The outdoor pool was a highlight of our stay! The staff were great! AC worked very well, and the suite was cleaned every day.
The hotel is in a great part of the town…totally secure.
The staff has a very nice birthday gift for my sister who turned 70–flowers and a delicious cake.
Just a small mishap—the taxi driver that the hotel ordered didn’t show up in time at the airport. But we took an Uber, which was very convenient and cheaper. But the next time the hotel ordered a taxi to take us to the Aviary, it was fine…and the driver was very good. So we asked him to take us back to the airport as well.
A solid 5 stars! We’d go back in a heartbeat.

My daughter and I stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel and we would come back again! The property is well maintained- pools are beautiful! The staff - all of them are so friendly and responsive to the guests. They brought coffee to our room and afterwards had breakfast by the pool. We had standard room that was very spacious and practical for two women. Location is great too! Thanks again to all the friendly staff!! See you again!

From the moment we booked we knew we chose the right hotel. The staff was so helpful on planning our arrival, setting up tours, and making us feel welcome in an unfamiliar city.

The hotel itself feels like your own private house. The rooms were large, clean, and modern. The pools (yes plural) were a great amenity to relax from our sightseeing adventure. The staff was incredibly accommodating. And finally the location was perfect. I am very picky on hotels and we will definitely visit again.

I had a one bedroom loft and it was lovely. Clean and so spacious. There was a sitting room before entering the kitchen and living room. There is also a washing machine.

There’s also a lovely roof top pool and the hotel includes a selection of traditional coastal Colombian breakfast. I would stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel in September 2025 and we were completely satisfied with the experience. The following lists the positives for this place:
1. Location was excellent, very easy to walk to anything in the old city and surroundings. The street was not a main tourist street without much traffic, so the nights were quiet.
2. Room (really an apartment) was spacious with full kitchen (stove and refrigerator), washer/dryer combo, and cookware/eatingware, and toiletries.
3. Front desk staff was very cordial and helpful.
4. Good selections of hot breakfasts which were made fresh and delivered to the room at the requested time.
5. Housekeeping was excellent.
6. Entire property was in good condition

I can recommend this hotel without any reservations.

I highly recommend staying here and will definitely book again when I'm back in Cartagena. The location was amazing, in the old town and walkable to plenty restaurants, shops, and events. The staff went above and beyond for us, bringing complimentary breakfast to our room every morning at whatever time we requested, gave us a complimentary cake on our last day, and were always happy to answer questions. They provided a shuttle to the airport free of charge as well. When we went, the rooftop pool was under renovations, so we weren't able to use it, but the rest of the hotel was in impeccable shape. The room was large and very clean. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Cartagena.

The property is very clean. Sadly, many things in the room kept breaking. First the remote to the AC unit, then the A/C unit broke which required us to move to another room. Benjamin was always very helpful and friendly and assisted us as much as possible to relocate to another room. Now our bed size went from a King bed to a double bed. Furthermore, the bed was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Now in this new room the iron was broke and we also did not have a nice dinning area anymore.
The breakfast options offered were decent.
Our favorite front desk staff was Benjamin. He always greeted us and assisted us with anything we might have needed. I can not say the same for the night shift front desk guy ( don’t even know his name because he never introduced himself). We always greeted him but did not get that in return from him. Almost seemed like he doesn’t like his job.
Overall, nice place to stay. I can only recommend.

The place is terrific in terms of space, furnishings and location. We had a two bedroom two bathroom unit and loved our time there. The employees are very nice, but only two speak English so if you don't speak Spanish it could be a problem. Benjamin was incredibly attentive to our every need - even responding on WhatsApp during his time off. He is exceptional. They were doing some kind of work while we were there which made the entire place smell like turpentine. At first it was just in the common areas but it permeated our door and came into the unit. Additionally, the first night we had no hot water. They fixed it the next day, but it seems that it should not have happened. Also, do not go to this place for the pool. It is small and not particularly inviting.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The property is beautiful and peaceful, tastefully decorated, and well appointed. I had everything I needed in my suite and the breakfast delivered to my room each morning was delicious and a great start to the day. The staff were attentive and helpful, setting up cabs and spa treatments for me. The best part is the location—beautiful views of the surrounding historic Centro neighborhood and walkable to everything—shops, museums, galleries, restaurants and bars, banks, pharmacies, churches, and many live performances in the streets. I am absolutely returning to Cartagena and absolutely staying here when I do. A++ for this hotel!

This is a really nice hotel. Location is great, the terrace with a small pool has a beautiful view of the San Pedro Claver church, the staff is very welcoming. There are different options for breakfast and they bring it to your room always on time. They even upgraded our room the second night for the rest of our stay. Highly recommended!

We had an incredible stay here! It was the first stop on our Colombian honeymoon, and we felt so lucky to stay in the only room on the top floor, with a balcony and amazing views. The hotel is very peaceful and quiet, we had the rooftop pool to ourselves most of the time. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and had left us a very kind welcome for our honeymoon. The views of the surrounding city could not get better, and the location was perfect, right in the middle of the old town, so close to restaurants, bars, cafes and it felt very safe to walk around. The breakfast was delicious as well. 10/10, will recommend anyone who goes to Cartagena to stay here.

Incredible all around.

This was the best stay at any hotel I’ve ever had. It was my boyfriend’s birthday and they went above and beyond by beautifully decorating the room for him (upon request) and even majorly upgraded our room. We were provided amazing recommendations, the staff all felt like they really knew us and wanted us to have the best experience. The roof pool area is absolutely beautiful. I cannot recommend this place enough. Amazing location too within the walled city, not loud but still right there with all the things only steps away.

Very unique property. The location is amazing you can really walk to most things. The breakfast was great , a lot of options and delicious every time. The views are really pretty as well. My only complaint was noise , I think my room was not in a good location because two out if the three nights I stayed I could hear people laughing and screaming all night. We had the one bedroom apartment. It was big, AC worked great and having a washer and dryer was convenient. Breakfast is good and delivered each morning at set time. A beautiful rooftop pool area, the view is truly amazing. If you are looking for a relaxed hotel experience this may not be your best choice. Breakfast and housekeeping can make you feel like you are on a bit of a schedule. Very friendly and helpful staff but felt like we were continuously answering the door. Seems well suited for families or larger groups.

The good - friendly staff that is overall professional and helpful. Excellent location in historic center of walled city. Very clean. Responsive to requests.

The bad - the room was advertised with a king sized bed with a tv’s with satellite channels. The bed was queen sized and neither tv had satellite channels (no cable), only access to apps (line Netflix, etc). The phones in the room never worked despite me informing staff several times (they tried to fix but could not). The only streaming app that app that worked was Netflix (other apps like Max and Apple TV stopped working after the first day), I reported this but they only fixed Netflix (which stopped working after the first day) and not the other apps.
Another issue was the transportation from the airport to the hotel was 150,000 Colombian pesos. I assumed this was the going rate that taxis charged. When I got to Cartagena, all the taxis confirmed they only charged 22,000 Colombian pesos to the historic center per Colombian law. The hotel’s transportation was just a regular car, maybe not considered a taxi, but a similar type of small car with no extra amenities, effectively the same as a taxi. So to be overcharged in this way was not a good first impression.

More good - the pools are beautiful and clean. The breakfast was good although arrived late each day.

Our family had an AMAZING time at Casa Claver. It is in the heart of everything in the walled city and areas nearby. The rooms are BEAUTIFUL. Ours was incredibly spacious and you could spend weeks there. Our kids loved the small rooftop terrace swimming pool and we loved the view from the terrace. The breakfast delivered to your room was a special touch for everyone. The staff was so kind and helpful even before our arrival. Even though it’s an older open air building the a/c in the rooms kept everything super comfortable (keeping the doors closed helps). We loved our stay and didn’t want to leave.

This property is beautiful and clean, in an excellent location. Rooms are large, but the kitchen area is open air, so if you actually planned to cook, it might get fairly warm. The rooftop pool is beautiful with seats in sun and shade, and an ice machine nearby. Air conditioners worked well and it was handy to have an elevator available as we stayed on the third floor. Front desk service was excellent.

This was an excellent property conveniently located in the Centro Historico. It was very clean, safe and the included breakfast was delicious with several options and delivered promptly each morning at our desired time. We especially enjoyed the freshly squeezed orange juice. The rooftop pool provided amazing views of the city and was a lovely spot to unwind, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The best part about this hotel is its staff. James and Benjamin were excellent hosts who responded promptly to any questions and helped arrange our excursions and provided restaurant recommendations. Such a wonderful hidden gem right around the corner to all the top bars, restaurants and sites in the walled city. According to the front desk, the casa used to be the US Embassy. The hotel has only a few apartments. Our room included a living room, two full baths, laundry room, and a bedroom with a view of the beautiful courtyard. Benjamin at the front desk provided great recommendations and also arranged for transportation. The terrace has a pool and beautifully decorated with amazing views of the walled city and ocean. Highly recommend this place.

Great stay. Nice clean room with great air conditioning and a great private feeling balcony. The pool area well maintained and was a great break from the heat. Solid breakfast included and was dropped off at the room in the morning. Had no problem checking out at 630am to get to early flight and when we discovered the city was closed to cars for a race, Benjamin at the front desk helped us bring our bags about 0.5km to get out of the walled area. Highly recommend.

Overall this is a nice boutique hotel. I enjoyed the rooftop pool. If booking the standard room, just know that you may or may not get a balcony as pictured. This is very confusing. Upon check-in, I was put in a room on the 1st floor without a balcony. After expressing my concern with what I'd expected (a balcony), I was moved to an apt room which was very nice. This may have been due to my Gold status as well, though. Breakfast is delicious and delivered at the requested time.

Unfortunately the staff ruined a great stay by humiliating my wife over a stain on a towel for which we were charged $150,000 COP. When I asked about the charge, the man at the desk confronted my wife with a picture of a stained towel and a discussion of how he thought the towel got that way. My wife was so humiliated that she cried on the spot. Never in my life have I spent $500 per night to have a front desk male worker discuss sex with my wife. This was humiliation plus sexual harassment! When I escalated my complaint to the authorities n site manager I was offered an explanation of their policy instead of an attempt to make things right. Also for American and European tourists, beware, this hotel is in the middle of a 24hr red light district! Gross!

Furthermore the night time guard watches videos all night at max volume which can be heard loudly in the rooms due to an open concept design that allows noise into the guest rooms. Also the breakfast was gross and very dry.

NOT FIT FOR AMERICANS and EUROPEANS who are expecting a luxury boutique hotel experience.

The staff are so lovely. Every member had a smile and was warm and welcoming. Fantastic customer service. Location is 5*. The hotel is lovely. Great breakfast choice. Thee room was perfect for our needs. Clean and well maintained. Just wished we could have stayed longer.

Hidden Gem in Old Town Cartagena

We had an amazing stay at Casa Clevar. The location is wonderful, close to everything that Cartagena has to offer, yet its location is still quiet and tranquil.

The architecture of the building is stunning, with beautiful flowers and greenery everywhere. However, the true gem is the staff. Despite my limited Spanish skills, I always felt welcomed and accommodated. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of, including amazing breakfasts.

If visiting Cartagena, don't hesitate to stay here.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful, they offer two pool areas. The boutique hotel is quiet and private. The breakfast included was delicious with a few options to chose from. I would stay here again and I would definitely recommend Casa Claver. James took care of my boyfriend and I and was always very friendly and helpful.
