle del Porvenir. Service was impeccable, whether on arrival, at breakfast or at the pool later in the day where it was nice to cool off after a day of exploring the sights in Centro and Getsemani. The hotel also arranged a massage for my wife in our room and pickup and drop-off at the airport. The room was huge, with dark wood beamed high ceiling, king-sized bed and one of the largest showers I have ever seen with double rain shower heads. Prices were modest. I highly recommend.

Thanks to all the staff! And thanks to Martín for the restaurant recommendations and guidance. Hotel is beautiful and very well kept and super clean. Brekafast was amazing with a fresh fruit bowl to start, bread and pastries and different breakfast choices like arepa con huevo.

We had a great experience at this hotel! Room and all public areas were all well decorated and very clean. The staff are all very nice and helpful, and the included breakfast was amazing (we looked forward to it every day!). The only issue we had was with the nightclub across the street, which is very loud, however with the doors and drapes shut all the way it only really bothered us on Friday & Saturday nights when there was a lot of yelling and honking out on the street between 4-5am. If we were to return to the hotel we would request a room away from the nightclub. Beyond that the hotel exceeded our expectations and we greatly enjoyed our stay.

Beautifully restored hacienda with attentive, gracious service. Conveniently located in the old town of Cartegena. Lovely breakfast room with good breakfast made to order. Would definitely return.
