The breakfast cost €14 a day and it is stale, poor quality with absolutely no service. you would be much better off to walk outside and eat from the large variety of cafe's and restaurants mere steps away.
The room had a gross plumbing smell, which needed to be ventilated each time we entered and it is a drab brown color, everything brown.
The rooftop is very nice but a friend came to visit there and they have a tiny dog and the restaurant staff ordered us to leave because of the tiny purse dog that can just sit in a bag, it was making no sound and bothering nobody. To be asked to leave by the place you are staying over something like that is a very poor experience. Obviously we went elsewhere for dinner and drinks and had a great time but overall the staff are brusque and snarky so you don't feel welcome or at home or comfortable. I don't know if I would recommend this place to anyone. It wasn't terrible but for the same money you can stay somewhere with a more comfortable and pleasant experience.

Rude staff and manager !breakfast are has cameras and they monitor how much you eat-portions really small -don’t recommend paying for it !Would never go back .Hotel is pretty nice but people that work there especially a man in breakfast area very mean .They tell you not to bring water or snacks to pool .So weird .I don’t recommend it at all!!

I was greeted by Mark, super friendly and he remembered my name! The hotel is in an amazing location, soon as you step outside there’s so many dining options - restaurants, cafes, bars etc, all walking distance. The Sagrada Familia also took me only about 20 mins to walk to. The rooftop pool is kinda small, but it’s nice nevertheless and there’s a bar also on the rooftop with really friendly staff.
The only downside I’d have to say is that the rooms are not soundproof and can hear the next rooms talking and laughing all through the night.
But if I were to ever travel to Barcelona again, I think I’d consider staying again.

The ONLY THING, the first night the alarm went on around 5am for 3 hours. It woke me up and the entire HOTEL. The alarm went off only around 9h30 am. Those problems happen, but the fact that they did not offer ANY compensation of even a free drink was disappointed.

Also I walk in the hotel one late night (4 am) and the door was lock (which is normal), but the clerk was so rude, impolite and obviously not smiling.

Except those point, the hotel si great and well located. I would probably go back, but those 2 events left me with bitter taste.

Comfort with luxury

Perfect stay after our cruise and the family room was the best set up for us traveling with two teen daughters. Shower pressure was amazing and bed super comfortable. Great location easy to walk to many attractions across the city.
Rooftop was great setting for a cocktail before dinner.

The lobby man was very polite and helpful. However, the room is not extremely far from a 4 star hotel. It was a window towards a duct and elevator not outside!!!! Extremely noisy! With this price you can get a far better quality hotel.

The Junior suite wasn’t as large as we expected. Also, during first night there was a strange noise in the hallway. Some kind of a machine turning on and off all night which prevented us from sleeping. After complaining they turned it off, no one knew what it does or why it is there though. Strange.
On the other hand the hotel was nice, good breakfast, close to shops and restaurants.

The property is nicely placed in the center with many dining options, attractions close by both walkable and easily accessible using taxi's. The taxi's were right outside the hotel.

Staying on the lower floors facing the city bustle and being in the heart of town, you do get to hear some light people chatter if they are really loud but it did not bother me (heat sleeper) or my wife (very light sleeper).

Only issue was with cooling in the room, even setting the temperature low to 17°C (approx 63°F) did not cool down the space sufficiently enough. Is a general problem in Spain hotels I presume. Had been 3rd hotel stay in 10 days and the same experience on the in room cooling.

Lovely hotel conveniently located in a safe part of town. Plenty of dining options, activities and interesting things to see. Great shopping and accessible to public transportation. The property is immaculate and the service is second to none. The room was extra clean and the beds were so comfortable. Surprisingly the hotel was so quiet despite the bustling activities on the street lined with high class bars and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay.

This is an excellent hotel. Rooms are unusually spacious, similar to the size of North American size rooms. The bed is comfortable and actually a real king size. Shower is excellent! Air conditioning worked very well. Excellent coffee in the breakfast room. The in room coffee pretty good if you don’t mind pods.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel America for two weeks, and the experience was exceptional every day. The service was truly outstanding with the front desk staff offering fantastic recommendations and always greeting us with a warm smile - a true reflection of Catalan hospitality. The hotel’s terrace provides lovely views of the city which I love for watching sunset shades.

One of the highlights is the hotel's prime location on Enric Granados Street which is often considered the culinary heart of Barcelona. Whether you are in the mood for traditional tapas, Michelin-recommended restaurants, or global cuisine, this street has it all. From vibrant vermouth bars to world’s best bars (in the close proximity), you wont feel short of options! From the best local coffee roasters to world renowned coffee shops, everything is just a short 10-minute walk away. We cannot wait to return to Hotel America on our next visit to Barcelona!

Great hotel and staff. Location is perfect but it does come at the expense of noisy nights since in Barcelona people come out and stay out late. Very disappointed in hotels.com since the website charged $27/day/person for breakfast but the hotel itself charges $17/day/person.

Walking distance from all the major sites. Just on the edge of the city centre, so you can get away from the crowds. Staff is really helpful and friendly. Lent me a kettle so I could make my own tea. Recommend booking tickets to the major sights at the hotel. Fast, easy and convenient (no additional charge).
Rooms are not sound proof, so it can be noisy at night. Not always a restful sleep because of all the noise from outside.

A super nice hotel in the best location (in my opinion). Close to shopping and tourist attractions but still in a more quiet neighborhood. We stayed 5 nights and appreciated the nice pool area (especially my 4 year old son). The breakfast was not the best but there was options that was fine. Clean and super nice rooms as well. Shower was amazing. We will definitely come back!

The room was different from the pictures; it didn’t have windows or sunlight at all. Upon check-in, we inquired about the availability of other rooms with windows as we had booked for 4 nights but the front desk staff repeatedly said “the hotel was fully booked, we checked-in late” without providing any supportive explanations, additional information (price differences, options, potential available rooms or dates that we could come back and inquire again, etc.) or making any further supportive effort or intention to help. I even thought the staff was a bit rude or intentionally assigned us to this damp shady room on the first floor.

The rooftop pool didn’t even allow our own water I carried— a staff walked over from their bar/resto area to stop me as soon as I put out my water, which was a bit too much for hotel guests. For hotel guests, it should be open to at least allow own water to hydrate, if possible, I think.

The location is very convenient, we loved the neighborhood. Everything we wanted to explore was walkable.

Fantastic hotel in upmarket neighbourhood

Fantastic hotel is a great neighbourhood. Close to the main sites but also an upmarket local neighbourhood in its own right with plenty of lovely bars , restaurants and shops on your door steps - away from the main tourist bustle. Would definitely recommend and return. Roof top bar and pool were the icing on the cake.

Hotel America perfectly situated for our city break. Close enough to travel in to key attractions but far enough out that not surrounded by hustle and bustle of tourist areas. Breakfast service excellent and staff very friendly and attentive. We booked a junior suite for extra space as travelling with a child, room did not disappoint. View from window was pleasant. Cleaning of the room was the best we have seen, staff very attentive to small touches with folding nightclothes and placing cushions/my little boys teddy on the bed. Staff on front desk also super friendly and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a great stay. Bar/pool area very nice and relaxed, food very nicely presented and tasty. Prices were not too bad either. Stored our cases for us on the last day. Very impressed with this hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service is excellent (they even agreed to look after my luggage a couple of days after I checked out). The rooms are comfortable and the sauna is a nice touch. It is well located in a happening part of Barcelona. All round, this was a great stay.

It is a good hotel near city center, Paseo de Gracia and La Pedrera. Staff is very helpfull and friendly. Room was overlooking the street, but it wasn't so loud. It was clean, and it was cleaned every day. A lot of tapas bars in the near. No need to book breakfast, you can eat outside for cheaper price.

Staying here for the second time in 3 weeks and we are coming back again; basically convert it into our headquarters while in Barcelona. My sister lives in Enric Granados and we have tried 3-4 hotels within 1 block distance and just figured out this is the most complete, convenient and favorite.

Really great hotel. All staff really friendly and helpful and the room was great. Reference the other reviews about the hotel noise, I requested a quiet room and was placed in an internal courtyard facing room which was silent. Would absolutely recommend this place and will stay nowhere else when I return to Barcelona

The area and the staff are good but the hotel was very disappointing and is in need of serious investment. This was the 3rd hotel of our trip and it was very substandard to our stays in Seville and Madrid. We had to move rooms after 1 night as the shower was leaking which on inspection was an existing issue (warped floor floor and visible excessive use of sealant) which resulted in the room smelling of drains and damp (room 604). We were moved but this room should not have been sold in this condition @ almost £200/ night. Soundproofing in the rooms is non existent, and we were on the 6th floor and the nouse was unbearable even mid week. Breakfast was ok but the coffee was horrendous. We were so glad for Barcelona’s beaches as the pool water was greeny/yellow so we did not use it. There must be better hotels in Barcelona!

We felt very comfortable during our stay in Hotel America. The location is just perfect, all attractions were walking distance, a lot of restaurants around. We didn't book breakfast at the hotel and had delicious breakfasts every day in different cafe for very cheap price. Very safe area to walk around at night. Pros:

- Kind staff, rooms are comfortable and cleaned every day (which I liked because I recently traveled to the US and their policy was different).

- The hotel is well located in the Eixample neighborhood. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops around.

Cons:

- Rooms are are not soundproof, you can hear everything from your neighbors, so I had to sleep every night with earplugs.

- The first night, I found several hair from other guests sticked to the decorative bed throw blanket, so I had to write a note to the housekeeping lady telling her not to put it my bed from that moment on.

- One morning one of the housekeeping ladies entered to my room while I was sleeping, which was pretty scary. She apologized and left.
