The room was pretty clean but when we checked in there was a big wet spot on the carpet. There were only two towels in the bathroom and we had to track down a housekeeper to get a towel to put over the wet spot. There was a fairly big clump of hair in the bathroom, but otherwise things seemed pretty clean. Our main concern was the “buffet breakfast”. It was not included and cost 29.95 per person so we thought it would be nice. It definitely WAS NOT! There was a very limited selection, less than most free buffets at the cheaper chain hotels. In fact the main offerings were potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and turkey sausage. There was an omelet bar and the usual cheap pastries, make your own pancakes, and a limited selection of fresh fruit. It was massively disappointing. To make matters worse, we were not given a receipt and only found out later that in addition to the unbelievably overpriced breakfast, we were charged a generous tip. The cost of a buffet that most places provide for free was over $75 for two people!

I found a mysterious yellow pill on the floor of our hotel room, where my two babies were staying with me and my husband. The hotel knew that I was traveling with babies, as I called 5x to make sure we were all set with their crib beds and early check in. I am extremely disappointed that our safety was not taken into consideration when cleaning the rooms for children. We could have ended up in the ER, but thank god I found the pill. I had called 3x prior to ask for our cribs to be set up, which we were told would be set up, but they were not set up in the room for our arrival, and our AC was broken. There was also a broken light in the shower. The breakfast was very nice and was the only redeeming quality of our stay.

Property was beautiful everywhere we looked. Pool was clean and staff was attentive. Nice and well behaved crowd, except in the end a few loud kids that were playing rough (I believe it was an exception). Nice views, clean and comfy room, easy check in/out. Minor complaints: giant chess game needs maintenance, one of the umbrellas in the pool was broken and it took a while until someone took it away (it felt and it could hurt someone). Id love more food options in the front desk (ran out of ice cream and other stuff). Gym and sauna also great, we played a lot of pickeball. Fun!!

Make no mistake, the grounds are beautiful. The original mansion is also beautiful. However, it is very modern and the addition of recent structural additions to accommodate an increasing number of guests does diminish the property from the magic it claims. Imagine an old mansion property where the atmosphere ends at the door to your room because as soon as you enter the room, you’re now staring at a Hilton or Comfort Inn.

There were 2 weddings on the property, therefore the restaurant and bar was closed to guests. There was a makeshift bar in the lobby with minimal places to sit. The hotel itself was clean and front desk staff was very helpful

Buffett breakfast was ok. The property is beautiful and the outdoor pool is amazing.

The room however had a musty smell. This was in Fairfield not the King Mansion.
Also upon arrival to room there were no towels.
I had to go to main desk to request.
Other than this it was a wonderful stay.
Tarrytown is beautiful place.

Lots of walking with hills for people in their 80’s. No ice in Putnam building. Had to walk quite far.
The grounds were beautiful. Parking ver difficult. Too many hills for us.

The room was an older room but clean. Some staff that I interacted with were nice. However the front desk staff didn’t even mention there was breakfast that I could have ordered to my room. When I went in I was asked if I had stayed there in the past and I was shown a confusing map and that was it. I wasn’t even asked how my stay was when I checked out. Being there for the first time I was confused about where things were and didn’t feel like going back to the front desk to ask.

Room was clean. Felt room lacked amenities for a hotel of this stature. If you’re handicapped this is not the place for you. Way too many stairs. Difficult to get to your room.
Grounds lovely. Breakfast brunch ok. Would have preferred a real restaurant with ala carte ordering. Felt staff could’ve been more forthcoming about the breakfast brunch and the restaurant. We discovered what we needed to know on our own.
Not sure if I’d stay here again.

Second time staying here, property is beautiful but our room needed some serious TLC. We had to ask to have our shower curtain swapped out bc it smelled so baldly of mildew and the room was not properly cleaned. We found a pill, sunflower seed and other random debris on the carpet. And these weren’t found in the depths of the corners but in plain view to anyone who should have been cleaning. We enjoy staying here otherwise but they do need to be better

The property is beautifully manicured. The buildings are old. One of the buildings is built into a hill so the rooms are on multiple levels without elevators. If you have lots of luggage or strollers and childcare paraphernalia that could be a problem. The parking lots are down a steep hill, so that’s a hike. Lastly, the bed was very uncomfortable. I felt the wire coils in my back all night. I would not go back.

Access to our room was difficult. There was a paved path from the parking lot to exterior wooden steps up to the outside door. It took several tries to get the keycard reader to work. Once inside, there was another flight of stairs to get to our floor. When we got to our room, the card key did not work. I hiked all the way back to the lobby with the card keys and told the young woman at the desk they were'nt working. After several minutes she gave me two keys which did work. But there was NO apology or sympathy of any kind for the inconvenience.
The room was fine,clean and quiet, and the bed was
comfortable. Bathroom was spotless with modern fixtures.

Great for an overnight stay to explore Ossining, Sleepy Hollow or Tarrytown. I stayed in Putnam in room 214 and I must say, for $187, the room was quite large. Ample outlets, lighting, a nice-sized bathroom, wall mirror and a view of the gardens.

What I didn't like was that we were instructed to park in Lot 4, which has only about 15 spots, so when we returned later that evening, we had to park in Lot 1, which was not so much long of a walk as it was out of the way from where our room was.

We didn't get a chance to enjoy cocktails at Goosefeather, because of a private event. For such an expansive property, I was surprised at the small size of the lobby, which IMO was very reminiscent of like a Holiday Inn or Hilton. Bonus was a microwave in the lobby and a complimentary bottle of water in the room.

I was also a bit annoyed at the instructions the employee gave to get to our room. She didn't ask if we had suitcases, which we could have left in the lobby and retrieved after our parking.

Instead, not only did she rush the instructions with a map, but she could have simply gave us much clearer instructions to our section of the hotel.

Would I stay there again. Most likely not.

This is a somewhat dated conference center and event venue in a beautiful spot overlooking the Hudson. The contrast between 1980s-era hotel rooms and hallways with the nicer \"mansions\" is a bit jarring. Breakfast is pricey but in the loveliest building with a really nice view. If you are not here for an event - we were not - you might feel like a second class guest, as we did.

Evening parking was a complete and utter nightmare. I don't know if there was a special event going on or if it was because of the restaurant, but we were lucky to get one of the last spots in a lot far away from the main entrance. Otherwise we would have been forced to use valet parking. Definitely not enough parking on site and not conveniently located.

It was raining the night of our stay which make the parking situation even more frustrating but also the way the rain hit the windows of our room it sounded like rain was dripping inside the whole night and we could hear rain flowing down the gutter pipe right outside. We did not sleep well.

Overall, I have to say that we would not stay here again an would not recommend to others.

Parking was easy. Rooms were clean and comfortable, though bathrooms were a bit worn. Grounds are beautiful. We did not eat breakfast there, went a cute coffee shop in Tarrytown. We stayed in the Rockland building, where we had to ask to change our room. On the 2nd floor we could hear the people above walking back and forth- quite loud. We moved to the top (3rd) floor and all was fine. The hotel staff were very accommodating about moving us.
We were there for an event in the Biddle mansion. The event was great, so no problems there.

I wonderful huge place to drive into but if you are older and or have mobility issues it is a pretty tough place to stay. There are long walk ways up or down hill, depending on which way you are going and limited parking near your room. Then once you get in a labyrinth of stairs and long hall ways. We picked this property because it had an indoor pool. The problem was it was down 4 flights of stairs from our room. Again not a problem if you are young and fit, we are in our 7th level and have chronic knee and back issues this was a tough stay for us.

We recently had a short stay at the Tarrytown Estates. The concierge was professional and polite. The rooms were clean and we had a beautiful view. The only downside I would say it is a lot of walking to the rooms from the park lot. A staff person was helping to my mother-in-law by giving her a ride from the parking lot to the building on a golf cart. We would definitely stay again.

Great for longer stays. We arrived very late to the Estate and enjoyed our brief visit, but it wasn't a good fit for our needs on this trip. The parking lots were relatively far from the rooms, so check-in was more cumbersome than we expected. Breakfast service ended too early for us on this occasion.

This is a better option for a weekend getaway than a quick travel stop. The grounds and architecture are impressive and the amenities abound.

Parking is limited and not conveniently located to the buildings where the rooms are located. The grounds are beautiful but the rooms leave a lot to be desired- when we arrived there was clearly a moisture issue on our floor, there was a terrible smell and fans going in the hallway. Our room was very dark. The one day we requested housekeeping and left early our room was not turned over, but the next day when we had a do not disturb sign on our door housekeeping tried to come in at 9 AM.

Selected this place because it was located close to Rte 287 so I could get back on the road next day. Didn't have time to tour around so not sure about shops nearby.
Staff was cordial and helpful.
While promo pics were appealing, you can tell this is an old, old place that is in need of some renovations such as better lighting in the very spacious old style bedrooms that dreary even though there are good beds but sparse furnishing. If you have mobility issues beware that there are no elevators for guest use and lower free parking areas don't have stairways to the upper levels.
Conclusion, if you're looking for a place close to the highway and a good bed to sleep in, the cost is market fair. Don't know they have the $$$ but this could a neat place with an upgrade!

The only thing that I had real issue with was the Goosefeather. I had dinner there Thursday night, and it was fine. Why? Because there were only a handful people having dinner there as well. Friday night, I tried to have dinner there, and I was told that there were no tables available (or bar seats for that matter) all night. They did not suggest any solutions and brushed me off. The hostesses were rude. Then I asked the front desk if I could have food delivered from there, and they said yes. I went back to order food (the food is exensive enough to begin with, and then they added tip (which i didn't realze until later and I added a tip as well) as well as 10 dollar delivery charge. I said nothing, and ordered the food. It arrived moments later in a paper bag, and each course was in a cardboard box. IF I ever go back to this hotel, I will never set foot in Goosefeather again. This hotel is not friendly to people coming from a big city solo who do not drive car, and they only have the one restaurant (and place for breakfast which was NICE). So IU warn anyone in a similar situation from staying at this hotel. The rooms were reasonable, but constantly going into town by taxi to eat somewhere else or eating at the Goosefeather really adds up and wouldn't necessarily be a good experience for the solo traveler. Isn't our money as good as anyone else/s???

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel looks very nice. The room is clean. The staff is nice. But the room needs better soundproofing insulation. And also it could be the cold weather these days. It takes long time for the shower water to get warm. It is not easy to adjust the water temperature. It was either too cold or too hot.
