Socialtel in Lake Atitlan was AMAZING! It is a beautiful place, very helpful kind staff, clean, spacious, and in a great location. They have daily activities and you get a free welcome cocktail. My favorite part was breakfast! Where else can you get free breakfast of steak and eggs?! Ooof, elite experience! Will definitely recommend or come back! Thank you so much!

This hotel really captured the summer spirit! The check-in was smooth and welcoming. The welcome cocktail at The Beach bar was a lovely start. The pizza there was just right to keep the summer feeling alive. The outdoor gardens are beautiful, and at night, the lighting creates a bohemian atmosphere. After checking out, I paid to park my car overnight at the hotel so I could head to San Marcos La Laguna for a short stay.

This was the perfect place to stay... 10/10 on every aspect. The rooms and facility were spotless and comfortable. There were plenty of activities to participate daily. The food was also amazing, especially the included breakfast. Great value for price.

The hotel age is apparent, and it would benefit from maintenance. Additionally, some of the promotional images are misleading. I specifically booked this hotel based on picture depicting two hands framing a volcano view; however, this particular viewpoint is not on the premises. It is approximately a 10-minute walk away, and access is coingent upon purchasing a yoga class

This was a beautiful hotel with excellent service. Note that this hotel chain is very focused on a younger crowd so expect dance music from breakfast onwards in the bar/restaurant as well as lots of ads and evening activities focused on partying. The organized outdoor activities such as hikes and lake tours were great and the staff were very helpful.

The property needs some urgent upgrades; dated furniture; very old towels and bedding; bathroom renovations; better care of the garden. Swimming pool was dirty, no one goes in the water. Staff is nice and friendly. Breakfast options at the restaurant were good and tasty. But I wouldn’t recommend this place until needed upgrades and renovations are completed. Customers should not get used to pay for poorly maintained properties.

Overpriced, but good location

My cousin and I stayed here for just one night at the end of our stay on Lake Atitlán. Our room (one of the teepees) was great and had everything we needed. The communal bathrooms were often out of toilet paper and paper towels. The restaurant/bar was expensive but the food was good. The bottom of the pool was covered in algae and no one was swimming while we were there. But the location is great for exploring Pana. Overall we would recommend but feel like the price is high for what you get.

The pool did not look so inviting and it can be a little noisy, but we absolutely would go again. I recommend not booking with breakfast through Expedia, it is sometimes included with activities you can book there and there are many options to discover around

This place is close to a lot of things. The only thing is that the pool is dirty and it’s loud at night. It’s close to the main road, so you’ll heard all the neighbor dogs barking at night. Our room had a foul bathroom smell- when we closed the bathroom door it was contained and wasn’t bad. Other than that it’s a great place to stay. The staff, the location is great.

We booked 2 nights at this property ,but we didn't stayed even 30 minutes,because of bad smell. We booked another hotel for the same 2 nights. When I returned the key the next day the person at the front desk told was the sewer and she offered a bottle of something to mitigate the smell .

Property could use some upgrades but overall it is in good condition. They should upgrade all pool furniture & keep pool area cleaner, plus play better tunes. The staff is very friendly… they do play the same playlist over and over again by the pool and that’s quite annoying. Music is loud & on by 9am. The room was kept clean by staff, and I had some good roommates. I stayed with 3 other girls. The food is very GOOD! There’s also free food in the communal kitchen left by other guests. No one touched my food in the fridge & they hold your bags in a locked room plus they set up transportation back to Antigua / Guatemala City, which was also great. I left my passport ID behind at the bar & they sent it to their Antigua location the next day. A lot of stray dogs, plus a resident dog, they keep mostly to themselves. Location is perfect… close to a lot of walkable bars, restaurants & clubs. I walked around pretty late (alone) and felt safe. It gets chilly at night, bring a jacket. Overall I would stay here again. I’m looking forward to trying other Selina locations.

This place has potential. They’ve included some thoughtful things that hostel-oriented travelers will appreciate, and the dining options are great. The woman at the reception desk during the day was super friendly and helpful. I appreciated that they had a king size bed, but the mattress was extra firm, which made my back hurt after a few days. There were a number of maintenance issues, but it did appear that they were actively working on them. Overall, if you don’t mind a hard bed, this is a good option in Panajachel.

Great location, great facilities. Checking in the service is terrible stressed staff that make you feel like you‘re an inconvenience to them and much stuffier service than than checking into a 5 star hotel 😂

But I guess we all have bad days it’s a great place to spend a night before an early transfer to the city but just don’t expect much help from the staff.

Also avoid the wooden huts… any slight wind and the noise from the metal roofs banging about are gonna make you think you’re sleeping in a washing machine 😂

But overall decent enough place & good warm showers and a decent pool.

Private room was great in terms of cleaniness and comfort. The commom areas are also very nice, with a beautiful pool area. Food options are pretty good and there's a pool table. All of these elements make Selina a great place to stay. The only problem I had was regarding noise early in the morning, from trucks (construction and garbage) that are just outside the premise of the area. Not ideal if you'nore an earlybird.

FALSE ADVERTISING!!!, the \"cabin\" pictures are not even from the property, this was even aknowledged by the hotel manager. The pictures show a completely different cabin much bigger, with AC, with bathroom in a place with a lot of vegetation. NOT EVEN CLOSE, there is no AC, there is no bathroom, instead they have shared bathrooms in a separate location that were cleaned only once per day. Toilets dirty, trash cans always full. Open complaint with Expedia and the hotel doesn't even respond to them. I sent pictures to Expedia showing side by side what is being advertised and reality. After many hours on the phone I was told I would get refund for only one of the cabins that I booked. (I had booked two), I hope I get at least that refund.

The photos of the cabins that they offer on Expedia are a hoax and a scam. When you arrive to see the cabins they are facing the street, they do not have private bathrooms and they are tiny. The photographs themselves said that they uploaded them from another place, because theirs were not finished. It was a scam to the point that I decided not to stay there. The service at the reception is heavy and rough. Even other foreigners had the same cheating problem with the photos.

More hype than substance

The double rooms are a bit small. I ordered coffee for breakfast and the staff provided me with caps that were rinsed with water (I didn’t see them use soap) and my cop had sugar crust from the prior guest stuck to the bottom. The rest of the staff were very helpful. The vibe is great, but the actual facilities don’t warrant the price.

Perfect Escape in Pana

Selina was a perfect place to stay in Pana! It was right in the heart of the town so walking everywhere was very easy! The staff was very fun and helpful and the entire place was designed to make you feel welcome! This is more of a co-working, nomad style place rather than a traditional hotel which makes it great for solo travelers or those wanting to meet other people in the common area. Both the hotel and town have tons of activities so it is easy to come for a few days and want to stay for more! when in doubt... book that extra night in this amazing place!

It was very bohemian. The room was cute but I wouldn’t use room 127 again. It’s right beside the road and you get all the road noise. The first night we woke up at 5 am because of someone shouting about their church. The second night I woke up 3 times because of dog’s barking. So not a very restful night.

We really enjoyed our time, we even ended up booking a second night in an upgraded room! They really have a range of rooms to fit all kinds of travelers. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful when asking for advice or chatting while eating in the restaurant. There is a bit of noise from the street but that is to be expected all over town. Overall a great stay and would be back!

Stayed in room 210 it was the ultimate room and had a direct view of San Pedro Volcano.

The room is big and very well decorated. Things to be aware of... no A/C or fan in the room. We were here on a very temperate time of year and it wasn’t a problem but just be aware if you are sensitive to that kind of thing while sleeping.

The grounds are great. It is a hostel atmosphere so it can be louder than other hotels but again wasn’t a problem for us.

You aren’t right on the water but they have a separate peace of property called the beach a short walk away which is adjacent to the city dock where you can go sit on the water.

Overall we loved this place and stayed an extra night.

Front desk was always helpful when needed.

They need to be more professional in their work. We got food poised at their restaurant . At night we did not have access to running water, they told us that the water tank broke down days ago and they have not repaired it, this place is unhealthy. From 6am we asked to speak with a supervisor, they spent almost 5 hours (near our check out) until they appeared, who spoke with us was the director of the kitchen, Carlos the manager never showed up, and the receptionist Sara who behaved in the worst, empathetic and arrogant way.
The place does not have a first aid kit. Customer service is deplorable, some of the workers were drunk or hangover. The staff needs to be trained, \"sorry, my pleasure and thank you\" are words that they should learn to use. There are too many dogs, they sleep in the sofas, they have fleas, and there are excrements in the green areas, again this is unhealthy. It is a pity since the place is beautiful, but with this kind of people in charge, I do not see much future.

The only thing I disliked was that the rooms aren't very sound proof. You could hear the cars until early morning and the music from the pool in the evening. So just bring ear plugs! Otherwise, the food, service, beds, cleanliness, etc were wonderful.

The staff were really lazy and frankly a bit rude. The hours are not great either. You cannot get your key deposit back if you head out before seven, but they have someone to collect the keys.
