The location of the hotel was very noisy with drunks outside the hotel. I’m writing this at 2am with my young children awake.
The hotel wanted to help us when we checked in and allow us to cancel but unlike booking dot com, Expedia made that impossible.
I will never book through Expedia again. Ever.

The room was everything you would expect and the staff did a nice job. They were mostly absent, which is a good thing. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because the room was really nice but not spectacular. I've stayed in some amazing properties. This one is quite nice, but not amazing.

It seems that the property is only geared for Spanish speaking guests. It’s almost impossible to communicate in English. The property is charming and well presented, and is very close to everything. But it is noisy. You will hear every sound from other guests in the other apartments. There is also no elevator, which makes it hard to drag your luggage on the wooden stairs. The linen and pillows are synthetic materials which are uncomfortable for sleeping. There is also no staff at the reception desk and you communicate only via WhatsApp.

Location was amazing. However, they need to pay more attention to the cleaning. I was very disappointed to see that they didn’t changed the sheets of my bed. They were full of hairs and weren’t only head hairs also body hairs. The site don’t have reception so it was not possible to communicate with somebody to come and change the sheets. Those kind of details are the ones that they should take care more.

A great apartment let down by simple issues.

Overall the apartment itself is great, with some really nice character. However, The communication was bad: the phone number didn’t work, you couldn’t email them. Check in was lucky that the receptionist was there. Even then a phone number wasn’t given (the reception wasn’t occupied 24/7, and there were things we needed). Security of the property wasn’t the best, anyone could enter the building, the locks on the doors didn’t work and we had to really ask to get them fixed, not great when you’re travelling with kids in central Cartagena. The location was excellent.

Family trip to historic Cartagena de las Indias

The customer service was amazing. The staff was very cordial, responsive and accommodating. The apartment 1 (superior, sleeping 4) had great colonial character and was very spacious. It is also very conveniently located in the middle of everything and it is busy day and night that means it could be an issue if you are sensitive to noise (not an issue for us at all). The small pool on the rooftop is great to refresh and the balcony is nice to watch the busy Calle Roman. The only thing that could be improved is the overall cleanness of the floor.

We stayed in the one-bedroom apartment facing the street. The location is right in the center of the old town. Having a small kitchen is really nice, and with the 24H minimarket next door, you have easy access to basic groceries (coffee, bread, cheese, eggs, etc). Fruit vendors are out front in the morning. The room has a shared balcony where you can watch the lively chaos and street activity.

The property is clean and secure. There isn't anyone on site, but the door buzzer (in and out access) is managed by someone at their other property. Occasionally you might have to wait a few minutes for someone to answer, but most of the time it's an immediate response.

The only serious drawback to this property is the noise. The street is really loud with people and dance music until 2am every night, and sometimes people just sit and drink in the street playing loud music when things close. Earplugs are not enough. And, the walls are thin. If apartment neighbors have to get up early, you will too.

The property is in a very nicely restored old building right in the center of Old Town Cartagena. Conveniently located, basically near everything. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive, they were truly second to none. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking to stay in the old town.

Beautiful place in a great location.

Casa Cordoba Roman was great. We got Room 3 which had two levels which was great with the kids. It has a balcony to look out on the streets of Cartegena and all it's action. Which it does have a LOT of action. The great location comes with it sound from the action outside, late into the mornings. That is the nature of Cartagena. They helped us get transport to the airport, and were accommodative with anything we asked for. Plus the pool on the roof was great with the kids and provided a cool perspective of the old buildings around you. Highly Recommended.

Great authentic local apartment feel but also with all of the modern in room amenities you may need. It is right in the middle of the city and walking distance from everything I’m the Walled City. Because it is right in the middle of the street you can hear the hussle and bussle of the city from about 8am-12pm but I didn’t mind it. We didn’t spend much time inside the room bc there is soooo much to do. By the time I got back I was tired enough that the noise didn’t matter getting to sleep

The best asset this place has is the staff, specially Kelly. Her customer service is top notch. When we stay at Casa Cordoba they made us feel special. The place has a little pool on the top roof that is super cozy and romantic. Our room was a duplex with a little kitchenette/ living room in the first floor and our bedroom and bathroom was on the second floor (this is an open area design). The location was great. Kelly helped us reserve a day trip to a hotel at Las Islas del Rosario (hotel San Pedro de Majagua) - very relaxing.

Definitely recommend this place.

The overall property is gorgeous. The balcony overlooks the walled city. We are close to the beach, shops and restaurants. The price was excellent and the safety and communication was top notch. The only problem was, on our last day, the water went out and they couldn't get it fixed. They did offer us their sister hotel to freshen up in though.

I would say the property is located in a good area with lots of restaurants and shopping. However, there are tons of people and the moment you step into your street or leave your building, you’re accosted by someone trying to sell you some trinket, tour, or just asking for money. The property was clean, but our room had no windows. The door to our room was glass and led to the hallway and there was another glass door separating our room from our neighbors. You could hear everything. You had to to use a key to unlock and lock the room door every time you wanted to get out and it didn’t work very well. Struggled every single time And worse, the property was locked at all times so someone had to let you in or out with a key that only the staff has if you wanted to go anywhere. It was very inconvenient. Good WiFi, airconditioning and ceiling fan in the room. No restaurant or coffee on site. I would not recommend this hotel. We actually checked out after the first night.

Captures the character and excitement of Cartagena. You are in the heart of the excitement and sometimes that’s a bit noisy just outside the hotel but the trade off is a wonderful experience. Terrific staff always monitoring the door. Very helpful and the hotel is clean and well maintained. The small rooftop pool was a delight.

The location of this property is great and there is a lovely little pool on top. There is little privacy and you can easily hear into the next room and the hallway. If, like us, you are unfortunate enough to have rude guests staying in the hotel this can disturb a relaxing experience. While we were staying there guests came in after three in the morning and were loudly talking in their rooms and the hallway. We could hear everything. Aside from check-in, we only saw the house keeping staff who were extremely nice but if you want to ask any tourist questions the property is not set up to help you.

I have now stayed at Casa Córdoba both Roman and Estrella and I would recommend Estrella for more privacy. However Roman is closer to more restaurants and night life. The room was a little cramped and the walls were a little thin. The staff is very kind and pleasant.

Casa Cordoba Roman was wonderful. It’s located quite nicely - on a street with small shops and a panaderia, only two short blocks from the Plaza Del Reloj where you can easily grab a cab to Bocagrande. The staff is very very helpful and kind. Finally, the rooftop pool is a great way to pass the time with a book if you don’t want to venture out into the city.

The location, near the Clock Tower square, in the Old City of Cartagena was ideal for exploring this historical city. It is on a quiet side street and has lots of shops (including a mini grocery store) close by.
The furnishings and fixtures are a bit \"tired\" and could use updating. Even though it has a small kitchenette (oven/cooktop, fridge, and microwave) don't get excited about cooking or preparing meals as the dishes and cutlery are not sufficient for a full meal. The dishes even have gold trim which makes them incompatible with the microwave which is not very convenient.
Lighting in the bathroom is also quite dull -- hard to see clearly.
The rooftop \"pool\" isn't much larger than a hot tub, but is lovely to cool off in this tropical environment.
What this place lacks in amenities it has in location, so give it a try!

Wish I could live at Casa Cordoba Roman

We rented the 3 room apartment for a few days. Close to everything. Food/beer/wine store downstairs. Pool on the roof. It really doesn't get any better. AC was pumping. Nice and cold in all our rooms. Staff was amazing and always helpful. My Spanish is terrible so I'd often go back and forth with the Google translate app which was useful and mutually amusing. Best part is Alquimico is a 30 second walk. My favorite bar/restaurant in the entire world!

Great value, location and ambiance.

The hotel was well-located right in the center of Cartagena. The staff were friendly and helpful. The A/C was excellent and the beds were comfortable. The only issue was that the bedrooms were upstairs and accessible by a rather narrow winding staircase. However, the exotic African decor of the apartment more than made up for this inconvenience. It was great to have so much space to spread out and have more privacy than a regular hotel room.

Good apartment but a lot of street noise

Spacious apartment with refrigerator, microwave and stove. Place is clean. AC and hot water work great. Small roof top pool but bigger than we imagined based on photos. Our children used it a lot.

Wifi access very spotty and inconsistent.

There is no receptionist in the building. Housekeeping is sometimes in charge of letting you in or out of the building. If they are working away from the ringing bell, you may have to wait a bit before they open the door for you. It is usually a couple of minutes but on one occasion we had to wait 20 mins to get into the building.

Great location, close to everything if you want to visit all main attractions and good restaurants.

Close too, unfortunately, to a lot of street noise at night. We were ok with people passing by all night. That was expected. What was unexpected was people congregating in the street after midnight outside the 24/7 supermarket next to the hotel and playing loud music with speakers. They didn’t stop until 5:30am. If you need or want to sleep a few hours every night, this will be a problem. It happened 3 of the 4 nights we stayed at the hotel. We reported the problem to the hotel the second time it happened. They may have called the police the following night. We think that that gave us at least one less noisy night.

We reserved a taxi through the hotel for a pickup at the airport. Unfortunately, our reserved taxi never showed up. The hotel didn’t know what happened.

Love the character of the house. Staff very friendly and always willing to help. Please remember to be culturally sensitive when travelibg to another country and respect their traditions as you expexct visitors visiting your own country to do it. The people working at the hotel can not stop the noise of tourists walking around or the continous music and performers that entertain 24/7 around the area. You do not go to New Orleans or Seville during the fair and ask the locals to stop their celebrations because you want to sleep. Then book a hotel out of this area when you will not be exposed to the noise. Also treat the employees with respect they are people like you and me...not your servants. We were respectful and got the best service we could get not only at the hotel but everywhere else. Cartagena is a city with extremely loving and kind people. We will definitely return to Casa Roman not only for the excellent central location and service but also the rooms were comfortable , clean, has a kitchen in case you want to cook sometimes and save some money. You can practically walk to Getsemani, San Diego neighborhood, San Felipe, Convention Center, etc. It also has a next door Supermarket open 24 hours and several drug stores at a walking distance.

We had an amazing stay for a great price. Kelly with the reception went out of her way to assist us with local recommendations and excursions. Her responsiveness and English language skills were very helpful. The room was just as described online and the location is perfect for shops, restaurants, and transportation in the Centro neighborhood within the walled city. Truly a special place and a wonderful experience.

Great downtown location, nice room with loft

Casa Cordoba Roman is right in the middle of Cartagena's funky Old City. We walked out the front door and immediately were immersed in the rhythm of the city. The room, a loft with a small kitchen on the first floor and bedrooms above, was great. And, as a bonus, it had the best hot shower of any hotel we stayed in during our two weeks in Colombia and Ecuador.

We really enjoyed this hotel for the price it’s a really good deal! The location is so perfect because you are right in the middle of city near the clock tower. Everything is a short walk away so it’s very convenient! There is also a grocery store right beside it which is nice. The one thing we didn’t like was the fact that we had to get someone to open the door every time we came back it was inconeveniet but I understand why they have it at least it feels more safe! The room was nice too really clean. Our room was facing the street so it can get a bit loud at night until about 3am didn’t really bother us but some
People may not like that. Overall I would definitely come back again!
