For a one-night stay, the place was adequate with good access to restaurants and grocery stores close by. The staff was attentive. The only downside was the noise level being close to the main street - cars and people alike.

Heaters were only in the bedroom so it got a bit cold elsewhere, but tolerable.

Location: The area has tons of businesses nearby and there are numerous options for food with Indian being very prevalent.A small shoutout to Athiti Indian nearby for amazing food and staff. That said the area is noisy. Lots of emergency vehicle activity, and a subway that runs directly below the building that can be heard and felt every time.

Cleanliness: Hotel seemed clean and nothing stood out as being in poor repair. No problem at all with the cleanliness of the facility.

Staff: We had limited interactions but what we did have were typical of a hotel.

Facilities/Function: Here is where this goes bad for us. There is no lift in the building. It does say that in the Expedia listing but only if you are looking for it specifically in the accessibility area. You will be carrying your bags up fairly tight wooden staircases. I am sure the response will be that they always help carry them but that isn't really the case. The staff member checking us in would have been willing to assist grudgingly but there are no bell hops or actual people there to assist you.

Cleanliness was amazing! The housekeepers were cleaning the rooms everyday. The two lady housekeepers helped us with our luggage by carrying the bags to our rooms. The entire staff is very helpful and have a phone number they answer 24 hours a day if you need help. Very impressive for a family run Hotel.

Would Absolutely Stay Again

We were only there for one night but excellent service and the room was great. The balcony would have been perfect to take advantage of more if we hadn't been needing to get to sleep early. Only downside: the sink basin was designed by someone who doesn't like you.

We loved staying at the Villa Garden Guest House. Our booking was like having our own little apartment and worked very well for the three of us! We never felt like there wasn’t enough space it was very beautiful. The only feedback I have is if you are staying here there are a lot of stairs and no elevator so be sure to consider this. There is a certain charm to the set of wooden stairs in the apartment building. If you are very strong and or if you just have a carry-on that would work really well. I do have to say the staff were very wonderful and carried our luggage up for us when we arrived from the reception desk onwards. The morning we left the reception area was closed so we did have to carry our luggage down which was OK cause we had a plan. However, the staff did give us the option of bringing our luggage down to the reception area the night before our departure where they would stash it and keep it safe, but we decided to keep our luggage with us as we needed some items. Other than this it was an absolutely perfect location and stay for us. The metro is very close by and honestly, it didn’t bother us at all if you could hear the little bit of vibration (only till 1:00am) We kept ourselves busy and we slept right through the night like babies, thank you so much Villa Garden Guest House for a lovely stay an amazing service.

Comfortable stay

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen. Everything was good. We had a comfortable stay. The kitchen is a little old but very usable.

There is only air conditioning inside the two bedrooms so keep that in mind if you want to utilize the bed in the living area.

Bathroom is clean and updated condition. Beds are comfortable. All in all a good stay.

Excellent stay. As is mentioned on the listing, you will need to carry your luggage up at least one flight of stairs to reception. We ended up on the top (fourth) floor, and had to carry our bags there too. Beyond that, everything was great. We were in a larger unit with four people and there were two A/C units, the bathroom was large, and it was nice to have a kitchen area too. Staff were very friendly, the garden is nice, and there are a ton of great restaurants in the area. Convenient to the airport and city center. We would not hestitate to stay here again.

I stayed here two consecutive weekends. Both times, the staff was very friendly and the courtyard is very nice if you plan to hang out at the guest house, or eat meals there. The restaurant options for dinner are not many right outside the guest house, but I really like the Portugalia across the street, so that's where I ate (steak, Portugalia style). I highly recommend it. And don't skip the dessert: the chocolate mousse is phenomenal. The metro is very near, so you can get anywhere really quickly. There are lots of coffee shops right outside the guest house for breakfast and quick meals. I gave it 3 stars because the first time I was upgraded to an apartment, which sounded nice, but it was a fifth floor walk-up, it felt cheaply built, and it was poorly furnished (no chairs or surfaces to put things on in the bedroom beyond the night tables, no tvs in the bedrooms, no plugs near the nightables). And the sole tv in the hallway did not work. I was told it would be fixed but it was not. The next weekend I stayed in a room and it was much nicer. I was allowed to get into the room early, which was great. Like I said, the staff is very friendly. I wanted to open the window, however, and it was stuck. Again, I was told it would be fixed but it never was. I like this area, but some people may not. It may be too edgy for some people. I always felt safe, though.

Clean and modern property close to subway line. The room was comfortable and well spacious enough for our needs. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. While conveniently located, including for a quick Uber ride to the airport, the area may not be Lisbon’s best, particularly at night. There are several good restaurants roughly 1km down the street, but few nearby. Rooms on the street side will be exposed to traffic noise, particularly from ambulances which are frequently rushing to a nearby hospital. Overall perfectly suitable for a nice, short tour of Lisbon.

I wouldn’t say it’s in the nicest possible area but we only slept there so an uber to the door going out and coming back worked fine for us.
Comfortable, functional , clean and quiet room on the garden side. Good staff.

The guest house is located in a good location, near the metro, and within a couple of miles of important destinations. The only problem is that you have to climb multiple hills to get from place to place, so metro is most convenient. The facility did not have an elevator, so taking our two suitcases to the second floor was something we had not anticipated. The staff helped taking the suitcases from the first to the second floor. Otherwise, the stay was great!

Our apartment was basically one large room with a double bed and a single bed. It felt more like a hostel. Staff were friendly and accommodating, but the location was poor and off the beaten track from sightseeing areas, shopping, and dining. It wasn't what we had hoped for and I won't be staying here the next time I visit Lisbon, Portugal.

The inside of the building suprised us a lot. It was beautiful, smelled good. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was beautiful and well furnished. There is no elevator so if you have trouble climbing stairs be aware. We were on the last floor and had 81 stairs to climb. We did not have any problems with that but it could be difficult for others. The subway is a 5 minute walk away. You do not need a car in Lisbon because it is so much easier and cheaper to take the subway (metro), bus, tram or train anywhere with the same ticket card. I would strongly refer this apartment to anyone.

This was a GREAT place to stay but I didn’t realize it wasn’t the best area to stay in Lisbon. It felt totally fine but it wasn’t in the most safe or walkable area, so we used to the subway to go down to the water and the popular area (Alfama). The subway was super easy and very close so that was a plus!

But all that being said, everything about the place and the staff and the rooms was fantastic! Can’t say enough good things about our stay and the service provided - just not our ideal location!

We arrived around 1:00am and check-out was 11:00am. I was picking up our rental car at the airport and the front desk kicked out my family from the room because they didn't allow them to stay 30 minutes extra, or they would charge another day. I talked to the front desk clerk from the airport to let him know I would arrive back to the hotel very soon; I arrived at 11:25 to find my family in the reception area packing our luggage.

We had a great 5-night experience in June 2022 staying at Vila Garden Guesthouse. The service was above and beyond: friendly, helpful, available and considerate. The location is close to metro, and not far from the airport. The room/apt was exceptionally clean and comfortable. It's stairs to your room, but it's good exercise. We received some good neighbourhood restaurant recommendations and help with reserving a fado resto. When you arrive, press the small round stainless steel button to get buzzed in.

Concierge was very nice and helpful but the property is not in a good location and there is nothing to do around the property. We had to take Uber to main city center. The room was clean but kitchen was outdated and the room was freezing. It would have been nice to have a warm room to come home to after a long day of traveling. The heaters are weak and the bathroom was so cold to shower in. There are no elevators which will be a problem for many travelers with luggage.

SOPHIA is the replica for customer service!

There was a small issue at check in, as our message from Hotels.com about another guest joining us, did not make it to the property. We had over 6+ hotels during our stay in Europe and all other 5 were happy to accommodate and got the change, however the women who checked us in at VGG was quite rude about the situation, and made it seem as if we were inconveniencing her. Being the customer service industry, no matter what the situation or whos \"fault\" the problem rests on, it should be the concern of the property to best serve the client. The women was able to supply an extra room, but kept saying \"well your lucky I have a room available\". We also asked for extra towels, and were told we had enough in reach room. I appreciate their concern with waste, but asking for 2 additional washcloths and towels should only be met with an \"of course\"- the snotty remark was not necessary. Luckily we met the owner Sophia the next day, and she completely changed our stay! She was so warm and welcoming and answered all of our questions and went above and beyond to offer suggestions. I left fantastic reviews because of Sophia, because she clearly knows what customer service looks like, unlike the unhappy lady we had the misfortune of meeting at check in. People who are on vacation, especially in another country sometimes are confused and need a little extra help attitude and an aggressive demeanor is not the way to make those feel welcome- even if we inconvenienced her with our extra guest.

This place was nice and spacious for our family during our recent stay in Lisbon. The staff is very helpful and can give you a lot of information about places to see and go to.

It is located close to grocery stores, cafes and more. It is a few minutes drive to the Chiado and Roisso areas which are the best to hang out, shop and spend time watching the lively town. The castle is close to it as well. The central location makes it easy to access all the sights and spots Lisbon has to offer.

The kitchen is spacious and well equipped so that you can cook if you feel like it. The rooms have a/c and the bathroom is nice as well.

There is no elevator on the property as they say in their information. There are a lot of stairs, but the staff was very helpful to carry our bags, they are very friendly and happy to assist.

Overall, this place offers comfort and a great place to stay.

Great hotel for a great price. My room was very nice and had good amenities. It was clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn’t like was the neighborhood. The street it was on (which you needed to walk down to get to the main part of the touristy city stuff) was not the best and there were many homeless people. This of course can happen in any big city but I was uncomfortable with walking down this street as a female alone. Having said that, the hotel was very nice and was a good price. Staff was very friendly as well.

Totally pleasant experience

Very clean and comfortable place, with helpful and pleasant staff. Great location, too. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to a friend. Only problem is there is no lift - don't bring heavy luggage!

Lovely hotel for short stay

It’s always more reassuring to hear a good review from someone in real life as opposed to reading them online, so when a couple leaving Vila Garden Hotel saw us arriving with our cases and said “Are you staying here? It is a really LOVELY hotel, and the staff are great”, we instantly relaxed. And they were absolutely right- very friendly helpful staff, nice comfortable, clean room with tea and coffee making facilities, lovely bathroom with a bath and shower, tv, and good soundproof windows from the busy road outside. It was a very pleasant stay. Town centre also easily reached by Metro. We would definitely come back!

Great but noisey

Very clean and new looking hotel. Staff are very helpful and garden area is really lovely. No iron in room we were staying in unfortunately. We could hear other guests walking about in the room above us and you can hear the metro going underneath the hotel till about 1.30am. Would have been a perfect stay apart from the noise.
