Amazing! The staff was truly incredible. Sheik, the manager went above and beyond to answer all my questions. The hotel is very authentic and very much a boutique hotel that feels very true to the city. Getting in and out was very easy; there was always someone at the reception 24/7. I would definitely recommend staying here rather than a fancier hotel if you’re looking for a more unique experience in Cartagena. Thank you Alfiz for making my Cartagena trip even better!

The staff was very friendly and helpful despite not speaking much English. We were able to communicate with our broken Spanish. The room was cute, clean and wonderful, breakfast was also wonderful. We felt safe indoors despite outside was not safe. Only complaint is the wifi was not working for any of us, there were 4 of us on this reservation with different phone carriers and none of us were able to connect to the hotel wifi. Connecting to the wifi at the sister hotel down the street was fine and no issues.

It was not a great stay, we stayed at many nice places while in Colombia and this was by far the worst. I booked when the hotel was under different management and the reviews were good then. I would not recommend it was so noisy we could not sleep at night as we were in a room which opened to the street below. The breakfast was only ok.

Small boutique hotel with modest but comfortable, clean room which was a good size and had an excellent shower. Small pool is a nice bonus. Good breakfast and complimentary coffee in the library.
Staff very welcoming and helpful, while location in the old town is perfect and not too noisy.
Would happily recommend and stay there again.

Beautiful property in the heart of the historical city. Wonderful service and good breakfast, loved the options. The plunge pool was an added treat for the morning.
The only thing I’d say is request a quiet room if you are a light sleeper like me! Other than that, a perfect overnight stay, thank you so much!

This is a great value property. It’s small and doesn’t really have a lobby so the door is always locked but answered quickly 24/7. Free breakfast but the cofffeeshop Epoca that is a block away is stellar. So much right by this hotel and it has an excellent location. If you are looking for a lobby bar or big pool - this isn’t the place for you. If you are looking for small, quiet and friendly - then this is the place for you. Note that this place was dry in the rooms which isn’t always found in the tropics. It’s very clean and dry.

This is a breathtakingly beautiful hotel. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing hotel experience in Cartagena, this is it! The staff is so helpful, professional, and welcoming - we had a wonderful experience with Maria! They will also help you arrange transportation to and from the airport. The breakfast is delicious, the pool is quaint and relaxing, and everything was clean and it’s in a perfect location. We HIGHLY recommend staying here!

Absolutely charming little hotel in a perfect location inside the old walled city of Cartagena. Close to many great restaurants and some of the best shopping in the city yet very quiet. Walkable to most major attractions. The staff was awesome - so sweet and helpful and speak quite a bit of English which was helpful. Air conditioning worked great to keep our room cool and sleepable. Beds was large and comfortable. Very spacious room on two levels in a 300 year old house. Great breakfast every
Morning. This place is perfect. The only downside is the pool is quite small but you can still pop in for a refreshing dip in the afternoon heat. Highly recommended.

Lovely place, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was off the street, facing into the courtyard, so very calm and quiet despite the busyness just outside the doors. Great airconditioning, comfortable bed, good shower, wonderful breakfast served daily. The pool is tiny and never saw anyone use it or the jacuzzi. May be a difficult for those with vision and mobility problems as the ground floor is not level and there are small steps that are not well marked (I almost took a header and quickly learned to be very careful). Still highly recommend!

This is a lovely old hotel, renovated while keeping its character. Location is great in the old town but a very touristy place. Only downside, we booked their only suite a year in advance for our stay and received confirmation of our booking. When we arrived we were placed in a standard room as they had double booked the suite. We had no prior notification

I was very impressed by the helpfulness and hospitality received by the staff at Alfiz hotel They assisted me with all of my inquiries and were pleasant to interact with. The welcome sangria drink was delicious and refreshing! The room was absolutely comfortable and allowed us to relax between exploring the city. The location is well situated in the core of the city, with plenty of restaurants in the area. We happened to visit during the week of Cartagena independence day in November and we were at the heart of the festivities happening in the main square. Although we were able to hear the noise from the parties, we had no problems with falling asleep through it. Breakfast was nice, although I did get bit by mosquitoes from the plants in the courtyard. Overall, I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Cartagena!

Alfiz Hotel is a good option for people who like a very quiet place. When we arrive we notice a lot of tranquility, little light and security, the staff always accompany you to the exit door that remains closed, impressed us. The construction is old, a different experience for those who usually stay in large hotels and enjoy rest at the Lobby/Bar.
Our room San Pedro Claver,
second floor, with no comfortable seats to rest, the city is very hot and we walk a lot, the seats are made of wood in tone with decoration but are not comfortable. The shower is a wonderful, good bed, soft pillows and clean sheets. The room is hot when you come in but when you turn on the air conditioning and the ceiling fan becomes nice.
Good breakfast included and very good attention.
This hotel has an excellent location and security. Recommended

Centuries old Spanish villa. Carina at front desk was great. I arrived hours early and they took good care of me. This is a historic family friendly place,. They do not permit night trades and that makes the place even safer.

Knocking on the wooden doors transports you to another era. It is a must for any history buffs. Withing walking distance of the walled city.

This hotel was amazing!! It's has a quirky, charming décor. Our room was massive with a wonderful balcony overlooking the street. Construction workers on the adjacent building started banging on the wall with hammers and this kept going on throughout the evening and the night. Fortunately, the front desk let us check-out that night without any charge so we could find a place with no construction noise throughout the night.

Alfiz hotel is located in the heart of the walled city in cartagena. The hotel has a unique, vintage vibe and was kept preserved. We had a loft style room located in front of the pool. The staff Manuel, Estella and Carina were very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. Estella’s breakfast was probably our favorite part in this trip. It is a highly recommended hotel and we would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at Alfiz was absolutely wonderful! The hotel itself is a beautiful colonial building, and is very well maintained. The staff is very attentive, and really went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable, even before check in. We stayed in the Indigenous room, and it was beautifully decorated. We were right by the breakfast area on the ground floor, but didn't have any issues with noise. The included breakfast was huge.. they brought out fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice and bread to start, then you choose from a selection of eggs, and traditional Colombian breakfast options (arepas, patacones...). We loved the pool, and the jacuzzi on the roof! They even turned the jacuzzi into a giant bubble bath for us! It was our honeymoon, so the staff went out of their way to decorate our room with rose petals and candles after dinner one night. Location is very safe and perfect walking distance to everything in the walled city. We were Do not hesitate to book Alfiz!!

The hotel does not allow any guests into your room. No friends or non registered guests are allowed in your hotel room. Apparently the staff assumes any non registered guest must be a sex worker. Run like a monastery. No music and smells like cleaning supplies

Beautiful Hotel in the Middle of the Old City

Alfiz was in the middle of the old city, making everything within walking distance. The new city was only a five minute drive. The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful and quaint. The staff was exceptional and extremely accommodating, they would arrange anything from dinner reservations to excursions. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cartagena.

This is a great little boutique hotel within the walled city of Cartagena. It's a great place to stay for sightseeing. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast (coffee, juice, fruit, eggs, etc.) is included in a beautiful outdoor setting. There is a small pool and hot tub available, as well as a library with a coffee machine.

Exclusive boutique hotel situated in Centro Historico close to the main plaza, clock tower and cathedral. Only 8 rooms here which means a quiet and tranquil experience. Main door is locked for security and front desk is manned by an experienced and knowledgeable team who rotate to work on all hotel responsibilities. We had a room with a balcony that overlook the cobbled street. Each evening when we are out for dinner the room is turned down and the balcony doors locked. Breakfast is a special experience with selection of eggs available with carbs and fruits. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Alfiz following our cruise!

We stayed at Alfiz for 5 nights. The hotel is generally in very good condition considering it is a few hundred years old. The staff here are amazing. We couldn't find a fault anywhere with them.Their breakfast is exceptional to say the least. Our room was also very quiet.
We would stay here again without a doubt if we head back there.

This small boutique hotel in the old walled city of Cartagena de Indias is delightful. Easy to walk the city from here. The staff is the most friendly and helpful I have ever experience. There are just 8 rooms so they always have time for you and even anticipate your needs like arranging transfers to airport and cabs or restaurants that you can reach on foot. It is also so quaint and decorated with antiques from Spanish Colonial period. Because it is an old building the lighting is not the best and it is not the most modern baths but goes perfect with the atmospher and quite fine. Not a place for children.

The staff was lovely, kind and accommodating. It is a beautiful hotel in the heart of the walled city, so you're in the middle of everything. The only downside to our pretty room is that it was on the ground floor and you could hear everything that was going on in the kitchen/breakfast area.
And speaking of breakfast, they served a really delicious and fresh breakfast each morning.

I stayed at the Alfiz with two friends, and we all absolutely loved our time there. The hotel itself is lovely--charming, comfortable, and full of character. It's located in the center of the Old City, and was at most a 10 minute walk from anything we wanted to see or do. However, the best part of the hotel is the staff. They were attentive, accommodating, and beyond helpful. They assisted us with everything from dinner reservations to day trips and a spa visit, and even helped us find a grocery store open late to get some medicine when a member of our group got sick. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Cartagena!

Stayed for 3 nights. Room was huge with a small balcony that looked over the street. Staff was incredibly helpful and extremely friendly as are all the people we met in Colombia. Hotel is walkable to anything in the walled city. The breakfast was huge and included wonderful fruits and breads. Could not have been happier with our choice in hotels. I would highly recommend the Alfiz Hotel to anyone.

Lovely hotel in good location within the walled city. Good service and really nice and comfortable place for a pleasant stay. And oasis in a hectic and warm and crowded area.

Nice location

Nice location in the heart of the historic city, clean boutique hotel. The rooms are too dark. The breakfast is not what we could expect for the price of the room but the staff is really available and kind.

Fantastic boutique hotel in Walled City

This hotel is a hidden gem. I wish I had stayed longer. The grounds are stunning, the service perfection and location ideal for the Walled City in Cartagena. Would go back in a heartbeat and will recommend to everyone I know!

Gorgeous Hotel at a Great Value in a Great Locatio

I can't think of a better hotel to stay in when visiting Cartagena, especially for the price. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the accommodations are very comfortable and staff is friendly and attentive. The location can't be beat - you're walking distance to everything. We had four friends staying the large, 2-story family room and could have comfortably fit probably two more it was so spacious. The gardens, pool, breakfast area, rooftop, balconies and rooms are all stunning and well appointed.

in the heart of the walled city

Alfiz Hotel is located in a central location of the walled city of Cartagena, close to the plaza/square. The front desk clerk spoke English and provided good information about what to see and how to stay safe in the City. He even offered to make some sandwiches as we arrived late and all eateries were closed. The hotel felt safe and clean. However, the furniture is rickety and old and the beds were not comfortable. The standard room and Jr. Suite were small. Upon booking, I had also submitted a request for additional beds in 2 rooms; however, the rooms turned out to be "too small to accommodate additional beds" and "no additional roll-out beds were available," according to the hotel's clerk. It would have been better if I was notified that additional beds would not going to be provided upon booking/request or at some point prior to arrival. Overall, I recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel with great staff

This a very well-located hotel, and it's delightfully designed, with rooms off a central courtyard where there's a small pool and where you have breakfast (which is yummy!) I had a ground floor room outside breakfast, but didn't get disturbed - it's a small hotel so there aren't an enormous number of guests. The rooms are lovely - excellent aircon (vital in Cartagena) and beautifully designed, with old-world charm. The bath / shower is part of the room and is enormous! Staff were very friendly and obliging; I lost my malaria pills and thought I'd left them at breakfast, so I asked the servers; but when I returned to the hotel reception told me that the chambermaids had found them in my room and they were safe! So there is a lot of attention to individual needs.

Spanish colonial house in historic quarter

Concierge Pedro was very kind and helpful, and spoke fluent English. The room was large with a loft, kitchen, and balcony facing the street but quiet at night. Breakfasts were hearty and included lots of fresh tropical fruits. Hotel staff were friendly and attentive. Location was in the heart of the historic quarter just 2 blocks from the Simon Bolivar square, cathedral, and Palace of the Inquisition and just 1 block from a fully stocked grocery store. Concierge was able to arrange various excursions including diving in the Rosario Islands marine national park. Excellent value for quality of accommodation and services.
